Additional Inheritance - Chap 65
Chapter 65
Trigger warning: Slight NSFW
The light of the dawning sun illuminated Wen Xiaohui’s face, making his cheeks feel warm and cosy. In his half-awake state, he used his hand to cover his face, but accidentally touched his nose. He wailed in pain and his eyes widened.
The room in his line of sight looked so familiar that even the position of each of the ornaments and the pattern on the curtains were clearly engraved in his mind because he’d slept there for three years.
It was Luo Yi’s bedroom.
Wen Xiaohui sat up as he stared blankly at the beam of light that snuck in through the gap in the curtains and he felt like he was amidst the clouds and mist1.
He shook his head, then got out of bed. He brushed his teeth and washed his face quietly. Facing the mirror, he looked at the large piece of gauze on his face and imagined what his nose might look like under it. His state of mind plummeted to an all-time low.
After he finished washing his face, he wanted to call the studio because he’d already taken a week’s holiday when he was in hospital and now it seemed like he needed to take a long break. He dug through his clothes, but he still couldn’t find his mobile phone. Perhaps Luo Yi had confiscated it.
He went downstairs to find Luo Yi.
————————————
Surprisingly, there were two unfamiliar and bulky men sitting in the living room. They were most likely bodyguards. They both stood up once when they saw Wen Xiaohui and nodded.
Seeing them reminded Wen Xiaohui of the bodyguard who broke his nasal bone with a punch. Instinctively, he felt scared and quickly turned away. “Where’s Luo Yi?”
“He just left and will be back soon.” One of the bodyguards said, “Your breakfast is on the table.”
Wen Xiaohui looked towards the dining table – there really were three insulated food boxes. He sat down at the table, opening the boxes containing the breakfast made with great care. There was every variety under the sun – from cereal to wheat-flour based foods, from meat to fruit. The presentation alone looked like a work of art. Back when the two of them got along, Luo Yi made stuff like this to coax him and sometimes Wen Xiaohui would bring his bento box to the studio, which made the young girls scream.
How many times did he think that he had the most perfect boyfriend in the world?
After holding his chopsticks in a daze, he lowered his head and started to eat.
Just as he finished eating, Luo Yi returned and flashed his beautiful smile after seeing that he’d nearly polished off his breakfast. “Xiaohui-ge, did it taste good? I ordered some dessert for you from Luo Rui’s bakery. It’ll be delivered in the afternoon.”
Wen Xiaohui cleaned his mouth. “Where’s my mobile phone? I want to call the studio and my mum.”
Luo Yi said a single ‘oh’ as he took the mobile phone from his pocket, handing it to Wen Xiaohui.
Wen Xiaohui took the mobile phone and turned to go upstairs.
———————————
First, he called Liu Xing to request holiday after telling him how he needed to recuperate from his injury. Luckily, the operation of the studio had reached a state of maturity and his absence didn’t matter. Liu Xing gladly gave him a month off.
Following on from that, he gave his mum a call. His mum grumbled about his reckless drinking, his willfulness, and how he stopped living at home after he started earning money. Wen Xiaohui listened, but he felt dejected from the criticism and suddenly felt like crying.
“When will you be back from your work trip?”
“Maybe next month. I told you already that my company opened seven new stores and I have to follow my boss around and give talks at every one of them. I’ll be back once they’re over. Don’t worry, I’ll still come to your wedding even if I have to toil away for hours.
Feng Yuehua snorted: “I’m extremely busy over here and you’re not even helping.”
Wen Xiaohui smiled as he said, “I’ll give you money as support.”
They chatted about the wedding until more than half an hour had passed. In particular, Wen Xiaohui liked hearing his mum’s plans for the future because it made him feel very happy.
After he ended the call, Wen Xiaohui held the burning hot mobile phone in his hand and he suddenly felt a strong sense of worry. Chang Xing couldn’t possibly harm his family. He would fight Chang Xing to the death if he dared to hurt his mum or Luo Rui.
He hesitated briefly as he thought of Luo Rui, then he dialled his number.
Luo Rui picked up quickly and he said nervously, “Hi, Xiaohui.”
Pretending to be relaxed, Wen Xiaohui said, “Baby, I’m okay.”
Luo Rui took a deep breath. “Where are you? Why didn’t you go home? Is it because Luo Yi won’t let you go home?”
“… I have some issues, which are temporary.”
“Don’t lie to me!” said Luo Rui harshly.
Wen Xiaohui sighed: “Luo Rui, Luo Yi can find out every single word we’ve said. He started tapping my phone from the start.”
Luo Rui inhaled deeply. He couldn’t say anything for a while.
“Listen to me, don’t worry about me. Eat what you gotta eat and drink what you gotta drink. Be extra cautious when you’re driving to and from work. Don’t go to those dodgy places. I’ll come find you after a while.”
Luo Rui suddenly became choked up with emotion. “Tell me, Xiaohui, are you in danger? What kind of person is Luo Yi? Why is he so scary? What actually happened to your nose? You two… What’s actually going on between you?”
