Fall In Love If You Want To Ascend - Chap 2
When the six grand-disciple level sect masters heard Shen QingXian say this sentence, they started to have different thoughts.
Zeng ZiLiang: This is bad, this is bad. If Esteemed Lord knows that I planned on discussing the Dao with that Demon Emperor, certainly he will be even more furious!
The raised hand four-person group: We second that.
As for Ye Zhan who was the only one opposed to attending, he was very proud of himself right now: You bunch of good-for-nothings, just wait to be punished!
Esteemed Lord had asked. Even if they were extremely frightened, at this moment they had to say something. Zeng ZiLiang could only bite the bullet: “It is that…….that demonic cultivator who issued the invitation.”
Shen QingXian asked again: “Where will it be held?”
Trembling with fear, Zeng ZiLiang answered: “The Fantastical Ashland and Astral Sea.”
妄烬星海 – Fantastical Ashland and Astral Sea. 妄 – absurd, fantastic, presumptuous. 烬 – ash, cinder. 星海 – Astral Sea. I just decided to go with Attica’s translation of 妄烬星海. It sounds weird in English but in Chinese it sounds much better.
That was the boundary between the righteous path and the demonic cultivators. Walking across the Astral Sea meant to be a part of the Heavenly Dao. Crossing the Fantastical Ashland meant to be part of the Heart Domain.
Shen QingXian glanced at them: “By accepting this invitation, you guys intend on attending?”
He finally asked!
It’s as if a blade that had been suspending over their head, had finally fallen down and cut their neck, blood dripping everywhere.
However, the matter had already progressed to this point, Zeng ZiLiang could only confess everything truthfully.
Not waiting for Zeng ZiLiang to open his mouth, Ye Zhan beat him to it and said: “They all intend on going.”
Finally he can complain. This almost a thousand year old sect master, who in the eyes of grand-disciples and great-grand-disciples had always been serious in speech and manner, at this moment, had turned into a seven year old toddler.
Although in the eyes of Shen QingXian, these sect masters were no different from toddlers.
Filled with joy, Ye Zhan wanted to continue “the report on the guilt of others,” unfortunately Shen QingXian opened his mouth to say: “Everyone’s attending?”
“I…….” Ye Zhan was just thinking of showing utter devotion by making it clear that even if you beat him to death he wouldn’t attend the meeting when Shen QingXian unhurriedly said: “Since everyone’s going, then I’ll go too.”
Zeng ZiLiang abruptly raised his head: “ ! ”
Ye Zhan almost couldn’t catch his breath!
What’s going on?
The six people’s hearts drummed with anxiety. They couldn’t make out the hidden meaning behind what Esteemed Lord had said.
Shen QingXian asked again: “When is it?”
Zeng ZiLiang respectfully and cautiously replied: “Seven days later.”
Shen QingXian, with satisfaction, said: “Alright, all of you go back and prepare.”
To the people of the cultivation world, seven days was honestly too little. It’s the same as a few hours to mortals. These grand-disciples were already big shots, so they certainly had to properly choose who to bring, how they will travel as well as who would be in charge of the sect’s inner affairs after they leave…….
Moon: lol, totally sounds like me when i visited my relatives a few years ago: Should i bring an umbrella, then what about a uv-blocker umbrella, that reminds me i need to bring sunscreen, can’t forget the mosquito repellant and anti-itch cream….and so on.
Even after Zeng ZiLian and the rest left WanXiu Mountain, they still did not recover from the shock.
“Prepare?” Cheng Jing murmured. “How do we prepare?”
Although he spoke softly, he pointed out something to the other five people.
Zeng ZiLiang’s eyes darkened, cold sweat dripped down from his forehead; Ye Zhan’s eyes twinkled, he rubbed his fist and wiped his palms, already feeling very eager.
At this moment, the six people believed that they had understood Esteemed Lord’s thoughts!
Ye Zhan eagerly said: “Let’s make that demonic cultivator unable to return back where he came!”
Zeng ZiLiang had always been a cautious person. He closed his eyes and said: “Since this is Esteemed Lord’s intent, then we can only prepare ourselves well.”
No wonder when he heard that they were going to attend, Esteemed Lord was not angry, and no wonder Esteemed Lord asked whether Gu JianShen would be attending or not.
Seven days later, the Fantastical Ashland and Astral Sea will be a place where a fierce battle will be held for sure.
With Esteemed Lord LianHua’s presence, the Heavenly Dao side would be fearless. No matter how presumptuous Gu JiuYuan will be, under Esteemed Lord’s palm, he wouldn’t be able to take any advantages!
