Although it was late at night, Lu Zhen’s skin was still enveloped by the humid heat when he came out of the club.
He tugged at his shorts, somewhat regretting dressing so provocatively today.
Someone waved to him from a distance. Knowing he couldn’t avoid it, Lu Zhen took a deep breath, suppressed his inexplicable nervousness, and walked over.
A tall man leaned against the luxurious car. He had changed out of his suit and was now wearing a trench coat. His shirt was open, and the wrinkles on it were faintly visible. His hair, which had been held in place by hair gel, had also fallen loose, hanging down his forehead and swaying gently in the night breeze along with the hem of his trench coat.
He held a cigarette between his fingers, extinguished it before Lu Zhen approached, raised his hand to fan away the rising white smoke, and smiled at the newcomer.
Lu Zhen subconsciously reached for his trouser leg again, wishing he could find a piece of cloth to cover his long legs, which he was always proud of.
“It’s very beautiful.” The man’s voice was very pleasant, clear with a hint of huskiness, which tickled the ear like a feather gently patting it, both tingling and tender.
“I just can’t figure out if you’re hot or cold.” His words were teasing, and his gaze, devoid of any passion, swept over Lu Zhenguang’s bare thighs and his oversized faux fur coat before confirming again, “But it does look good.”
That feeling came again, like someone was holding your breath. Lu Zhen’s fingers gripped the air for a moment, then he said stiffly, “Mr. Fan, thank you for today. Actually, you didn’t need to spend money. They… can’t really be considered my friends.”
“Know.”
“Know?”
Perhaps it was the alcohol, but the man’s smile wasn’t as gentle as before. He leaned lazily against the car, a casual curve hanging at the corner of his lips.
“When they entered the house, they saw you standing in front of them like a little rooster, all proud and arrogant. It was obvious that something unpleasant had happened.”
The doting and clingy “little rooster” was no less lethal than “Zhenzhen.” Lu Zhen automatically ignored the inexplicable turmoil in her heart and reluctantly searched her memory: “Didn’t you see me at the very end?”
The man chuckled, a hint of mischief in his voice: “It’s just for show, to add to the dramatic effect.”
This was said with a mix of truth and falsehood, and as expected, Fan Xiao saw confusion in Lu Zhen’s eyes.
The two were positioned next to the parking lot, and a car was passing by behind Lu Zhen. Fan Xiao’s long fingers rested on the chain button of the young man’s coat, and with a gentle hook, he suddenly pulled him in front of him.
The car roared past, the wind it created making the faux fur on Lu Zhen’s clothes flutter wildly, just like his heart, which was now out of control and in complete chaos.
With his fingers still fastened to the buttons, Fan Xiao looked down at the young man who was almost pressed against him and said softly, “Inviting them to drinks is slapping them in the face. No one can bully my Zhenzhen.”
“!!!”
It’s so hot! The heatwave in the art studio, the summer heat, even the temperature in your blood is burning! Lu Zhen stared blankly at the man’s handsome face, feeling the heavy and rapid heartbeats pounding against his eardrums.
Suddenly, a phone rang, shattering the unusual atmosphere between the two. Lu Zhen abruptly took a step back, frantically pulled out his phone, and his expression instantly hardened when he saw the name flashing on the screen.
Fan Xiao successfully picked up on the annoyance and self-reproach in Lu Zhen’s expression. He leaned back in the car again and asked with interest but politeness, “Should I leave?”
Lu Zhen shook his head and answered the phone: “Yeah, it’s almost over. I’m with… friends right now.”
As expected, Fan Xiao heard You Shulang’s voice faintly coming from the receiver. Lowering his eyes and concealing his ambiguous smile, he took out his cigarette case, flicked out a cigarette, and put it between his teeth.
Smoking in moderation can make you feel better, like right now.

Lu Zhen’s call continued: “You can work overtime, you don’t need to pick me up. I’ll call you when I get home, okay?”
