Limited Possession - Chap 35
Gu Chaocheng’s story
Prologue
On the day of Tu Yan and Gu Chenbai’s wedding, Qi He was present. He not only threw out a luxurious gift, but also brought out a boy group from his own studio to perform a halftime show.
As soon as a few celebrities came in, the wedding venue immediately became lively. Dozens of security guards surrounded the hotel to prevent reporters and fans from secretly taking photos.
Gu Chaocheng hated this kind of noisy environment the most.
After helping Gu Chenbai greet the guests, he loosened his tie and walked to a place where there were fewer people to take a breather.
As he fell into a daze, he saw an omega wearing white overalls and a khaki beret, popping his head out from the corner to peer out.
Gu Chaocheng looked on coldy, watching him walk to a door and gently push it open, taking a peek through the crack of the door.
He was being stealthy; if not a paparazzi, he was a fan.
Gu Chaocheng walked up and grabbed the omega’s collar from the back, then pushed the door open and threw him in. The little omega was petrified, a scream choked in his throat by his own saliva. Before his soul could return, he squatted on the ground and coughed for a long time.
“…” Gu Chaocheng looked down at him and thought silently: Are all omegas this delicate?
“Wh-what are you doing?” The little omega finally finished coughing, his face flushed red as he stood up and looked at the person who initiated the act reproachfully, but froze when he saw Gu Chaocheng’s face.
The omega’s gaze was set straight, not displaying fear in the slightest. His facial features were very young, his eyes bigger than the average person’s, round and blunt, and he just had to have a small mole at the corner of his eye to add on a little more sentiment. Gu Chaocheng rarely looked eye to eye with omegas like this, so he was suddenly disoriented. He touched his nose, frowned again, and said sternly, “Just now, you were looking in all directions like a thief outside, yet you still have the face to ask me what I’m doing?” After saying this, he took out his phone and made a move to call security.
The little omega rushed to grab his arm to stop him, “I’m not a thief, I came today to perform.”
Before Gu Chaocheng could speak, he smelled a rich peach scent filling his nose.
It wasn’t the smell of the air freshener in the room. Both of them froze. The little omega let go and touched the back of his own head, then looked at Gu Chaocheng dazedly, “Where is my anti-heat plaster?”
The anti-heat plaster is the most commonly used omega pheromone-blocking drug in the current market.
“How would I know?”
The omega immediately looked down to search for it. It wasn’t on the floor nor by the door. He kept looking for it, but in the end, he found that the anti-heat plasters were already stuck together on Gu Chaocheng’s sleeve.
When he lifted the omega’s nape just now, he had smoothly torn away someone else’s anti-heat plaster.
“…” The little omega was so angry he was about to cry, but he couldn’t lose his temper. He could only glare at Gu Chaocheng with a frown, “How could you be so brash?”
Gu Chaocheng also didn’t think about that. He looked awkwardly at the anti-heat plaster in the omega’s hand, “Can you use it?”
“How can I still use it? It’s a one-time use.”
Gu Chaocheng felt a little guilty, but he still put up all airs, “Why are you still out running around if you’re on your heat?”
“I need to work, if the boss wants you to go on stage, would you still refuse to go just because you’re in heat?”
Gu Chaocheng thought strangely: Why not?
However, the honey-peach scent became thicker and thicker, like it had melted in the air and spread out rapidly, cloyingly sweet. The little omega’s face turned redder and redder, his childish stage outfit made him appear very obedient, when he looked up at Gu Chaocheng, he looked even more delicate and pitiful.
Gu Chaocheng’s heart ached, and shouted that it’s wrong!
Using his heat to seduce him? Heh, he had seen too many of such tricks.
As the young master of the Gu family, after entering the company for so many years, he had come across many omegas and betas who relied on favouritism. Unfortunately, Gu Chaocheng was self righteous and never had anything to do with these flirtatious bitches.
He snorted coldy and spoke slowly, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. I, Gu Chao-”
Before he could finish, he was suddenly pushed out of the door. The omega quickly shut the door and shouted from inside, “Bodyguard ge, I have to trouble you to help me find anti-heat plasters, thank you!”
“…”
The half sentence that Gu Chaocheng hadn’t finished was stifled back in his throat. He pointed at the red wooden door but didn’t curse out.
What else could he do? Gu Chaocheng could only bear this hardship without a complaint and help the little omega find anti-heat plasters. Thankfully, this thing wasn’t hard to find. Soon, he borrowed a few pieces from his assistant, quickly walked to the door, knocked on it, and called out.
The little omega’s voice was already a little weak, he answered faintly, “Bodyguard ge, you can slip it under the door, okay?”