Wen Xiaohui’s heart felt aggrieved. He said quietly, “It’s not as bad as you think but I can’t give you the details. In any case, I’m okay, so don’t worry.”
“If you’re okay then why aren’t you home? He’s not letting you go home.”
“I promise I’ll go home after a bit.” As Wen Xiaohui said these words, his tongue suddenly felt a bit odd. How could he make that promise? He couldn’t even guarantee that he’d be able to attend his own mother’s wedding.
After consoling Luo Rui for a bit, Wen Xiaohui quickly hung up.
Luo Yi opened the door and went inside with a fruit platter in his hand. “Are you finished with your call?”
Wen Xiaohui replied coolly, “You’ve finished listening in too.”
Luo Yi smiled: “Don’t worry about them. At this crucial moment, Chang Xing is unlikely to have the energy to cause any trouble. Even if he does, I’ve got people secretly protecting them.”
“How much longer do I need to live in fear?”
“It won’t be too long.” Luo Yi put the fruit platter in front of Wen Xiaohui. “Try some.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“I want to feed you until you’re a bit fatter.” Luo Yi’s expression was brimming with gentleness, with a youthful and handsome smile. It was like a refreshing and pleasing breeze. Who would have known that a demon was hiding underneath?
Wen Xiaohui pushed him away as he got up to leave. Luo Yi’s presence made the air seem muggy and dense, rendering it difficult for him to breathe.
Luo Yi stretched his arm and hooked it around Wen Xiaohui’s waist to drag him back, forcing him to sit on his lap. Luo Yi’s nose gently nuzzled his neck. “You smell nice – it’s the shampoo that we bought last time.”
Wen Xiaohui straightened his body, then distanced himself from Luo Yi. “What do you want?”
“I want to give you a hug.” Luo Yi’s fingers glided over his smooth cheeks until he reached Wen Xiaohui’s sexy clavicle that was peeking out of his round-neck collar. “You look really cute.”
Wen Xiaohui tore Luo Yi’s hand away as he said indignantly, “How can you act like nothing’s happened?”
Luo Yi’s hand froze midair, then he changed his mind and placed it around Wen Xiaohui’s waist. He whispered, “I really wish that none of this had happened.”
Wen Xiaohui sneered, “Stop pretending. Did you think about that the first time you lied to me? If you had to choose again, you’d still do the same. Luo Yi, I won’t believe another word you say.”
Luo Yi buried his face at the base of Wen Xiaohui’s neck and took a deep breath of his scent. He mumbled, “I do wish that none of this had happened. I wish that we’d met under normal circumstances and had a normal and carefree start to our relationship. We can fall in love with each other without any reservations.”
Wen Xiaohui snorted in derision. He wanted to struggle out of Luo Yi’s hug again, but Luo Yi tightened his arms, not allowing him to go.
Wen Xiaohui said in anger, “Stop being so fucking disgusting and let me go.”
“I won’t let you go.”
Wen Xiaohui opened his mouth and took a bite of his shoulder. He clamped down as hard as he could.
Luo Yi recoiled in pain, but he didn’t do anything to stop Wen Xiaohui and allowed him to vent all the suffering in his heart.
The more Wen Xiaohui continued biting, the more he felt unable to let go of his hatred – he regretted that he couldn’t tear a chunk of flesh from Luo Yi’s shoulder. He continued biting until his teeth became aching and numb, and he tasted the slightly coppery stench of blood before he finally gasped for breath and let go.
Luo Yi whispered, “You’re not strong enough, you need to eat more.”
Wen Xiaohui shouted sternly, “Quickly let go of me!”
Luo Yi didn’t let go, turning around to press Wen Xiaohui onto the bed. He seemed in a hurry as he sealed Wen Xiaohui’s lips.
Wen Xiaohui’s limbs struggled, but they were soon held down by Luo Yi. Using one hand, he unscrupulously slipped under Wen Xiaohui’s clothes to caress his warm skin longingly.
All of Luo Yi’s body weight rested on Wen Xiaohui. Wen Xiaohui became aware of something hard pressing into him – something that seemed to have sprung up and it was full of vigour.
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes widened. He slapped Luo Yi hard across the face as he cursed, “You bastard. Do you fucking want to force yourself on me?!”
The slap not only dissipated Luo Yi’s passion, it seemed to leave him stumped. He tilted his head to one side and it took him a while to come back to his senses.
Wen Xiaohui panted noisily and stared at Luo Yi in surprise and rage.
Luo Yi gradually turned his face – his pupils were pitch black, resembling a bottomless well. “Xiaohui-ge, I’ve missed you… Before I met you, I wasn’t interested in anyone – male or female. I’ve seen Chang Xing and my mum having sex before and I thought it was disgusting. It was like the mating of a lowly worm. But you’re different, I want to strip you naked as soon as I see you and I want to fuck you when I smell your scent. Seeing you in those pyjamas in front of me, I could make love to you all night. After you left, there were so many times when I wanted to bring you back and fuck you until you couldn’t get out of bed, so you’re unable to leave my sight.”
