Limited Possession - Chap 14
I would never help you pass your rut period
The explosive rate at which the entertainment news spread had made the manager, who had not had a few years of experience, be a little taken by surprise.
While she was still contacting the networking company, someone had already been squatting downstairs at the hospital with a camera. The manager instantly went to handle it with the person in charge of the hospital. Terribly anxious, she was about to take Tu Yan out from the emergency exit, but she received a call from her colleague at the company, saying that everything had been settled and removed from the hot search. The paparazzi downstairs of the hospital were also cleared out.
The manager was stunned, “Who resolved it?”
“Hua Sheng, Gu family.”
“What?”
The colleague was also confused, “They suddenly gave a phone call, telling us to stop and hand over everything for them to settle. As a result, the public’s opinion was controlled within a few minutes. Right now, you wouldn’t even be able to search up this topic. It must’ve been a lot of money. You should ask Tu Yan; does he have any personal relationship with the Gu family?”
“Probably not. He doesn’t even seem to recognize Gu Chaocheng.”
“That’s strange, then.”
“Is it because Tu Yan is Hua Sheng’s brand ambassador——”
“Have you ever seen a local tyrant rushing to clear a sex scandal for a celebrity?”
The manager shut her mouth.
“Oh right, what’s up with Tu Yan? Is he really pregnant?”
In a dilemma, the manager gripped her phone, “He wouldn’t say.”
“Such a big matter, he——forget it. Besides, he’s of the rich second generation and wouldn’t lack jobs like this. He can come and go as he pleases, and we can’t control him.” The colleague scoffed lightly and joked, “Whose child is he pregnant with? It couldn’t be from the Gu family’s?”
“Don’t speak nonsense.”
“Ai, I’ll tell you a secret. I’ve heard from someone that at Hua Sheng, Gu Chaocheng is the big boss in name, but in fact, the one whose words carry the most weight is not him, but his brother. His brother is young, keeps a low profile and rarely shows his face. However, he has strong capabilities, and has helped to guide Gu Chaocheng on various affairs. With a fortune of hundreds of millions now, it’s due to the trump card of the wealthy single man…so, don’t let Tu Yan place his bets on the wrong treasure, there’s no future in placing his bets on Gu Chaocheng.”
The manager frowned, “What do you mean by this? Is Tu Yan that kind of person?”
The colleague smiled, “Yes, yes, yes, I’m just kidding, you don’t have to protect your young1, don’t get angry. I just can’t stand his high and mighty appearance. Now that the problem has been resolved, I’ll get off work then. I’m hanging up.”
When Gu Chenbai arrived at the hospital, Tu Yan was still sitting on the bench in a daze, as though the blood-shed and slaughter on the internet had nothing to do with him.
The manager had finally learnt about Tu Yan’s pregnancy five minutes ago. Before she could even be surprised by it, as she turned her head, a tall and slender man stepped out of the elevator. Wearing a tailored camel coat, he had an outstanding appearance, while holding an intricate black and gold cane in his hand.
The manager thought that this person looked a little familiar, but was sure that she had definitely not met him before.
That man headed straight to Tu Yan’s direction. The manager hurriedly wanted to stand up, but Tu Yan held her back, shaking his head, “It’s alright, I know him.”
The manager was slightly hesitant and glanced at the person coming over.
Gu Chenbai walked up to Tu Yan without a word. First, he leaned down and drew out the report sheet that had been gripped out of shape by Tu Yan, opening it to take a look.
The rims of Tu Yan’s eyes were very hot. He wasn’t willing to admit that in that split second when Gu Chenbai appeared, it had hit the pause button on his restless mind, allowing him to feel at ease like a tired bird flying back to its nest to rest.
Gu Chenbai didn’t say anything for a long time. Tu Yan thought that he was too pleasantly surprised and couldn’t recover from it. As he was about to say some twisted words out of habit, Gu Chenbai reached forward and patted the top of Tu Yan’s hair instead, his tone light as he asked him, “Does it feel very uncomfortable?”
Tu Yan’s belly-full of words were stuck in his throat. He lifted his eyes and looked at Gu Chenbai.
As soon as the manager heard about the unusual relationship between the two, she found a random excuse to make a leave first as she never interfered in Tu Yan’s privacy.
Gu Chenbai and Tu Yan were the only two people left in the corridor.
“Tu Yan, from what I remember, I don’t think I’ve ever entered your reproductive cavity?” Gu Chenbai’s voice was very calm, without any fluctuation nor blame as he asked, “So, whose child is it?”
Tu Yan looked into Gu Chenbai’s eyes and didn’t speak for a long time.
Like drinking ice water in the winter, his body and heart turned cold, chilling his bones.
He and Gu Chenbai were in a deadlock. The nurse next to them walked over and broke the silence. The little nurse was probably a new intern and had never came into contact with a celebrity like Tu Yan, so she walked up in a timid manner and asked softly, “Mr Tu, Dr Liang wanted me to ask you if you would like to make an appointment for the abortion operation in advance?”
Tu Yan subconsciously looked at Gu Chenbai, whose expression remained unchanged, seemingly not unexpected and said, “You want to get rid of the child? Would it be too harmful for your body?”
