Mr. Dior - Chap 11
It was already past ten o’clock in the morning when the couple had their breakfast, and Zhang Chenfei is already preparing to go to the company as he walked forward to drive the car. He was just about to tell his little substitute to obediently stay at home when he saw that the guy had already dressed himself up in a suit and directly went to sit in the front passenger seat.
“What, having experienced serving me once, you don’t want to be away from me anymore? And you even want to come with me to the company, hmm?” The president is very pleased with himself. The little substitute is so clingy and likes to stick to him so much, letting him have an illusion that he was not a substitute, but Yanyan himself.
“That’s not it. I’m going to my company. Every Monday, there’s a morning meeting going on.” Jiao Qi is afraid that his lao gong will forget the road going to his company, so he used his smart brain to connect to the car navigation, positioning the location of Bajiao.
‘Does the little substitute have a job? I don’t remember that there was such an opportunity for him to get one.’
This information surprised the president. He thought about it for a moment before saying, “Alright. Looking at the fact that you obediently took the oral contraceptive today, I will allow you to ride in my car.”
‘This is my car…’ Jiao Qi turned and just rolled his eyes, as he doesn’t feel like arguing with him this time.
The silver Maserati speedily drove out of the villa area. Since the morning rush hour has already passed, the whole journey all the way was smooth.
The morning meeting in Bajiao has already begun, so Jiao Qi used his smart brain to watch the live broadcast from Yu Yuan (his secretary) and listen to their report.
Zhang Chenfei couldn’t see the content of his lovely little wife’s smart brain. Reason why when he saw Jiao Qi in a daze, he thought that it was because he was thinking of a certain someone.
At this, Mr. Dior’s eyes dimmed and reminded Jiao Qi. “You are already my man. In the future, you should forget about that poor boy. I don’t want Yanyan’s substitute to be thinking of others while pretending to be him.” Outrageously unreasonable words were spoken by president-daren, as if it’s just right and proper.
“Huh?” Jiao Qi was confused as he was still watching the video conference when Zhang suddenly spoke to him. When he got his composure back, he then asked, “Poor boy? Who?”
Zhang Chenfei’s hand on the steering wheel couldn’t help but tighten, as he replied in a cold voice, “Chenfei, the name you accidentally called out yesterday. Don’t think that I didn’t hear it. As my man, you have to only think of me. If you will let me hear this name again later on, I will make him disappear in this world forever!”
“…” Hearing this, the little substitute was left speechless. Now, he is even more worried that he might write his name as Dior Zhang when he signs documents in the office.
The Bajiao company during Mondays is busy yet orderly.
Employing his fastest speed, Jiao Qi finished all his tasks and business transactions in Bajiao. The lovely little wife doesn’t feel reassured so he decided to go to Shi Fei Technology to see his lao gong.
He was just out of the president’s office when a fashionable young man barred his way.
“President Jiao.” A crafty-looking man came up, but one wouldn’t be able to see through it due to how the young man dressed up. Looking at him, it turned out to be the TV anchor of the show ‘Feeding the Dog with a Good Intention’ where there was a recent dispute on the said anchor’s contract renewal fee. {T/N: This was briefly mentioned in Chapter 5 Part 1.}
“Is there something?” Jiao Qi did not like this kind of blocking-the-way move. “Talk to my secretary to set an appointment first.” As soon as he finished speaking, Jiao Qi motioned to leave as he lifted his foot to walk away.
The young anchor got choked for a while. As a live broadcast anchor with millions of fans, he was hailed as the number one emperor under the heavens, and even the popularity of Lao-tze (or Lao Zi – a Chinese philosopher, the founder of Taoism) is second to him. Why does he need to make an appointment just see the president?
“I have an urgent matter. There’s not enough time to make an appointment, and I will only delay you for two minutes.” Mr. Anchor stretched out his arm that’s full of glittering jewelries and blocked the path of Jiao Qi.
Jiao Qi narrowed his eyes and quickly looked at the time. “Fine. Speak.”
