Lovely Allergen - Chap 28
Le Zhishi made a shushing gesture and gently tugged at Song Yu’s pajamas sleeve. His big, pitiful eyes begged him not to expose himself.
Song Yu cleared his throat and recovered from his unnatural expression. He didn’t intend to expose anything and prepared to leave.
But Le Zhishi tugged at his sleeve again and shook his head at him. He was wearing grayish-blue pajamas, and his hair was a little messy. From Song Yu’s perspective, he looked particularly weak and soft.
Song Yu stopped in his tracks and looked at Le Zhishi for a few seconds. There was a helpless expression on his face, so he took another step forward to get closer to Le Zhishi.
Le Zhishi pointed at his stomach and showed Song Yu the cinnamon roll in his hand. Song Yu roughly understood what was going on. He took a sip of water and looked very calm.
Lin Rong was the first to speak. “Yu, there’s cinnamon rolls in the oven. Try it. They’re delicious.”
Song Yu grunted indifferently, but his eyes were fixed on Le Zhishi and the icing on his cheeks.
“It does look delicious,” Wang Yao said.
Le Zhishi quickly finished half of the roll in his hand and wiped his face and hands clean.
Lin Rong was very pleased to receive a compliment from her eldest son, who didn’t like to talk much. “Then bring it to your classmates tomorrow. Little Yan will love it.”
“Okay.” Song Yu held the bottle of water in his hand. He thought about it and decided to help this guy out of his predicament. So he said to his parents, “Aren’t you going to take a shower and rest?”
Lin Rong leaned on her husband. “There’s no hurry.”
Song Yu said again, “It’s very late.” He walked out and pointed at the clock. “You’re going up and down the stairs. You’re disturbing your biological son’s sleep.” These words sounded a little funny when he said it so calmly and coldly.
Song Jin felt that it made sense. He stood up with a smile and prepared to go upstairs. Lin Rong was amused. She stood up from the sofa and ran to Song Yu. “Yo, you’re jealous of Le.”
Le Zhishi thought that she was going to come over. He was so scared that he shrank behind the fridge and sat directly on the counter.
Song Yu’s expression didn’t change. He grabbed his mother’s shoulder and pushed her out. “Go upstairs and take a shower.”
After chasing his parents upstairs and making sure that they closed the door to the master bedroom, Song Yu walked back to the open kitchen. He found it a little funny when he saw Le Zhishi sitting on the counter.
But he didn’t laugh, because when he thought about it carefully, he felt that Le Zhishi was very pitiful.
He didn’t want Le Zhishi to fall into such a predicament again.
“Thank you, big brother.” Le Zhishi came down and asked him to go up with him and block for him in case Lin Rong came out again.
Song Yu knew that he wouldn’t be able to block him, but he still agreed. He walked him all the way to the bedroom door. It was scary but not dangerous. Before closing the door, Le Zhishi said goodnight to him very softly. Song Yu nodded. Then, he heard Le Zhishi say.
“Brother Song Yu, don’t be angry. It’s not good for your health.”
He was very serious when he said those words. It was obvious from his expression.
Song Yu suddenly didn’t know what to say.
His calm heart was always filled with complicated emotions because of the person in front of him. During the day at the hospital, he went out to look for him because he was washing apples and couldn’t find his way. He accidentally heard those words. He knew that the other party was a lowly relative, and he knew that as a junior, he shouldn’t have said those words. But Song Yu still said it, and he didn’t feel happy after saying it.
He began to believe that everything in the world was fair. When you thought that you were generally indifferent to others, then the empathy you lacked would gather in a certain person.
He hated empathy. The psychological effect of suffering for others was continuous and uncontrollable. It was even worse after seeing Le Zhishi’s face.
For example, at this moment, it began to act up again.
Le Zhishi thought that he had said what he wanted to say and prepared to close the door. He saw Song Yu’s figure outside the door cut into small strips by the gap. They became thinner and thinner until they were almost a line. Then, a hand reached in and grabbed the door frame.
