Don’t Mess with the Puppy! - Vol.1 Chapter 2 Part 5
Ten days had passed since Yoon Chi-young began keeping Heeseong.
By now, Heeseong was getting groomed in the late morning to accompany Yoon Chi-young—who, being a gangster, had a rather flexible schedule—to work, spending the day in his arms like an ornament and being doted on.
What Heeseong had realized during this time was that Yoon Chi-young didn’t quite fit the mold of a gang boss.
Because what kind of boss talks to a dog that can’t even speak back?
“Do you know what my ideal type is, puppy?”
‘I don’t care. Not interested.’
On the way to work, in the car, Yoon Chi-young spoke affectionately to the puppy. Heeseong ignored him and watched the action movie playing on the smartphone.
Undeterred by the snub, Yoon Chi-young teased the puppy.
“Someone who always… gives me a thrilling stimulation.”
‘I said I’m not interested!’
Focused on the movie, the puppy suddenly attacked Yoon Chi-young’s fingers like a predator. No matter how much he bit and acted out, Yoon Chi-young seemed to find it amusing and laughed it off.
After venting his frustration, Heeseong returned to watching the smartphone. Over it, Yoon Chi-young gently stroked the puppy’s potato-sized head.
“When I see someone who’s both cute and sexy… Ah, you know that feeling when just making eye contact feels like you’re going to lose it?”
‘Here he goes again, this lunatic.’
Heeseong typically only cared about his own people and rarely listened to others. Naturally, he wouldn’t pay much attention to Yoon Chi-young, whom he considered a target for escape.
And Yoon Chi-young often spoke nonsense, as far as Heeseong was concerned.
“I felt the urge to suck that person off first.”
‘F*ck!’
“Shut your mouth!”Irritated, the puppy sprawled on the ground, flailing its limbs. Biting Yoon Chi-young was futile, so that was the best it could do.
Eventually, the puppy, utterly bored on its way to work, decided against escaping and instead sought an alternative plan.
“Noona, take me with you.”
Heesung wagged his short tail at the wolf clan seated on the sofa, his black eyes gleaming. Coaxing Yoon Chi-young was humiliating, but it was different when the target was a woman.
“What’s with this puppy?”
Yoon Geon-young lifted the fluffy puppy with one hand, chuckling.
She was Yoon Chi-young’s sister, resembling him but with a distinctly different aura. Clearly a member of the wolf clan, she possessed a subtle elegance and sharpness akin to feline predators.
Her black, silky hair was incredibly sexy and stylish. Heesung eagerly wagged his tail at her, displaying his charm. He sensed Yoon Chi-young’s smile from the opposite sofa, but he didn’t care.
‘Yoon Chi-young’s sister would be stronger, right?’
So, taking the younger brother’s puppy should be feasible. Heesung was already smitten, wagging his tail uncontrollably in her arms.
Just then, Yoon Chi-young, pulling out a cigarette, muttered lowly.
“Now you’re blatantly flirting.”
“So, it’s true you have a soft spot for mongrels.”
Yoon Geon-young disdainfully spoke, placing the puppy back on the ground.
‘Pureblood supremacy is annoying, but the sister seems better than Yoon Chi-young.’
Now, the puppy lay on its back, diligently seducing her. Then, it noticed a man sitting next to Yoon Geon-young.
‘Why is he trembling at the sight of Yoon Chi-young?’
The blonde wolf clan man, accompanying Yoon Geon-young, couldn’t even meet Yoon Chi-young’s gaze and was shivering.
To the puppy, Yoon Chi-young’s intimidating presence was now overshadowed by his obsession with kisses and physical affection.
As Yoon Chi-young lit his cigarette and lazily exhaled smoke, he asked,
“You didn’t come to play with me, did you? Here to impress your lover?”
Hearing this, the blonde man clenched Yoon Geon-young’s hand tightly, gritting his teeth. He looked so delicate that Heesung wanted to comfort him, urging him to relax.
“Yoon Chi-young.”
