Drunk In Love (Years of Intoxication) - Chap 48
With a loud bang, Song Juhan slammed the car door and stalked towards the two men.
He Gu turned to Zhou Heyi and said, “Heyi, go inside first.”
Zhou Heyi frowned but didn’t move as he glared at an aggressive-looking Song Juhan.
Song Juhan walked up to He Gu and stopped in front of him as a strong wave of anger and grievance surged in his heart. He wanted to grab He Gu, pull him into his arms, then shove him in the car and quickly drive away from this god-awful place. But he was caught off guard by the icy look of rejection in He Gu’s eyes. The animosity and thick air between the two was so strong, it was as if a solid wall had been erected in that space; even one small step forward seemed harder than climbing to heaven. Reluctantly, he gritted out, “Have you had enough fun yet?”
“No.” He Gu’s heart was beating rapidly, almost as if he was using all his willpower and concentration to maintain his calm outer appearance. Admittedly, he was a little afraid of Song Juhan when he was angry—afraid of being pushed down and violently raped again.
Song Juhan grabbed He Gu’s arm, “If you want to travel, next time I can come with you. But right now, it’s time for you to come back with me.”
He Gu flung his hand away and said calmly, “Song Juhan, we’ve already broken up.”
Those two words made Song Juhan instantly lose his temper. The one thing he had feared most for the past month had actually happened. That fear had transformed into a sharp blade and was twisting around in his throat as he growled, “Broken up my ass, I didn’t agree to that!”
“I don’t need you to agree to us breaking up,” said He Gu calmly. “You should go back. From today onwards, whether you get married or die, it has nothing to do with me. I don’t want to see you ever again.”
Song Juhan felt a clenching pain in his chest as he stared at He Gu in complete disbelief. He never imagined that He Gu would say something like this to him. “You… fucking say that again.”
“I said, we’ve broken up. I don’t want to see you ever again.” He Gu never expected that one day he would be the one to look Song Juhan in the eyes and say these words – words that consumed almost all his courage to say. Although he was once willing to always be there at his beck and call, and to give everything to this man, in the end, all he got in return was pain and disappointment. The only thing to be grateful for was that he managed to get out of this alive. Aside from the fact that he was covered head to toe in blood and wounds, he could still be considered lucky.
In the blink of an eye, Song Juhan grabbed He Gu by his collar and fiercely gritted out, “You aren’t He Gu. What have you done to my He Gu?!”
Zhou Heyi instantly stepped forward and grabbed Song Juhan’s hand as he said coldly, “Let go of him.”
Song Juhan’s deadly stare moved to Zhou Heyi. “Who the hell are you?”
“You’re…”
Knowing how scary Song Juhan was when he got angry, He Gu quickly cut in, “Heyi, go inside now! This has nothing to do with you!”
Zhou Heyi pursed his lips, puffed out his cheeks, and said, “Gu-ge is with me right now, so don’t bother him anymore!”
Song Juhan was stunned, something seemingly exploding within him as a violent urge vibrated through his body. He let out a low growl, then ruthlessly kicked Zhou Heyi in the stomach.
Zhou Heyi didn’t have time to react, and he flew back and fell to the ground, his face pale.
He Gu stared in utter shock. “Song Juhan!” he shouted.
As if he had gone mad, Song Juhan lurched forward and pulled Zhou Heyi up from the floor, “You touched him? You fucking dared to touch He Gu?! Laozi will kill you!”
He Gu rushed up and grabbed Song Juhan’s arms. “Song Juhan, let go of him!”
Song Juhan turned a deaf ear to He Gu. He threw Zhou Heyi to the ground, then lifted his foot in an attempt to kick the man again. He Gu used his body weight to ram into Song Juhan, throwing them to the floor, then straddled Song Juhan and tried to punch him in the face.
Song Juhan instantly grabbed He Gu’s wrist and easily turned them around, pressing He Gu beneath him instead. He saw red as he shouted loudly, “You and him?! He Gu! Fucking explain this right now!”
“That has nothing to do with you!” He Gu clung tightly to Song Juhan’s collar as he gritted out, “Song Juhan, I have nothing to do with you anymore!”