Gu Chaocheng felt a little soft-hearted and didn’t refute. He squatted down and complied. The anti-heat plasters were quickly snatched like a mouse stealing food.
After Gu Chaocheng finished this good deed, he heard the click of a tongue nearby as soon as he stood up.
He turned around and found that it was Tu Yan.
Wearing a high-end customized wedding attire, Tu Yan held his arms as he looked down at Gu Chaocheng, his eyes full of indescribable complexity, “Who would’ve thought that someone is the president of Hua Sheng group on the surface, but would secretly stuff a little card under the hotel door.”
“…” Gu Chaocheng had a headache the moment he saw Tu Yan. He waved his hand impatiently, “It’s Gu Chenbai’s good day today, I won’t argue with you.”
Proud of himself, Tu Yan ran all the way to Gu Chenbai, who was watching the wedding process, threw himself into his arms and said secretively, “Gu Chenbai, your ge is being a prostitute outside!”
Chapter 1
Xie Zhiyao almost died in this strange room. He wiped his tears, pasted on the anti-heat plaster and went to the bathroom to wash his face with cold water. Then he turned on the ventilator to wait until the smell on his body disappeared before he dared to go out the door.
That bodyguard ge was still standing outside, his face gloomy like he was sulking. Xie Zhiyao was stunned when he saw this, and thought that this bodyguard ge’s contours were a little more noble and exquisite than that of the average person’s, unlike an ordinary bodyguard’s. But he was confused and disoriented by the pheromones from his oncoming heat, so he couldn’t think clearly for a moment.
This person’s expressionless appearance was very handsome, more handsome than many alphas in the entertainment industry. From his sword-like eyebrows to his strong jaw, he grew perfectly on Xie Zhiyao’s aesthetic points. Xie Zhiyao secretly noted down this person’s appearance with his eyes.
With a little less awkwardness, Xie Zhiyao reached out and poked Gu Chaocheng’s arm, “Thank you, bodyguard ge.”
Thinking back, Gu Chaocheng turned his head and saw the omega being so close to him, so he hurriedly stepped back, afraid of becoming stained with the cloying smell of the omega’s pheromones.
Xie Zhiyao thought that this person was still doubting his identity, so he explained to him sincerely, “Bodyguard ge, I’m really not a thief, I’m Xie Zhiyao, an artist signed by Mr Qi He’s studio. I was brought here today to perform, and I especially like teacher Tu Yan. I wanted to ask him for a signature before the wedding starts, but you caught me before I could find him…”
Gu Chaocheng missed the point, “You like Tu Yan?”
“Yeah, he’s my male god.”
Gu Chaocheng had fallen to defeat by Tu Yan just five minutes ago. Hearing this now, he instantly flew into a rage, frowning as he said, “What bad eyesight.”
Xie Zhiyao had subconsciously wanted to defend his idol at first, but he felt that there was no point arguing with such a strange bodyguard ge, so he shrugged his shoulders and shut his mouth without answering.
At this moment, his phone rang in his trouser pocket. As soon as he was connected, he heard his manager shouting from the receiver, “Xie Zhiyao, where the hell did you go?!”
Xie Zhiyao was startled, he hung up the phone and hurried back. When he stepped out, he remembered something, and turned back to wave to Gu Chaocheng, “I’m going to perform! Bye, bodyguard ge.”
Gu Chaocheng looked down at his six-figure worth high-end suit and didn’t understand why someone was blind enough to recognize him as a bodyguard.
He glanced at a square notebook by the door with the corner of his eye. It looked like a notepad. Gu Chaocheng picked it up and saw a cute kitten and puppy on the cover of the little book, with three characters ‘Xie Zhi Yao’ written on the lower right corner.
The characters had no pen tip, round and blunt, just like the owner.
There was a faint fragrance on the book. Gu Chaocheng held it close and made out the scent of honey-peach.
He knitted his brows again. Omegas were really disgusting.
Before the wedding officially began, Gu Chaocheng sat back at his seat. Mother Gu walked up to him and pointed south-east, asking him in a low voice, “Chaocheng, what do you think of Ms Qin over there?”
Gu Chaocheng didn’t even look, “Nothing.”
Mother Gu slapped his shoulder angrily, “Chenbai even has a child now, why don’t you even have a partner?”
“What’s the necessary connection between the two?”
Mother Gu was so angry that her heart ached, “Forget it, I won’t bother with you anymore, you can live with your bad temper your whole life.”
Gu Chaocheng was silent. He didn’t understand why his mother always insisted on arranging blind dates for him, or why his family was particularly worried about him dying alone. He was obviously living a good life, busy with work, and his life was substantial.
