Mr. Dior - Chap 72
Ch72 – I’m fine, just let me be insane
After blacking out for several seconds, the great CEO quickly calmed himself down. This was not the time to point fingers. What was most pressing was settling this installment payment. If he wanted to make his company successful again, he would definitely need to borrow from the banks, and his credit rating absolutely could not be allowed to go down.
Zhang Chenfei thought long and hard, but in the end, his gaze still shifted towards Young Master Jiao, who was sitting opposite him.
“What’s up?” Jiao Qi asked, seeing that Zhang Chenfei’s expression didn’t seem quite right.
“Yanyan, could you… lend me some money?” Zhang Chenfei asked. His ears couldn’t help reddening as he said the last four words. Now that he had to open his mouth to ask Jiao Qi for money, the pride and temper he’d shown Jiao Qi previously seemed like a real joke.
He wanted to borrow money? Jiao Qi sat up straight, then frowned at him. “What do you want to do?” he asked. They both managed their own finances and working capital because they were both owners of large businesses. Even though Zhang Chenfei did give Jiao Qi money every year, saying that that was his “maintenance”, that was only a symbolic thing. For his finances to decline to the point whereby he needed to borrow money – that was not a small matter at all.
“I need to pay the monthly installment on my plane,” Zhang Chenfei said, lowering his head in shame. He really was a loser to have bought a plane at this difficult juncture. However, a private jet that was still being paid by installments was difficult to sell or transfer away, so he still had to make the payment in the short term.
“Huh?” Jiao Qi raised his eyebrows. Why did Zhang Chenfei need to borrow that small amount of money? He relaxed, leaning back on his easy chair. “You’ve hit the limit on your credit card?”
“I’m bankrupt. Where would I find the money to buy a private jet?”
“… ok sure. How much do you need?”
“RMB 1213,700.80,” Zhang Chenfei said. He used his IntelliBrain to search for the statement, then read out the figure there.
“You also need me to lend you that last eighty cents?”
Zhang Chenfei’s fingers tightened around the long-stemmed glass in his hand, then made a small, almost inaudible sound. “Nn.”
Jiao Qi looked through the account that Zhang Chenfei was referring to. Their working capital accounts were all joint matrimonial assets, and he could access all of the bank accounts that belonged to his husband. After he logged into the bank from which Zhang Chenfei usually paid the monthly installments for his plane, he found that Zhang Chenfei still had more than RMB 10,000,000 in his current account.
Zhang Chenfei made a call to the private banker who serviced Zhang Chenfei at this bank, and the private banker informed him that he didn’t need to worry; the transfer for the installment had already been made.
“It’s been paid,” Jiao Qi said, hanging up the phone.
“Thank you,” Zhang Chenfei said, giving him a look of deep gratitude. “When I’ve made a financial comeback, I will definitely return this money to you.” He looked at his little wife who had helped him solve his problems so swiftly. This bad-tempered young master with strange fetishes wasn’t all that bad after all. His world-weary heart couldn’t help beating faster and faster as he gazed at Jiao Qi’s face.
No! Stop! He wouldn’t be taken in by Jiao Qi!
“There’s no need to pay it back,” Jiao Qi said. The money used to pay it was Zhang Chenfei’s own funds anyway. Having settled the problem, he stood up and left. There were just too many things to do today, and it was best to get back to his office as soon as possible so that he could get off work on time.
“I may not be able to pay up on the main amount now, but I can use other methods to return you the interest,” Zhang Chenfei said. He took a deep breath as he got into the car with Jiao Qi as if he had made a huge decision. “I’ll go with you to Bajiao.”
“Why would you go there with me?!” Jiao Qi asked, confused. He hadn’t started the car yet, and he folded his arms across his chest as he stared at Zhang Chenfei. He had a bad feeling that whatever was going to come out of Zhang Chenfei’s mouth next wouldn’t be pleasing to anyone.
“I can return the interest in your office,” the great CEO said, sidling over and giving him a meaningful look. “I’ll pay you in cash for the main amount, and for the interest, I’ll use my body to make repayment.” He had to be better to this young master. This afternoon, he would give him a wonderful experience.
“No need,” Jiao Qi said, calmly starting the engine and gesturing to Zhang Chenfei to get out of the car.
Zhang Chenfei refused to go. He sighed softly, then pulled Jiao Qi into an embrace. As he did so, he considered his next words carefully. “Don’t be angry with me. Your body has been modified by Zhang Zhishi. I know this better than anyone,” he said.
“What does this have to do with your dad?” Jiao Qi asked, pulling out the wayward hand that had reached into his clothes as he tried to struggle out of Zhang Chenfei’s arms.
“You don’t need to hide it from me. I know that he turned you into a hermaphrodite, and the extremely horny kind, at that… Anyway, you might be able to endure it for a day, but trying to endure it for two days will cause you unbearable agony. Enduring it for three days will drive you insane,” Zhang Chenfei said, hugging him tight and feeling his heart ache in his chest. He was set on helping Jiao Qi relieve this pain.
