Good Luck Time - Chap 1
Chapter 1
One day when she was twenty-one, Tao Sizhi opened a movie on her computer before playing the newly downloaded love management mobile game.
While he was having a game conversation, he heard the movie actor say, “If there are four seasons in life, it will be spring until I am forty.”
He looked up thoughtfully, and began to learn to divide his life like this: there may be no seasons before he is seventeen, spring at eighteen, severe cold at nineteen, and only autumn after that.
At the age of twenty-four, Tao Sizhi graduated from the School of Computer Science at U University.
As in the previous ten years, the main tone of Tao Sizhi’s university life was still that of being alone and without social interaction.
Since she no longer wanted to share the same dormitory with others, Tao Sizhi chose to study day school, and had fewer opportunities to get to know her classmates than in high school. When taking a group photo after her undergraduate graduation, Tao Sizhi didn’t even remember the names of her classmates.
If Tao Sizhi were to list in detail what he had gained during his college and graduate studies, apart from the acquired subject knowledge and high grade points, they would probably only include many cards in the love mobile game.
But he didn’t really care, because that was all he cared about.
In the fall, Tao Sizhi participated in the school recruitment and was admitted by Ernst & Young, the city’s largest Internet company. In February of the following year, he went to work despite the biting cold wind.
Unlike U University, which is only two stops away from home, Ernst & Young’s campus is located in the High-tech Zone, far away from Tao Si’s home. Every working day morning, Tao Sizhi must get up before 6:30, transfer to the subway three times, and walk for 20 minutes before arriving on time.
His parents and brother felt that Tao Sizhi’s commuting was too hard, saying that he had never experienced such hardship before, and began to urge him to learn to drive.
Tao Sizhi didn’t want to learn, so he often pretended to be thinking or not hearing.
After a week, Tao Sizhi lost weight visibly. The family began to discuss again, wanting to rent or buy a small house for him next to the company. However, there were few real estates near the park, and suitable houses were not easy to find. They took Tao Sizhi to look at it several times, but they didn’t take a fancy to it.
Tao Sizhi felt that looking at the house was very troublesome and he had to rush around a lot. After several times of cooperation with no results, he began to resist passively again.
Fortunately, in the third month of Tao Sizhi’s commute from the city center to the suburbs, the company suddenly issued a new welfare policy and prepared to provide dormitories to new employees in need.
The logistics department’s execution efficiency is very high. Not long after the notice was released, Xiao Li, who was responsible for contacting the technical department, took the form to inquire about the intention.
Tao Sizhi was originally not interested in this benefit. He was staring at the program he was debugging and said to Xiao Li without raising his head, “I can’t help it.”
Xiao Li was a procrastinating person. He stood next to him without leaving. As if he felt strange, he asked him: “Why don’t you live here? The conditions are very good.”
Tao Sizhi finally raised her head and said to her, “I don’t like living with others.”
Li Xiao immediately told him: “Did you not read the intranet notification? These dormitories are single rooms. If you miss it, you will lose it.” Holding the pen in her hand, she asked Tao Sizhi again: “Can’t you live in a single room?”
Tao Sizhi pondered for a while, then said, “Stop.” Then he turned his eyes back to the screen.
Li Xiao nodded, checked the form, and walked to another station.
After Tao Sizhi continued to concentrate on completing his work, he opened his cloud document form and filled in the blank space after the date of August 2 in his diary: “I will live in a single dormitory provided by the company soon.”
He also announced to his family group, “I’m going to live in a dormitory,” and caused an uproar.
A week later, Tao Sizhi moved into the park.
Because there was a lot of luggage, his brother Tao Siyuan drove him to work. His mother also wanted to come, but his brother refused on the grounds that “I have to go to work and don’t have time to take you home.”
There was a bit of traffic on the way to work on Monday, so while driving, his brother talked to him about the things to pay attention to when living alone.
Tao Sizhi didn’t listen carefully because he was seizing the time to play games and go about his daily life, and he could guess what his brother said with his eyes closed.
It must still be what I said last night: “You must go home once a week”, “Don’t play games too late”, “Contact more people when you have time”, “But you must tell me before in-depth contact”.
When he was about to arrive at the park, Tao Sizhi had accumulated enough points for ten consecutive draws, and immediately put his phone in front of his brother: “Brother, help me draw.”
His brother sighed for some reason and then clicked.
Tao Siyuan was very lucky that day and drew an SSR that Tao Sizhi didn’t have.
Tao Sizhi hadn’t drawn the card he wanted for several weeks, so he was so happy that he agreed to Tao Siyuan’s unreasonable request to learn to drive next year. After Tao Siyuan moved his things for him, he gave him a spare key to the dormitory.
The company’s single dormitory perfectly met all Tao Sizhi’s requirements for a house.
The space is small, it has an independent bathroom, the Internet speed is very fast, the bed is comfortable, and there is a door-to-door cleaning service.
After moving into the dormitory, Tao Sizhi always stayed at the company except for being ordered to go home by his parents and brother on weekends and holidays when he was not busy.
It didn’t take long for Xiao Tao, a fresh graduate from Area B, to become famous in the entire program department. He has good business skills, is the most active in working overtime, and never leaves the park without anything going on.
The three-point and one-line life of dormitory, work station and canteen made Tao Sizhi feel like a fish in water and very comfortable. He once felt that the autumn of his life was coming to an end and spring was coming back.
Tao Sizhi once considered using this dormitory as a model if she was forced to move out in the future and wanted to buy a house.
After hard work that was obvious to all, at the end of the year, Tao Sizhi actually received the Excellence Award for new employees.
His boss called him and another award-winning colleague Xiao Zhao to the office, congratulated them in advance, and gave them tickets to the company’s annual meeting, saying, “This is not an honor that every excellence award winner can have.”
