Mr. Yuan is Always Unhappy - Chap 13
Edited by Yummers
If time machines were to exist, and someone were to travel back in time and tell the Zheng Qiuyang who was playing around in a flower field daily, that at the age of 30, he would be fighting for a man, he wouldn’t believe it no matter what.
Now, he was waiting in the underground parking lot, waiting to catch Le Ningyu.
He was like a young inexperienced boy who’d fallen in love for the first time, ready to eliminate any creatures blocking the way for his loved one.
Wang Chao squatted beside him with a cigar in his mouth carelessly, not looking like an idol at all.
Tomas was in a corner a few meters behind the two, his head was down, hands playing his phone with his back against the wall.
“Why did he come too?” Zheng Qiuyang asked in a whisper, “Le Ningyu never brings any bodyguard to sets. It’s just him and his assistant, you and I are enough to get this done.”
Wang Chao replied quietly, “I said I came to help you fight, he persistently said that he wanted to come and watch.”
“What’s there to watch?”
Wang Chao sucked the cigar roughly as he replied, “Who knows. He’s always staring at me like he’s staring at a thief.”
Zheng Qiuyang chuckled.
Wang Chao asked strangely, “Does your partner not do that?”
Zheng Qiuyang lowkey showed off to him, “Nope, he trusts me a lot.”
Wang Chao looked at him with his head tilted. “Was your past any better than mine? Trusting my ass, I think he’s just dumb.”
“……”
“That bastard’s fucking harsh. The last time your partner saw us, that was when a girl ran up to me without any hesitation and pestered me. I didn’t get a clear look at her face, but her boobs looked quite nice. I had been holding back for months so I couldn’t help but just touch it once. Then when I came home, he didn’t even say anything and immediately whipped me with a belt. Fucking—ugh, my ass still hurts from thinking about it.”
“……”
Wang Chao was still rambling on, “But then again, even though I’m super annoyed with him, if he doesn’t follow me like this, then I really wouldn’t be able to hold back. If touching once was okay, then the second and third time will definitely happen. I’ll get used to it and keep going down that road. He knows the type of person I am too, but him always beating me isn’t a good resolve either…fuck, it’s my fault for being blind too, I just had to end up being interested in him.”
“……”
Wang Chao continued, “Your partner seems to be really nice. I heard that he can cook too. How about I come over some time for a meal?”
Zheng Qiuyang was in disorder when he whipped his head back to look at Tomas, then back at Wang Chao again in disbelief. “You’re the bottom?!”
“……”
A while passed before he jumped up, speaking with displeasure, “I thought Fang Shiqing already told you! If I knew I would’ve pretended a little longer!”
“……”
Le Ningyu came down with his assistant behind him. While walking, he was scolding his assistant for trivial matters.
Before they even reached their car, Le Ningyu was kicked to the ground from behind. He had no time to process what just happened as he continued to receive a few more kicks. Then he struggled to stand back up to return the favor. He started throwing hands with Zheng Qiuyang who was wearing a mask.
Many years ago, Zheng Qiuyang was a delinquent student. His parents were frequently called in by the school due to him participating in group fights. He’d settled down in recent years, but always worked out, he liked to exercise outside. He was a lot more physically fit than Le Ningyu, who had been indulging for a long time, eating boxed lunches provided by crews year-round. In comparison to the martial arts that Le Ningyu had been taught for visual purposes, plus the plenty of fighting experiences he had, Zheng Qiuyang took control of the fight in mere minutes. Le Ningyu was kicked down to the ground once again.
The assistant was holding onto a bag. In the beginning, he was still a bit puzzled, then once he realized what had happened, he backed away quickly, even blocking off his face with the bag.
Wang Chao, who was also wearing a mask, called out, “Hey! Don’t back away! Come and help your boss, I still need a partner to spar with!”
The assistant immediately repeated, “No no no! Do as you wish sir, do as you wish!”
“……”
Tomas, who was observing on the side, seeing if it’d be necessary for him to step in, had black lines across his face too. He backed away silently to keep playing on his phone.
Since Le Ningyu and Yuan Rui were shooting the same drama, injuries on his face were definitely going to affect the process. Zheng Qiuyang chose to not hit Le Ningyu’s face and kept his kicks to the most painful areas of the waist and abdomen.
Only after a good round a beating did the parking lot guard hear the commotion. He yelled at the top of his voice, “What are you guys doing?! Hey!”
Zheng Qiuyang, Wang Chao, and Tomas all got in the car in a second and fled.