For the first 27 years of his life, Gu Chaocheng spent it around his little brother Gu Chenbai. But now that Gu Chenbai had a wife and child, there was no time to talk about everything under the sun with him like before. Gu Chaocheng had adapted to it for a while, and very quickly smoothly shifted his life to center around his work. He took over Hua Sheng’s work fairly smoothly, every small and big thing occupying all his time.
He felt that this was pretty good, but everyone started to say he was a workaholic with a criticising tone.
It seemed like whatever he did was wrong.
Mother Gu headed off to other tables to greet the guests. A few minutes later, the lights dimmed, and the opening performance began.
Gu Chaocheng wasn’t interested in this kind of dance that young people liked. After looking around with a lack of interest, his gaze inadvertently fell on the stage, and then stopped abruptly.
That little omega really was one of the boy group members. He stood in the back row of the group, his actions meticulous, and the smile on his face was very bright. He looked down the stage between his dance steps, but froze when he caught sight of Gu Chaocheng, his rhythm became half a beat slower before quickly catching up.
When the music ended, the few boys stood in a row and bowed, then turned and headed backstage.
Gu Chaocheng was about to withdraw his line of sight, but he saw that omega called Xie Zhiyao secretly waving to him in the crowd with a smile on his face, as happy as meeting a good friend again.
He didn’t know what was there to be happy about.
Gu Chaocheng turned around, ignored the palpitation in his heart, and stretched out his hand to adjust the tablecloth.
Chapter 2
It had been three days since he met Xie Zhiyao.
On this day, Gu Chaocheng finished work at 10pm and drove home from Hua Sheng headquarters. The driver dropped him off when they passed Yu Feng road as usual.
Yu Feng used to be one of the earliest commercial streets in Ming city and was flourishing ten years ago. But nowadays, the development of Ming city was different from the past, there were more and more commercial buildings and Yu Feng road gradually declined. At 10pm at night, there were few pedestrians.
Gu Chaocheng walked from the head of the road to the end, when he saw a familiar figure on the sidewalk in the middle.
Xie Zhiyao was wearing white sportswear with a mask and a hat, holding a cup of Kanto in his hand while using his phone with the other, as he walked across the road with his head down.
Gu Chaocheng was seven or eight meters away from him, ready to stop and wait for Xie Zhiyao to walk further away before continuing. He wasn’t good at greeting others on the street. But at this moment, there was a car coming quickly. Xie Zhiyao was still staring down at his phone screen, unawaring of the approaching danger in the slightest.
Gu Chaocheng felt his heartbeat stop for a moment, the scene from ten years ago flashed in his mind.
A pale face, bright-red blood, the sudden braking sound of the car, the startling cry of passersby, and his little brother’s agony.
……
When Xie Zhiyao reacted, it was already too late. The headlights that were a short distance away were so bright that he couldn’t open his eyes.
But fortunately, someone grabbed his arm from behind and dragged him back. He staggered into a solid embrace, the man’s gasping breath filling his ears.
Their heartbeats interlocked, unable to differentiate whose was more intense.
Xie Zhiyao was in a daze for half a minute when he remembered to thank him, but he froze when he looked up, “It’s you? Bodyguard-”
Speaking halfway, he then remembered that this man was not a bodyguard. His manager said he was the big boss of Hua Sheng group.
Gu Chaocheng’s face wasn’t very good. He let go, pushed Xie Zhiyao away, got up and left. Xie Zhiyao didn’t care about his sore ankles and wrists. He caught up to him and grabbed his sleeve, but was thrown off.
He watched Gu Chaocheng’s figure hurrying away and thought it was strange: He was obviously the one whose life was hanging on the line, but Gu Chaocheng seemed to be the one who was more frightened.
Chapter 3
“Xie Zhiyao! Can you stop calling all those wild cats and dogs? Do you think you’re a Virgin Mary that helps all living beings?” Wu Ke threw away the coat Xie Zhiyao took off with a look of disgust.
Xie Zhiyao picked up his clothes and put them back where they were, refusing to give in, “What are you throwing my clothes for? I didn’t even carry a kitty.”
“I think there’s bacteria!”
Xie Zhiyao was too lazy to argue with him. He washed his hands with antiseptic hand sanitizer in front of him, then took a piece of tissue to wipe them dry. He then went to his wardrobe, picking and choosing for a long time, before finally picking out a satisfactory outfit with great difficulty.
Wu Ke looked at him suspiciously, “You’re going out?”
Xie Zhiyao hummed a tune, in a happy mood, “Yeah, I’m treating my saviour to a meal.”
