Additional Inheritance - Chap 80
Chapter 80 (M)
Luo Rui sobbed like a kid who’d just found their mother. Wen Xiaohui sniffed. He wondered why Luo Rui had suddenly appeared and looked at Luo Yi.
Luo Yi shrugged. “I didn’t ask him to come, he’s the one who called me.”
Luo Rui sobbed, “I just wanted to see you… I won’t feel at ease until I see you.”
Wen Xiaohui sighed, “I’ve already told you I’m okay.”
Luo Rui held Wen Xiaohui’s face in his hands and carefully examined him. “You have fine lines under your eyes.”
“That’s fucking bullshit.” Wen Xiaohui covered his eyes nervously.
Luo Rui giggled until tears streamed from his eyes. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Wen Xiaohui kneaded Luo Rui’s face. “Okay, stop crying. I haven’t seen you in ages, let me see how beautiful you are.”
Luo Rui wiped away his tears, turning to glance at Luo Yi with a look of hostility. “Let’s go inside to chat.”
As if nothing had happened, Luo Yi said courteously and gracefully, “You guys chat. I’m going to prepare some salad.”
Luo Rui led Wen Xiaohui by the hand to the bedroom.
Once the door was closed, Luo Rui asked anxiously, “How did he find you?”
“He was going to find me sooner or later.” Wen Xiaohui smiled slightly. “Did you really think I could hide forever?”
Luo Rui looked sad. They both knew that Wen Xiaohui had his mum and his family, so he couldn’t possibly stay away. Biting his lip, he asked, “What should we do now?”
“What can I do? The past is behind us, and I’ve since calmed down. I think Luo Yi has genuinely changed a lot and I want to see how he behaves.”
Luo Rui’s eyes widened. “Y-You want to get back together with him?”
Wen Xiaohui smiled without saying anything. He’d already made up his mind that he wouldn’t let his mum, Luo Rui, or Li Shuo worry about him again. He didn’t want innocent people to get caught up in this because of him. It wasn’t anyone’s duty to help him. He couldn’t let Luo Rui and Li Shuo bear the brunt of that psycho’s anger – it should be left to him since it was his own business.
“Wen Xiaohui, have you gone crazy?” Luo Rui shouted, “He’s not normal – he’s really dangerous and scary. He’s been lying to you all this time, so why do you want to get back together with him?”
Wen Xiaohui pinched Luo Rui’s cheek. “Don’t worry, he’s really good to me right now. After giving it some thought, I probably won’t meet anyone who treats me better than him, so why wouldn’t I give him another chance?”
Luo Rui looked at him in disbelief. “Is there something wrong with your brain? Are you serious?”
“I’m serious.” Wen Xiaohui said confidently, “Luo Yi’s very determined and I feel moved by it. I think he has really changed – he’s really good to me.” He almost believed himself.
Luo Rui opened his mouth and stared at Wen Xiaohui for a while. Afterwards, he lowered his head and pondered for a long time before he lifted his head. “Xiaohui, you know I’ve always been an indecisive person. I think everything you do or say is right and I’ll do anything you tell me to do, but this time… I don’t think you’re right. No matter how much Luo Yi’s changed, it can’t erase what he’s done in the past, and I don’t think he will change. Have you forgotten how he puts on an act? Can you still trust him?”
Wen Xiaohui smiled and said, “You should listen to me again this time.”
“Of course I want you to be right, but I feel really worried…”
“I don’t have anything for him to take advantage of. I think he has feelings for me, so we can give it another go. That’s what I told Li-dage too. If I see my mum, I’d tell her the same.”
Luo Rui covered his face dejectedly and said in low spirits, “I don’t think that’s right. Something’s not right.”
Wen Xiaohui rubbed Luo Rui’s fluffy little curls. His eyes were filled with an indescribable sadness. He muttered, “Nothing is ever black and white.” He’d chosen this path, so he had to follow it to the end. He might be spending his days in a muddle, but it was better than letting Luo Yi harm others. He didn’t know what the future held – he didn’t even know what tomorrow would bring. He only knew there was a strong possibility that he couldn’t be helped, so he couldn’t involve anyone else.
There was a knock on the bedroom door. Luo Yi came in carrying two portions of fruit salad, placing them in the middle. He smiled as he said, “I made the yoghurt myself, you should try it.”
Wen Xiaohui picked one up and passed it to Luo Rui. “Try it.”
Luo Rui hesitated to accept and Luo Yi gave him a warm smile as if he’d completely forgotten the whole kidnapping incident. He was most frightened of Luo Yi’s fake kindness, but he couldn’t figure out what Wen Xiaohui was up to.
