Mr. Yuan is Always Unhappy - Chap 45
CH45 – CONTENTIOUS ILLNESS
Edited by Yummers
The two entangled with each other for over two hours and cuddled together once they had enough. They both expressed how much they missed each other in low voices, as they went on, they ended up kissing each other once again. They laid there all the way until nine in the evening. After they took a shower, they laid in bed together again to watch a replay of The Sparkling Friends.
“This was the episode where I accidentally vomited milk,” Yuan Rui informed. “I wasn’t in the best state that day, could you tell?”
Zheng Qiuyang smiled, “No, you’re the most hardworking one still, it looks just like you were injected with steroids.”
Yuan Rui smiled along, saying, “For the one million.”
The episode’s topic was “Real or False Agent”. There would be a real “agent” among the guests, but no one knew who it was, including the agent themselves. A locked suitcase was distributed to each group, contained inside was the real agent’s information. They would have to complete missions to receive hints on the suitcases’ passwords, the winner of each round would also receive the option of switching out a teammate. In order to win, the teams had to correctly guess who the “agent” was and make sure that the “agent” wasn’t on their team during the final mission.
The editing for the show was great, displaying a good amount of suspense. Every person was painted as a possible suspect. While everyone was being suspicious of each other, they also had to be concerned if they themselves were the “agent”.
Zheng Qiuyang was very curious, he kept asking, “Just who is it?”
Yuan Rui obviously knew who it was, but he kept his mouth sealed. “Not telling you, if I tell you then it wouldn’t be fun anymore.”
Zheng Qiuyang started making random guesses based on the editing. One moment he’d guess the acting king, one moment he’d guess the host, one moment he’d guess Yuan Rui.
Yuan Rui laughed at him, “Hahaha, I’m still not telling you.”
During the commercial break, Zheng Qiuyang said, “I’m kind of hungry, are you?”
“I’m not, let’s call room service for some late-night snacks. We can order anything they have, what do you want to eat?”
But Zheng Qiuyang didn’t take the normal route. “I want to eat your cooking.”
“……”
“It’s been half a month since I’ve had it, I miss it so much. My mom cooks so carelessly nowadays. She doesn’t care about the taste of the food at all, she only cares about if it’s cooked or not.”
Yuan Rui thought that he was pitiful. He gave him a hug as he said, “Once I go back home, I’ll cook whatever you want, whenever you want.”
Zheng Qiuyang smiled as he looked at him, the two went in for a kiss.
Zheng Qiuyang called for an order of fried rice, and it arrived very soon. Yuan Rui was lured by the smell and took two bites. Zheng Qiuyang finished the rest in a few mouthfuls, then went to rinse his mouth before coming back to watch the show.
The broadcast was now at the dwarf basketball game that happened before Yuan Rui’s milk vomit accident. All the guests were squatting down in their spherical costumes, exposing only their feet and head. From the intense movements of trying to steal the ball from each other, it was easy for one to fall over and roll around, not being able to get back on their feet for a good amount of time.
Zheng Qiuyang laughed from the scenes.
Yuan Rui laughed as well. “Haha, it was so hard while doing it. Now looking at it, it’s pretty cute.”
The Yuan Rui inside the TV had rolled around the floor for over half a minute and still couldn’t get up. He’d run out of energy as he laid there, gasping. The camera zoomed in on his face, shooting his lifeless expression of despair, the editor paired the shot with depressive fiddle music in the back. It was such a tragic scene.
Zheng Qiuyang was about to die from laughter.
Yuan Rui explained shyly, “I was already feeling very unwell then, I vomited the milk right after this.”
Zheng Qiuyang’s heart ached for him as well, he said, “Don’t push yourself so hard in the future.”
Yuan Rui smiled back. “It’s nothing, I’ve even scraped my balls before, a little vomiting won’t scare me.”
Once the game was over, as expected, Yuan Rui wasn’t in a good state. His face was a bit pale and he didn’t speak too much either, his screen time also decreased in comparison to before.
The Yuan Rui outside of the TV was getting a bit exhausted too. His eyelids kept flickering as he tried to keep them open as much as he could.
Zheng Qiuyang watched as he struggled, thinking that it was very cute. He couldn’t help but peck him on the cheek. “Go ahead and sleep if you’re tired. You still have to film tomorrow.”