“I’m not angry.”
He was very surprised and even a little anxious as he opened the door.
He almost caught Song Yu’s hand.
But his mood changed too quickly. Le Zhishi didn’t have time to ask or show concern before it changed again.
Song Yu, who was standing outside the door, was shrouded in the shadows of the corridor. He reached out and pulled Le Zhishi, who was covered in warm light inside the door, into an unexpected hug.
“Don’t be sad.”
Le Zhishi couldn’t calm down for the whole night. He didn’t know why. It was probably because too many things had happened that day. He woke up in the middle of the night. Le Zhishi got out of bed, turned on the desk lamp, and sat in front of the desk. He took out the study plan that he had spent more than a week writing down and read it carefully again.
It was full of loopholes and was not feasible. Le Zhishi evaluated it in his heart and then decided to give up the plan for this reason.
In fact, when he heard Lin Rong’s words, he felt even worse than when he heard his aunt’s cold words during the day. Because they were too good, Le Zhishi couldn’t accept these good things with a clear conscience like a child who didn’t know anything. But he couldn’t save enough money in the remaining time to study abroad.
And Aunt Rong would be very reluctant to part with him if they all left here.
He crumpled the plan into a ball, climbed into bed, and went back to sleep. This time, he slept much more soundly. It was just a dream.
In the dream, he was at the airport sending him off, crying non-stop. In the end, Song Yu had no choice but to hug him.
He said not to be sad.
That was a dream, Le Zhishi told himself when he woke up in a daze in the morning.
Because he wouldn’t let himself cry.
For several weeks after giving up the study abroad plan, Le Zhishi had a relatively easy time. But he knew that if Song Yu was going out, it meant that they might not see each other more than a few times a year. Le Zhishi could foresee that he wouldn’t have an easy time. He had never been separated from Song Yu for such a long time.
When he thought of this, Le Zhishi’s heart felt like it was being gently twisted by someone. So he decided to let himself adapt in advance, and the way to adapt was to resist looking for Song Yu as much as possible.
At first, it was quite difficult. After all, Le Zhishi’s world almost revolved around Song Yu. Especially after other people knew about their relationship, he became even more unscrupulous and followed Song Yu to and from school. But Le Zhishi was a serious person. No one could change his mind once he decided on something. He was sure that Song Yu wouldn’t come looking for him. He was busier than him. But they had other ways of communicating, such as the post-it note on the refrigerator door and the supper talk.
Le Zhishi didn’t deliberately avoid it. He just wanted to learn how to grow up.
Studying was a very good way to divert attention. Le Zhishi was fully immersed in it. He stayed in school during the lunch break and stayed up late to revise every day. His grades improved significantly. In the mid-term exam, he ranked 23rd in the grade. Le Zhishi, who had been lazing around, jumped into the ranks of the top students in the class. The homeroom teacher, Wang Qian, was so happy that he praised him for more than a minute before the evening self-study session.
After the exam, it was Le Zhishi’s turn to wear the armband on duty. After the evening self-study session, he and another student on duty took a notebook and patrolled the assigned area to record the areas that didn’t meet the standards.
Le Zhishi found it strange. “Why did Peiya choose to do the hygiene inspection at night? I can’t even see clearly.”
His male classmate laughed. “Maybe it’s not just a hygiene inspection.”
Le Zhishi looked at him. He joked, “Isn’t our nickname the anti-pornography brigade?”
Would anyone really fall in love in such a dark place? Le Zhishi thought.
It was clearly a horror movie. How could he be moved?
The road outside Yang Shulin was close to the cafeteria. It was often the most polluted area. His classmate took notes. Le Zhishi looked around and accidentally caught a glimpse of a familiar figure who seemed to be using a mobile phone’s flashlight. There was a beam of light in the darkness.
