Don’t Mess with the Puppy! - Vol.1 Chapter 3 Part 5
Yoon Chi-young entered the isolation room to receive the pheromone suppressants. Heeseong felt uneasy being alone, so he stood pressed against the glass window outside the isolation room, waiting for him.
Yoon Chi-young, who had entered the glass chamber, lay prone, receiving an IV in his arm and patches connected to lines on the back of his neck and various parts of his back, and fell asleep. His expression, which had looked sensitive, loosened somewhat comfortably, and his black wolf tail twitched intermittently. Seeing his relaxed face, Heeseong felt a bit relieved.
At that moment, a nurse approached Heeseong, who was watching the isolation room.
“Would you like to wait in the waiting room, guardian?”
“Ah, no. I’ll stay here.”
Although the word “guardian” felt unfamiliar, Heeseong brushed it off as if it were nothing. Looking at his own appearance reflected in the glass, it seemed that the word “guardian” didn’t suit him. To think that he, who was sloppily wearing Yoon Chi-young’s long coat that reached his ankles, had become his guardian. On the contrary, it was Yoon Chi-young who had been taking care of him all this time, so the reversal of roles felt unfamiliar.
Then, Heeseong accidentally glanced down at Yoon Chi-young’s medical card and was startled.
‘This bastard is 6 years older than me?’
Heeseong had expected Yoon Chi-young to be older than him, but seeing the actual numbers made him feel strangely unfamiliar. All this time, Heeseong had not only called Yoon Chi-young “hey,” but he had also lived by cursing at him and beating him up with his front paws to his heart’s content. And that too, to the guardian who controlled the black money of the wolf clan.
‘…I’ll just keep calling him hey.’
However, Heeseong didn’t dwell on it for long. He had decided not to care about others’ opinions anymore. He had nothing left to lose anyway, and his exhausted heart made even his worries feel powerless.
“……….”
The painful experience of being cast out of the pack for the second time had distorted Heeseong’s heart. It was partly because he had forcefully turned away from his sorrow, but Heeseong refused to acknowledge that pain.
Heeseong stubbornly thought that being betrayed by his brother wasn’t worth being sad about. Tears welled up in his eyes as he looked at the floor, but Heeseong bit his lip hard to hold back his tears.
It was his brother who had pretended to cherish him and tried to use him. So it was right for him to only think about revenge.
Thinking stubbornly, Heeseong looked at the isolation room again. Yoon Chi-young needed to recover quickly so they could go kill Park Geon-tae. Even if not for that, he felt much more at ease when Yoon Chi-young was healthy. Thinking about revenge made his heart increasingly impatient.
As he wiped the tears welling up in his eyes, Heeseong said to Ji Yeong-bae, who was standing beside him,
“I’m going to the restroom and will be back.”
“It’s dangerous for you to go alone.”
“I want to go alone. It’s close anyway.”
Perhaps because of his experience living as a puppy, Heeseong spoke casually to Ji Yeong-bae. Ji Yeong-bae didn’t particularly mind that point, but he seemed worried about Heeseong going alone and tried to follow him.
“Don’t follow me.”
Not wanting to be caught crying, Heeseong deliberately avoided Ji Yeong-bae and went to the restroom. The restroom was right around the corner anyway.
Seeing the stylish restroom made of black marble, Heeseong thought that they had really splurged money everywhere. It was a hospital restroom, but there was even a separate powder room. Hesitating like a small animal entering an unfamiliar place, Heeseong first approached the sink, put down the juice cup, and rolled up the coat sleeves that covered the back of his hands.
At that moment, someone approached from behind.
“You came with Director Yoon, right?”
“Pardon?”
As Heeseong raised his head, he made eye contact with a blond man through the mirror. It was the wolf clan man who had come with Yoon Geon-yeong before and had been afraid of Yoon Chi-young.
Turning around with a puzzled look, their eyes met. The man, who was half a span taller than Heeseong, was wearing a sleek suit today. However, he had several medical patches on the back of his hand, as if he had come to the hospital for treatment.