“… …” Jiao Qi pulled aside the errant hand that was trying to undo his belt yet again, then opened the car door and pushed Zhang Chenfei out. “I’m good. Just let me be insane, then,” he said coolly.
With that, he started the Maserati and sped away, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake.
Jiao Qi returned to Bajiao and held the meeting that had been postponed because of their last-minute beach vacation. The television series that they had imported from BBQ had been launched on their platform, and it was enjoying a good takeup rate, with many viewers opting to pay to view the whole series. Everything the Operations Department released about this series generally met with a good response.
“Bajiao actually brought in new series from BBQ – they’re suddenly all high class now!”
“The subtitles done by Bajiao are great! Even the slang words are properly translated, and I love that there are few explanations as well. Totally dope!”
“Of course. Our Young Master is a star graduate from an Ivy League college, after all.”
“Young Master is such a good catch! It’s such a waste that he’s married to that homo marriage scammer Zhang Chenfei.”
The last comment was in the middle of a bunch of other comments discussing the series and praising Bajiao, and it looked very out of place. Bajiao’s meetings had always had a serious atmosphere, and the Operations Director quickly shut off the projector display and moved on to the next issue. Nobody dared to discuss that comment, let alone laugh at it.
After the meeting, Jiao Qi looked through the comments again and asked Yu Yuan what this was all about.
“Didn’t you see the news? The one about CEO Wang and the gorgeous lady lawyer. I think they must have just made some wild guesses after reading the gossip…”
Jiao Qi frowned, then re-opened the news article he’d read at lunch and clicked on the headline that read “The School Flower of Q University and Zhang Chenfei’s secret past!” It was plainly obvious from the headline that this article was just bullshit, which was why Jiao Qi hadn’t read it in full.
Zhang Chenfei had once boasted to Jiao Qi that a pretty school flower had chased him relentlessly in his university days, and this girl was now a lawyer. Her name was Xiao Yi. She had a master’s degree from Q University in law, and she also had a good family background. Her father was a famous lawyer who ran his own law firm. He took on a high-profile case two years ago and won it, and that case shot him to fame.
The reason this all started was because of Zhang Chenfei’s nightclub buddy, CEO Wang. CEO Wang had pursued Ms. Xiao with great fanfare, and after being categorically rejected, rumours about Ms. Xiao had started to spread.
“Zhang Chenfei, one of the outstanding talents of Q University’s School of Computing and the current president of Shifei Tech, once pursued the school flower Xiao Yi. According to certain sources, Zhang Chenfei’s partner, Gao Shiqing, was also romantically interested in the school flower during their university days, and the two even came to blows because of this.”
A statement from an interview with Zhang Chenfei’s roommate, which had been conducted a few years ago, followed these two scandalous statements. The interview answer had completely been taken out of context.
“They were at odds once before, and they didn’t speak to each other for two weeks.”
The way the article was written insinuated that the reason they fell out then was because they were fighting over the same girl.
Wasn’t the reason why the two refused to speak to each other at the time because Zhang Chenfei had sold the award-winning game? This was obviously a load of claptrap.
Jiao Qi didn’t pay any more attention to this piece of news. He cast it to the very back of his mind and focused on finishing his work tasks instead.
In the evening, when Zhang Chenfei came to get him, he looked rather put out, and looked like he didn’t know what to say to Jiao Qi.
“Have you seen that piece of news?” he asked.
“Nn,” Jiao Qi acknowledged blithely. He was sitting in the front passenger seat with his eyes closed tiredly. Last week, when he’d been suddenly dragged off for a tropical island vacation, he’d accumulated a huge backlog at work, and he was quite exhausted after forcing himself to work at top speed the whole day today.
“Xiao Yi called me.”
Jiao Qi opened his eyes immediately. His voice was calm as he asked, “What did she say?”
“She said that actually, what she said to the journalist was that she has good taste, and she knows exactly what kind of man she wants. The example she’d given them was that she had taken the initiative to chase Zhang Chenfei in the past, but the media got it wrong,” Mr Dior said, pressing his lips together after saying this. He didn’t know what he felt like he had to explain himself to Jiao Qi. He turned to look at the latter. His face was cold and calm as usual, and he obviously had not taken this to heart at all.
So, he really didn’t care?
Jiao Qi gave him the side-eye. “You look rather disappointed. What, were you hoping that you’d reignite an old flame with her?” he asked.
“I’m already bankrupt. Why would she be interested in me?” Zhang Chenfei retorted. When he heard his little wife say this, he suddenly became energetic again. “You’re just making a mountain out of a molehill!”
“Huh?”
“Are you trying to use this as a reason to punish me by doing it seven times in one night?”
“Uh, no…”
“Alright! Even though I’m not an eighteen-year-old youth anymore, I will satisfy you to the fullest!”
“Scram!”
