Additional Inheritance - Chap 46
Chapter 46
This kiss was more subdued in comparison with their first kiss. Luo Yi’s large hand held the back of Wen Xiaohui’s head, tilting it up slightly as he kissed those soft lips thoroughly and passionately. The peach-flavoured lip balm enticed others to savour the owner of those lips one mouthful at a time.
Wen Xiaohui subconsciously grabbed onto Luo Yi’s shoulder – it was unclear whether he wanted to push him away or hold him tightly.
When did Luo Yi become so tall and well-built? When they first met, Luo Yi was clearly around the same height as Wen Xiaohui, and he still had an air of youthful inexperience and delicateness. The ribs above his waist could be seen easily in the past, but now, his shoulders were so broad that Wen Xiaohui nearly couldn’t grasp a shoulder with one hand. Luo Yi’s pectoral muscles moved in rhythm to his breathing, touching Wen Xiaohui’s chest with each breath. There was also that passionate and exerting kiss.
At that moment, Wen Xiaohui was more aware than ever that Luo Yi had become a man.
He came back to his senses after the intense kiss, awkwardly pushing Luo Yi away himself.
Luo Yi licked his lips as he smiled slightly at Wen Xiaohui. His eyes looked tempting, almost stopping Wen Xiaohui’s heart from beating.
Wen Xiaohui took a couple of steps back. “Yeah, I’m going back. You should go home to sleep. Take care on your way home.”
Luo Yi nodded. “Let’s celebrate my birthday together.”
“Sure.” Wen Xiaohui hurriedly turned around and ran back upstairs.
Luo Yi watched Wen Xiaohui’s back view until he disappeared inside the building, without coming back to his senses. After a while, a sigh sounded in the middle of the night and there wasn’t another soul in sight in the neighbourhood.
———————————————–
Wen Xiaohui crept into the house. He heard the sound of Luo Rui’s light snoring when he opened the door to his room, then he took a giant stride inside the covers and gave Luo Rui a big bear hug. “I’m freezing to death.”
Luo Rui was rudely awoken. “You scared me to death. I’d only just fallen asleep.”
“I1 only went out for a few minutes. You must sleep really well if all you need to do is to hit the pillow.”
“You’re just jealous.” Luo Rui groaned, “Why did you come back up so quickly?”
“Why else? It’s freezing outside.”
“You really didn’t do anything?”
“Shit. What could we have done? Make love?”
Luo Rui replied with a grin, “Are you really looking forward to that?”
“Piss off!” Wen Xiaohui pondered for a while, then he let out a laugh. “We kissed.”
“I already guessed that.” Luo Rui used all his strength to scratch Wen Xiaohui’s waist. “I’m going to annoy you to death!”
Wen Xiaohui laughed as he continued to dodge. He gasped for breath as he asked, “Help me make a cake… Haha.”
———————————-
The following day, Wen Xiaohui and his mum went to the police station first. The neighbourhood’s CCTV was available, but they were only able to capture the figure of a suspicious-looking person due to the low light. They were wearing a black jacket, a baseball cap, and sunglasses, and didn’t seem flustered leaving the neighbourhood.
The police officer said, “This thief is very confusing. It’s rare to have burglaries at 7 or 8 p.m. Most of them wait until 3 or 4 a.m. when people are in their deepest sleep or it happens during the day when people are at work. Thieves who commit burglary at that time of day usually do it spontaneously, but judging by their disguise, it was definitely not spontaneous.
“Had he been lying in wait for some time?” Wen Xiaohui felt himself tremble with fear. There was a saying that you don’t have to worry about thieves stealing from you, but you should worry about being in their thoughts. Whenever he recalled how a criminal secretly monitored his house, his whole body would break out in goosebumps.
“That’s very likely. Most people will be at home resting after dinner at around 7 or 8 p.m. How else would he be so sure that there wouldn’t be anyone at home?”