“I’m acquainted with Director Yoon, so I asked out of curiosity. I’m Yang Hye-chan.”
‘…Wow.’
Unable to even respond to the introduction, Heeseong inwardly admired him up close. Yang Hye-chan was a young man with a mature charm. The suit he wore also suited him well, and although Heeseong hadn’t noticed when he was scared, now that he had a relaxed smile, he looked like a well-bred noble young master. At a glance, he was a beastman with a different essence from Heeseong, who had rolled around and grown up at the bottom.
‘…So Yoon Chi-young used to date someone like him.’
Somehow, a corner of Heeseong’s heart felt uncomfortable. He just found it a bit annoying that the other person had been in a relationship with Yoon Chi-young.
Heeseong looked at the mirror to the side again and frowned. He saw himself, still looking pale and with remnants of boyishness. Wearing Yoon Chi-young’s oversized coat in an awkward manner made him look even more immature. The thing he hated the most was that the tears welling up in his black eyes had been caught by someone else.
Pretending as if nothing had happened, Heeseong turned on the faucet with a frown on his face.
“Gyeon Heeseong.”
“Are you from the wolf clan?”
“No. I’m from the dog clan.”
Heeseong answered perfunctorily while washing his hands. He even mentioned the fact that he was from the dog clan without hesitation. Anyway, it didn’t matter since the dog clan was a common species, making up 30% of beastmen.
However, as soon as Yang Hye-chan heard that answer, he looked down at Heeseong, who was sitting on the sink, with a condescending gaze.
“So you were a dog after all.”
Annoying purebred wolves. Here we go again.
Having suffered enough from species discrimination at the gambling den, Heeseong just finished washing his hands with a bothered expression. On the other hand, Yang Hye-chan continued speaking in a friendly and gentle tone.
“Director Yoon has been strangely bringing a dog around lately….”
“……….”
“Will it be okay? Seeing as he came to get pheromone suppressants, it seems dangerous.”
“Why?”
“That depends on the relationship… What’s your relationship?”
“We sleep together.”
Heeseong answered recklessly, not wanting to lose.
‘Why did I answer like that?’
Although he regretted it after saying it, it wasn’t a lie but the truth anyway. Heeseong had always slept in the same bed as Yoon Chi-young since his days as a puppy.
“Yousleeptogether?”
However, Yang Hye-chan seemed to think it was a lie and had a subtle sneer on his face. That gaze, unique to purebred wolves, looking down on others, felt very repulsive.
“If you had that kind of relationship, Yoon Chi-young wouldn’t have gone into isolation.”
‘What’s it to you?’
Heeseong just glared at him through the mirror with a sullen expression. He had no idea what Yang Hye-chan was trying to say to him.
“He’s changed. He refused to sleep with me even if it killed him.”
Yang Hye-chan subtly emphasized that he had been in a relationship with Yoon Chi-young and appealed as if he had cherished him.
It was then that Heeseong realized that this bastard had started talking to him to spite him. Heeseong began to show a blatantly annoyed demeanor. Unlike at the gambling den, now he could express his feelings in front of customers, which was a small convenience.
“Seeing him bring a dog around with that personality, there must be a separate purpose….”
Yang Hye-chan looked Heeseong up and down, then lowered his voice and spoke as if he were very worried.
“He’s a man-eating wolf who even bites his own kind. Will you be okay?”
“Yes.”
“You look young, so I’m giving you a chance to run away.”
“Ah… Mind your own business.”
“If you received something from that beast….”
Whirring!
Heeseong ignored him and activated the hand dryer. Although Yang Hye-chan didn’t know since they had met when Heeseong was a puppy, Heeseong, who was acquainted with him, found him a bit clingy. It seemed like he was badmouthing his ex-lover.
‘Who are you calling a beast?’
Moreover, calling a beastman a beast was a great insult. Heeseong also inwardly thought of Yoon Chi-young as a beast, but he believed it was different from Yang Hye-chan.
And even if he cursed Yoon Chi-young, it was Heeseong who did it. Suddenly, Heeseong’s insides began to boil.
