Don’t Mess with the Puppy! - Vol.1 Chapter 2 Part 12
After the werewolf clan’s event, Yoon Chi-young didn’t go straight home.
“Puppy, just wait a minute. Okay?”
Instead, he left the puppy with Ji Young-bae and hurriedly disappeared somewhere. Heeseong watched Yoon Chi-young’s back as he walked away, wondering what was going on.
‘Is he giving me a chance to escape?’
Otherwise, there’s no way a guy who’s crazy about skinship would do this. It was strange.
The puppy was left in the quiet waiting room with three members of the organization. It was a relief that he was now being watched by three instead of six like last time. The puppy was so sleepy that he dozed off and fell asleep sideways on Ji Young-bae’s palm. Ji Young-bae, with his delicate hands, carefully covered the puppy with a puppy blanket – which was originally Yoon Chi-young’s handkerchief. It was very comfortable.
After a while, the puppy woke up and got up to wash his paws like a cat. He woke up quickly, probably because it wasn’t a big bed.
‘Hasn’t it even been an hour?’
The puppy checked Ji Young-bae’s watch with his paw and saw that an hour had passed. The puppy, who had woken up from a nap, rubbed his head, which was stained with seasoning, on the handkerchief.
At that moment, the door opened and a soft voice was heard.
“I’m here, did you wait?”
Yoon Chi-young, walking in quickly, appeared. Heeseong bared his teeth. He had waited for Yoon Chi-young for a whole hour. He was so sleepy he could die.
‘I waited for you, but you even changed your clothes?’
Yoon Chi-young even came dressed in a new suit. As soon as the puppy saw Yoon Chi-young from a distance of ten steps, he glared at him as if he wanted to kill him. Perhaps that look only looked sullen to Yoon Chi-young, because he smiled brightly in return.
“I’m sorry, I tried to deal with it quickly….”
‘You might as well leave me alone, why did you go with the werewolves…!’
The puppy’s limp body, which had been growling, suddenly froze.
He smelled a strong smell of blood from Yoon Chi-young, who had approached him. Although he seemed to be trying to cover up the smell of blood with the smell of soap and perfume after changing his clothes neatly, he could not fool the puppy’s sharp sense of smell.
‘There was no smell of blood before? …You have a sensitive sense of smell, so why did you put on perfume?’
The puppy’s face, which had been angry, became dazed. Even when Yoon Chi-young kindly told him that they should go home now, he did not react at all and checked his body odor again.
The puppy sniffed the hands that were close to him. It was faint, but it was definitely the smell of blood.
‘Who did you deal with?’
Since this was a place where pure-blooded werewolves gathered, Yoon Chi-young must have been doing his duty as a guard.
Along with the thought, a strong memory flashed through Heeseong’s head. The bloody man who had once collapsed in front of Yoon Chi-young. Along with the memory, the fear he felt that day came back with a chill.
“I came as soon as I could… Are you angry?”
“…….”
Even when Yoon Chi-young lifted the puppy up to his face and spoke, Heeseong could not bring himself to meet his eyes.
It wasn’t out of fear. In fact, even if he felt that way, Heeseong didn’t want to be afraid of him. He didn’t want to be like the pure-blooded werewolves who raised the child as a guard and gave him dirty work, and then despised and feared him.
However, he couldn’t help but stiffen up with tension. Heeseong grew up in the hands of dogs who valued loyalty. Yoon Chi-young, who had just dealt with his own kind, suddenly felt so far away.
“Have you ever been like that, puppy?”
Unbeknownst to his terrified heart, Yoon Chi-young hugged the puppy and kissed his fluffy back. His hands were as gentle as if he were handling a jewel, but as he got closer, the smell of blood became more pronounced. Hiccup. Eventually, the puppy started to hiccup.
Yoon Chi-young carefully stroked the puppy as he spoke.
“At first, to be honest, he was just a guy I liked a little bit….”
“…Hiccup.”
“Now I want to look good to him, so I’m even doing things I didn’t used to do.”
Yoon Chi-young touched his face and laughed, perhaps feeling embarrassed at what he had just said. Seeing a handsome face acting shy, he looked like an actor who was just starting to date, but the puppy just thought nervously.
‘…Who the hell is he trying to look good to?’
It couldn’t be himself as a puppy, so it could be his family at the banquet or someone else. Flinch. The puppy, overwhelmed with fear, hiccupped again loudly. His fluffy body stiffened for a moment before returning to its original shape. He still couldn’t meet Yoon Chi-young’s gray eyes.
Just a moment ago, he had told Yoon Chi-young not to be intimidated, but he was ashamed of himself for being so scared. It wasn’t like Yoon Chi-young had wanted to do it either.
‘Don’t you have to be a watchdog? Just do something like a potato….’
Heeseong wanted to say that for no reason. He didn’t know why he wanted to tell him that. However, fratricide was a huge wall that was most difficult for Heeseong to accept.
“Why is our puppy hiccupping so much?”
Yoon Chi-young looked at the puppy with concern, bringing his face closer. He held the puppy in his arms and stroked his back gently. It was clearly a loving gesture, but Heeseong had a hard time calming down and hiccupped for a long time.
“Puppy….”
Sensing something strange, Yoon Chi-young whispered as he held the puppy to his shoulder.
“I didn’t do anything bad.”
“…….”
“I really did. I just gave him a warning today.”
‘Is that the problem now?’
Heeseong wanted to argue that way, but he still felt a little less tense.
After all, Heeseong was used to the smell of blood. He had originally rolled around in a gambling den where accidents happened several times a night. Knowing the rules of this world, he could easily ignore what Yoon Chi-young was doing.
“You must;ve been very surprised…. I’ll have to feed you something delicious and put you to bed when we get home.”
Soon, Yoon Chi-young walked through the large hall with the puppy in his arms. The members of the organization followed him, and the pure-blooded werewolves stepped back with hardened faces to make way for Yoon Chi-young as he walked.
Heeseong watched the scene strangely. They were also werewolves with a keen sense of smell, so they must have smelled the blood that Yoon Chi-young was giving off. And they must have felt scared, just like himself, after noticing what Yoon Chi-young had just done. Even though it was a role they had been forced into.
‘…I’m not going to be afraid of you.’
Seeing that scene, Heeseong thought to himself as if he were making a vow. He was determined not to be afraid, as much as he hated himself for being afraid even after knowing Yoon Chi-young’s circumstances.
‘I’m a watchdog, so I’m not going to act cowardly like those wolves.’
After ruminating his thoughts, the puppy glared at Yoon Chi-young as usual.
“Are you just going to look at me now?”
Yoon Chi-young, who finally met his black and round eyes, smiled beautifully. He even took a video of the puppy hiccupping, thinking it was cute. Although the video did not contain any determination, the puppy’s eyes, filled with firm thoughts, were captured perfectly.
The round dog’s determination to judge him based on what he saw and experienced with his own eyes.