The guard ran over and he asked, “What happened? Should I call the police?”
Le Ningyu endured the pain as he stood up. He forced a smile out, “No need, that was…just a rehearsal.”
The guard recognized him, then left, muttering to himself.
Le Ningyu had been in the industry for rather long. Him getting ambushed would make him sound like the victim, but if that news really got out, he’d be a complete joke. He knew that himself very well. Although his ambushers had masks, the fact that they were waiting for him out in the open in a spot like this, even fearlessly showing their car license to him…it was obvious they weren’t afraid to be found out.
That was also a reason why Zheng Qiuyang called Wang Chao out to help him. If he asked anyone else, 8 out of 10 people would refuse upon hearing that their target was Le Ningyu. It’d be troublesome to clean up the aftermath too. But things were different when it came to Wang Chao. First, he was already a troublemaker to begin with. Second, he wasn’t afraid of Le Ningyu, not a single bit.
After just a few days, Yuan Rui commented at home, “Le Ningyu’s been bringing bodyguards to the set recently.”
Zheng Qiuyang replied as if he had nothing to do with it, “Ugliness tends to bring trouble.”
Yuan Rui agreed, “Right. He’s not handsome at all, and he has a terrible personality too.”
Zheng Qiuyang asked him, “Has filming been going well recently?”
“It’s been alright. I don’t have that many scenes, I’ll be done in about a week.”
Zheng Qiuyang was excited by the news. “How many days of break are you getting?”
“I don’t know yet. I asked my agent yesterday, she said my next show hasn’t confirmed a filming schedule yet.”
Zheng Qiuyang was anticipating his break. “I’ve been wanting to go on a trip with you for the longest time, but you’re never free. Even since we got together, you’ve gotten more and more popular, more and more busy……”
“Oh right!” Yuan Rui cut him off with a thrilled expression. “I’ve inflated! By a lot! My last show was only three hundred thousand before tax, guess how much it is now?”
Zheng Qiuyang went along with him. “Fifty?”
Yuan Rui grabbed his shoulders with both of his hands, shaking him as he exclaimed joyfully, “One million!!!!!”
Zheng Qiuyang was shocked too. “That much? Per episode?”
Yuan Rui nodded, his smile was blooming. “I calculated, even after taxes and the percentage taken by the company, I would still get over four hundred thousand.”
“……Holy! Who fucking said the economy was going down?”
Yuan Rui hugged him, nudging him everywhere. “This is great, now I can buy you an imported blow-up doll!”
“……”
Yuan Rui laughed on top of him. “Hahaha, I was just joking.”
Zheng Qiuyang pretended to be angry, but inside he was laughing along too.
Yuan Rui tapped his face as a smile hung on his face. “I wouldn’t buy it for you.”
Zheng Qiuyang couldn’t help to reciprocate the hug. He felt like he was going to die from this cuteness overload.
Yuan Rui stopped his laugh. He looked at him with bright shiny eyes and said, “Once I save up enough money, I’ll open a studio for you. That way you don’t need to worry about your brother anymore. You can design whatever you want. You have so much talent, they shouldn’t go to waste just like that.”
“……”
Zheng Qiuyang had learned how to design from a master overseas. He was full of spirit for this field after returning to his home country as he entered the Yun Chang Jewelry Company. He wanted to show off his ambition. Back then, his dad hadn’t resigned yet. He himself also worked hard for a few years. For designers, to see their ideas on paper turned into finished products of different gems was their proudest moment. He was not excluded from that category either. But when his brother took over, not a single design out of the thousands that he’d handed in passed the qualification. The number of designs returned to him increased over time, almost piling up a small mountain. Gradually, his passion for designing died out. He put no heart into his work and that was the start of his dawdling days.
It wasn’t that he never had the thought of leaving Yun Chang, it was his mom who wasn’t willing. She never had a huge name in society, and so no matter what, she wanted to compete in this.
Sometimes, in a quiet place, he’d also think to himself. He could dawdle around for now, but what about the future? Was he going to be like this for the rest of his life? He was completely lost. Despite that, he never told anyone. It was just a family conflict that wasn’t supposed to be publicized, everyone was aware of it anyway, so there was not much to say either.
He thought Yuan Rui was a little idiot who didn’t understand anything.
To his surprise, Yuan Rui knew and understood everything. He even wanted to do something for him.
Compared to him who went to fight for Yuan Rui, the other was so much more mature.
How could he have thought that Yuan Rui was the idiot? Clearly, he was the big idiot.