Luo Yi sat beside Wen Xiaohui as he asked gently, “What would you like to eat tonight?”
“Whatever.”
“I’ll make skewers then. What if I make it a little spicy?”
Wen Xiaohui’s heart pounded. “Okay.”
Back when Luo Yi was still at school, they ate hotpot frequently at Luo Rui’s bakery and tried almost every variety. It really was the best of times. Luo Yi was still an obedient kid and addressed him as Luo Rui-ge. Luo Rui treated him like a kid, and sometimes, he’d even tease him a little. Now that things had changed, it was difficult for him to accept.
“I’m going out to buy something. Feel free to chat.”
After Luo Yi left, Luo Rui clearly looked more relaxed. He took a bite of the salad and said softly, “Luo Yi’s capable of pretending to be anyone people want him to be.”
“I know.”
“Aren’t you scared?”
I am scared. Really scared. Wen Xiaohui said to himself. He shook his head, but didn’t say anything.
Luo Rui sighed, “Baby, I hope you’re also right this time – you’re usually right. You can’t get this wrong.”
Wen Xiaohui smiled as he said, “Don’t worry.”
“When are you going back to Beijing?”
“’I’m in no rush. I have things I need to sort out at my studio, so it’ll be a while. I’ve sent my mum an email to explain. She might be coming back in a while.”
Luo Rui nodded. “How long are you staying? How about I stay here with you?”
“I’m not sure. You need to keep an eye on your bakery; you can’t spend that long here.”
“The bakery’s the same as before – it doesn’t matter whether I’m there or not.” Luo Rui leaned on Wen Xiaohui. “I haven’t seen you in such a long time, I have a lot to tell you.”
“Me too.” Wen Xiaohui recounted his experiences over the past year and a bit, but there wasn’t a lot to say. He felt as though he’d spent the past 500 days in a daze and sometimes he couldn’t even remember what he’d done. After he left Beijing, his mind was in a state of emptiness. The time he spent in Pengcheng was meaningless to him – it wasn’t worth remembering.
Luo Rui listened quietly. The time they spent separated didn’t make them feel distant at all and instead, it made them feel even closer. As always, they had an endless supply of things to talk about.
When Wen Xiaohui finished talking, he asked, “What about you? How have you been?”
Luo Rui ran his fingers through his hair. “Okay.”
Wen Xiaohui thought something was up when he heard this. “What do you mean by okay? Is there something you’re not telling me?”
Luo Rui laughed at himself. “No, but there isn’t much to say.”
“Tell me. Tell me. Tell me! Don’t speak in such a roundabout way.”
“Do you remember the young handsome guy who came to my store frequently?”
“I remember him. What’s up with you two?”
“I psyched myself up to give him a call. I gave him some free cake and asked him out twice…” Luo Rui blushed slightly. “But he doesn’t like me at all. After he found out my purpose, he seemed to dislike me.”
“He has no taste. You have no taste either. Besides being good-looking, what’s attractive about him?”
Luo Rui smiled and said, “He’s a nice guy. A particularly good-looking and nice guy.”
“Because he once helped you chase away a hooligan?”
Luo Rui nodded and said like a teenage girl, “I believe in love at first sight.”
Wen Xiaohui said helplessly, “You’re nearly 25 years old. Can you be less naive or do you want to be a virgin for the rest of your life?
Luo Rui pouted, “I don’t want that either.”
Hearing Luo Rui recall bits and pieces of his daily life like a young lady, Wen Xiaohui felt as though his heart was softening. He wished that time would stand still at this moment, because it made him feel as though nothing had changed. It felt like the afternoons in the past when he chatted with Luo Rui, carefree and without any worries.
Unfortunately, they were dragged back to reality as soon as Luo Yi stepped through the door.
Luo Yi bought a lot of food which he started preparing in the kitchen. Neither of them were in the mood to chat anymore, so Luo Rui helped Wen Xiaohui to tidy and pack his things in preparation for sending back to Beijing.
Luo Yi finished making the hot pot and invited them to dinner.
The soup base of the hot pot was the type they used often in the past, and even the skewers had been chosen according to their preferences. Luo Yi’s thoughtfulness was sometimes terrifying.
As well as food, there were also two bottles of wine that they both really liked.
Looking at them both, Luo Yi smiled and said, “As soon as I came out of the supermarket, there happened to be a store selling this brand of wine.”
Luo Rui turned his head, finding it difficult to disguise his anger towards Luo Yi. However, he had a cowardly personality, so he was scared of Luo Yi.
Luo Yi pulled the chair out. “Come and take a seat. It’s nearly ready, so you can start eating.” He set out the bowls, poured out the dipping sauces, and poured the wine for them.