Heeseong knew quite a lot about Yoon Chi-young. Yoon Chi-young hadn’t become a guardian by choice, and it was the wolf clan who had excessively developed his pheromone glands during his growth period. However, when he heard words telling him to stay away under the guise of a warning, he got angry. Just like the wolves he had seen at family events, he wondered if Yang Hye-chan was also desperate to make Yoon Chi-young an outcast.
On the other hand, he didn’t understand why he was getting so angry, but Heeseong had no intention of leaving Yoon Chi-young after hearing such cowardly gossip. Anyway, Yoon Chi-young was the only… revenge partner left for Heeseong.
Still, he couldn’t cause a scene at the hospital.
‘…Let’s endure it for now. Yoon Chi-young is sick too.’
Taking a deep breath and barely holding back, Heeseong shook his hands and tried to leave the restroom. Behind his back, he heard Yang Hye-chan’s words as he twirled around.
“I clearly warned you. That guy is a man-eating wolf.”
“……….”
He really didn’t want to endure it after all. Come to think of it, there was no reason to. Heeseong now had no one to be mindful of and nothing more to lose.
Turning back around, Heeseong approached Yang Hye-chan with fierce eyes, taking big strides.
“Would you like some strawberry juice?”
“Hmm, no thanks….”
Before Yang Hye-chan could finish his answer, Heeseong poured the strawberry juice onto his face, which had a sneer on it. For the first time, the contempt disappeared from Yang Hye-chan’s face, and surprise and anger began to set in.
Putting the plastic cup down on the sink with a thud, Heeseong said, subtly revealing his fangs,
“Don’t badmouth Yoon Chi-young in front of me. I’m his guardian.”
“…Ah, you bi….”
“What? If you’re upset, bring your own guardian too.”
Leaving a warning, Heeseong left the restroom again. Behind him, the wolf’s growling sound echoed louder and louder in the restroom. Instinctively, Heeseong’s steps quickened. Having nearly been devoured by a wolf last night, he had become even more terrified of the sound of a beast’s howl than usual.
Quickly leaving the restroom, Heeseong urgently said to Ji Yeong-bae as soon as he turned the corner of the corridor,
“Yeong-baehyung, I caused trouble.”
“…Pardon?”
Before Ji Yeong-bae could even understand the situation, Heeseong immediately transformed into a puppy behind the door of the guardian waiting room right next to him.
The puppy, who had haphazardly shoved his clothes behind the door, rolled his front paws and looked at a loss, then recklessly burrowed into Ji Yeong-bae’s pant leg and tightly grabbed his ankle wearing dress socks with his front paws. Although he could hide in the pile of clothes, clinging to Ji Yeong-bae was optimal to conceal his scent.
In the meantime, Yang Hye-chan’s rough voice echoed in the corridor.
“Did you see the damn dog that just passed by here?”
“I didn’t see it.”
Ji Yeong-bae pretended not to know without changing his tone of voice. Heeseong understood why the deer in fairy tales rewarded the woodcutter. Even though he had suddenly gotten involved in trouble, he was very grateful that Ji Yeong-bae took his side.
Afterward, Yang Hye-chan questioned a few more times, but Ji Yeong-bae’s answers were like an iron wall. The puppy, hiding in the pant leg, quickly wagged his short tail in tension and held his breath.
At that moment, Yang Hye-chan persistently asked,
“That dog Yoon Chi-young brought this time, are they really sleeping together?”
‘Why the hell is he prying into that?’
Heeseong found Yang Hye-chan to be really clingy. Asking around about his ex-lover’s rumors. In the meantime, Ji Yeong-bae answered heavily,
“That’s not something I can answer.”
“Ha, I guess they really are sleeping together.”
The puppy just found Yang Hye-chan pathetic, muttering as if he were amazed. Little did he know that he had informed the wolf clan’s guardian, who was monogamous, that he had found his lifelong mate. It would have been something that would make Yoon Chi-young so moved that he would cover his mouth if he knew.
