Lop-Eared Guard - Chap 41
Before dinner time, Yan Yi looked down to take care of the roses in the flowerpot. Withered flower petals fell onto the table every day, and Yan Yi would then pick them up one by one and press them into an old book, which was a temporary replacement for his notebook.
The loose roses were more misshapen than when he first got them. However, even though they had changed beyond recognition, Yan Yi still treasured them, because happiness from a dream come true was not easy to come by.
Lu Shangjin’s assistant was very efficient. He soon brought back the miscellaneous items he had left at Ruins bar. After getting his things back, Yan Yi searched for a long time and checked repeatedly, but his notebook really wasn’t in there.
When he called the assistant, the assistant apologized repeatedly and said that everything in the room had been brought back, and if there was anything he forgot, he would go back to look for it again.
Yan Yi wasn’t used to bothering others, so he could only say that he found it.
Jin ge had already come back, and that notebook was no longer important. The score Yan Yi had given Lu Shangjin for the past few days had already been off the charts. Once the baby was born and this love crystallised, perhaps there wouldn’t be an occassion to reduce his score anymore.
Yan Yi sat back against the corner of the sofa and glanced at the quartz clock on the wall. He didn’t know if Lu Shangjin was still waiting for the examination results and wanted to call him, but the call didn’t go through when he dialed his number.
So, he just sent him a text.
‘Darling, are you coming back for dinner tonight?’
The message was like a stone falling into the sea.
Yan Yi looked at the screen, his heart feeling empty. The address “darling” would only be sweet if there was an answer.
He waited until 5:30 in the evening, but Lu Shangjin had not returned. After thinking about it, he decided to prepare dinner first and wait while preparing.
Yan Yi put on his apron and sorted the bow at the back, exposing his little tail to breathe. With a pair of soft suede slippers on, he stirred the creamy fish soup in the pot.
“Baby, we’re having fish soup today. You have to eat more later. Little bunnies have to be round and soft to be cute.”
Yan Yi held his belly and stroked it gently. When Lu Shangjin wasn’t around, the baby in his belly had become a little angel accompanying him to pass his loneliness.
If it were a peregrine falcon baby, that would be good as well. He hoped that it could have a more gentle temper.
Yan Yi counted the days in anticipation of the arrival of this wonderful little angel.
The sound of footsteps came from the door. Yan Yi’s ears suddenly stood up before he hurriedly turned off the fire and took off his apron, quickly walking to the door and prepared to welcome his alpha home.
The front door opened, but five to six doctors in white coats burst in all of a sudden.
Yan Yi took two steps back and watched them vigilantly, “What are all of you doing?”
There was a round branding on the neck of the doctor standing in front: PBB000576. The other doctors also had the PBB serial numbers on various parts of their body, and most were alphas of J1 grade.
“We’re here to deal with Yan-xiansheng’s false pregnancy. This type of false pregnancy can cause serious harm to the body and must be treated as quickly as possible.” The doctor put down the medical kit and gestured to the several physician assistants he brought along, “Inject the anaesthetic first.”
Four physicians swarmed him. Two of them grabbed Yan Yi’s arms while another one grabbed his hips to press him onto the sofa, and the last one took out a vial of anesthetic and sterile cotton balls.
“Let go of me!” Yan Yi had just recovered from the shock and struggled desperately, screaming, “It’s not a false pregnancy! I checked beforehand that I have a little bunny! Where did you all come from!”
A tube of anesthetic instantly spread to his four limbs along his blood vessels. Yan Yi’s struggles grew weaker and weaker. Due to being excessively frightened, the colour in his cheeks paled. He struggled to reach for his phone on the sofa and dialed Lu Shangjin’s number.
The moment the line connected, Yan Yi desperately tried to break free from the doctor’s hand, exhausting all his strength as he said to the receiver in despair, “Jin ge…help me…I’m scared…”
The phone hung up.
Yan Yi looked up with difficulty and saw Lu Shangjin standing in front of him with his phone, his face cold and detached, completely indifferent.
He weakly reached out his hands to Lu Shangjin.
Expecting his alpha to pull him out of hell.
“Please help me, Jin ge…”
“Why are you angry…I’ll be good in the future…very obedient…”
Lu Shangjin’s condescending gaze paused for a second, and there was a moment of hesitation.
The little rabbit looked like when he was younger, shivering as he knelt in a pool of blood at the differentiation base, dropping the gun before crawling over and opening his hand to him, feeling afraid and wanting Lu Shangjin to take him away.
“They want to kill our baby…” Yan Yi’s fingers gripped the sofa, faint bloodstains printed on the marks of his fingers.
The hesitation in Lu Shangjin’s eyes was instantly ignited by anger.
Yan Yi was enveloped by a wave of intense irritable pheromones.
Rich and full of aggressiveness, the scent of narcissus was like a pair of invisible hands choking Yan Yi’s neck, making his legs and feet turn weak and unable to move. With eyes wide open, he looked at Lu Shangjin in fear, whose gaze was full of hostility.
Lu Shangjin forcefully grabbed the omega’s slender neck and pushed him into the wall hard, pressing the weak little rabbit against the wall and narrowing his eyes at him:
“You lied to me.”
His beloved alpha was standing in front of him, but Yan Yi would always be shivering in fear when he touched him.
“Why…” He asked in astonishment and disbelief. Powerless to resist, he could only shield his fragile lower abdomen.