Feng Yuehua’s complexion looked a little pale as she nervously held Wen Xiaohui’s hand.
The police officer continued to ask some questions, telling them that he would be in touch if he had any information, then proceeded to let them leave.
As they left the police station, Feng Yuehua sighed repeatedly. “This wouldn’t have happened if your dad was still alive.”
Hearing these words, Wen Xiaohui felt distressed inside. He held his mum around the shoulder. “Mum, you need to think about the positives. Firstly, we’re all safe and sound. Secondly, we haven’t really lost much. You might drop a wallet when you’re out, so getting burgled isn’t that big a deal. After this incident, our neighbourhood security guards will be very vigilant.”
Feng Yuehua nodded. “You don’t need to work late after your promotion, so don’t go to your colleague’s house as much. You should come home more often.”
“I understand.”
“Your colleague mustn’t have gotten married in the past two years because she still lets you stay with her.”
“No, I gave her some money afterwards and she has a lot of spare rooms.”
“Oh.”
Wen Xiaohui observed his mum’s deeply worried expression. He felt an urge to tell her about Luo Yi, but he ended up holding his breath. However, there was only so long that he could continue to hide because he was about to inherit part of Yaya’s estate and the house. When the time came, he would definitely move into a nicer house and he would have to confess to his mum. He thought to himself, he would drag it out for as long as possible because he was terrified of facing his mum’s fury.
————————————-
Wen Xiaohui put in a lot of thought when it came to choosing Luo Yi’s 18th birthday present. Finally, he spent a month’s worth of salary to buy a fixed-gear mountain bike made from carbon fibre for Luo Yi. It was really stylish, a pale and metallic silver, and the total weight of the bicycle was only 5.5 kg2. Even Wen Xiaohui who had no interest in bicycles, thought it seemed very interesting.
He tied a pink bow and birthday card to the handlebar, and he asked the shopkeeper to deliver the bicycle to Luo Yi’s house on his birthday. Then, he went to Luo Rui’s house to make the cake and a few dishes. He finally had the chance to show off his cooking skills on Luo Yi’s birthday.
———-—————————
The day of Luo Yi’s birthday arrived in the blink of an eye.
Wen Xiaohui didn’t go to work and instead, he spent a whole morning giving himself a full-body spa and carefully applied a hint of makeup. He styled his hair and changed his clothes. When he saw himself in the mirror, he felt rather satisfied. He called a taxi to go to Luo Yi’s house.
As soon as Luo Yi opened the door, he saw Wen Xiaohui’s pale-pink cheeks and fine eyebrows, whose body emitted the faint fragrance of perfume. He was like a cake that had just come out of the oven – possessing the complete package of smell, look and taste.
“Happy 18th birthday!” Wen Xiaohui revealed his bright smile.
Luo Yi smiled as he said, “Thanks.”
Wen Xiaohui placed the cake and seafood that he was holding inside the kitchen. “I learned how to make a lot of dishes when I was in the US. I’ll show you my skills today.”
“Really?” Luo Yi leaned against the door as he smiled slightly. He said, “You’ve just had your nails done. How about I do it?”
“It’s fine. You’ve been cooking for me for over two years, so it’s my turn today. I guarantee that it’ll taste nice.” Wen Xiaohui hummed a tune as he began to cut the salmon.
“I’ll help you then.” Luo Yi assisted by rinsing the vegetables.
Wen Xiaohui turned his head to see Luo Yi beside him. Luo Yi’s slender and fair fingers moved between each of the emerald-coloured string beans. Rinsing vegetables was such a down-to-earth task, but Luo Yi still managed to give off an air of elegance. The gurgling sound of water combined with the tune coming from Wen Xiaohui’s lips instilled a sudden sense of harmony and peace – he felt extremely content. A fragile feeling of happiness surged in his chest.
“How do you plan to cook the string beans?” Luo Yi put the washed and trimmed beans into the basket.