“Bullshit, do you want to fucking die?!” Song Juhan pulled He Gu up and dragged him towards the car.
No matter how hard He Gu struggled and kicked about, he couldn’t seem to get out of Song Juhan’s clutches. At that moment, he felt completely helpless; his heart ached and his cheeks flushed. In this lifetime, and in this world, only Song Juhan could bring him such endless pain and humiliation. Ironically, the person he loved so deeply also gave him the deepest pain and humiliation.
Watching as He Gu was about to be dragged into the car, Zhou Heyi tried to get up, but was in too much pain to move properly.
Coincidentally, a police officer on patrol happened to be passing by and shone his flashlight at them as he said something unintelligible in French before running over to them.
Song Juhan slammed the car door loudly and muttered something angrily in French. The policeman took out his baton with a serious and determined look on his face.
The driver’s side door suddenly flung open as a French driver got out and ran towards them, explaining something in a panic.
He Gu took advantage of Song Juhan’s momentary distraction and broke free from his grip, then ran straight to Zhou Heyi’s side and said in a trembling voice, “Heyi, Heyi, are you okay?” Looking at Zhou Heyi’s pale face, He Gu felt an aching pain in his heart as well as overwhelming guilt.
Zhou Heyi’s face was scrunched up in pain, but he still gritted his teeth and said, “…I’m fine.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“No, let me just rest for a bit…”
“He Gu, you better let go of him!” said Song Juhan, then immediately pounced on them again.
The two policemen shouted something, then ran over and stood in front of He Gu and Zhou Heyi, blocking Song Juhan’s path.
Zhou Heyi took a deep breath and said to the policeman in a mixture of not-so-fluent French and English, “No, he’s not our friend. He attacked us and we feel threatened by him.”
Song Juhan paled with anger, and he glared at Zhou Heyi as if he wanted to devour him viciously.
The driver anxiously tried to mediate between them as he whispered something to try and persuade Song Juhan.
The two policemen seemed too lazy to deal with this kind of trivial fighting incident and just waited for them to resolve it between themselves.
With reddened eyes, Song Juhan squeezed his fists and pointed at He Gu, “He Gu, in this whole world, you’re probably the only one that dares treat me like this. I won’t let this go.” After saying that, he turned, opened the door and got in the car.
The driver quickly drove away.
The policemen came over and asked if they were alright and whether they needed to go to the hospital or not. Zhou Heyi waved his hand and said he didn’t want to go, but He Gu insisted. He knew how strong-handed Song Juhan could be, so he was adamant that Zhou Heyi should go to the hospital.
Once they got to the hospital, Zhou Heyi did a bunch of tests, but since he was indeed young and exercised regularly, he seemed to be fine after all. Although his stomach was bruised black and blue and his face was pale from the pain, he only needed ample rest.
He Gu apologised profusely, feeling both angry and regretful inside.
Every time, every time He Gu somehow managed to underestimate the extent of Song Juhan’s wretchedness.
Zhou Heyi forced a smile as he said, “It’s not your fault. You don’t have to apologise.”
He Gu gently rubbed Zhou Heyi’s hair and said in a low voice, “Let me take you to a hotel so you can rest.” They couldn’t go back to the house for the time being since Song Juhan would probably go there looking for him again and cause another scene.
It wasn’t that He Gu hadn’t thought about it before, about Song Juhan reacting as such to their ‘break up’.
It must be that Song Juhan simply couldn’t accept getting dumped by someone else. It had nothing to do with whether he liked the other person or not, but more to do with his personality and the fact that he couldn’t accept losing face.
That’s why He Gu decided to not say anything and simply disappear without a word. He hoped to give Song Juhan enough time to digest the situation, so that when he returned, perhaps he would be faced with a less explosive encounter. But it was to no avail. Song Juhan’s fiery anger burnt all the way across continents to the city of Paris, thousands of kilometres away, and even affected Zhou Heyi.
Zhou Heyi wrapped his arms around He Gu’s neck and kissed the corner of his lips. “Stop blaming yourself, I’m fine. I understand why you chose to leave him, he really is an asshole.”