This anchor, who is a retired e-sports player and is mainly playing live broadcast games, is named Gou Xin. His popularity is pretty good. As such, Bajiao also wants to keep him, but because other live broadcast platforms also extended an olive branch to him, he is now demanding for a bigger pay.
“I just want to know why my contract was terminated in the middle of discussing about it?”
The director, who was in charge of having the contract signed with Bajiao’s Live Broadcast, is the only who could put up a fight with Taiji [1] (aka President Jiao). Previously, he said that his prerequisite in renewing the contract should be discussed with President Jiao. To one’s surprise, the result of the discussion is to actually wish him well in his future career prospects! He asked for an additional 30 million yuan on top of the original contract price which is much higher than the price given to other artists in the same line of profession. The management rules here in Bajiao is relatively light so he also does not want to leave.
{T/N: [1] 太极 Tài jí – the Absolute or Supreme Ultimate, the source of all things according to some interpretations of Chinese mythology. }
“I reviewed the data analysis and if we agreed according to the price you requested, the profit margin will drop more than what is anticipated.” Jiao Qi expressionlessly answered.
“Impossible! How much money do I make in the platform every year?! Not only that, my popularity is constantly rising! My name was also mentioned as the spokesperson for Shi Fei’s new game next year. This single endorsement is more than…”
“I don’t think you have figured it out yet.” Jiao Qi raised his hand slightly, stopping the other party’s meaningless and increasingly louder arguments. “Shi Fei Technology is my husband’s company. Whoever will be the company’s spokesperson, I call the shots.”
At that time, when Director Liang calculated the profit margin, he also included Shi Fei’s endorsement fee, so the result was inaccurate. The bottom line is, both are their family’s businesses, and whoever leaves Bajiao cannot be a spokesperson for Shi Fei. Even without these reasons, “Feeding the Dog with Good Intention” is absolutely not worth the price.
“Then how much can you give?” Gou Xin gripped his clenched his fists tightly and looked at the appearance of the young master who lives high and looks down [2]. This look really makes him mad.
{T/N: [2] 居高临下 | jū gāo lín xià – It means to live high and look down (idiom); to overlook; to tower above; to occupy the high ground; fig. arrogance based on one’s social position.}
He was born in poverty and eventually got mixed in an average professional team. With great difficulty, he became a popular TV anchor and thought that he had finally become a person who is superior to others. But once he’s in front of President Jiao’s calm and unwavering pair of eyes, he feels that he is a nobody.
“Talk to Director Liang regarding the contract matter.” Jiao Qi glanced at the time, “Two minutes have already ended.”
“Excuse me. Please make way. The president’s schedule is quite tight.” Yu Yuan twisted his fat body, and slammed the sly fellow while he signaled the security guard who was standing by the elevator. The security guard immediately came forward and pulled the guy who wanted to make trouble away.
Looking at that calm and tall back of the retreating figure, Gou Xin couldn’t help but yell, “You really thought that you have the final say in Shi Fei’s matters?! But, you are merely a substitute…”
Jiao Qi’s footsteps suddenly stopped. Looking back at the big anchor who looks like a cornered dog jumping over the wall [1], he slightly frowned as he spoke, “Gou Xin, if you still want to mix within the live broadcast circle, pay attention to your words.”
{T/N: [1] 狗急跳墙 | gǒu jí tiào qiáng – It means a cornered dog will jump over the wall (idiom); to be driven to desperate action}
There is no undulation in Jiao Qi’s tone, so the hotheaded youngster instantly calmed down and shut his mouth, as he began to become anxious.
Jiao Qi is now having some headaches. Yesterday, the game conference was held. He didn’t know what Zhangda Diao, this guy, had said to others as it unexpectedly passed on to Gou Xin here.
Really, it was only a while that he did not look after him and something already went wrong.
He went out to call Li Yingjun, and asked him to help check the list of participants yesterday along with the people who came in contact with Zhang Chenfei. Listening to the voice of Li Yingjun over the phone who seemed hesitant to speak, he thought that he is just worried. “Really, it’s not what you think.”
After rushing to Shi Fei Technology, Jiao Qi’s worry wouldn’t subside.