“Stir-fry without sauce.” Wen Xiaohui flaunted a piece of plump and fresh salmon that he’d picked up. “Are my cutting skills worthy of praise? My Japanese housemate showed me how to cut along the grain of the salmon.”
“That’s amazing.” Luo Yi stood behind Wen Xiaohui with his head peeking over his shoulder before saying a single, “Ah.”
Wen Xiaohui tilted his head slightly. The side of Luo Yi’s handsome face was only two or three centimetres away from him – Luo Yi was so close that he nearly gasped in admiration of his smooth skin. In addition, there was a faint heat coming from underneath Luo Yi’s skin, which also made Wen Xiaohui’s face feel like it was burning. Wen Xiaohui’s heart started beating frantically for a short period of time. He stuffed the piece of salmon into Luo Yi’s mouth.
Luo Yi’s soft and gentle lips glided over Wen Xiaohui’s fingers. Their emotions surged in that short period of time – it was so brief that it could only be measured in seconds.
Wen Xiaohui lowered his head to disguise his feelings. He was about to resume his cutting of the salmon when Luo Yi suddenly grabbed his chin, forcing him to tilt his head up. The next second, Luo Yi kissed him with a hint of roughness. He violently sucked Wen Xiaohui’s lips, passion surging immediately and engulfing his mind.
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes widened. He really wasn’t used to Luo Yi being so daring all of a sudden.
Luo Yi pulled Wen Xiaohui’s body close to him, gripping his slender waist tightly. Luo Yi’s tongue domineeringly pushed Wen Xiaohui’s gums apart as it explored every inch of his mouth.
Wen Xiaohui was stunned. He wanted to push Luo Yi away, but Luo Yi held onto his wrist tightly. He was unable to move his body at all.
Luo Yi resembled a wild animal that had just been released from its cage. Wanting to devour Wen Xiaohui, Luo Yi used his imposing manner to lick Wen Xiaohui’s lips.
“No, don’t… Luo Yi…” Wen Xiaohui’s face blushed scarlet red. He found it difficult to adapt to the sudden change in Luo Yi and he tried his hardest to hit him.
It was only at that point Luo Yi ceased his plundering, but he still wouldn’t loosen the hand that was clamped on Wen Xiaohui’s waist. He panted, “Xiaohui-ge, am I not allowed to kiss you?”
Wen Xiaohui’s face was burning. “What’s wrong with you today? You’re really frightening.”
A lustful storm brewed in Luo Yi’s black pupils. “I’m already a man and you’re no longer my guardian. I don’t have to stop myself from doing what I want to you.”
Wen Xiaohui felt like blood was going to drip from his face. He struggled to speak for a while because he was speechless in the face of such a powerful Luo Yi.
Luo Yi grabbed his chin, using the tip of his tongue to trace over Wen Xiaohui’s swollen lips. “Xiaohui-ge, I want to kiss you to my heart’s content. I want to tear all your clothes off… Am I not allowed? Don’t you like me too?”
Wen Xiaohui’s voice trembled as he replied, “I… but…”
“You are in love with me or why else would you turn down Li Shuo?” Luo Yi chuckled as he said, “You look great today. Delectable. It doesn’t matter what present you got me – what I want most is you.”
Wen Xiaohui could only hear a buzzing noise in his head, as if it was about to explode.
Luo Yi… Was he really like this? No, it couldn’t be right. Luo Yi had a gentle smile and he was a meticulous person – the type who would innocently ask for a hug or a peck on the forehead and still feel shy. Who was this diabolical and overpowering person? He couldn’t deny that the current Luo Yi, who could make someone’s heart jump out of their chest, caused him to feel very helpless. He seemed to have discovered another side of Luo Yi. Luo Yi seemed to be multifaceted, but Wen Xiaohui hadn’t seen all of them.
