Additional Inheritance - Chap 20
Chapter 20
Trigger warning: Violence
Wen Xiaohui was so touched by his knight in shining armour1. “Come quick, and kill this fatty!”
Director Luo was still the boss of a corporation, so even if he’d drank too much, he didn’t plan to perform such lewd acts in front of others. However, since he was threatened by a teenager, he had to play by the book and put his pride aside. He said gruffly, “I only wanted to take Adi home. Do you understand common courtesy?”
Director Luo said these words righteously; however, his hand was still resting on Wen Xiaohui’s waist.
Luo Yi replied indifferently, “I don’t.” He rushed up with a giant stride, raised his fist and smashed it down onto Director Luo’s face.
Director Luo’s response was sluggish so he was forced to endure the punch.
Wen Xiaohui was beside him, and the scene in front of him played out in slow-motion. He stared blankly at Luo Yi’s fist coming into contact with Director Luo’s chubby face, the flab contorted and unfurled. Director Luo’s eye looked bloodshot in an instant and his nose bridge became crooked. As a result of the punch, the beads of sweat on his forehead flew through the air.
This punch sent him flying despite his body weight of 210 to 220 pounds2.
Wen Xiaohui gawked at the scene, but he didn’t have enough time to rejoice nor did he have time to act stunned. Director Luo crashed into his own car with a loud bang and fell to the ground.
Luo Yi’s long legs stomped on Director Luo’s beer belly repeatedly. At the beginning, Director Luo struggled, yelled and tried to stand up. Afterwards he resigned himself to being at the mercy of others, and flailed around on the ground.
Wen Xiaohui looked at Luo Yi’s profile; his face was completely expressionless. It didn’t have the ferocity of when he was fighting nor did it contain the excitement of when he was venting his anger. His expression looked very tranquil, and there wasn’t even a frown on his face. It was like he was reading a book, or eating dinner, rather than beating someone up.
Director Luo subconsciously reached out to grab Luo Yi’s leg, but Luo Yi kicked his hand away and kicked him a couple of times.
The karaoke bar security guard ran towards them. “Hey, what’s going on?!”
Luo Yi used one of his feet to trample Director Luo’s lower back, and he turned around to give the security guard a cold stare. “Mind your own business.” A few loose strands of hair clung onto his forehead and they partially disguised the feral look in eyes.
The security guard’s cheeks stiffened, and he gulped down his saliva subconsciously. He dipped his head, glanced around and saw that there wasn’t anyone around, and left.
Luo Yi looked down at Director Luo again. It seemed as though he was talking to Wen Xiaohui, but thinking out loud at the same time. “Which hand did he use to touch you? Was it his left hand?”
Wen Xiaohui didn’t have enough time to open his mouth to protest before Luo Yi lifted his foot up and stomped firmly on Director Luo’s fingers!
Crack! The sound of breaking fingers made people’s hair stand on end. A howling noise reminiscent of the sound of a pig being slaughtered immediately echoed through the car park.
Wen Xiaohui was flabbergasted. He looked at the youth in front of his eyes, unable to control the trembling of his body. Who was this person? Was this the same Luo Yi that he knew? No, Luo Yi was the boy with the gentle and sunny smile. How could this person be so scary? How could he feel so foreign?
“What about his right hand? Did his right hand touch you too?”
Wen Xiaohui felt a gush of air rushing from his chest to his throat, which opened his nearly frozen vocal chords. “Luo Yi!”
Luo Yi’s neck stiffened.
“Luo Yi! That’s enough!” Wen Xiaohui wobbled as he rushed over to push him away. His voice showed that he was clearly terrified. “It’s fine, Luo Yi. I’m okay.”
Luo Yi looked at Director Luo who was on the ground, and then he looked at Wen Xiaohui who was grimacing, and his expression became milder. “Don’t worry, I’ll avoid his vital organs.”
Wen Xiaohui gasped for air. “It’s okay. It’s really okay. He’s my boss’s friend and an investor.”
“Are you worried that he’ll make things difficult for you? He won’t.” Luo Yi crouched down and calmly pulled down the waistband of Director Luo’s trousers.
Wen Xiaohui asked in a trembling voice, “W-What are you doing?!”
“Should we castrate him?”
“Luo Yi!”
Luo Yi chuckled softly, “I’m just kidding.”
