Mr. Yuan is Always Unhappy - Chap 46
CH46 – TREAT THE DOLL WELL
Edited by Yummers
After Yuan Rui left, Zheng Qiuyang went back to bed for some more sleep until noon. He called for a simple delivery as lunch and ate as he watched The Sparkling Friends on his tablet.
The first place of each mission was awarded hints about the “agent’s” identity. When they closed off the TV last night, two hints were already passed out to two different teams. One was the Arabic number 3, and the other was a palm-sized model of the Eiffel Tower.
He continued from there, in just a while, the winning team of the new mission received the last hint. Opening it, they found a picture of the singer, Li Ronghao.
The guests came up with all sorts of theories. Some said the Taiwanese girl was the third oldest in her family, so the “3” might be related to her. Some said the acting king went to walk on the red carpet in Cannes, France just a while ago, so the Eiffel Tower could be related to him. Some also said that Li Ronghao’s song, “Model” might be related to Yuan Rui. But it was quickly debunked as no one thought the production team would give them such an obvious hint. Very quickly, someone said that the host just released a single lately and Li Ronghao helped him write it.
However, Zheng Qiuyang already came down with a firm conclusion that the “agent” was Yuan Rui. It’s been three years since his debut, he studied abroad in France, and plus the song title “Model”.
In the show, Yuan Rui didn’t even realize that it was himself. On the contrary, he slapped his thigh like a light-bulb just lit up in his head and believed that it was the acting king. He’s won three notable awards before, has been to Cannes, and even gave Li Ronghao his award before. It must be him! No matter who came to ask him, he gave them all the same explanation with an unyielding manner and ten out of ten confidence.
Although all these guests worked together on this show, no one was close enough with each other to know how long each person had debuted for and where they’ve studied abroad before. From Yuan Rui’s unintentional “fanning the flames”, many people started to believe that the acting king really was the “agent”. Even the acting king himself, said suspiciously to the camera when he was alone, “Could it actually be me?”
During the final mission, the acting king’s team won. They got the last chance to switch out a member, without hesitation, they chased the acting king out and replaced him with Yuan Rui. The new trio fought their way to press the “confirm” button, determined that the “agent” was the acting king. Yuan Rui also thought they were going to win without a doubt as he linked hands with his two new teammates to form a circle to skip around happily.
Before they even finished the rotation, the production team revealed, “Today’s agent was—Yuan Rui!”
The trio that was just circling around was all dumbfounded.
After the acting king and his new teammates received a momentary shock, they all clapped and laughed out loud.
The third team on the sideline was also laughing so much that they couldn’t stand up straight.
Yuan Rui’s new teammate, the Taiwanese girl, who always got backstabbed by Yuan Rui unintentionally, dropped herself down on the ground. The camera zoomed in on her as she said devastatingly, “In a game that requires IQ, I chose to believe Yuan Rui…go away all of you, I need a moment to myself.”
The screen cut to Yuan Rui, Yuan Rui was tailing after the director, not able to accept reality. “Is it really me? How can it be me? Could you guys have gotten it wrong?”
No one answered him on the screen as they were all busy packing up and preparing to get off work. The guests who were persuaded by his false accusations walked away as well.
He stood there alone, facing the camera with a puzzled and guilty expression. After a while, he finally understood as he blurted out in sudden realization, “Ah! It really is me!”
Zheng Qiuyang was laughing on the sofa so much that he couldn’t even eat.
Once he had laughed enough, he surfed on Weibo to see a new hashtag called #WittyYuanMengmengDelfectingTale. They took screenshots and made video edits to describe how Yuan Rui deflected everything against him onto the acting king without knowing, and how the acting king was so boggled that he really believed the clues were about him.
The scene where Yuan Rui firmly exclaimed, “It’s him!” Plus his completely lost expression after the reveal were both made into GIFs, and has since then been added to the Best Memes of the Month list.
Zheng Qiuyang saved all of the GIFs on his phone then opened them one by one to loop them, laughing so hard that he couldn’t control himself.
He looked at the time, it wasn’t even two yet. He had nothing to do in the afternoon. Yuan Rui left the car key for him, saying that he could go out and play if he had nothing else to do. But Zheng Qiuyang came here for him in the first place, so he had no desire to go out. He remembered the filming address that Yuan Rui told him earlier and picked up the keys, wanting to take a look.
The filming crew didn’t want their sound quality to be brought down by the number of spectators they may have on the sidelines, so they drew a few dozen meters radius of warning line around themselves, along with people guarding them. It was still enough for the fans to see Yuan Rui and Song Huanyan filming their scene at the moment.
There were around twenty-something people on the side who all seemed like idol fans. Some were holding Song Huanyan’s poster while some had LED light boards with Yuan Rui’s name on it.
Most of them were all young girls with the exception of Song Huanyan’s two male fans, they also seemed young and had a Korean fashion style.
Zheng Qiuyang walked by the side, wearing the black Armani coat that Yuan Rui bought for him. He was very tall and didn’t shave so there was a light layer of stubble on his chin, it made him look very out of the picture beside the group of young fans.
A few girls who seemed to be students peeked at him, they whispered among themselves for a bit until one of the bolder girls walked towards him, asking, “Uncle, what are you doing here?”
Nowadays, a lot of young girls liked to address another person as “uncle” when they hit on them. Zheng Qiuyang was already used to it so he didn’t really mind. He saw that she was hugging a chibi male plush with rather long legs that resembled Yuan Rui so he replied with a smile, “I’m also Yuan Rui’s fan, I’m here to watch him.”
It was obvious the girls didn’t believe him, but since he was quite handsome, they wanted to keep the conversation going. Another girl said, “I go to school in Nanjing and came all the way here just to see him. Your accent doesn’t sound like you’re from Shanghai either.”
Zheng Qiuyang told her, “I’m from Beijing.”
The girl joked, “Did you also come all the way here just to see him?”
Zheng Qiuyang nodded. “Yeah, just like you guys, I came here just for him.”
The girls looked at each other then all laughed, all taking him as a weird dude who liked to spout flattery.
Zheng Qiuyang asked, “Is that doll based off of him?”
The girl said, “And you call yourself his fan? This is the official chibi plush merch sold by The Sparkling Friends, you don’t even know about this?”
Zheng Qiuyang seriously had no idea. He glanced at the doll a few more times, then asked, “Can I buy this online?”
The girl smiled, “Nope, it’s limited time, you can only get it if you’re fast.”
“Is it very expensive?”
The girl purposely said, “It is very expensive.”
Zheng Qiuyang kind of wanted it, he offered, “Can you sell it to me?”
The girl refused, “Nope, I’m a sincere fan.”
“……Then treat it well.”
