Be My Baby - Vol.2 Chapter 6 Part 3
At the abruptly and coldly ended call, Seonwoo, sitting on the sofa with his phone in hand, let out a long sigh. He had expected it to some extent, but hearing directly that he was going to the hotel again today, while he understood, he couldn’t help feeling a bit hurt in one corner of his heart. Although this person had never particularly liked him, it was the first time he had kept such a distance. And above all, the fact that he was tiring him out weighed heavily on his mind.
“I did cling to him a lot…”
In fact, he had endured for quite a long time at this point. Staying like this wouldn’t change the answer anyway, and it wouldn’t create even a small possibility of things working out. Thinking that he had just wasted time and caused trouble due to pointless stubbornness, he felt a bit depressed. He had already been rejected anyway, and things had just gotten a bit complicated because of the baby in between… but the conclusion was still the same. So now, he just needed to make up his mind. Just as he was about to start sorting out his feelings, suddenly the intercom rang. Startled by that sound he was hearing for the first time since coming to this house, he got up and approached the front door to check the intercom. Eunsoo’s face appeared on the screen.
“Ack!”
Surprised by that terrifying face visible on the screen, he couldn’t bring himself to press the call button and just stood there. Then the loud ringing sound came again. He must have gotten upset and come rushing over after they parted like that last night and he didn’t answer his calls. Sensing Eunsoo’s fierce energy, as if he would grab his hair and pull it out the moment he saw his face, Seonwoo started pacing around restlessly. The housekeeper had just left after work, so he was currently the only one in the house. And Eunsoo probably knew that and came. But he was scared to open the door for Eunsoo, yet if he didn’t open it, he seemed like he would keep ringing the bell until he did.
“Ah… I shouldn’t have gone…”
Feeling regretful that he had unnecessarily gone out and run into Eunsoo yesterday, he kept pacing in front of the entrance when suddenly the phone in his hand started ringing. Startled by that sound, he looked at his phone to see the name ‘Kang Eunsoo’ displayed. And on the intercom screen, Eunsoo could be seen holding his phone. Attacked simultaneously through his hand, eyes, and ears, he quickly put his phone inside the shoe cabinet by the entrance and covered the intercom with his hand. Then, closing his eyes tightly, he muttered.
“Go away, go away. Just leave…”
Knowing that while Eunsoo was usually a very good friend, he became a demon when it came to matters related to Eungyo, Seonwoo desperately prayed over and over. Please go away, don’t come back, he waited, and after a while, the intercom bell stopped. And at the same time, the phone ringing inside the shoe cabinet also stopped. In the sudden silence that fell, Seonwoo opened his tightly shut eyes and slightly moved the fingers covering the screen. Breathing a sigh of relief at the now black screen of the turned-off intercom, he removed his hand completely. But just as he was about to exhale in relief, the bell started ringing again. And on the reactivated screen, writing on a small memo pad could be seen.
‘I know you’re in there, open the door.’
At that brief sentence, Seonwoo gasped and swallowed hard. As the bell kept ringing continuously, he started pacing around in front of the entrance, stomping his feet.
“What should I do… What should I do?”
He had luckily managed to get through yesterday, but given his personality, he would spill everything as soon as Eunsoo pressed him even a little. Suddenly, Seyoon’s words that Eunsoo would hire a killer if he found out shook his brain.
“Gasp…”
Startled for a moment, he looked at the intercom screen again to see Eunsoo’s face with gritted teeth.
“Go away, please just go away…”
Surely he couldn’t get into the building if he didn’t open the door. But knowing Eunsoo’s personality, he would keep ringing the bell until the door opened. Just as he was wondering how to disconnect the intercom, even considering cutting the power cord, the bell sound suddenly stopped. And then this time, both his phone in the shoe cabinet and the intercom started ringing simultaneously. At that terrifying noise, Seonwoo fell into a state of panic. Kang Eunsoo is scary. Usually, she’s nice because he resembles Eungyo hyung, but once he gets angry, he becomes a demon. Even in high school, he was a scary person when he lost his temper once. And he can’t handle that. Repeating “What should I do, what should I do” over and over, Seonwoo, following his instincts, muttered softly.