“Do you have his contact?”
Xie Zhiyao wanted to say “I’ll just go to Hua Sheng to find him”, but thinking about Gu Chaocheng’s identity again, he was afraid that Wu Ke would think too much, so he just said, “No, I’ll walk around at Yu Feng road, maybe I’ll bump into him again.”
Wu Ke sneered and called him an idiot.
However, in fact, Xie Zhiyao’s actions were indeed a little silly, because he couldn’t get into Hua Sheng at all. Seeing that he didn’t make an appointment, and even appeared suspicious while wearing a mask and sunglasses, the person at the front desk wouldn’t even make a phone call for him.
Xie Zhiyao remembered that a few days ago, he had stupidly called that person ‘bodyguard ge’ and ordered him to buy anti-heat plasters for him. In the end, after getting off stage, he only knew after asking his manager that he was the dignified president of Hua Sheng group, Gu Chaocheng. The manager had said, “Why are you asking about him? Did you offend him?”
Xie Zhiyao’s face flushed red. Was calling him ‘bodyguard ge’ loudly considered offensive?
He looked up at the sky and sighed deeply. How could he lack eyesight to this extent?
There’s no other choice. He sat on the couch downstairs at Hua Sheng and waited until over 10 o’clock at night. Hungry and sleepy, he leaned against the armrest of the couch drowsily, when suddenly an invisible wave of oppressing force approached him. He opened his eyes and looked up in bewilderment, then was so startled that he jumped up straight from the couch.
To his surprise, it was Gu Chaocheng.
Gu Chaocheng looked down at him, his brows knitted together slightly, “What are you doing here?”
Xie Zhiyao stood up straight. Completely forgetting the speech he had prepared, he stammered, “That…Mr Gu, I came here specifically to thank you. You saved me the other time. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know if I could stand here today. I wanted to invite you for a meal in the afternoon…”
Xie Zhiyao scratched his head, and said in embarrassment, “But I forgot that you are the president and I can’t meet you without an appointment.”
“So you waited until now?”
Xie Zhiyao nodded, “Tomorrow, then?”
“No need, it was just a lift of the finger.”
As Gu Chaocheng turned around to leave, Xie Zhiyao grabbed onto his sleeve, but let go before waiting for Gu Chaocheng to get angry. He begged, “Mr Gu, give me a chance to repay you, alright?”
Sure enough, all omegas were exactly the same, used to pretending to be pitiful and think they can get anything they want by relying on acting cute and coquettish. Thinking of Tu Yan’s repulsive look, Gu Chaocheng immediately felt goosebumps all over.
“I said there’s no need-” Halfway through, he heard a grumbling sound coming from the stomach of the person in front of him.
Xie Zhiyao covered his stomach, his face turning red, “No, um, I-I’m just a little hungry.”
“What do you want to eat?”
“Eh?”
“Weren’t you going to treat? Now, only this once.”
Xie Zhiyao’s eyes brightened as he nodded vigorously, “Okay, okay!”
Chapter 4
In the end, they went to a Chinese restaurant that had midnight snacks. Xie Zhiyao pulled Gu Chaocheng to a quiet seat and handed him the menu like presenting a treasure, “You order!”
Gu Chaocheng had no requirements for food, everything was based on the portion of meat and vegetables as the preferred standard. With a wave of his hand, he ordered seven to eight dishes.
Xie Zhiyao was dumbfounded, thinking about how this president was different from the ones on TV. Gu Chaocheng squinted at him, “Heartache over money?”
“No, no, I just think you can really eat, and all the ones you ordered are this restaurant’s signature.”
Xie Zhiyao’s expression was very sincere. Gu Chaocheng reluctantly believed him.
After the dishes came one after another, Gu Chaocheng asked the boss for two bowls of rice, one for himself and one placed in front of Xie Zhiyao. He then picked up his chopsticks without saying a word.
Xie Zhiyao was stunned stiff again, and was suddenly in self-doubt; whose stomach was the one calling out just now?
But as he watched Gu Chaocheng eat, he thought that it was kind of weirdly cute. He was clearly in a suit and leather shoes, with an elite style, but the way he ate was like the little stray dog downstairs that Xie Zhiyao secretly took care of, without the airs of a rich person at all.
“Do you think I look stupid like this?”
“Hm?” Xie Zhiyao came back to his senses.
Gu Chaocheng put down his soup bowl and glanced at his watch, “You’ve been staring at me for ten minutes.”
Xie Zhiyao blushed slightly, “No, I just feel very happy watching you eat, like watching an eating broadcast on the internet, it looks delicious just from watching.”
“Why don’t you eat then?”