He Gu was left speechless as he chuckled bitterly.
Once Zhou Heyi got his medicine, He Gu held onto him carefully as they walked out of the hospital together.
The sky was already completely dark outside, and the city of Paris wasn’t safe at this time of night. On top of that, the hospital was located in a quiet neighbourhood that was barely populated. Both Zhou Heyi and He Gu felt quite nervous standing by the side of the road waiting for a taxi. They felt as if the dark shadows passing them by were giving them suspicious and ominous looks.
Out of nowhere, a black van took a sharp turn, swerved, and stopped in front of them.
The two felt something wasn’t right and backed up instinctively.
The van door swung open as two foreigners jumped out and grabbed He Gu, then violently forced him into the van.
“What are you guys…” He Gu stuttered as he noticed Song Juhan sitting in the passenger’s seat. He was so angry and anxious at that moment that he couldn’t even speak.
Song Juhan didn’t say anything; he didn’t even turn his head around. He simply sat there in silence.
Zhou Heyi shouted, “Gu-ge! What are you guys doing? You guys are breaking the law!”
A strong and brawny man grabbed Zhou Heyi’s chin, snapped a few photos of his face before patting his cheek and said coldly, “We have your home address, company details, and contacts of your relatives and friends. If you do anything unwise, you’ll have to bear the consequences.”
Zhou Heyi was stunned speechless as he glared angrily at the brawny man.
Without another word, the brawny man threw him to the floor, turned and got in the van.
“Heyi, Heyi!” He Gu called out as he struggled to get out, but was easily forced back into the van as the van door slammed shut in his face. He Gu glared fiercely at the back of Song Juhan’s head, then shouted, “Song Juhan, you lunatic! Are you trying to kidnap me?! You fucking bastard!” He Gu had an uncontrollable urge to pounce on the man in frustration.
The brawny man pulled He Gu back into his seat, then covered his nose and mouth with a wet towel. He Gu didn’t have time to react before a strange and unpleasant smell surged up his nostrils.
He Gu struggled for a moment as his vision blurred. In the end, he couldn’t fight back anymore as he passed out.
When He Gu woke up again, all he felt was the strong sun melting his face. His eyelashes fluttered as he slowly opened his eyes; unable to adapt to the sudden strong light, He Gu used the back of his hand to shield his eyes.
The next second, He Gu sat up abruptly and turned his head left and right, taking in the unfamiliar environment around him, and found himself in a strange place.
He Gu immediately jumped out of bed, opened the window, and was met with an ocean that was boundless as far as the eye could see. The warm sunlight poured in through the window, leaving a beautiful golden yellow beam.
Where was this? Where did Song Juhan take him?
He opened the door and rushed out.
He was in an enormous luxury villa, filled with modern American-style decor, famous artworks, and numerous posters of Song Juhan – instantly revealing the identity of the villa’s owner.
He Gu shook his muddled head, then descended the stairs as he shouted, “Song Juhan!”
His voice echoed around the space, but no one answered.
“Song Juhan!” He Gu shouted again.
Just then, a man in an Indian suit walked into the living room and bowed to He Gu. Then lifted his index finger to his lips as if to say “shh” and gestured for He Gu to follow him.
He Gu followed behind him quietly.
The man led He Gu until they stopped in front of a closed door. After lightly knocking a few times, the man pushed the door open slightly.
He Gu spared a quick glance as the other man backed up three steps then turned and left.
Taking a deep breath, He Gu pushed the door open fully.
It was a study.
There were two large bookcases against the east and west facing walls, filled from top to bottom with numerous books. Directly facing the door was a crescent-moon-shaped floor-to-ceiling window, and beside that window was a very comfortable-looking armchair.
Song Juhan was slouched over in the armchair with one leg bent and the other drooped over the side and onto the carpet. In his hand was a bottle of rum; the reddish-brown liquor swayed slightly in the bottle. Song Juhan’s tilted head lay against the sofa as if he was fast asleep.
