Lop-Eared Guard - Chap 81
The carved mermaid and waves on the body of the piano are the improvised masterpiece of an Italian artist. When played, the rich and clear sound is like the waves washing against the beautiful scales of the mermaid. Ye Wan prepared for Lu Shangjin’s birthday five years in advance, carving a bunch of interdependent lilies and tulips on the foot of the piano as their signature.
Yan Yi sat silently on the side, watching as Lu Shangjin refused to touch the piano for many years, but today he lightly touched the ivory keys and occasionally played a note to check the tuning.
Yan Yi only stared at Lu Shangjin’s hands, thinking about how they were warm and smooth like white jade when they first met, but now they are covered in scars.
Yan Yi silently counted the scars on his hands, confident that he knew the source of each one. The slightly deeper one was from when he was wounded by a drug dealer’s dagger while doing arms deals in the Golden Triangle. Those people became angry when their deal failed, and unfortunately, the wound ended up on Lu Shangjin’s hand, which Yan Yi avenged.
There were also several scars from shrapnel that Lu Shangjin had protected Yan Yi from. Since being scarred, Lu Shangjin no longer cared about his own hands but instead cared more about Yan Yi’s babyface. He used his hands to shield him from all the gunfire, complaining that no alpha likes an ugly little rabbit.
There were also four or five scars that Yan Yi did not recognize the origin of, and he did not delve into the reason because he knew he would not be able to figure it out.
This piece of music was also Yan Yi’s favorite to listen to. When Lu Shangjin played halfway through, he suddenly pressed down on some wrong keys, and then the sound abruptly stopped.
It had been too long since the piano was last tuned, and Yan Yi stood up to help tune it, but Lu Shangjin waved him off and hurried into the bathroom.
Lu Shangjin was hiding in the bathroom, his face already pale with sickness. Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, and he struggled to clench his right hand, his fingers stiff and trembling.
He took off his shirt in front of the mirror, revealing his right shoulder, where the three dark and deep wounds had oozed pus again. In fact, his injuries had been worsening these past few days, but he pretended to have recovered to allow Yan Yi to focus on taking care of himself and their baby, rather than worrying about his alpha’s body.
He was also afraid that Yan Yi would become suspicious, but he could only hide it from him because Yan Yi had not yet thought about his own gland. Lu Shang liked to see Yan Yi’s heartache because of himself, but he didn’t need to know anything more than that.
He had to hold on until the baby was born before going to the hospital. He couldn’t let Yan Yi feel anxious and not receive the comfort of pheromones during the pregnancy. That would be too hard.
Lu Shang pulled out a piece of new gauze and padded the wound to avoid staining his shirt. Just as he was putting on his sleeve, Yan Yi pushed open the bathroom door.
He held his phone, already contacted the hospital, and propped himself up against the door frame, like intercepting a good student for money at the school gate, without reason, tilting his chin slightly. “I’m going to the hospital this afternoon to look at my arm.”
Lu Shang was stunned, and suddenly didn’t feel any pain in his shoulder. He held his soft wife and pinched her waist and buttocks, reprimanding her in a low voice, “You’re getting more and more domineering.” He began to resent the little thing hiding in her belly and wanted to take good care of his wife but was greatly constrained.
The omega in his arms bit her pale red lips, and Lu Shang stared at her intently. His mouth felt dry, his Adam’s apple moved up and down, and he wanted to devour the little white rabbit and eat her clean in the nest on the cliff.
He lowered his head and tentatively approached, his lips lightly touching Yan Yi’s corner of the mouth, seeking permission. Yan Yi resisted and turned his head to push him away, but Lu Shang unexpectedly lost control and pressed him against the door frame, fiercely biting his lips
Lu Shangjin kissed him with closed eyes, forgetting everything else. While intermittently releasing his lips, he sensually held Yan Yi’s hand and coaxed him, “You need to learn to possess your own things. Plant a few small strawberries here for me.” He held Yan Yi’s hand and touched his own neck.
Yan Yi’s legs weakened from the kissing, and he fell into Lu Shangjin’s arms, with his hands still restlessly touching the fluffy ball of fur outside Lu Shangjin’s pants.
Although Yan Yi wanted to say something, he hid his worried eyes and buried his face in Alpha’s shoulder after several failed attempts to speak. He licked his reddened lips and put his rabbit ears on Lu Shangjin’s shoulders.
Unable to resist Yan Yi, Lu Shangjin had no choice but to stay at the hospital to recover from his injury. Yan Yi also stayed in the hospital room, and as the due date approached, Lu Shangjin became anxious if he didn’t see Yan Yi for even a minute.
During this time, Xia Jingtian and Gu Wei also came to visit Yan Yi in the hospital room. Lu Shangjin would slice fruit for Yan Yi and pour him juice, appearing magnanimous and gentle, as if he were a senior, but in fact, the entire room was filled with his oppressive pheromones.
Bi Ruijing also visited once and talked to Lu Shangjin about a few important matters before chatting casually. Yan Yi privately confided to Tan Meng once that Bi Ruijing’s ex-girlfriend, who had returned from abroad, had caused him trouble.