Heavenly Dao’s number one.
Heart Domain’s number one.
The discussion of the dao held at the Fantastical Ashland and Astral Sea I’m afraid will decide who the actual number one under the heavens is!
“I will be taking my leave.” Zeng ZiLiang held one fist in his other hand and said farewell to the other five people. The other five people anxiously left to their own sect with a hurried look.
Seven days…….really was too little time.
Although when these two forces begin a war they could only be spectators, but being present there was dangerous! Don’t even mention unrealistic ideas like lending a helping hand; what they had to do was to try their best to protect themselves and their disciples. They can’t let their lives be swept away just like that by the repercussions of the two’s battle!
There really was too little time!
At Null Direction Sect, Zeng ZiLiang covened the Four Great Elders, opened the secret chamber and took out the ancient heavenly weapon——Null Direction Sword!
无方宗 – Null Direction Sect (for the rest of the sects i went with Attica’s translation). 无 – without, nothing, not have. 方 – direction, side, square. 宗 – sect. For the sword it’s 无方剑. 剑 – sword.
T/N: (눈_ლ) okay, i was expecting a heavenly-like name for the sword and didn’t expect this
At Thousand Crane School, Cheng Jing walked into the Eternal Ice Gorge and awakened the sleeping Divine Beast!
千鹤门 – Thousand Crane School. 千 – thousand. 鹤 – crane.
At Dipped Moon Sect, Mu Rong ate countless elixirs and entered closed door cultivation to break through the last level of the secret technique, vowing to break through the bottleneck during this short period of time.
浸月宗 – Dipped Moon Sect. 浸 – soak, dip, immerse. 月 – moon.
沐容 – Mu Rong. 沐 – surname that means shampoo, wash one’s hair. 容 – appearance, allow, tolerate.
Star Sign School…….
象星门 – Star Sign School. 象 – elephant, image, like/similar. 星 – star.
Caged Sea Pavilion…….
樊海阁 – Caged Sea Pavilion. 樊 – fence, hedge, a surname. 海 – sea.
Meridian Monastery…….
子午观 – Meridian Monastery. 子 – son. 午 – noon, a surname.
At this moment, the cultivation world’s Six Great Sects moved in sync. One after another they took out their outstanding magic weapons for the sake of making it out alive from the fierce battle to come!
You can’t blame the sect masters’ for their wild imagination. After all, compared to the truth, their conjecture can’t be even more normal. They are the very definition of normal!
On top of WanXiu Mountain amid the lingering mist, a small peach blossom that had absorbed enough Spiritual Qi, gained consciousness. It stretched its petals and broke away from its branch, fluttering in the air.
Heavenly Listening Hall was an elegant place. Whether it’s the stairs made from cold jade or the green tiles, every aspect of it was elegant and free from vulgarity. It was not breathtakingly beautiful nor resplendent yet it gave everyone who saw it, a peace of mind and handle matters uprightly.
Moon: originally translated as QianTing Hall, now changed to Heavenly Listening Hall.
This little flower spirit originally had a mischievous personality but at this moment, it behaved with more reserve. It followed the trail of Spiritual Qi and saw an immortally enchanting figure in the middle of the large expanse of night orchids.
It was only a side view yet the little flower spirit gained insight from the Great Dao.
With a burst of cold air fluttering by, the flower spirit transformed into a small child. Kneeling amid the flowers, with a sweet voice full of devotion, the child said: “My Lord.”
Shen QingXian glanced at him: “From now on, you are Su Yu.”
宿雨 – Su Yu. 宿 – old, former, lodge for the night, it has two other pinyins but Su is the common one so going with that. 雨 – rain.
The small child’s face lightened and proceeded to kowtow: “Thank you my lord for bestowing a name!”
WanXiu Mountain was a place full of Spiritual Qi and adding on the fact that Shen QingXian had the Myriad Spirit constitution, there would frequently be a few spiritual creatures who gained consciousness and insight from the Great Dao.
Seeing that it was a peach blossom spirit, Shen QingXian gave it this name from the line “On the petals of the peach blossom, clings the raindrops from the night before.”