It turned out that Gu Chenbai could be so cold and detached. His gentleness and consideration appeared extremely ruthless in a moment like this.
Tu Yan glanced at the poster of the baby on the wall and thought: What should I do? No one wants you now.
The nurse didn’t know the inside information and specifically recommended, “It wouldn’t. The painless abortion at our hospital adopts the most advanced technology from abroad. It can minimize the damage to the omega’s body to the greatest extent.”
Tu Yan stood up. The nurse thought that he was going to leave his signature, but Tu Yan took a deep breath and said, “I’m not doing the operation, I’m keeping the child.” Once said, he turned around and left.
Gu Chenbai froze for two seconds, then followed him.
Tu Yan’s steps were weak. He couldn’t push open the exit door despite trying many times. From behind him, Gu Chenbai helped him push it open and used his hand to hold it, allowing him to exit first. Smelling the scent on Gu Chenbai, Tu Yan’s nose turned sour. He said stiffly, “Thanks.”
“Tu Yan,” Gu Chenbai stopped him, “Let me send you home.”
Tu Yan was suddenly aware of what was wrong.
Gu Chenbai didn’t call him Tu Bao anymore.
Even if he didn’t call him Tu Bao, Gu Chenbai had always called him Yan Yan in the past, and had never called his full name and surname before, as though he was talking to a stranger.
Before Tu Yan could react, Gu Chenbai’s driver was already waiting downstairs. Tu Yan thought that Gu Chenbai would take him back to the villa, but Gu Chenbai only naturally reported the name of the housing estate Tu Yan was staying at now, then instructed the driver to go out from the back exit of the hospital.
On the road, Gu Chenbai asked Tu Yan what he wanted for dinner. Tu Yan looked out the window, his mood already broken to pieces, and said, “I don’t want to eat.”
“You have a baby now, you can’t mess up your diet.”
Tu Yan sneered and turned around to say to Gu Chenbai, “It has nothing to do with you, this child isn’t yours anyway.”
Tu Yan thought that Gu Chenbai would ask further, but he didn’t.
When they arrived downstairs at Tu Yan’s residence, Gu Chenbai accompanied Tu Yan out of the car, “I’ll go up and cook for you then I’ll leave.”
Tu Yan should have refused, but he couldn’t say a word. He really needed Gu Chenbai’s pheromones right now. The doctor said that without a complete mark, it would affect the sex hormones and bring a lot of side effects. He couldn’t endure it alone.
Tu Yan had bought this house in the past, and he never came back after getting married. Now that he moved back in after the divorce, there were many things that he hadn’t had time to tidy up, which piled up in a disorderly mess everywhere. Tu Yan changed his shoes and turned a blind eye to the mess as he headed straight to his room. He silently took off his coat and pants before worming inside the quilt.
Gu Chenbai helped to tidy up outside. He tore open the tape of the cardboard boxes one by one, taking the items out and arranging them into neat categories on the dining table. Tu Yan listened to Gu Chenbai’s footsteps; unhurried, light and heavy, together with the sound of the metal cane against the ceramic tiles, a familiar sound that appeared countless times in Tu Yan’s dreams.
He gripped the quilt tightly, wanting to cry but couldn’t cry it out.
His mind was filled with what Gu Chenbai just asked, “Whose child is it?”
Who else could it be?
He thought regretfully: I clearly agreed to be unconstrained and leave when time was up. But he didn’t know when he had started to already give himself to Gu Chenbai without reservation. In the end, he was the one who had no way of turning back.
After Gu Chenbai finished tidying, he went into the room. He bent down to pick up a few of his own clothes on the ground before finding the dirty laundry basket in the bathroom to put them in. He then turned around and walked to Tu Yan’s bed.
He suddenly sat down. Tu Yan’s heart tightened as he hurriedly shut his eyes.
As he felt Gu Chenbai’s hand reach over, he held his breath, and everything became silent. Gu Chenbai’s hand touched Tu Yan’s collar, his fingertips gently caressing the cotton material before unbuttoning the first button.
Tu Yan’s heartbeat sped up, his eyelashes trembling uncontrollably.
Gu Chenbai placed his finger on Tu Yan’s neck. Tu Yan swallowed his saliva, his Adam’s apple slipping against Gu Chenbai’s finger, and he heard Gu Chenbai laugh softly, “Are you still pretending to sleep?”
He abruptly opened his eyes and saw Gu Chenbai lifting the necklace on his neck with his fingertips.
Tu Yan’s wedding ring was strung onto the chain of the necklace.
Gu Chenbai had on a contemplative expression, as though he was asking Tu Yan: Didn’t you say you wanted to throw the ring away? Why are you still wearing it?
With reddened eyes, Tu Yan snatched the necklace back, turning his back as he grabbed the quilt to cover himself.
Gu Chenbai said after a long time, “I had my rut period before, and I couldn’t remember anything after I woke up, but I always felt that you’ve been there.”
“No. That’s impossible. Don’t get carried away with your wishful thinking.” Tu Yan hid in his quilt, biting the corner with hatred, “I would never help you pass your rut period, and would never give you a baby, asshole.”