A tall figure suddenly loomed over him, as if to pull Lu Zhen into his arms. His strong chest was almost touching Lu Zhen’s mouth and nose, and the thin fabric of his trousers brushed against his smooth thighs, leaving a cool sensation.
The man swiftly swung his hand beside Lu Zhen, the resulting gust of wind striking the young man’s neck.
Fan Xiao leaned closer to Lu Zhen’s ear and whispered, “There were mosquitoes, but I’ve already chased them away for you.” He glanced at the phone on the other side of the young man’s ear and kindly reminded him, “The person on the phone is asking you what’s wrong. He seems a little… anxious.”
Lu Zhen seemed to wake up suddenly from a deep dream. He quickly covered his phone with his hand and said hurriedly, “I’m fine, don’t worry, I just encountered…flies. I’ll hang up now, okay, goodbye.”
Lu Zhen put down the phone and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Now, Fan Xiao had withdrawn and asked, a cigarette dangling from his lips, “Would you mind if I had a smoke?”
Seeing the young man shake his head, he lit a cigarette with a match and then flicked his wrist to extinguish the firefly.
“Was that you on the phone just now…?”
The white mist exhaled by Fan Xiao dissipated into Lu Zhen’s ears along with his voice. The young man pondered for a moment, then said as if he had made up his mind, “Mr. Fan, I’m sorry to have troubled you tonight. I will pay you back for the drinks, but I don’t have that much right now. Could you let me pay you back little by little?”
Before Fan Xiao could react, he quickly added, “Also, the person on the phone just now was me…”
“Brother Fan, Lu Zhen? You haven’t left yet?” A pleasant male voice suddenly interrupted Lu Zhen’s words.
Looking in the direction of the sound, they saw the handsome man who had just been sitting in the center of the sofa in the private room. He had come out of the club and was walking down the steps with a sweet smile. His eyes, like hooks, were always fixed on Fan Xiao, not sparing Lu Zhen at all.
The handsome man walked over leisurely and stood very close to Fan Xiao, tilting his head back with a coquettish expression: “Brother Fan’s wine has made people drunk. You bought the wine so readily, but you don’t care about the people who are drunk.”
“Is that so?” Fan Xiao lightly bit the cigarette butt, glanced at the person beside him through the thin blue smoke, and said with a casual smile, “That is truly a sin.”
Then, shifting his gaze, he looked back at Lu Zhen and asked, “Who did you say was on the phone just now?”
Lu Zhen glanced at the handsome man standing behind Fan Xiao, whose eyes held a hint of disdain, slowly clenched her fist, and shook her head: “It’s nothing, he’s… family.”
Fan Xiao raised an eyebrow: “Family?” He seemed to have thought of something funny, took a deep drag of his cigarette, and then concluded, “Your…family really cares about you.”
The handsome man beside him, not wanting to be ignored, suppressed a playful look in his eyes, hooked his finger on Fan Xiao’s sleeve, and gently shook his arm: “Brother Fan, you’ve made people drunk, how are you going to atone for that?”
He spoke at a slow and leisurely pace: “Go on.”
The handsome man glanced at the luxury car beside him, then said with a slightly unsteady air, “I’m feeling a little dizzy. How about Brother Fan takes me home?”
The man smiled, and Lu Zhen seemed to see coldness in his half-closed smiling eyes.
He took a deep drag of his cigarette, tilted his head to exhale, then threw the cigarette on the ground and stubbed it out with the sole of his shoe. After doing this, Fan Xiao suddenly raised his hand and pried open the fingers hooked on his sleeve.
He pulled his trench coat back, put his hands in his trouser pockets, leaned slightly forward, looked at the handsome man, and said, word by word, “I’m homophobic, so stay away from me.”
“However…” he put his arm around Lu Zhen’s shoulder, “except for Lu Zhen.”
Lu Zhen: “!”