“Let’s run away…”

After dinner, Eungyo, who had come to the hotel and asked for sleep aids as his brother suggested, took a shower, changed into comfortable clothes, and first sat down in a chair. Although soaking in hot water had relieved some of his fatigue, he still felt on edge, so he opened the refrigerator door and took out a water bottle to take the medication. In that incredibly peaceful atmosphere, he opened the small medicine bottle brought by the staff, took out one pill, and swallowed it with the cold water. Then he went straight to the bed, lay down, and placed his phone face down on the bedside table before covering himself with the blanket and trying to sleep. Fervently praying that today he wouldn’t dream of Seonwoo running around naked, or if he had to dream, that he could go all the way to the end, he fell asleep like that.
On an afternoon when work ended early for once and he had leisurely finished dinner, just as Seyoon was about to open the documents he had brought, he heard his phone ringing from inside the bag on the sofa. He opened the bag and took out the phone. And when he checked the number, an unfamiliar one was displayed. Thinking it might be a consultation call, he casually pressed the call button.
“Hello, this is Jeon Seyoon.”
“I’m in front of your house. Lend me some taxi fare.”
At first, Seyoon didn’t recognize who the voice on the other end was. So he checked the number again. But it was an unknown number.
“I think you’ve called the wrong number.”
“It’s me, me. Lee Seonwoo. I’m in front of your apartment. Lend me some taxi fare.”
It was definitely Seonwoo’s voice. And the way of speaking and acting was exactly like Lee Seonwoo. But for a moment, Seyoon hesitated. He thought that if he went down now to give the taxi fare and brought this guy up, he would get involved again. As he hesitated for a moment, Seonwoo’s voice came through again.
“If you don’t want to come down, should I come up with the driver?”
At Seonwoo’s words implying that if Seyoon didn’t want to come, he would go up, Seyoon pressed his forehead. It wasn’t something to be happy about, having blocked his phone when they already knew each other’s workplace and home. Even though he had blocked his number, after being quiet for a while, the fact that he came all the way to his house asking for taxi fare meant he must have caused some trouble… but he really didn’t want to open the door. And he didn’t want to answer the phone either. But if he hung up now, this was a guy who would definitely show up at his doorstep with the taxi driver, so Seyoon had no choice but to give in.
“Wait.”
Lamenting what he must have done to this guy in a past life to suffer like this, Seyoon eventually found his wallet and trudged out of the house towards the elevator. Actually, he really didn’t want to get involved or care anymore, but he had no choice.
“Damn… I don’t know anymore…”
Thinking it might be wrong to try to shake this guy off, Seyoon got into the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

Eungyo, who had just briefly fallen asleep, was awakened by a vibration coming from beside him. In the middle of a rare deep sleep without dreams, at that vibration, he reached out his hand to pick up his phone and check the number, only to find an unexpected name displayed.
“Free Housing?”
Free Housing was definitely the security company for the house, but wondering what could be the matter for the security company to suddenly call, he checked the time to see it was just past midnight. Thinking there might be a problem with the system, he suddenly remembered that Seonwoo was alone in the house right now. He quickly pressed the call button.
“Yes.”
“This is Free Housing. Is this Kang Eungyo?”
“Yes. What’s the matter?”
“Are you currently at home?”
“No, I’m out. But what’s the matter?”
“The door has been left open since around 6 PM.”
“The door?”
“Yes. The security system hasn’t been activated, and the front door has been left open from the inside for over 6 hours. Based on the fact that neither the motion sensors nor heat sensors have been triggered, there shouldn’t be any problems, but just in case, please check the door status as soon as possible.”
At the polite man’s request, Eungyo sat up abruptly in bed and asked back.
“There’s no one in the house?”
“That’s correct. There’s been no response from either motion or heat sensors. If the door had been opened from outside and not closed, we would have received an alert immediately, but it seems the door was opened normally from inside and then not closed, which is why the confirmation was delayed. The security system isn’t activated either.”
Wondering what it meant that there was no one in the house, he decided to end the call for now.
“…I’ll check and get back to you.”
“Yes, please do.”
After ending the call like that, Eungyo immediately tried calling Seonwoo’s phone. Thinking that he might be doing something else with the door open, as he was quite capable of handling the security system, he called, but the call didn’t connect. Wondering if he might already be asleep, but then realizing that if so, he would definitely trigger the heat sensor, it was strange that there was no response. Suddenly, a thought occurred to him. He had definitely said he would stay at home, but could he have run off somewhere again?