Xie Zhiyao plucked his chopsticks and said in embarrassment, “I’ve been so hungry that I lost my appetite, and I’m going on a program tomorrow afternoon, so I don’t dare to eat supper.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty one.”
Gu Chaocheng ordered a bowl of pork-ribs porridge for him and scolded, “What beauty dysmorphia? You’re not even fat, eat more.”
Xie Zhiyao sat properly with his legs together, suddenly thinking about what Gu Chaocheng said. He organized his words and hesitated to speak, “Mr Gu, I’m telling the truth. I really think the way you eat is especially good, I don’t mean to make fun of you.”
“Oh, I don’t care.”
Xie Zhiyao panicked, “Don’t misunderstand me! I can swear by poison.”
“It’s not a big deal,” Gu Chaocheng pressed down the arm Xie Zhiyao was holding high, “I believe you, okay?”
Xie Zhiyao looked at Gu Chaocheng and asked cautiously, “Was there someone who said this about you before?”
Gu Chaocheng ate a piece of hot-chili boiled fish and replied, “A blind date.”
Xie Zhiyao had a strong sense of substitution and immediately panted in outrage for the injustice on behalf of Gu Chaocheng, “That’s because they don’t understand! Eating is such a happy thing to do! Isn’t the greatest respect for food to eat them all? If you eat until you’re not even full, what’s the meaning of this pompous ritual?”
Gu Chaocheng was stunned, and then said after a long time, “Mn, I think so too.”
Xie Zhiyao smiled simple-mindedly.
After a while, the pork-ribs porridge was set on the table. Xie Zhiyao took a small bowl and filled it for Gu Chaocheng. Gu Chaocheng first made excuses and refused, but he still took it in the end and finished it in two to three mouths.
Xie Zhiyao bit his spoon and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
After eating, Xie Zhiyao went to settle the bill and came back with a few small plastic bags, “I want to pack some for the stray dog downstairs in my dormitory.’
Gu Chaocheng nodded and took the initiative to help him stretch out the plastic bag, waiting for Xie Zhiyao to find some meat from the soup like fishing for a needle in the sea.
Chapter 5
Xie Zhiyao also invited Gu Chaocheng to see the cats and dogs downstairs in his company’s dormitory, but Gu Chaocheng rejected.
He felt that being alone with an omega for three hours was already his limit.
When he returned home, Gu Chaocheng took off his suit jacket and instinctively felt that Xie Zhiyao’s scent remained on it. He suddenly felt vexed, subconsciously wanting to call Gu Chenbai to seek help, but as he glanced at the time showing one in the morning, he gave up.
Before going to bed, he thought of the image at Yu Feng road again. However, the person standing on the zebra crossing was no longer the fifteen year old Gu Chenbai, but the one who smiled with dimples and was always lively and skipping about, Xie Zhiyao.
That shouldn’t be it. Gu Chaocheng closed his eyes and thought: Tomorrow morning, his life would resume its peace again.
But Xie Zhiyao wasn’t as calm as he was. When Xie Zhiyao was on the way home, he was a little too excited. At this time, he held his little heart and climbed up one step at a time to his dormitory. When the manager came down from upstairs and saw his out-of-mind appearance, he asked, “Are you being a thief?”
Xie Zhiyao shook his head slowly, “No.”
The manager was alarmed, “Did you go on a date?”
Xie Zhiyao’s whole face flushed red as he hastily denied, “No, no, how could that be?”
The manager didn’t believe it even more, “Quickly break up after the date, don’t cause trouble for me.”
Xie Zhiyao pondered over it seriously and wanted to refute, but he still nodded his head in surrender in front of the manager’s sinister eyes. After the manager left, Xie Zhiyao’s happy little flame was put out as he walked back to his dormitory in low spirits.
Wu Ke was still awake. He was still on a video call with the rich second-generation person he just met. When he saw Xie Zhiyao come in, he immediately turned his phone to face another direction, afraid that Xie Zhiyao would be caught on camera.
Xie Zhiyao thought about Gu Chaocheng before bed and couldn’t help bending the corners of his mouth.
He thought that Gu Chaocheng was very cute. Although no one would agree with his point of view, and no one would even put the word “cute” on the 187cm tall and strong physique of Gu Chaocheng, Xie Zhiyao still thought he was cute. The way he ate was cute, the way he frowned was cute, everything was indeed cute, he was different from everyone else Xie Zhiyao had ever met.
Xie Zhiyao felt hotter the more he thought about it. He opened his blanket a little, but then instantly felt embarrassed and covered it back tightly. Within the soft heat occurring inside and out, he had a whole night of shameful dreams.
