Good Luck Time - Chap 23
Sure enough, Tao Sizhi came over and said to Jiang Ge, “I am used to going to the bookstore on Saturday nights.”
”You’ve only gone there twice and you’ve gotten used to it,” Jiang Ge hit him mercilessly. “I’ll draw cards for you twice less. Will you get used to drawing cards yourself?”
Tao Sizhi pretended not to hear, stood up, reached out and grabbed Jiang Ge’s wrist: “We should go.”
Jiang Ge still held the pen and drew a long line on the exercise paper.
Tao Sizhi often behaves in this strange and eye-catching manner.
However, over the past few months, Jiang Ge seemed to have gotten used to his weirdness just like Tao Sizhi used to going to the bookstore on Saturday nights.
Most of the time Jiang Ge didn’t bother to argue with Tao Sizhi, because Tao Sizhi was not a normal person, and a normal person would be pissed off if he argued with Tao Sizhi.
Not long after he met Tao Sizhi, Jiang Ge asked his mother why she was so kind to Tao Sizhi and why she wanted him to take Tao Sizhi with her whenever she went.
His mother was vague, saying that Tao Sizhi had a miserable childhood, an unhappy family, and had never made friends since she was a child. She also praised Jiang Ge and hoped that her kind-hearted son could help take care of this poor child.
Jiang Ge was not an enthusiastic person. In fact, he felt that Tao Sizhi was extremely troublesome and he basically never had any fun when helping Tao Sizhi.
It’s just that Tao Sizhi really didn’t have any other friends. He stayed alone during meals and classes. He only hung around Jiang Ge and made some strange requests. Sometimes Jiang Ge found it difficult to refuse.
For example, when traveling, Tao Sizhi needed to look at every corner of the entire hotel before going to bed. That day, when they passed the fire door in the corridor, Tao Sizhi stopped by the fire door and opened and closed the door seven or eight times.
If Jiang Ge didn’t accompany him, he would have to go alone and might get lost while walking.
He had already been lost. To be honest, Jiang Ge was so frightened by him that he felt much more nervous and guilty than he imagined. He did almost everything Tao Sizhi asked, hoping that Tao Sizhi would cheer up, and finally discovered that he seemed to I didn’t even know I was lost.
For example, Tao Sizhi played an inexplicable mobile game, and his luck in drawing cards was extremely bad, so he often asked Jiang Ge for help.
Especially in the past few days, whenever he wanted to draw a card, he would squeeze next to Jiang Ge and slowly wave the screen in front of Jiang Ge, as if he was fishing.
Jiang Ge would reach out and take the phone away in cooperation, and he would show a happy expression, as if he and Jiang Ge were playing some fun game.
Tao Sizhi was often stubborn, a bit stupid, and very easy to deceive. She hated crowded places. For some reason, she also hated having physical contact with almost everyone except Jiang Ge.
When there are many people, Tao Sizhi will suddenly stick to Jiang Ge, or stretch out his arms to hug Jiang Ge, or lean his face into Jiang Ge’s arms, waiting for Jiang Ge to hug him.
Generally speaking, it’s the former. After all, Jiang Ge doesn’t really want to hug him.
That night, Jiang Ge was halfway through the three-dimensional geometry problem. He still hadn’t figured out how to solve the problem, so he didn’t want to follow Tao Sizhi and accompany him to the bookstore. Then he said to Tao Sizhi, “I haven’t finished the question yet.”
”I’ll teach you,” Tao Sizhi said immediately. He looked down at Jiang Ge and said, “These types of questions have rules and are very simple.”
As he spoke, he took a pen from the table and listed the formulas on Jiang Ge’s paper.
It was not unreasonable for Tao Sizhi to be among the top five in his grade with the lowest score in Chinese. After he listed the formula and explained it in a few sentences, Jiang Ge knew how to solve it.
”Do you understand?” Tao Sizhi asked.
Jiang Ge still didn’t want to go and said to him, “No.”
Tao Sizhi was shocked: “How could that happen?” Then he said, “Jiang Ge, your IQ seems to have dropped.”
”It’s better to go to the bookstore and buy some basic teaching materials,” he added, “while there are few people.”
In order to avoid more troublesome exchanges, Jiang Ge finally accompanied him out.
The summer heat in early September was getting intense. They walked outside the community, and Tao Sizhi personally took a taxi to the all-night bookstore.
When we got out of the car, the wind suddenly picked up. Jiang Ge checked the weather. The temperature will drop next week, and there will be rain in the next few days.
The all-night bookstore was brightly lit and there were very few people. Tao Sizhi walked around the bookstore with satisfaction. He first walked through every aisle, and then went to his favorite science fiction section.
Jiang Ge casually took a book and stood not far from Tao Sizhi, reading while paying attention to Tao Sizhi.
Tao Sizhi picked out a person coming down the stairs behind him for a while. Jiang Ge raised his eyes casually and saw the man’s face, and the man also saw Jiang Ge.
The man was startled, then came over and showed a kind smile to Jiang Ge: “Jiang Ge, are you here to buy books too? What a coincidence?”
Jiang Ge didn’t want to pay attention to him, frowned, closed the book, and put it back.
Tao Sizhi felt Jiang Ge’s movements and suddenly raised his head and asked him, “Isn’t this book good-looking?”
Hearing this, Hu Yichui turned to look at Tao Sizhi, looked him up and down, and asked, “Are you Jiang Ge’s friend? Hello, I’m Hu Yichui.”
Tao Sizhi didn’t answer him, so he turned to Jiang Ge and suddenly showed a subtle smile: “You come to the bookstore together so late, don’t you have to go home together, right? You have such a good relationship with him, does Dad know?”
”What’s your relationship?” He took a step closer to Tao Sizhi and asked him like a child.
Tao Sizhi moved very slowly. He raised his head blankly, glanced at Hu Yichui, and then moved towards Jiang Ge involuntarily.
When Jiang Ge saw Hu Yichui approaching Tao Sizhi, he suddenly became angry. He grabbed Tao Sizhi faster than his heart and pulled Tao Sizhi to his side. He looked down at Hu Yichui expressionlessly: “You didn’t get fucked last time.” Am I happy?”
Hu Yichui probably still remembered the pain, so his expression changed and he took a step back, with a smile still on his face: “I don’t mean any harm, I’m just asking.”
”Are you classmates?” He looked at Tao Sizhi again and whispered softly, “Jiang Ge and I were classmates before.”
Tao Sizhi glanced at him but didn’t speak to him. For some reason, she looked unhappy and said to Jiang Ge, “I’m leaving.”