Luo Yi’s face was devoid of emotion as he spoke – he didn’t seem violent nor irritable. It was like he was discussing a serious matter with a solemn and paranoid look in his eyes. He was so calm that it almost seemed callous. It made Wen Xiaohui tremble nervously and the only thing he could believe was the fact that Luo Yi really did want to fuck him.
Luo Yi lowered his head to kiss him. “I don’t want to force you.” His kiss shifted from his lips to his cheek, settling finally on Wen Xiaohui’s earlobe. He said softly, “But I don’t want to have to wait too long. I’m worried I might scare you if I lose my patience.”
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes widened, cold sweat appeared on his forehead and his lips quivered. Luo Yi’s figure was tall and sturdy, nothing like the youth that he used to be. The mere difference in physique created a strong sense of oppression for Wen Xiaohui, let alone the fact that Luo Yi’s presence invoked Wen Xiaohui’s trauma. He experienced both hatred and fear.
Luo Yi stood up, pulling Wen Xiaohui up from the bed with him. He carefully rearranged Wen Xiaohui’s clothes and said, “I might not be able to spend time with you in the next few days. Tell the bodyguards if there’s anything you need and try not to take matters into your own hands.”
Wen Xiaohui pushed him away, turning to run into the bathroom. He closed the door with a bang.
Luo Yi looked at the door – the symbol of rejection, and his eyes dimmed.
Over the next few days, Luo Yi left the house early, returning only when it was late. Sometimes, he went as far as not coming home for an entire day and it made Wen Xiaohui feel more relaxed. Every minute and every second spent dealing with Luo Yi made it difficult for him to breathe.
During this period of time, the doctor visited once to reapply the dressing. When the dressing was changed, Wen Xiaohui was finally able to take a glance at his nose. The swelling had gone down in other areas of his face, but his nose was still really swollen. His nasal bridge wasn’t completely fractured but the crack was very deep. His nose was obviously crooked, needing two or three operations to fix it and he might even need filler. He’d always felt confident about his face. Even if nine out of ten floozies around him had plastic surgery, the thought had never occurred to him and he never expected that one day he’d be forced under the knife.
The doctor switched the gauze for a smaller one and he looked a lot more normal. However, he couldn’t stop himself from staring into the mirror and crying.
After he got tired from all the crying, he wanted to give Luo Rui a call. His mobile phone started to ring as soon as he picked it up. When he looked at the caller display, it happened to be Li Shuo calling.
He and Li Shuo didn’t keep in touch ever since that time. It was as he’d expected, Li Shuo must have completely given up on him and he didn’t think he’d receive a call from him again. He stared blankly at the name for a few seconds, then he chose to reject the call.
He still recalled what Luo Yi had said, so he didn’t want Li Shuo to be implicated.
Contrary to his expectations, Li Shuo didn’t give up and continued to call him in quick succession. He didn’t dare to pick up Li Shuo’s call. He was in a terrible mood. He was worried that he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from sobbing to Li Shuo and that would be too awful.
The ringing of the mobile phone stopped after a while and he received a text message.
Wen Xiaohui opened it to see Li Shuo asking him: Are you okay? Do you need any help?
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes felt warm, his vision became blurry. After hesitating briefly, he replied with the message: Li-dage, I’m fine, but we shouldn’t contact each other anymore.
The mobile phone didn’t ring again.
Wen Xiaohui felt exhausted as he laid on his back on the bed, thinking of Li Shuo’s gentleman-like and refined smile. His heart felt hollow, but he’d chosen to walk down this path. He gave up Li Shuo and chose to be with Luo Yi, which was how he ended up in this state. What a joke!
Luo Yi came home not long afterwards, going straight to the bedroom as soon as he went inside the house. Seeing Wen Xiaohui perfectly alright in the bedroom, he let out a sigh of relief.
Wen Xiaohui gave him a cold stare, but he didn’t say anything.
Luo Yi said, “Li Shuo called you. What did he want?”
“I don’t know.”
“Hasn’t he given up yet?” Luo Yi’s expression was frosty. He squinted slightly, which made others feel a sense of danger.
“Don’t even think about Li Shuo!” Wen Xiaohui stood straight up. “There’s nothing between me and Li Shuo. Stay away from him.”
Luo Yi crossed his arms as he leaned against the wall. “If he’s able to stay away from you, then I’ll stay away from him. You were right to reject him outright. I really hate him and if he still doesn’t give up, I’ll force him to give up.”
Wen Xiaohui clenched his fists. “Luo Yi, don’t make me hate you even more.”
Luo Yi was a bit surprised. He turned and left the bedroom.

As well the literal meaning of being amidst the clouds and mist, 云里雾里 is an idiom which means that someone is puzzled.