Luo Yi gently nipped Wen Xiaohui’s lower lip. He said in a hoarse and suggestive voice, “Is it possible? I’d like to have a coming-of-age present? Can you give it to me?” His tone of voice possessed a hint of coquettishness.
Wen Xiaohui’s only wish was to summon Luo Rui to ask him for advice and to help him sort out his chaotic and mushy brain. He felt both nervous and embarrassed – he couldn’t even speak.
At that moment, he was saved by the ringing doorbell.
Luo Yi smiled and said, “Is that your present?”
Wen Xiaohui’s voice finally came back to him. “Yeah, go take a look quickly.”
Luo Yi reluctantly let go of Wen Xiaohui as he turned around to go open the door.
Wen Xiaohui had his back against the wall, taking in a few deep breaths. His face still felt unbearably hot.
The type of present that Luo Yi wanted the most…
Wen Xiaohui shook his head, thinking back to Luo Yi’s vigorous pectoral muscles and his strong arms. He secretly felt a sense of anticipation. Was tonight going to be his defining moment?
It didn’t seem too bad.
After a while, he could only hear some indistinct talking coming from the direction of the front door, but he didn’t hear any sounds of surprise from Luo Yi. Wen Xiaohui thought that it seemed odd. Did Luo Yi not like the bicycle?
As he was about to go into the living room to take a look, he heard the sound of some rushed footsteps coming towards the kitchen, or more accurately, it was the sound of running.
Wen Xiaohui didn’t even have time to react before Luo Yi charged into the kitchen with a vicious look on his face.
“What’s wrong, Luo Yi?” Wen Xiaohui felt a little frightened by Luo Yi’s sinister facial expression.
Luo Yi replied quickly, “Xiaohui-ge, you should go home now.”
“Huh?” Wen Xiaohui thought that he’d misheard.
“You should go home now.” Luo Yi repeated again in a commanding voice.
Wen Xiaohui was stunned. He asked absentmindedly, “Why?” Just a second ago, they were still hugging and kissing, and the mood was intense. The next second he was told to leg it. What the heck was that about?
Luo Yi didn’t bother to tell him anything, grabbing his arm to drag him outside.
A feeling of anger surged within Wen Xiaohui’s heart. What the fuck was going on? He shouted angrily, “Are you fucking crazy? We were just about to…”
The next second, he closed his mouth.
There were two people standing at the door and they were both wearing black suits. He’d seen one of them before – the bodyguard who delivered presents to him last year. He’d seen a photo of the other man on the third floor of Luo Yi’s villa – the photo which had been pierced repeatedly by Luo Yi’s arrow!
It was that person – Luo Yi’s father!
Wen Xiaohui suddenly felt his legs go weak.
Compared with the photo, the man looked taller and more imposing in person. His lips weren’t curved, forming a straight line. His eyes looked as sharp as a falcon’s with his gaze seemingly piercing through the flesh. Just feeling his aura was enough to make people feel as though their hearts were going into overdrive.
Luo Yi tried to stand sideways to block the view of Wen Xiaohui’s face, but it was clearly futile.
Wen Xiaohui no longer resisted and Luo Yi dragged him to the front door.
When Wen Xiaohui was walking past that man, he could sense that the man had lowered his head to glance at him. Wen Xiaohui felt the hair on his body standing on end.
After Luo Yi took Wen Xiaohui outside, he slammed the door in his face without saying a word.
Wen Xiaohui looked at the solid wooden door that was shut tightly and it took him a long time to come back to his senses.
He trembled as he walked down the stairs. He was like a lost soul as he left the villa.
The sense of oppression that he felt in his heart had only started to ease when he got to the front gates of the villa complex.
The man was so scary. They’d only meet face-to-face, but that was enough to terrify Wen Xiaohui. Luo Yi was still dealing with him at that moment in time… Was Luo Yi in danger? Why did the man come in person today? Was it related to the inheritance or did he purely come to see his son?”
