Lop-Eared Guard - Chap 67

As though he naturally knew how to deal with grand or serious situations, Yan Yi walked beside Lu Shangjin with a polite, light smile on his face.
Even he himself was surprised.
When he entered the venue, Yan Yi saw a familiar omega sitting on an armchair by the glass curtain wall.
At the first glance at Yuan Mi, Yan Yi’s heart tightened slightly.
It was like seeing someone you didn’t like. After carefully thinking it over, the sense of familiarity this face gave him probably stemmed from his popularity.
It was because he followed him on Weibo and had scrolled to Yuan Mi’s drama modelling photos a few days ago. It may be that the black fans’ remarks were so excessively aggressive that they had even given him a poor impression of this actor.
Seeing Yan Yi looking at him from afar, Yuan Mi’s heart sank.
Was it possible that he had to stage an act as the original spouse to regain favour and make a scene of tearing the mistress up in public?
So he pretended to cough, uncomfortably placed his glass on the table, and took advantage of the interval in the opening of the show to go to the bathroom.
He smoked a cigarette alone in the cubicle and counted the minutes. Yan Yi should have gone to the booth with Lu Shangjin. With a sigh of relief, he went to the sink and looked in the mirror.
His bleached eyelashes had returned to their normal black colour, and a circle of the word “freedom” tattooed in flowery English letters on his neck had also been washed. Dressed in a light grey suit, he appeared obedient and restrained.
Some people in the circle knew their story, that he and Lu Shangjin had gone through a career low after the end of their relationship, but soon, there was a new alpha willing to flatter him.
In complete contrast to Lu Shangjin, this alpha liked those who were well-behaved.
Yuan Mi washed his hands and when he looked up, he saw Yan Yi in the mirror. Yan Yi didn’t notice he was here as he leaned against the sink and focused on scrolling through Weibo.
From the mirror, he could see that he was scrolling through Yuan Mi’s Weibo. Yuan Mi could even see his ID “How can you eat bunnies”.
The unlucky netizen, who had been scolded by his fans for being a sarcastic black fan praising his good acting skills, was actually him.
Yuan Mi gently composed himself, and did not dare to act wildly in front of the lady in the palace who was in the limelight, silently praying that Yan Yi wouldn’t notice him.
The assistant, Xiao Ning, brought a brand new suit vest over for Yan Yi to change into, and with an apologetic look, took away Yan Yi’s jacket that was stained with liquor.
Yan Yi adjusted the position of his opal cufflinks in the mirror and suddenly noticed Yuan Mi. He inclined his head to the side and smiled politely, releasing friendly milk-candy scented pheromones.
Yuan Mi froze for a moment, before responding with a little faint scent of iris. The concentration of the release was far lower than Yan Yi’s, in order to show that the other party’s status was more dignified than his own.
“Did you change your glands?” Yuan Mi asked in surprise. Yan Yi’s pheromones were much less oppressive than the last time he had seen him. He heard from a friend that Lu Shangjin had previously taken a liking to a hamster omega from the karaoke box who had a high compatibility fit with him, and had his glands removed with a small disagreement.
Seeing the manner in which Lu Shangjin had Yan Yi in the palm of his hand now, he had probably already replaced his glands with ones that had a high compatibility fit.
“What?” Yan Yi was stunned, blinking at Yuan Mi in confusion.
“…Sorry.” Yuan Mi thought that he just didn’t want to talk to him and smiled awkwardly, “I mistook the wrong person.’
After Yan Yi left, Yuan Mi leaned against the sink and fell into a daze for a while. He took his phone and scrolled through it unconsciously, searching for Yan Yi’s ID.
The latest post was sent a month ago, which had only two photos, one with Lu Shangjin holding Yan Yi from behind, showing an incredibly gentle smile to the camera. In another one, Lu Shangjin was kissing Yan Yi’s hair from the side.
That simple-minded silly rabbit’s wish was fulfilled. The corners of Yuan Mi’s lips tugged up reluctantly as he exited the page.
His phone was suddenly snatched away. Yuan Mi looked up and met the fiery gaze of an alpha.
The beautiful alpha, who had previously played the lead role of the rival king with him, was now his investor and husband.
“The exhbition started, come with me.” Not allowing him to refuse, the alpha took Yuan Mi by the waist and led him away, his large hand clamping tightly over his ribs. Despite the unbearable pain, Yuan Mi continued to smile.
Yan Yi was right. When he wasn’t on the job, his acting skills were really good.
The exhibition went smoothly, and a series of peacock-themed jewellery brought by famous jewellery designers were invited to participate in the charity auction.