He immediately recognized that it was Song Yu. It was just his back view.
Song Yu entered the old school building behind Yang Shulin. It was blocked by iron railings. He had heard that it would be torn down soon. Le Zhishi was a little curious and walked over unconsciously.
When he got closer, he saw Song Yu squatting in front of the iron railings and taking out a bag from his bag. He couldn’t hold it with both hands. The flashlight’s light was deflected and shone on the grass behind the railings. Something was walking towards him.
The stray cats in the school.
There were quite a lot of them, one after another. They seemed to have developed a habit of appearing at this time and place and gathering here. They were waiting for Song Yu to take out the cat food and put it in a small bowl in the corner so they could enjoy their dinner.
Le Zhishi finally understood why Song Yu would put the cat food in his bag and bring it to school.
He didn’t know why, but his heart beat faster. It was numb, as if he had been licked by a kitten.
“What are you looking at?” His classmate also came over. “Is there really someone hiding from a date?”
Le Zhishi turned his face guiltily and shook his head. “No. I was distracted.”
He didn’t walk towards Song Yu. He didn’t want his peers to discover Song Yu’s whereabouts.
Most of the time, Le Zhishi was the only one who could understand Song Yu. He knew that if anyone appeared in front of Song Yu and “witnessed” his behavior, Song Yu wouldn’t be too happy.
He was a very strange person. He couldn’t make his kindness public.
So even his gentleness was very secretive.
“What’s wrong with you?” His classmate saw him in a daze and was a little curious.
Le Zhishi just shook his head. “I was prejudiced.”
“What?” His classmate didn’t understand, but Le Zhishi just played Tai Chi to fool him.
He prejudiced that such a scene wasn’t suitable for his heart to move.
Before he saw Song Yu in the dark.
When he returned home at night, his mind was a little distracted by his homework. He drew a picture.
A cold high school student in a uniform and a group of lonely stray cats.
After he finished drawing, Le Zhishi was in a daze for a long time until he heard the sound of the door opening next door and Song Yu coming downstairs. He suddenly woke up and turned the paper over on the table. He took a few deep breaths and began to do his homework.
Lin Rong was the happiest person with the big improvement in his grades. On the night of the monthly break, she cooked a table full of dishes. The magnificence was comparable to the New Year’s banquet. Le Zhishi had been too tired and tense during this period. He caught a cold on the day of the monthly break. He took medicine and slept for the whole afternoon. He went downstairs in a daze and met Song Yu, who had just come back from the break.
He didn’t know if it was because he was too sleepy, but he had a strange feeling that he hadn’t seen Song Yu for a long time.
He had peeked at him not long ago.
The cold medicine tasted bitter in his mouth. For the first time, Le Zhishi wasn’t interested in a celebratory dinner. He chewed a piece of beef brisket 20 times before swallowing it. At the dinner table, Song Jin and Lin Rong praised him. On one hand, Le Zhishi was very happy, but on the other hand, he was a little unhappy.
However, he couldn’t explain why he was unhappy. He would only look at Song Yu’s face when he was unhappy.
Song Yu ate slowly and quietly. He was no different from usual. He was used to finishing his meal with a little soup, so when he drank the last bit of soup, Le Zhishi guessed that he was about to finish eating and was ready to leave. His unhappiness was even more obvious.
However, it was different from what he had expected.
Song Yu put down his bowl and said to his parents, who were focused on their children’s travel plans after the college entrance examination, “I’ve decided about the school we talked about before.”
Song Jin put down his chopsticks. “Really? Which school? ” He understood Song Yu’s personality. He knew that he had been a very opinionated child since he was young, so he said, “The few schools that Dad mentioned last time are all for reference only. I think they’re not bad. As for how you choose, it depends on which major you want to study. Anyway, you’ve chosen to enroll in school next spring. There’s still time.”
Song Yu waited for his father to finish speaking before saying, “Dad, I don’t plan to go abroad.”