Wen Xiaohui’s brain was in a complete muddle. The heartwarming and sweetness just now had been completely cleared away and the entire sky looked overcast. The 18th birthday that he and Luo Yi had been looking forward to for a long time had been completely ruined.
He patted his back pocket and discovered that he only had his mobile phone. He’d left his wallet at Luo Yi’s house. He couldn’t possibly go back to get it, so he had no choice but to take his phone out to call Luo Rui to collect him and put him up for the night. He knew that it was more than likely his mum would be spending the night at Ian’s house, but he didn’t have his house key. He wouldn’t be able to get in even if he went home.
He hadn’t expected that Luo Rui’s phone would actually be turned off when he dialled Luo Rui’s number. He cursed in anger, scaring the pedestrians who were passing.
What should he do now? He’d be so exhausted if he tried to walk home or walk to Luo Rui’s bakery. That bastard – Luo Rui! Why did he choose to turn his mobile phone off at such a crucial moment?!
He wandered around aimlessly on the street. It was early evening and it just so happened to be dinner time, as the fragrant smell of food wafted throughout the street. The passersby either had company or they were rushing to get around. They must have had plans, unlike him who was dazed and unsure of his next step.
He recalled how he’d been looking forward to this day for such a long time – the day he’d spent ages planning for. Ultimately, he ended up wandering the streets, unable to afford to even sit down on a bus. In addition, he was concerned for Luo Yi and he immediately felt upset. He felt like he’d been wronged and wanted to cry.
His mobile phone began to ring at this moment. He was full of anticipation as he took it out to take a look, but the call was from Li Shuo. He couldn’t help but feel disappointed inside, but then he decided that it would be a good opportunity to ask Li Shuo for help to drop him off at Luo Rui’s house.
“Hi, Li-dage.”
“Xiaohui.” Li Shuo’s voice was coming from somewhere that was noisy. You could tell straight away that he was in a bar or somewhere similar. He smiled as he said, “It’s my friend’s birthday and one of the guys who came to the party knows you. Do you want to come for a few drinks?”
“Oh? Who is it?”
“He’s called Haozi.”
Wen Xiaohui racked his brain and he finally remembered him. It was the guy that Luo Rui initially wanted to set him up with, but Wen Xiaohui wasn’t interested. “Yeah, I came across him before.” Wen Xiaohui hesitated briefly, but he really didn’t want to spend the day all alone. His current mood really needed improving with some noise and excitement. Therefore, he replied, “Yeah, I’ll come.”
“I’ll send you across the address.”
“Li-dage.”
“Yeah?”
Wen Xiaohui said as he felt embarrassed, “Erm, I left the house without my wallet. I’ll take a taxi over in a little while, but would you be able to pay the taxi fare on my behalf?”
Li Shuo chuckled, “You’re such a forgetful person. Come quickly.”
Wen Xiaohui took a taxi and he rushed to the bar.
———————————-
Li Shuo came out and paid for his taxi fare as soon as he arrived. Wen Xiaohui said shyly, “It’s so embarrassing3.”
Li Shuo stroked Wen Xiaohui’s head. “You’re dressed so beautifully today. You must be going on a date. How did you manage to forget your wallet?”
Wen Xiaohui sighed. “Let’s not talk about it. It’s been an inexplicable day.”
Li Shuo smiled. “Let’s not mention it then. Go inside and have a drink.”
“Let’s go!” Wen Xiaohui felt that he really needed to down a few glasses to relieve himself of the depression.
“Oh yeah, your friend…”
“Ah, he’s not my friend.” Wen Xiaohui explained, “We had a few drinks together once. Now that you mention it, it was the time I tried to hit on you at the bar.”
Li Shuo raised his eyebrows and replied, “It’s such a coincidence.”
“Yeah, it was two years ago. Time goes by so quickly.” Wen Xiaohui smiled. “I can still remember how you were so indifferent towards me.”
Li Shuo blinked. “Really?”