Yuan Rui beamed at him. “I want to finish watching it with you.”
“You have so little screen time in the latter half, I don’t want to watch anymore either, I’ll also go to sleep.”
Yuan Rui rubbed his eyes. “Don’t you want to know who the agent is?”
“You can just tell me.”
Yuan Rui felt a little conflicted. “I should wait until you’re done watching.”
Zheng Qiuyang was very helpless. “I can watch the replay tomorrow when you go out to film, or else, I’d have nothing to do by myself.”
“Alright.”
Closing the TV, he fell fast asleep.
Zheng Qiuyang laid by his side, staring at Yuan Rui’s face intently, not feeling sleepy in the slightest.
The days where he stayed in their house back in Beijing and video called him every night before bed was nothing compared to this warmth that he could secure from being only a few inches away. He was able to touch him merely by reaching out his hands, he could hug him anytime he wanted.
Before, when he listened to songs that described “lovesickness” as such an obscure thing, he always thought those people just had a “contentious illness”. Now he knew, not only was it obscure, it was constant. No matter what he was doing, he’d think about Yuan Rui. He’d wonder if he was tired from filming, he’d wonder if he’s been eating properly, he’d wonder if he’s gotten thinner, he’d wonder if he missed him just as much as he did.
Maybe love was a type of contentious illness to begin with.
When two people met within a sea of people, how were they able to confirm the other being the one? Before one fell in love, they thought deep love to be contentious. But once in that position, everyone would be diagnosed with the contentious illness.
If they didn’t have it, then it just wasn’t the time yet. They hadn’t met the person who’d make them like that.
The next morning, Yuan Rui came back with two portions of breakfast from the ninth floor. He and Zheng Qiuyang shared the meal together before he went off to film.
Many people in the crew knew that he had a friend over, the clever ones already saw through it. To start with, the modeling community already had a bunch of gay people. Even those who weren’t gay may be persuaded into trying it. Many straight models married early and had kids due to the overwhelming harassment from people in the same field.
But everyone knew that Yuan Rui was the godson of the producer, so they didn’t trouble him. Aside from that, he’d been getting more recognition lately, there was barely anything bad about him circulating around, he was nice to everyone and didn’t talk behind people’s backs.
Yuan Rui originally had seven scenes to shoot that day. One of them was a night scene of the male and female lead sharing a dinner.
If he wanted to return soon to hang out with Zheng Qiuyang, he’d need to discuss with the director about cutting down the number of scenes he had to shoot today. But everything was already scheduled so he couldn’t bring himself to talk about it with the director just because of a personal issue.
When he wasn’t filming, he followed behind the director. But several times, he didn’t have the courage to step upfront.
Zhao Zhengyi said, “It’s the same background anyway. If we ask for a break, they can shoot other people’s scenes first. Come on, it’s fine, tell her before noon so that they have enough time to notify the other actors of the change.”
“But what reason do I give? Do I say that my boyfriend came to visit?”
Zhao Zhengyi gave him an idea. “Just say you’re feeling unwell.”
Yuan Rui was conflicted. “But I’m feeling quite well.”
Zhao Zhengyi didn’t know what to say. “……”
Yuan Rui really couldn’t get past himself to bring it up to the director. He thought about just not doing it. If he went back late, he could just go to bed later then take naps in the van whenever he wasn’t needed.
As he made the decision, the director called him over to inform him, “We’re going to move the candle dinner night shot of you and Xiao Song to tomorrow, Xiao Song’s not feeling well. It’s that time of the month for her, I hope you can understand.”
Yuan Rui exclaimed happily, “I understand! Awesome! Great timing!”
“……”
Yuan Rui quickly calmed himself down. “I meant, for it to come at the right timing shows that she is healthy.”
“……”
He told Zhao Zhengyi to buy a cup of brown sugar bird’s nest tea and went to send it to Song Huanyan.
Song Huanyan smiled from ear to ear as she said, “I’m not drinking this, I want to eat Häagen-Dazs ice cream.”
Yuan Rui replied seriously, “You can’t, you have to be mindful about staying warm!”
Song Huanyan gave him a sidelong glance. “Do you really think I’m on my period?”
Yuan Rui blinked, suddenly realizing. “Ah?”
Song Huanyan kept looking at him with a smile, a teased-filled look in her eyes.