“桃红复含宿雨” – it’s a line from one of the seven poems from 《田园乐七首》by a Tang poet Wang Wei (王维). I translated the meaning of the line instead of literally translating it as is. In some of the Ancient China CNovels some of the authors come up with the names from a line from a random poem. IDK if this was actually done in Ancient China but in some of the CDramas I watch they sometimes do this too. Now, in modern times parents pick a character(s) that signifies what they hope their child will grow up to be. I believe some actually take a line from somewhere and for the 1st generation the 1st word will be present in all the names in that generation and for the 2nd generation it will be the 2nd word and so on. Take 桃红复含宿雨 for example. The 1st generations will have names like 桃丽 (TaoLi), 怡桃 (YiTao), or 桃新 (TaoXin). The 2nd generation will have names like 红宇 (HongYu) or 静红 (JingHong). You get what I mean.
Su Yu advanced forward, wanting to wait upon Shen QingXian but Shen QingXian waved him away: “Go rest.”
Disappointment showed on Su Yu’s face but he could only back away and leave.
He had just gained enlightenment so Shen QingXian was taking pity on Su Yu, fearing that he would miss the ripe time to devote himself to understanding the Dao.
Of course…….on Shen QingXian’s side, he also had something to take care of.
After the little peach blossom left, Sheng QingXian returned his attention to the Jade Scroll in his hand.
When he first saw “1. Meet with Gu JianShen,” Shen QingXian’s thoughts were similar to those of his grand-disciples. He thought that to repair the Heavenly Staircase he had to exterminate the Demons and defend the Heavenly Dao.
He and Gu JiuYuan can be counted as old acquaintances. When they were young, they had even been part of the same school for a very short period of time.
However, at that time Shen QingXian already had some initial success and was cultivating outside. After staying at WanXiu Mountain for two years Gu JiuYuan disappeared without a trace.
As for why Shen QingXian would remember, it’s because his ShiFu had once lamented: “A child blessed by the heavens, a pity that he has a defiant nature.”
师父 – ShiFu. It means master but it feels weird in English so just leaving it in pinyin.
During that time, Shen QingXian hadn’t put much thought into it. When his ShiFu ascended and Heart Domain expanded boundlessly overnight, he then became aware of the deep meaning behind what his ShiFu had said.
Gu JiuYuan had an impressive natural talent yet also a rebellious personality.
WanXiu Mountain’s cultivation was in line with the Heavenly Dao yet his mind just had to be full of doubts, doing what his heart pleased.
With an inharmonious Taoist heart it would be difficult for him to make great accomplishments. Originally, Shen QingXian thought that Gu JiuYuan would decline at this point yet didn’t ever think that another path would open up for him and he would yield brilliant results at the Heart Domain.
Afterwards, Shen QingXian did not see him much yet this name was engraved in his heart.
Could it be…….the Heavenly Dao wants him to kill this traitor?
As he was thinking this, another line appeared on the Jade Scroll: “2. Get drunk together with Gu JianShen.”
Shen QingXian muttered to himself: Take advantage of when he is drunk to kill him?
Not a moment longer, another line appeared on the Jade Scroll: “3. Tour the Fantastical Ashland and Astral Sea with Gu JianShen.”
Shen QingXian: Drown him into the Astral Sea? A truly befitting ending for him.
The Jade Scroll couldn’t bear it anymore, and another line appeared: “4. You can’t have any killing intent towards Gu JianShen.”
Moon: lol, the Jade Scroll is literally the readers, let’s help set this ship sailing!
Shen QingXian: “…….”
The Jade Scroll had sent so many lines in one breath. As if it was tired, the previous glittering rays of light went out with a woosh.
Shen QingXian thought about it: “It’s not kill but convert.”
This time, no word appeared on the Jade Scroll, looks like it really is “tired.”
Well, that’s enough, Shen QingXian had already got what he wanted.
Looks like as long as the rays of lights were not shining, it won’t know what he was thinking.
Shen QingXian gently stroked the Jade Scroll, a smile playing on the corners of his mouth.
A truly interesting thing, it actually has the ability to enter his sea of consciousness.
Restore the Heavenly Staircase?
Let’s try it first.
In the blink of an eye, seven days passed. The grand-disciples, great-grand-disciples, and great-great-grand-disciples were fully equipped, it was the greatest combat capability ever for the Heavenly Dao!
Walking into the Astral Sea, amid the glittering dawn, everyone bowed in salute.
Shen QingXian was still dressed simply and in plain clothes giving off a peaceful countenance, yet his appearance covered up the brilliance of the Astral Sea.
No one dared to size up Esteemed Lord LianHua’s appearance and there was no need to. In front of the numerous powers, everything was a fabrication.
The Astral Sea was a dazzling azure while the Fantastical Ashland was a profound black.
In the dazzling azure, the white blob became the brightest radiance.
In the profound black, the reddish-black blob became the most dominating existence.