Hearing the noise, Song Juhan opened his eyes slowly, then turned his head around and looked at He Gu. His hair was a mess, his eyes vacant, and his face with an expression of drunken depression. Still, his features were as handsome and striking as ever, making He Gu’s breath catch in his throat.
He Gu felt his heartstrings stretched taut as he backed up a few steps.
Song Juhan chugged another large mouthful of hard liquor before he chucked the bottle away and stood up with a slight sway in his step.
He Gu didn’t want to confront a drunk Song Juhan again, so he turned to leave.
“You can’t leave.” Song Juhan lowered his voice and added, “Don’t even think of going anywhere. No matter how far you run, I will find you and drag you back.”
He Gu paused in his step as he heard Song Juhan’s words.
It was true. Even if he didn’t face it now, he would have to face it someday – there was no avoiding it. He took a deep breath and turned around again.
Song Juhan walked over and stopped in front of him, then reached out and lightly pinched He Gu’s chin to lift his face.
Emotionlessly, He Gu looked straight at him.
Without warning, Song Juhan placed his palm on his chest and pressed him up against the door. With a strong smell of alcohol on his lips, Song Juhan kissed and sucked on He Gu’s lips roughly.
He Gu didn’t react at all and simply let Song Juhan kiss and ravish him.
Panting heavily, Song Juhan said in a hoarse whisper, “He Gu, why have we become like this?”
That was indeed a laughable question, but at that moment, no one was laughing at all.
Why did they become like this? It wasn’t solely Song Juhan’s fault, He Gu was at fault as well. The fact that he let himself love someone in such a degrading manner was the stupidest thing in the world. All he was trying to do now was amend his past mistake.
Song Juhan hugged him tightly, burying his face in He Gu’s neck and greedily breathing in that familiar scent that only belonged to his ‘He Gu’. “Why…why have we become like this?” he asked again.
He Gu blinked and said softly, “It’s already become like this, what’s the point in asking why?”
“That’s not right. We aren’t meant to be like this.” Song Juhan tightened his arms around He Gu as if he wanted to merge He Gu with his own body. “You don’t like me getting married, right? So I won’t do it, I won’t marry anyone else. I won’t have any more scandals either. Just come home with me.”
He Gu swallowed visibly, then very clearly emphasised each word next to Song Juhan’s ears, “Song Juhan, I’ve slept with someone else.”
Song Juhan stiffened instantly.
The icy cold look on He Gu’s face was frightening. “I don’t know how to compare both of your skills in bed, but I think they’re both good. I’m very satisfied.”
Song Juhan slowly clenched his fists.
“I don’t meet your standards anymore. I’ve lost my one and only advantage. You can now go and find yourself another well-behaved, obedient, and clean little boy to raise.” He Gu deliberately emphasised the word ‘clean’ little boy, his tone full of sarcasm and ridicule.
“Shut up!” Song Juhan yelled suddenly. With a ferocious and deathly expression, he grabbed He Gu’s collar as if he was about to devour him whole.
He Gu looked straight back at him fearlessly.
“You’ve got some nerve! You fucking… How dare you treat me like this?! How dare you sleep with someone else?!” Song Juhan twisted his hand and abruptly started to strangle his neck!
He Gu’s airway tightened, his eyes widened, and his face flushed. He tried to push away Song Juhan’s hands, but was helpless to do so.
Song Juhan viciously slammed He Gu to the ground, then pounced on him and began to tear at his clothes. “Where did he touch you?! I’m gonna chop his hands and feet off! I’m going to castrate him! I’m going to kill him!!” he yelled.
“Song Juhan!” He Gu shouted loudly as he struggled back.
Song Juhan continued to tear at his clothes for a moment before a sudden gripping pain tore at his chest; his limbs grew powerless, and he slowly collapsed beside He Gu.
He Gu panted heavily, an instant sense of relief washing through him.
Song Juhan’s voice choked. “He Gu, I want He Gu. I don’t want you, I want He Gu.”
He Gu stared at the ceiling wide-eyed and with a vacant look on his face. His fists clenched so tightly by his side, it was as if his fingernails were digging a hole in his palm.
The He Gu you want has been slowly strangled to death by you in the last seven years…