The designer was in fact the omega father of the little grey rabbit they rescued from PBB before. He exchanged a few pleasantries with Lu Shangjin—words of gratitude—and clearly separated his relationship with Shao Wenjing between words.
Sitting on the single-person sofa, Yan Yi looked at his own reflection on the glass curtain wall and rubbed his temples.
He never thought that he would take the words “gland replacement” to heart. The more he thought about it, the more it bothered him.
There was such a thing in his impression, but in retrospect, it didn’t seem to have happened.
“What are you thinking about?” Lu Shangjin pressed on his head and rubbed, sitting on the arm of the sofa, “You must be tired. Are you tired of dealing with these kinds of occasions?”
While no one was around, Yan Yi pulled Lu Shangjin into the stairwell and hid in the cracks behind the door.
“Ge…I don’t feel well.” Yan Yi said in a muffled voice.
The string in Lu Shangjin’s heart straightened tightly again as he touched him from the glands at his nape to his body again, “Where do you feel unwell? Do you want to go to the hospital?”
“No…” Yan Yi grabbed the cuff of his suit and pressed his hand to his left chest, “It felt a little empty here, like receiving a text from you saying ‘not coming home for dinner tonight.’ Have you ever sent such a text?”
“No.” Lu Shangjin’s adam’s apple bobbed as he held his shoulder to comfort him, “I try to get home as early as possible every day and call you when I really can’t get away, right?”
The look in Yan Yi’s eyes was still deeply lost. He mumbled, “Is our compatibility fit really low?”
“No! It’s not!” Lu Shangjin held him tightly, fearfully cupping his cheek and kissed him, “Don’t think like that……please don’t think like that……”
His glands have grown again, and he didn’t know how old they had grown to.
The alpha’s nervous reaction exceeded what Yan Yi had imagined. He released a bit of pheromones to calm his alpha, “I’m just asking, it’s okay, I won’t leave you.”
His alpha was always insecure. Feeling heartache, Yan Yi held his hand, “Sorry, I mentioned something that bothers you, didn’t I?”
He became a little distant. At a loss for words, Lu Shangjin could only hug him tighter and change the subject slightly awkwardly, “Are you hungry? The buffet on the second floor should suit your taste. I’ll accompany you.”
Yan Yi didn’t want to affect Lu Shangjin’s work, but felt that his alpha needed a little company.
“Okay, I won’t take up too much of your time.” Yan Yi smiled.
Lu Shangjin stood helplessly in front of him and silently took his hand, “I can give you all my time…this exhibition is also just to make you happy.”
He didn’t know if it had backfired; would they need to open a carrot exhibition next time?
Lu Shangjin skillfully picked out a few of the vegetables, fruits and desserts that Yan Yi liked to eat, and was concentrating on deciding which flavour of pudding to take, when a pair of arms softly wrapped around the waist, followed by omega’s warm body plastered against him.
“You remember what I like to eat.” Yan Yi picked up a plate of things he chose himself, “I haven’t even learned what you like. Do you like these ones I took?”
Lu Shangjin glanced at it and knew that it must be food he liked to eat. His heart seized tighter as an idea quickly flashed through his mind; mark Yan Yi now, so he couldn’t leave him when he woke up later.
They sat in the private lounge, eating and feeding each other. Afterwards, they hugged and rolled over onto the sofa.
Lu Shangjin entered Yan Yi from behind, landing kiss after kiss onto the glands of his nape. His sharp canine teeth trembled as they gently rubbed the fragile, light red skin, hesitating for a while, before withdrawing back in agony.
Thinking that he would be bitten through his glands, Yan Yi tightly closed his eyes and waited for the sting of the mark. However, what came was the soothing pheromone that wrapped around his body.
Lu Shangjin hugged him fearfully, pacifying Yan Yi with soothing pheromones a hundred times stronger than usual, asking him like a young teenager, “Yan Yan, is it more comfortable like this?”
Yan Yi was almost drowned by the extreme tenderness in Lu Shangjin’s arms. With difficulty, he twisted around to caress Lu Shangjin’s cheek, “So comfortable…what’s the matter with you? What are you afraid of…mm- slow down…I’m all yours…”
Lu Shangjin kissed his lips, following along his ears to his glands, reverently like kissing the toes of a god.
The excessive release of soothing pheromones caused Lu Shangjin to feel pain. His glands were squeezed by an invisible hand, releasing all the soothing he could give to Yan Yi to make up for the lack of compatibility.
“You’re not mine…” Lu Shangjin’s voice held back a choked sob.
You’re getting further and further away.