A few doctors came to grab him. Lu Shangjin locked Yan Yi in his arms and put his hands on his lower abdomen, pressing down forcefully, “I’ll do it myself.”
The little rabbit that once only belonged to him was broken and dirtied by someone else. He could only clean him up personally.
Instincts made Yan Yi unable to comply any more as he struggled frantically to grab Lu Shangjin’s wrist, trying to break free from the embrace that was restraining him. He shrieked in terror, “It hurts! Let go of me!”
“Jin ge, you promised me that you would love the baby, you promised me…I’ll take care of it alone, I’ll keep it a secret, please, please Jin ge…”
Lu Shangjin’s hands clenched with visible blue veins and trembled slightly.
He pressed Yan Yi down onto the floor and wrapped his arms around his slim body from behind, his forearms tightening around his lower abdomen, “You lied to me…what the hell did you and Xia Jingtian do when you were preparing for the gland replacement operation at the hospital?”
Yan Yi’s vision blurred with tears. It hurt so much that he couldn’t even complete a sentence, “I didn’t…I don’t know…I didn’t lie to you…”
Lu Shangjin gritted his teeth and gripped Yan Yi’s throat, forcing him to look at the video on his phone.
It was a surveillance video recording: Xia Jingtian entered Yan Yi’s intensive care ward and didn’t come out until the next morning.
“What was he up to for so long?” Lu Shangjin ruthlessly applied force, accompanied by another shrill scream of misery from Yan Yi.
It wasn’t the false pregnancy that he hated.
But it was the false pregnancy that unexpectedly occurred during the few days when he was on a business trip.
From the time when the examination report results came out till now, Lu Shangjin did a lot of things. He first enquired about whether the danger of a false pregnancy to a rabbit was to the point of death.
Later, he followed the usual traces and clues to associate with Xia Jingtian; the voice messages sent, the irritable interrogation Xia Jingtian had with Xia Pingtian when they were on the phone, and even his appearance next to Yan Yi at any time.
He went to investigate the small inn where Yan Yi stayed. There was no surveillance inside the inn, but there was outside. The surveillance showed that Yan Yi had gone downstairs to pick up Xia Jingtian, who then put his coat over Yan Yi and even gave him a bouquet of roses.
Lu Shangjin went to that little inn in person.
Business at the inn was bad. A few days after Yan Yi left, no one else occupied the room he stayed at.
Just as he walked into this narrow room, he could smell the remaining scent of an M2 alpha’s pheromones. The toilet was not ventilated, and it was filled even more with the dense rut pheromones; it was like the scent of baby’s breath burst into his nose provocatively.
This little kid whom he never paid attention to, had unexpectedly stolen his wife under his nose.
It was because he thought that he knew Yan Yi too well, and never thought that Yan Yi would lie to him, or would tell him such a big lie to humiliate him.
“False pregnancy…and still faking the real pregnancy report. Is it so fun to lie to me?”
“I should have known sooner. Rabbits are always in heat, it’s impossible for such a slutty thing to not be fucked for a day, right?”
“Is it fun to play me for a fool?”
Yan Yi betrayed him. This punishment was what he deserved.
He was already determined to return to his peaceful life, having hope after losing everything. Now, he learned that not only did this child not exist, even his wife was knocked up by someone else.
Everything he had used to support his spirit was a facade. The dead left him, and the living betrayed him. Lu Shangjin’s heart felt like it was suddenly ripped open by sharp claws. The alpha’s dignity had been unprecedentedly provoked and insulted.
“Tell me, how long have you been with Xia Jingtian? He cares so much about you, has he already fucked you ripe? Does it feel good to sleep with someone younger, Yan Yi?”
Lu Shangjin was so angry that his eyes seemed to nearly pop out, his mouth cursing revolting insults as he ruthlessly tormented the little rabbit to death.
Yan Yi’s voice became weaker and weaker, the pain and fear making him unable to think at all. He only knew that his most beloved alpha was desperately pressing onto his stomach to kill his baby.
“Jin ge…I really didn’t lie to you…the exam…says it’s real…I really have…a little bunny…”
A moment ago, Yan Yi was still faintly hoping that Lu Shangjin was coming to save him.
These hands were once clearly willing to suffer serious injuries for him and would hold him tightly to take him away from the abyss.
He had been deceived.
He had been deceived by Lu Shangjin’s deliberate use of forged tender consideration. After years of waiting bitterly, dreaming in vain, he had thought of countless possibilities of their future regardless of their past. However, he just didn’t think that Lu Shangjin, who seemed to have changed, was still cruel, but more so than before.
Yan Yi’s eyes lost their light as his blood gradually soaked through his pyjama pants, a stream of heat flowing down his thighs and onto the floor.
Lu Shangjin threw down a medical examination report and casually instructed the few doctors, “You all clean up the rest.”
The doctors standing five steps away were remaining silent out of fear, shocked by the cold hostility in Lu Shangjin’s voice. They hurried over to stop Yan Yi’s bleeding.
Yan Yi bit his pale lips. Trembling, he grasped the examination report and looked at the elegant penmanship of the lab results, stunned into silence.
“Diagnosis of false pregnancy.”
It was clearly real.
He only wanted to give birth to a little bunny to accompany him, so that he could feel less lonely whenever he misses Lu Shangjin at night.
He no longer had an alpha who loved him, and neither a little bunny anymore.