Director Luo shielded his fingers. His whole face was covered in tears and snots, and he stared at Luo Yi with eyes that were brimming with despair and fear. He mumbled and begged for forgiveness, but he couldn’t utter a full sentence.
Luo Yi completely stripped Director Luo’s lower half, and took out his phone to take a photo. Although Wen Xiaohui thought that this was going too far, he didn’t try to stop him. Firstly, he was frightened by Luo Yi, and second, they would both be in trouble if they didn’t keep any compromising material of Director Luo. He was more worried about Luo Yi’s future prospects than his job.
After Luo Yi finished taking the photo, he placed one foot on Director Luo’s leg. The tone of his voice was pleasant, but the sound of his voice made people tremble with fear. “You should know what to do.”
With tears in his eyes, Director Luo nodded vigorously.
Luo Yi slipped his mobile phone back in his pocket, and grabbed Wen Xiaohui’s hand. They walked away without looking back.
They walked until they reached the road. Wen Xiaohui felt that his palms were covered in sweat, and he loosened his grip.
Luo Yi turned around to look at him. “Did I scare you?”
Wen Xiaohui pursed his lips and whispered, “This is the first time I’ve seen you like this.” Previously, when he was nearly strangled by Sydney’s ex-husband, Luo Yi’s actions weren’t this scary. Perhaps it was because Sydney’s ex-husband had been knocked out by the vase so Luo Yi didn’t have the opportunity to show his true colours. Anyway, he had seen a side of Luo Yi that he’d never seen before today and for the first time, he began to wonder if he only had a superficial understanding of Luo Yi.
Luo Yi said, “My reaction seemed a little violent because I was anxious, and I’ve also trained in Muay Thai. You don’t need to worry, he’s not heavily injured.”
“I’m really fine. It’s enough to teach him a lesson. There’s no need to be so heavy handed.” He didn’t want to get into trouble over an old pervert. Luo Yi had only just enrolled at such a prestigious university – what if he was disciplined over this matter? What if there were even more serious consequences?
“If you decide to use violence as the solution to a problem, then you need to make sure it’s done properly. Otherwise their desire for revenge can’t be suppressed, which has further consequences.” Luo Yi looked at Wen Xiaohui. “I won’t let him bother you again.”
Wen Xiaohui sighed, “Fuck! I shouldn’t have come tonight3. That bastard Raven! If it weren’t for him trying to pimp me out, things wouldn’t have gotten out of hand.”
Luo Yi’s expression became profound. “Did Raven introduce him to you?”
Wen Xiaohui nodded, and replied angrily, “His surname is Luo, and he’s discussing an investment with Raven. I think he might be the boss or senior executive of the company that wants to get Shao Qun on board. We met him at the charity event, and he became fucking interested in me. That shameless Raven wanted to pimp me out.”
Luo Yi said solemnly, “You should have told me about this sort of thing.”
“I didn’t…” Wen Xiaohui suddenly thought of something and covered Luo Yi’s ears with his hands. He whispered, “Did you hear me cursing?”
Luo Yi laughed, and held Wen Xiaohui’s hand tenderly. “I didn’t hear anything.”
Wen Xiaohui said with annoyance, “I can’t talk to you about this sort of thing, it’s not appropriate. It’s disgusting…”
“Who are you going to tell then?”
Wen Xiaohui was stunned.
Luo Yi grasped Wen Xiaohui’s hand and placed it upon his cheek. “You can’t tell your mum, and you don’t think it’s appropriate to raise with your friends. If you don’t tell me, you have to suffer all by yourself. I don’t want you to suffer anything by yourself, especially something so distasteful.”
Wen Xiaohui’s lips began to tremble slightly, and he felt his nose tingle. Sometimes he felt like having a good cry, but he couldn’t cry over such annoying people and things as it would seem like he was giving in. Luo Yi had a knack for touching the softest part of his heart, which made him feel both forlorn and moved. He had a reason to put on a brave face and not burst into tears in front of Luo Yi.
Luo Yi placed Wen Xiaohui’s head on his shoulder. He said gently, “Shhh, I’m here.”
Wen Xiaohui threw his arms around Luo Yi’s neck and began to sob. He murmured something which sounded like he was scolding someone.
Luo Yi stroked his hair gently, and caressed his back. These tender and soothing actions were actually paired with an expressionless face; however, Wen Xiaohui was unable to see it.
