Mr. Dior - Chap 65
Everyone had no clue what on earth “little swimmers” had to do with anything. The outstandingly professional journalists noted down what Zhang Chenfei said word for word, and went back to conduct detailed analysis on it.
Jiao Qi could guess what the rumours would be the next day.
“BREAKING NEWS! The popular male celebrity harasses Zhang Chenfei – all for a bottle of his little swimmers!”
Afraid that someone might come over to blindly ask troublesome questions, Jiao Qi decided to drag his Laogong home before the buffet ended. It was a Friday, and they went straight back to their villa.
“He’s the sea snake demon who kept pestering me last time. His name is Yaoyao Ling,” Zhang Chenfei explained, opening the car door for his little wife.
Jiao Qi hadn’t heard of any sea snake demon before, but he did know about Yaoyao Ling – that was the effeminate shou who had chased Zhang Chenfei when they were in university. According to gossip he’d heard from Gao Shiqing, Zhang Chenfei had rejected Yaoyao Ling back then, but the fellow refused to give up, sending text messages to harass Zhang Chenfei every day. He had eventually just given Zhang Chenfei a copy of his room card and asked Zhang Chenfei to sleep with him just once. Zhang Chenfei had been so irritated then that he nearly gave the fellow a good beating.
“Wasn’t Yaoyao Ling a weak-looking chap?” Jiao Qi asked, surprised. He thought back on what Ling Yao had looked like – his physique and face were a complete 180 from what he remembered that effeminate Yaoyao Ling to be.
“I don’t know how that happened, either. Perhaps they used Korian voodoo on him,” Zhang Chenfei said, sighing. There was too much demonic magic on land, and even a great God of the Sea like himself could not always identify things that had been magically modified accurately.
When they returned to the villa, Zhang Chenfei insisted on princess-carrying his little wife up the stairs. His little wife had been walking all day and he refused to let him walk any more. He peeled the clothes off Jiao Qi and put him straight into their jacuzzi. Well, it was actually more like a pool than a jacuzzi. The sunken bath was more than three metres in diameter, and the surface of the water was flush with the ground.
The warm, pale blue water spurted out from all sides of the jacuzzi, covering the little merman’s fair-skinned body. His two slender legs moved with the force of the water jets, and they looked even more beautiful than a golden fish tail. Lord Poseidon looked at them for a moment, and suddenly felt like he never wanted to return Jiao Qi’s tail to him ever again. He wanted to trap the little merman in his arms and hug him tight every day.
Zhang Chenfei shook his head, trying to get this dangerous thought out of his mind. He turned and went to get something for his little wife to drink.
Jiao Qi pulled off his IntelliBrain, Anne, which was still on his wrist, and put it on the smooth, round stones next to the jacuzzi. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the sensation of being massaged by the water jets. The countless bubbles created by the jets hitting his body floated up and turned the surface of the pale blue water white with foam.
The sound of glass breaking on the floor broke this peaceful moment.
“What are you doing?”
The great God of the Sea scooped his little merman up in a panic, then found that he was still in one piece. When he realised that the foam had been created by the bubbles from the jacuzzi, he heaved a deep sigh of relief. He got into the jacuzzi himself and sat down with his little merman in his arms, holding him tight and refusing to let him go.
“Don’t worry so much. Why would I suddenly turn into foam for no reason?” Jiao Qi asked, confused. He stripped his husband and tossed his wet sleeping clothes outside the jacuzzi, then got Anne to notify their butler to clear up the broken glass.
“There’s no way I wouldn’t worry…” Lord Poseidon said, looking rather melancholy. Turning a merman into a human went completely against the laws of nature. One could call it “magic”, but it was in fact a curse. The little merman had changed his tail into legs for that man on the shore, and if he did not receive that man’s love, or if he thought that that man didn’t love him any more, he would turn into foam.
A maid came upstairs to take care of the broken glass, and Jiao Qi covered Big Cock Zhang’s mouth to prevent him from talking. He only let go when the maid left. “I know you love me. I won’t turn into foam,” Jiao Qi said comfortingly.
“But my mother turned into foam,” Zhang Chenfei suddenly said after a short pause. His eyes showed how deeply hurt he was by this thought.
Jiao Qi froze in the act of pinching Zhang Chenfei’s face.
The mother Zhang Chenfei just said had turned into foam was most probably Zhang Chenfei’s mother.
Mummy Zhang had passed away from myocarditis. At that time, she had had the flu for many days, and wasn’t getting any better, so Zhang Chenfei wanted to bring her to the hospital for a checkup. Mummy Zhang had felt that wasn’t necessary because it was just “a bit of a cold” and not anything serious. She also wanted to make dinner for her son after coming back from work, so she didn’t have time to waste on going to the hospital.
That day, Zhang Chenfei had gone to school as usual, and when he returned home, his mother had already breathed her last. Her last call on her handphone had been to Daddy Zhang, but he didn’t pick up his phone.