Hurriedly accessing the security system through his phone, he connected to the internal cameras. First checking the inside of the entrance, he saw an empty corridor. Due to the darkness, the camera had switched to infrared mode, showing an empty corridor. Just in case, he turned the camera to the living room, but it too was dark and empty. It was empty from every angle. At this point, he started to get worried. It was already midnight, past the time that guy would usually be passed out asleep. Given that his sleep had increased along with his appetite due to the pregnancy, and he would usually be nodding off unable to stay up past 9 PM, there was no way he would be awake at this hour.
Thinking this, he checked the bedroom camera again, but the guy wasn’t visible in the bedroom either. Not only the bedroom, but there was no light coming from the bathroom visible beyond. The whole house had automatic lighting that should turn on immediately when movement was detected, but everywhere in the house, the lights were off. He had a bad feeling. With that extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable sensation, he tried calling Seonwoo’s phone again. But just like before, no matter how many times he called, the call wouldn’t connect. At the sound of it continuously going to voicemail, he got up from the bed and started pacing around the room.
“Why aren’t you answering?”
He shouted in anger, but that wouldn’t make the call connect.
Overwhelmed by a sudden sense of urgency, he kept pacing around the room and repeatedly calling, but even on the 15th attempt, the call still wouldn’t connect. Unable to wait any longer, he started calmly organizing the situation. First, though he didn’t know what had happened, it was certain that this guy had disappeared, leaving the door open. And he wasn’t answering his phone. Of course, it’s possible to go out and forget to close the door. But if he had gone out, he would surely have taken his phone, so it’s strange that he’s not answering. And to begin with, it doesn’t make sense for that guy to go out at this hour.
Suddenly, his brother’s passing comment came to mind. The words that he’d run away if treated too coldly remained strangely strong in his mind. Still, he thought, surely that persistent and stubborn guy wouldn’t run away for such a reason… but there was already one precedent. Just two weeks ago, he had run away saying he couldn’t handle it.
With a “What if…” thought, this time he called the internal line of that guy’s dormitory. But again, there was no answer there either. With growing anxiety, this time he called the dormitory management office of the National Genetic Engineering Center, and this one connected immediately.
“Hello, National Genetic Engineering Center.”
At the kind woman’s voice, he hurriedly asked his question.
“The internal line for S203, Dr. Lee Seonwoo’s dormitory, isn’t connecting. Has he not returned yet?”
“Dr. Lee Seonwoo?”
“Yes.”
“One moment please.”
As he heard the sound of something being checked, he paced around the room impatiently, and after a moment, the voice came back.
“Dr. Lee Seonwoo is on vacation. He hasn’t returned to the dormitory since going on vacation.”
“Even today?”
“Yes. He took an extended vacation and entrusted the dormitory management to us. There’s no record of the door being opened today.”
At the staff member’s explanation that he seemed to have gone on a trip abroad or to a distant region, Eungyo gritted his teeth.
“Thank you.”
After ending that call, he tried calling Seonwoo’s phone once more, but again, the call wouldn’t connect. The phone was definitely on. But not answering despite all these calls means it’s intentional. He’s clearly deliberately not taking the calls.
“…This airhead bastard.”
Barely restraining himself from shouting out wanting to know what kind of strange thoughts he was having again, Eungyo quickly grabbed his phone, took out any jacket from the closet, put it on, and left the hotel room. Repeating countless times in his mind, “You’re dead if I catch you today,” he hurriedly stood in front of the elevator and searched for Seonjung’s number among the registered numbers and pressed it. After waiting for a moment, an unexpected woman’s voice came through.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable for outgoing and incoming calls.”
At that annoying notification indicating he had completely disabled his phone, Eungyo ended the call and quickly got into his car in the underground parking lot. Then he checked Seonjung’s home address and started driving.
“I’m really going to teach you a lesson today…”
Eungyo gritted his teeth, thinking how this troublemaker disappears, runs away, and causes problems the moment he takes his eyes off him, and he really doesn’t know what to do with him anymore. And at the same time, he resolved and resolved again that today he would really show him.