But Yan Yi didn’t mention that Bi Ruijing’s ex-girlfriend was found on the lawn on the first floor. The housekeeper called an ambulance, and Bi Ruijing didn’t dare to ask how badly she was injured. When he got home, Tan Meng threw a few pots and vases at him and even said, “Old lecher, get lost.”
After seeing off a few waves of visiting friends and colleagues, Lushang Jin put Yan Yi on his lap and hugged him from behind while peeling an apple and cutting it into small pieces to feed Yan Yi. Yan Yi silently ate what was fed to him.
Lushang Jin became vigilant when Yan Yi didn’t show any pickiness towards the food he was being fed. Like a large dog, he snuggled up to him from behind, and despairingly promised that nothing like this would ever happen in their family again.
In reality, no one was causing trouble for Yan Yi. Those who had a bit of self-awareness knew that his wife was off-limits.
But Yan Yi just couldn’t seem to muster any enthusiasm. He reluctantly tried to cheer up and comforted Alpha, saying he didn’t think about it too much.
Every night, Lushang Jin went to get medicine, leaving Yan Yi alone in the hospital room. Yan Yi sat by the bedside drinking porridge, occasionally touching the small foot that appeared on his belly.
He had long sensed that he would eventually succumb to this, but it was only a matter of time. His heart trembled, and he couldn’t help feeling a twinge of guilt. He was only tripping himself up, but he had to blame the child with his mouth.
After finishing the porridge and Lushang Jin still hadn’t returned, he put on his slippers and went to check.
Standing outside the operating room, through the glass, you could see the alpha inside baring his upper body, his broad shoulders and slim waist always catching the eye.
The three deep wounds on his shoulders were re-cut open and cleaned, and when the medicine was applied, the veins on his arm and neck tightened as he tightly gripped the white bedsheet at his side. He calmly tilted his head back, and the blood drained from his face.
Yan Yi remembers when he was very young, playing with him outside. In the morning, when they left the house, Lu Shangjin muttered under his breath that his shoes were rubbing his feet. When he came back in the evening, happy and carefree, Yan Yi noticed that a piece of skin had been rubbed off his heel.
Lu Shangjin had always been silent since he was a child, and even if it hurt, he would only swallow it silently, like a pearl oyster using its soft flesh to numb the pain.
Yan Yi didn’t wait for him, but instead acted as if he had never been there and went back to the ward to wash up and sit by the bed reading. In fact, he couldn’t really read more than a few lines of the book.
After another half hour or so, Yan Yi fell asleep with the book in his arms, vaguely feeling someone sitting next to him and slowly pulling the book out of his embrace and placing it on the bedside table.
Lu Shangjin gently placed his fingertips into Yan Yi’s palm, and the bunny’s hand tightened around his fingers in a daze, as if he had gotten some candy. The tired eyes of Lu Shangjin lit up.
The large hand covered in old scars took Yan Yi’s hand. Lu Shangjin bent down and placed Yan Yi’s hand on his own lips. He gently touched Yan Yi’s curled and light eyelashes with his index finger and carefully touched the small fetus in his stomach. He whispered “Goodnight.”
After turning off the light, Lu Shangjin sat on the other bed and struggled to unbutton his shirt with one hand. He lazily lay down in bed and was immediately thirsty. He reached for the thermos bottle on the bedside table.
His fingers trembled and he almost couldn’t hold the cup steady. Hot water spilled onto his fingers, causing Lu Shangjin to frown. He quickly got up, put the cup back in place, and glanced at Yan Yi. He was afraid of waking up the pregnant omega who sometimes had trouble sleeping.
But Yan Yi had already sat up, found his slippers on the floor, and poured a cup of water from the thermos bottle for Lu Shangjin.
While apologizing, “I woke you up,” Lu Shangjin reached out to take the cup of water. However, Yan Yi kept holding the cup near his own mouth.
Lu Shangjin was surprised but drank the water from Yan Yi’s hand and softly laughed, comforting him, “I had cramps just now, it was really…”
Then his neck was hugged softly.
Lu Shangjin was motionless and blank in the head. It wasn’t until a delicate and gentle soothing pheromone wrapped around his body and the sweet taste of candy smoothed out the pain in his shoulders.
Alpha couldn’t help but childishly hug his waist and bury his head into Yan Yi’s chest, letting Yan Yi place his hands on Alpha’s excruciatingly painful shoulders as his body trembled uncontrollably.
Yan Yi stood in front of him, gently caressing Alpha’s head, humming the melody he had played for him not long ago, slowly and softly.
Lu Shangjin carried him to bed and squeezed together on a single bed, tightly pressed against each other, foreheads touching, entangled in kisses, tongues twining, fingers interlocking.
Neither of them remembered when they fell asleep. Yan Yi only remembered that Lu Shangjin kept whispering in his ear, saying “I love you” dozens of times, and at the end, Land Golden Silk’s voice became sticky and aggrieved, gradually calming his breathing.
Yan Yi was awakened by a sudden, slow-to-fast pain.
When he woke up, his whole body was already soaked in cold sweat, and something wet was flowing down his thigh.
He drowsily opened his eyes and saw Lu Shangjin telling him to lie still and pressing the call button calmly and skillfully, though his eyes were already panicked almost to the point of suffocation.