“Feifei ah, Daddy’s just had a breakthrough in his research, so if anything, look for your mum. What call are you talking about? Oh – I’m still in the research lab, so I didn’t pick up.”
“Then you won’t ever have to pick up her call again.”
Zhang Chenfei’s father was always immersed in his research and rarely came home. To Zhang Chenfei, he was just a figurehead, but he knew that his mother really loved his father. At that most critical juncture in her life, she had called the person she loved so dearly to save her, but he had ignored it.
Zhang Chenfei firmly believed that Zhang Zhishi had caused his mother’s death and had not been able to find it in him to forgive his father. From that moment on, he did not speak to his father for many years, and when he did finally say a few words to him, he did not address him as his father.
Mummy Zhang had not received enough love, and that was why she turned into foam. The God of the Sea wanted to protect the little merman, so he had to make his love for him known every day, because he was afraid that he’d disappear like his mother if he didn’t love him enough.
Jiao Qi felt his heart ache. He caressed his Laogong‘s face, then reached out to gather him into his arms. He kissed that silly fellow’s head. “You’re not the same as your dad. I won’t disappear. Don’t worry,” he said.
“Then let’s exchange tails in the water. That way, you’ll remember that regardless of whether we’re on land or in the water, I will always love you,” Lord Poseidon said, pulling his little merman into the water. He was intent on giving him a great load of his precious little swimmers.
“… …”
The next day, Jiao Qi woke up with a sore back and kicked the sleeping Big Cock Zhang with his foot. He shouldn’t have been soft-hearted in that moment and agreed! The edge of their jacuzzi was really hard on his skin.
Anne noticed that her master had woken up, and she immediately pushed the latest news to Jiao Qi.
Yesterday’s little fiasco had made the entertainment news. The headline was more or less what Jiao Qi had expected – it had really made mention of the “little swimmers”. The pictures accompanying the article had Ling Yao pulling on Zhang Chenfei’s sleeve and Zhang Chenfei hugging Jiao Qi. This was originally just a simple matter, but the photographs had been chosen precisely to create a scandal, and things were definitely going to get complicated from here on out.
Because of Zhang Chenfei’s follow-up with Jiao Qi, public opinion wasn’t against him, and the “Daddy Chenfei Support Association” were furiously posting supportive comments.
“Daddy Chenfei is such a good man! The moment some fellow tugs at his sleeve, he runs over to his wife to admit his faults.”
“Did you see that young master’s face? Hahaha, he obviously didn’t have a clue, he looked so confused.”
“How can that tanned, manly-looking Ling Yao have that kind of relationship with Daddy Chenfei? You guys who are leaning in that direction are just plain WEIRD”
The situation on Ling Yao’s side was much less favourable. Some people who were at the event leaked the fact that he had snatched something that Jiao Qi wanted, and had even made special efforts to bid for Zhang Chenfei’s cufflinks. This was already very ambiguous behaviour, and his agency was going up in flames. They had no choice but to arrange for Ling Yao to explain himself in a public interview.
“What did CEO Zhang mean when he said that you were trying to get his little swimmers?”
“What do “little swimmers” refer to?”
They’d thought the journalists would all be interested in asking about the relationship between Zhang Chenfei and Ling Yao, but it seemed that all they wanted to know was what the little swimmers were about. Zhang Chenfei was an important CEO, and no one could make him explain himself if he didn’t want to do so, but the media was burning with curiosity about this, so they asked their questions to the only soft target available – Ling Yao.
How would I know what “little swimmers” are?! Boohoo…
Ling Yao felt like this was all very unfair to him, but he had to maintain his manly man image, so he simply gave a calm smile. “It’s all a misunderstanding. CEO Zhang, umm… he collects fish, and he recently received a bottle of rare fish fry. I had wanted to exchange the cigars for those fish, but he didn’t agree,” he said.
“Then why did he have to go and hug CEO Jiao after that?”
“Well, they’re legally married to each other, so he’s at liberty to hug him whenever he wants. How should I know why CEO Zhang hugged him?” Ling Yao said, shrugging coolly. He’d failed to get his idol’s attention and had been fed a big mouthful of dog food on top of that! He already felt like shit, but these journalists still persisted in asking these questions… boohoo…
He got through the interview with great difficulty, and when he got back to the car, he had to endure another scolding from his agent.
“Boohoo, I only wanted to have a conversation with him,” Ling Yao said, looking like an upset puppy.
The agent wanted to dig his eyes out in disgust on seeing this manly man acting cute. “Wake up and smell the coffee, okay? Stop obsessing over him. You’re tanned, muscled and have an eight-pack! Have a look at Young Master Jiao – he’s delicate, slender, fair-skinned – you two are not in the same category at all. Do you think CEO Zhang would like you?!” he said, annoyed.
“Hey, I was also delicate, slender and fair-skinned in the past!” Ling Yao retorted. It was all thanks to his agent’s stupid idea that he had turned into this manly man!
“Then did he like you in the past?”
“… No.”