With a no-nonsense tone, Yoon Geon-young spoke sternly as if admonishing.
“Our father has passed away; refrain from frequenting places of amusement.”
“Did sister come all the way here just to say that?”
“As the future leader, I’m advising you. There are many eyes watching, so act with decorum.”
“Ah… nagging, then.”
Yoon Chi-young exhaled smoke leisurely and chuckled, twitching the toes of his crossed legs. Even the mention of being the future leader didn’t seem to concern Yoon Chi-young much. Instead, he responded with a scoff.
“It’s been a week since I last went to a gambling den… You’re quite out of the loop.”
“Maintaining decorum also means getting rid of that mongrel.”
‘That’s harsh of sister.’
Feeling slighted, the puppy gave up on acting cute and briskly got up. It was as if it was reminded of the proud true nature of the wolf clan it had forgotten.
The puppy looked back and forth between the siblings with a suddenly serious face. The atmosphere was as if they were confronting an enemy. It was the first time the puppy saw Yoon Chi-young so openly hostile.
“Raising me as a fighting dog, and now you talk of decorum?”
‘Fighting dog? What does that mean?’
While the puppy was puzzled, Yoon Chi-young, with a smooth laugh, flicked the ash from his cigarette with his long fingers and asked,
“Is it fine for you to play around with the man your brother was seeing?”
Yoon Chi-young glanced at the wolf clan man. The blonde man seemed so terrified that he couldn’t control his emotions, revealing his yellow wolf ears.
Yoon Geon-young looked disdainfully at her brother and then said softly,
“You were probably planning to devour him.”
Yoon Geon-young brushed it off nonchalantly. The coldness in her eyes made it seem like she wasn’t dealing with a family member but viewing Yoon Chi-young as a mere adversary.
Watching this, the puppy felt puzzled.
‘…Why does she look at her own brother with such disdain?’
Heesung’s brother, though not related by blood, valued loyalty highly. He would never treat his sibling with hostility like Yoon Geon-young did. However, Heesung had heard that wolves have a strong sense of pack, much like dogs, but the pureblood wolves before him seemed ready to tear each other apart at any moment.
After a tense standoff, Yoon Geon-young stood up. Yoon Chi-young, too, continued to smoke elegantly without attempting to detain her. He merely left her with a veiled warning accompanied by a subtle smile.
“Congratulations on becoming the next leader, sister.”
“…….”
“I just hope I don’t end up killing you.”
Yoon Geon-young no longer engaged with her brother. A palpable hostility hung between the siblings.
Then, the blonde man attempted to straighten his coat that the puppy was sitting on. Heesung, absentmindedly, allowed himself to be moved as the man adjusted his position.
That’s when Heesung’s black eyes widened.
‘Oh…’
The right hand the blonde man had been concealing up his sleeve.
The gesture to move the puppy was clumsy, and the skin on the back of his hand was all torn up, as if mauled by a wild beast.
Yoon Chi-young, observing from across, laughed heartily at the sight.
“Getting good use out of that hand now?”
“…….”
With just those words, the blonde man’s face went pale, and he hurriedly left the scene.
The puppy looked on, dumbfounded.
‘Did he really… bite the person he was seeing?’
Even after they had left, Heesung continued to stare blankly at Yoon Chi-young.
Suddenly, his presence felt unfamiliar all over again.
* * *
Heeseong pondered deeply even after returning home from work.
‘Why does he prey on his own kind?’
From what Heeseong had observed so far, Yoon Chi-young had acted brutally but hadn’t attempted to devour beastmen. Of course, there could be another side to him… However, Heeseong, with his keen intuition and sensitive nose, didn’t believe the gourmet would taste uncooked creatures.
“I never knew our puppy had a liking for women…”
And to think he’d sulk over such matters, let alone be a cannibal.
The puppy, lying in bed with Yoon Chi-young, sighed out of the sheer annoyance it already felt.
Leaning on his arm beside him, Yoon Chi-young toyed with the puppy’s tail in a whiny manner and asked,
“You’ve never shown me affection, have you?”