To help Luo Rui feel less awkward, Wen Xiaohui kept putting food into Luo Rui’s bowl, chatting and drinking with him. Luo Yi was almost invisible at the dining table. No one responded, but Luo Yi’s expression didn’t look out of the ordinary as he helped them to top up the hot pot.
Gradually, Wen Xiaohui and Luo Rui drank more and more. At the height of their drunken stupor, they became emotional and less restrained in their drinking. Finally, Luo Rui hugged Wen Xiaohui and asked him to go home with him. He’d completely forgotten that Luo Yi was beside them.
“Both of you should stop drinking and have some tea to clear your heads.” Luo Yi poured tea for them, but they turned a deaf ear.
Luo Yi got up and started to clear the table. Wen Xiaohui and Luo Rui were still talking gibberish – they hadn’t seen each other in such a long time that they had an endless supply of words to exchange.
Luo Rui looked as though he was going to fall asleep when Luo Yi had finally cleared the entire table. The two bottles of wine were empty. Luo Yi helped him up and took him to the bed in the guest room.
When Luo Yi came back for Wen Xiaohui, Wen Xiaohui had already got up by himself to lie on the sofa.
Luo Yi patted Wen Xiaohui’s face and whispered, “Xiaohui-ge, if you want to sleep, you should sleep in bed.”
Wen Xiaohui’s eyes opened a sliver as he mumbled, “Where’s Luo Rui?”
“He’s gone to bed. You should go to bed as well.”
Wen Xiaohui closed his eyes, seemingly wanting to sleep here. He was so drunk that he couldn’t manage to walk a few steps.
Luo Yi just picked him up. Wen Xiaohui struggled a little, before going along with it.
When they arrived at the bedroom, Luo Yi pinched Wen Xiaohui’s face. “Go have a bath. You smell like hot pot and wine, and you’ll be annoyed tomorrow if you just go to sleep like that.”
Wen Xiaohui shook his head.
The corners of Luo Yi’s lips curled into a smile. “I can help wash you.”
Wen Xiaohui collapsed on the bed.
Luo Yi filled the bathtub with water, then came out to strip all the clothes off Wen Xiaohui, who had already fallen asleep. Looking at Wen Xiaohui’s pale body, his Adam’s apple couldn’t help bobbing up and down, and his gaze became heavy.
He picked up Wen Xiaohui gently and placed him into the bathtub.
Wen Xiaohui frowned as soon as his body was submerged in water, and he opened his eyes. He was a bit disorientated as he looked around, before realising that he was naked in the bathtub and Luo Yi was naked outside it.
Luo Yi poured water over Wen Xiaohui. “You can continue sleeping, I’ll wash you.” His smile seemed enigmatic, like the immature beauty of his teenage years.
Wen Xiaohui was initially stunned, then he struggled and tried to get up. Unfortunately, the bathtub was too slippery and he fell back down after his foot slipped. One half of his buttocks became numb.
“Stop moving, you’re drunk.” Luo Yi grabbed onto Wen Xiaohui’s shoulder to stop him from drowning.
“You… Get out. I’ll wash myself.” Wen Xiaohui batted Luo Yi’s hand away.
“You’ve been drinking, I can’t let you take a bath by yourself.” Luo Yi just stepped into the bathtub.
Wen Xiaohui was so anxious that he wanted to sit upright, but his waist was floppy and had no strength. “What are you doing?”
Luo Yi kissed him on the cheek. “I’m helping you bathe.” His hand had already reached an unspeakable place.
“Mmm…” Wen Xiaohui’s body became taut. He hadn’t had sex in two years. During those three months when he and Luo Yi were inseparable, they indulged in pleasure almost every night. He’d gone from gorging on meat every day to two years of plain congee and veggies. He hadn’t recovered from the psychological pain, but he still had to endure the physiological drought. Under Luo Yi’s provocation, he felt as though his suppressed nerves had been awakened and there was no way of stopping.
Luo Yi’s breathing became heavier. Hadn’t he been craving Wen Xiaohui’s body for the longest time? He never used to be interested in matters of the flesh, but Wen Xiaohui was the exception. He wished that he could devour him. He’d waited too long, and when the air was completely filled with Wen Xiaohui’s scent, he felt as though he could no longer control his bestial nature, but he’d continued to restrain himself. This evening, nothing could make him stop.
Warm water improved circulation, helping to spread the alcohol to every part of Wen Xiaohui’s body, making him feel even more drunk. Feeling muddled, his rationality was completely overtaken by instinct.
The temperature rose in the bathroom. Water in the bathtub swirled until it gurgled, and the intermittent, low and hoarse breaths were enough to make people’s ears redden and their hearts pound.