“You were. I still bear a grudge.”
Li Shuo chuckled, “You can take your revenge now.”
Wen Xiaohui suddenly felt somewhat embarrassed. He really shouldn’t have brought it up.
Li Shuo put his arm around Wen Xiaohui’s shoulder, helping him to dodge a drunk who nearly walked straight into him. Wen Xiaohui unintentionally breathed in the smell of alcohol mixed with cologne on Li Shuo’s body, and although it couldn’t be considered pleasant, it gave him a sense of security. Li Shuo was a mature and considerate person who could always provide him with a sense of security.
Li Shuo took him into the private room where a group of people were singing. Wen Xiaohui immediately noticed Haozi sitting in a corner. Haozi seemed to have put on some weight, but he still looked handsome overall. Haozi’s eyes lit up when he noticed Wen Xiaohui and he went over to greet him.
Wen Xiaohui smiled as he shook Haozi’s hand. “Long time no see.”
Haozi appeared as though he’d been drinking a lot and he was speaking with a bit of a lisp. “I saw you on TV the other day – you’re a makeup expert now.”
Wen Xiaohui giggled, “That’s an exaggeration. It’s just because of the visual effects of the show.”
“No matter what, you’re more beautiful and confident than before.” Haozi glanced at him tenderly. “I really regret not giving my all in pursuing you.”
Wen Xiaohui smiled slightly, feeling a little awkward in a room filled with strangers.
Li Shuo courteously looped his arm around Wen Xiaohui’s arm. “Come on, we should all sit down.” Once he finished speaking, he took the opportunity to seat Wen Xiaohui next to himself.
Haozi was dumbstruck, then a hint of annoyance appeared in his eyes.
Li Shuo introduced Wen Xiaohui to his friends, then they went to find a quiet spot in the corner to chat and have a few drinks.
“So, did Haozi try to pursue you in the past?”
“Not quite. He asked me out a couple of times after our first meeting. I heard from some friends that his affairs were quite messy, so I turned him down.”
Li Shuo smiled as he nodded. “Of course, you deserve much better.”
Wen Xiaohui felt more at ease after being complimented. However, his mood became more depressed when he thought of Luo Yi.
His facial expression didn’t escape Li Shuo’s attention. “What happened?”
Wen Xiaohui shook his head.
“Let me have a guess. You went out on a date today, but he stood you up. Am I right?”
Wen Xiaohui felt helpless as he replied, “Li-dage, certain things aren’t appropriate to say out loud. Can you just pretend you don’t know?”
Li Shuo smiled and said, “I’m sorry, but I feel a bit angry thinking about you getting stood up. You would have been better off dating me.”
Wen Xiaohui swished his glass around and downed it in one go. “Let’s not talk about it – it’s too annoying. Let’s drink.”
Li Shuo grabbed hold of his wrist. “There’s no need to drink so quickly. Do you want to get drunk?”
Wen Xiaohui was surprised and he withdrew his hand. He stayed silent and didn’t say a word.
Li Shuo said, “The person who was supposed to meet up with you – what’s he like? Is he really nice?”
Wen Xiaohui forced a smile. “He’s not as good as you.”
Li Shuo raised his eyebrows. “You mean he’s not as good as me, but you turned me down. It sounds like he’s better than me, which is even more depressing.”
Wen Xiaohui shook his head. “That’s not what I mean.”
Li Shuo heaved a sigh. “But you love him. Is that right?”
Wen Xiaohui looked at Li Shuo with a blank look on his face. “Sometimes, I can’t even tell if I’m in love with him. Or to put it another way, what is love? Li-dage, do you think I’m being too unreasonable?”
Footnotes:
The raws said you only went down for a few minutes, but I think this is a typo and corrected it to I. The sentences which follow make more sense with the correction.
11 Mainland catties which equates to 11 x 500g = 5.5kg.
This was worded as losing face in the raws.