‘What about it.’
“I was going to buy you shrimp tomorrow…”
At that, the puppy showed a reaction for the first time. It glanced at Yoon Chi-young and lazily wagged its tail, a kind of plea for the treat.
Pleased to receive even this small sign of interest, Yoon Chi-young smirked mischievously and brought his face closer to the puppy. Heeseong turned his head away, anticipating unnecessary comments from Yoon Chi-young.
“Have you ever mated, puppy?”
His hunch was right. Heeseong wanted to curse at the absurdity of asking a puppy such a question, expecting an answer. Yet, all he could express was a look of disdain and frustration towards Yoon Chi-young.
Yoon Chi-young, as if oblivious to Heeseong’s feelings, prodded him once more.
“Ah… you haven’t, have you?”
‘What’s it to you!’
The irritable puppy forcefully pushed Yoon Chi-young’s face away with its front paws. Scratching his clean skin with its tiny claws, Yoon Chi-young laughed as if he got the hint and stopped petting the tail.
“Your reaction says it all, you really haven’t.”
‘F*ck…’
This was why Heeseong disliked conversing with this man; it always left him feeling exasperated.
Heeseong had never mated. He was still young, and had been too busy working under his brother to even consider it. Moreover, in beastman society, females preferred strong and large males, naturally leaving the pale and delicate Heeseong out of the competition.
Yet, Heeseong wasn’t unpopular. Despite being canine-like, he was quite favored among men. When working in the gambling den, there were men who specifically called for Heeseong, handing him money and unbuckling their belts, or secretly gripping his buttocks tightly as they passed by.
Of course, Heeseong never held back in such situations.
When he heard my brother yelling, ‘Heeseong, you little rascal!’ I’d already have struck the customer by then.
Although Heeseong’s true form was that of a small toy dog, he was raised by fighting dog breeders involved in organized crime. As a result, there wasn’t anyone who messed with Heeseong and got away unscathed.
‘So is that why I’m sensitive to physical contact?’
Heeseong realized a newfound aspect of himself.
Living through such harassment at the gambling den made him sensitive to touch, and without thinking, he had lashed out at Yoon Chi-young, who had bitten him.
“That’s a relief.”
It was then that Heeseong heard Yoon Chi-young’s soft voice. Lifting his head, Heeseong’s eyes met Yoon Chi-young’s, who was gently stroking the puppy’s neck with a finger.
“It would have been slightly disappointing if I were the only one inexperienced.”
‘….’
You?
Doubt must have been evident in the dark eyes of the puppy, as Heeseong inadvertently tilted his head, which Yoon Chi-young found adorable. Yoon Chi-young smiled broadly, lifting the corners of his mouth and embracing the puppy.
Enveloped in Yoon Chi-young’s arms, Heeseong widened his eyes in disbelief.
Then what was the refined wolf tribe man who had his arm bitten about?
Moreover, the wolf clan man was afraid of Yoon Chi-young. The man couldn’t control his emotions to the point of revealing his ears and tail, and couldn’t even make proper eye contact.
‘Could it be… is he attacking me by seducing me into bed?’
It was plausible. Yoon Chi-young had a handsome face and a superior height as a male, making him inherently seductive.
Furthermore, rumors don’t circulate without reason. Based on Heeseong’s experience working in the gambling den, rumors that seemed likely were often false, while those that seemed far-fetched were often true.
“So, the rumors about the cannibalistic wolf might be true.” Yet, strangely, Heeseong no longer felt afraid of Yoon Chi-young.
While glaring at Yoon Chi-young, Heeseong cheekily rested his cheek against his embrace.
‘…No, he said he wouldn’t eat me.’
Somehow, the thought that he was a small dog that wouldn’t be eaten crossed his mind… But since Heeseong knew Yoon Chi-young wasn’t a liar, he felt reassured.
And to Heeseong, a cannibalistic wolf seemed better than a sister who despised her own family due to pureblood elitism.
If Heeseong had a real family, he would have cherished them without disdain.