More than a dozen documents on the table were signed with beautiful English curlicues – Dior Zhang – which he could hardly bear to directly look at.
Looking at the documents carefully, it was fortunate that those are internal documents of the company, and there is no significant business contract. Jiao Qi grabbed the coffee from the hands of the president and splashed it directly on to those documents.
Zhang Chenfei watched helplessly at the little substitute as he did it. There wasn’t even a bit of disguise, nor was there a cover up for the fall. He directly poured the coffee on the document he had just signed. “What are you doing? Do you know how important these documents are?”
Jiao Qi ignored him, and pressed the small bell for the secretary to come.
This little substitute is really not free from worry, using all means to seduce him. Early this morning, he provoked him to make a mistake. What does he wants to do now? Let the secretary see the love bites on his body and make it known to everyone to stabilize his Madame Zhang’s status?
He pressed the little substitute on to the boss’s chair, and placed both his hands on the armrest to trap him, “Very good, you have succeeded in attracting my attention.”
The secretary knocked on the door and came in.
“These documents are destroyed. Let the people send another copy.” Jiao Qi pushed his lao gong away and pointed to the things on the table to the secretary.
“Yes!” The secretary immediately tidied up the desk with his agile movements and informed each department to send a new document again. Then he left the president’s office without turning back, and did not even raise his head all throughout to look at the both of them where dark tides surge violently.
When the secretary left, president-daren carried his lovely little wife and placed him on top of the desk, then poked his small chest muscles. “Put away your dirty thoughts. I will not be fooled for the second time. Provoke me again, and I will do you in front of the whole company.”
The rude words made the lovely little wife blush. He was very moved and like before, he patted his lao gong’s head.
“You dare to pat my head? I think you are tired of living!” The president was in rage. “Who do you think you are? Only Yanyan is qualified to hit me!”
” … ”
The daring little substitute was pressed on the desk. When Mr. Dior’s fingers touched the expensive suit, he hesitated. The Jiao Qi wearing a suit is not the tender and delicate Jiao Yan that he recalled in his memory. What happened this morning was already a mistake, and he could not commit the same mistake again.
Jiao Qi didn’t know what’s running in his family’s lao gong head. Over the next few days, he didn’t touch him again. At most, he would just kiss him but they didn’t do anything deeper than that.
In the evening, the two people slept in the downtown apartment. There’s only one bed inside, and to one’s surprise, Mr. Da Diao used a pile of big pillows to create a boundary between them.
This cycle seems to be longer than the last time. Jiao Qi did not feel reassured so he called Que De. That guy gave the kind of “probably the length of this novel is longer than the previous one” random babble as a reason. Jiao Qi always wished to go to the Health Bureau and report him.
It’s fine if they were not intimate. At least their kidneys will be maintained well. The horrible thing is, Zhang Chenfei will give him salt and pepper spare ribs to eat every day.
Jiao Qi does not like to eat salt and pepper spare ribs. This always reminds him of the nickname he was given in high school. At that time, his stomach was not good, and the food he ate were used to enhance growth development.
The teenage boys of his age were growing muscles, and only his looked like spare ribs. When he takes off his shirt, he will most likely suffer from ridicule.
“Jiao Yan’s ribs looked like salt and pepper spare ribs, hahahaha…”
In the past, all kinds of food that smell, look and taste great were given to him. And every time the salt and pepper spare ribs is placed in front of his eyes, he can’t help but get mad. Jiao Qi pushed the plate away and refused to eat it.
“This is what Yanyan likes to eat.” Zhang Chenfei clipped a piece of spare ribs and put it into the bowl of Jiao Qi, indicating that he should eat.
“When did I like eating this?” Jiao Qi was very puzzled. Since high school to date, he never liked this dish.
Zhang Chenfei raised his eyebrow and thought that the little substitute is cooperative today and his temper is pretty good. With this, he would be able to tell him about his first love. He clipped a piece of spare ribs and bit it with deep affection, “All his classmates call him salt and pepper spare ribs. It must be because he likes to eat it.”
“Pfff—-!”