Wen Xiaohui sniffed, “I think I need to prioritise finding a man that I can sponge off. Working life is too difficult, and I have to put up with fucking sexual harassment. I can clearly get by on my looks alone, so why do I have to put myself through this?”
Luo Yi said with a smile, “I can provide for you?”
Wen Xiaohui chuckled, “Sure.”
Luo Yi flagged down a taxi, and they got into the car. Wen Xiaohui rubbed his eyes; after being frightened, and as a result of the night breeze, he felt partially sober. He’d cheered up a little, but he was still a little worried when thinking about Director Luo who had been beaten to the state of wailing like a banshee4. “What should we do if he calls the police?”
“He won’t, he’s the kind of person who won’t risk his social standing.”
“What if he doesn’t play fair, then we’ll be in trouble. What should we do?”
“I took a photo of him, so he won’t dare to act rashly. You don’t have to worry about this matter.”
“Erm…” Wen Xiaohui rubbed his hands, “He wouldn’t have the audacity to tell Raven, would he?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Luo Yi replied, “Don’t accompany Raven anywhere, and try not to be concerned about offending him; he won’t be a partner at Juxing for much longer.”
“Okay.” Wen Xiaohui said dejectedly, “I even bought him a present which cost me a month’s salary. I feel so angry when I think about it. Damn it.”
Luo Yi comforted him. “Stop thinking about him, he’ll get what he deserves5.”
When they got home, Wen Xiaohui washed his face and collapsed on the bed. The alcohol was still active in his system so he fell asleep quickly.
Luo Yi sat cross-legged on the floor, leaning against the bed and with a notebook computer on his lap. He imported the photos from his mobile phone, he scrolled through them and his lips curled into a chilling smile. He left the room with his notebook computer, and opened up his communication tool to make a call.
“Hi, who’s this?”
“Hello, Young Master Shao.” Using the voice-changing device, Luo Yi’s voice was disguised such that it sounded neither male nor female, and it sounded quite bizarre.
The other end of the line paused briefly. “Tell me what you want in one sentence.”
“I have compromising material of Luo Zhigao6 and I want to work together with you.”
“What kind of compromising material? What do you mean by working together?”
“He definitely won’t want anyone to see these photos. I’ll send the stuff to your office tomorrow via express courier, but they’ll be censored. I have the originals so you can decide once you’ve seen the photos. I’ll phone you again at the same time tomorrow.”
Shao Qun said coldly, “No matter who you are, you won’t get off lightly if you mess me around.”
“Young Master Shao, it seems as though you’re keen to step out of the shadow of your father and older sister because you want to demonstrate the abilities of your group of princelings. Surely you like cooperating with smart people.” Luo Yi disconnected the call after he finished speaking.
He edited Director Luo’s photo, and pixelated the most important areas. However, those who knew Director Luo would still be able to tell who he was. He printed out a few photos and sealed them in an envelope.
He got into bed once he was finished, and just as he began to sink into the mattress, Wen Xiaohui mumbled groggily, “Why aren’t you asleep?”
“I’m going to sleep now.” Luo Yi looked at Wen Xiaohui’s head and his pale cheeks, and he couldn’t resist reaching out and skimming his hand gently along Wen Xiaohui’s jawline.
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes were still partially shut. “What’s up?”
“It’s nothing, go back to sleep.”
Wen Xiaohui closed his eyes again, let out a big yawn and pursed his lips. He curled up inside the duvet like a little squirrel that was trying to stay warm.
At a volume so low that it was almost only audible to himself, Luo Yi said,”Fool.”
Footnotes:
The raws refer to the Chinese phrase of a hero rescuing a beauty.
Originally denoted in catty (unit of measurement in China), this is equal to 90-100kg.
I’ve made a correction here because I’m sure there was a typo in the raws. It said that he should have been there tonight and that doesn’t make sense as he was already present.
鬼哭狼嚎, wail like ghosts and howl like wolves (idiom). I’ve used banshee as the English equivalent (derived from Irish folklore) as they’re also ghosts. There’s been quite a few animal related idioms over the last few chapters, which I feel must be intentionally referring to the bestial nature of the characters.
多行不义必自毙, persisting in evil brings about self-destruction (idiom).
The author keeps pulling names out of thin air; this must be Director Luo’s full name.
