Mr. Yuan is Always Unhappy - Chap 61
CH61 – CLOSE THE CURTAINS
Edited by Yummers
At the restaurant, Yuan Rui had already tossed everything that happened at home behind his head as he rolled up the duck meat in joy.
Zheng Qiuyang ate a piece of duck skin with sugar. Although there was sweetness on his tongue, he felt a little sour in his heart.
While he thought that Yuan Rui’s soft personality was so cute that it’d kill him, he was also a bit unsatisfied. He saw his entire future filled with darkness at the mere thought of Yuan Rui possibly moving on to love someone else. If he were the one to cheat, Yuan Rui would only “move out”. Is that to satisfy Zheng Qiuyang and the side chick’s relationship? That sure was generous of Yuan Rui. Zheng Qiuyang could die from anger.
Tsk, what side chick? There won’t ever be a side chick anyway.
“Don’t just eat the duck skin,” Yuan Rui gave him a Peking duck wrap. “Here, I didn’t put any scallion in it.”
Zheng Qiuyang took it by hand and stuffed it in his mouth.
Yuan Rui continued to make another wrap. He smiled as he said, “My dad loves eating these. If he has time during New Year, we can invite him out to eat Peking duck together.”
“Sure,” Zheng Qiuyang agreed.
“How about we invite people over to our new house next weekend? That way both Fang Shiqing and Wang Qi could make time to come over.” Yuan Rui was getting a bit excited. “It’s been two months since I’ve last seen Wang Qi.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “…”
Zheng Qiuyang had a secret that he’s never told anyone. He really really really did not like Wang Qi. Despite Zheng Qiuyang’s good relationship with Fang Shiqing and Wang Chao, he’s barely ever interacted with Wang Qi. Even when they do see each other, he would pretend to not notice him.
Fang Shiqing and Wang Qi used to be such a dramatic couple. Not only were they both unknowingly in love with each other, but Fang Shiqing that idiotic switch had also pissed off Wang Qi by chasing after Yuan Rui after deciding that he was a pretty good potential partner. Wang Qi was very upset by this. However, since they lived in a lawfully ruled country, Wang Qi couldn’t just hire a hitman to take out Yuan Rui. But because Wang Qi was seriously afraid that Yuan Rui and Fang Shiqing might actually hook up, he started interfering in their relationship. To his surprise, Yuan Rui wasn’t interested in Fang Shiqing. Instead, Yuan Rui became interested in him and started pushing himself onto him. But of course, after Yuan Rui found out about Fang Shiqing and his mutual love with Wang Qi, he stopped chasing after him and became besties with Fang Shiqing.
However, still to this day, whenever Wang Qi is mentioned, Yuan Rui would have a drooling face. If Wang Qi was a bit more scheming, Yuan Rui might even run away with him if Wang Qi did a simple “come here” gesture with his finger towards him.
But in the end, Zheng Qiuyang didn’t really hold hatred towards Wang Qi specifically. He just doesn’t like any of Yuan Rui’s past crushes in general. But he didn’t know any other of Yuan Rui’s past crushes, Wang Qi was the only target in his mind. Sometimes, when he was jealous, he would imagine a crowd of Wang Qi’s gathered together. Then he would blast at them with a machine gun. Just imagining it would satisfy him for a good while.
With how generous and kind Yuan Rui was, it would be a miracle if someone small-eyed like Zheng Qiuyang had a peaceful mind.
On their way back after the meal, Yuan Rui sat in the passenger seat as he talked about his last meeting with Suo Yue in Shanghai. He said proudly, “My sister’s great. Not only does she maintain such good grades, but she’s also always winning the top prize scholarships. She’s also talented in many other fields: she’s their school’s student council vice president, she’s pretty, and she’s got a nice personality. She’s so perfect and she’s my sister!”
He blabbered on for a long while before he realized that Zheng Qiuyang hadn’t made a sound.
He asked, “What is it? Was moving too tiring today?”
Zheng Qiuyang was still drowning in sorrow after knowing that Yuan Rui wouldn’t kill him if he ever cheated on him. He glossed over the question, “Yeah, a little.”
It’s easy for a person to get easily annoyed when they’re exhausted. Yuan Rui suddenly felt like he was being too talkative just now, so he stopped talking and took out his phone to go on Weibo. Quickly, a surprised look appeared on his face. He wanted to say something but instantly swallowed it back down.
Zheng Qiuyang noticed Yuan Rui’s behavior. He spoke in jealousy, “Look at how giggly you are, did Bai Tu repost your post again?”
His jealousy didn’t come out of nowhere either. The last time Bai Tu reposted his post, Yuan Rui was so excited he started jumping on the bed. He wouldn’t sleep until it was the middle of the night, he seemed happier than winning a five million lottery.
However, Yuan Rui responded in excitement, “No! I hit ten million followers!”
Now Zheng Qiuyang was also happy for him. There was a slight smile on his face as he said, “Now you can finally post the ten million celebration post you’ve been preparing.”
Since he promised his fans to show a childhood picture of himself when he hit ten million, Yuan Rui already had the picture readied. He quickly started making a Weibo post. He typed and deleted his text multiple times before posting it.
Zheng Qiuyang was also curious to see what Yuan Rui was going to post. He only knew that Yuan Rui prepared a picture beforehand but he didn’t know what it looked like. Yuan Rui was all mysterious about it and wouldn’t let him see. During a red light, he took out his phone to look at the post. The Weibo post said “The promised ten million milestone post. Thank you guys! I will work even harder in the future!” Accompanied was a 100-day old picture of Yuan Rui. He had a huge smile in the picture and was a chubby baby. He had no clothes on and was hugging a big fish plush, resembling one of those New Year Kid pictures. Yuan Rui’s little baby chicken was covered by a yellow chicken sticker.
In just minutes, the post had received over three thousand reposts and two thousand comments. Zheng Qiuyang scanned the comment sections and the top comment said “Don’t censor it next time, we don’t mind that you’re small dog” with 400 likes. Looking at their icon and username, the person was definitely a girl.
Zheng Qiuyang laughed at that.
Yuan Rui blushed a bit as he smiled. He said a little proudly, “My fans are all very interesting, right?”
Once the light turned green, Zheng Qiuyang put away his phone to focus on driving. He asked, “Which album is that picture from? How come I’ve never seen it?”
“It’s not in our house, my dad has it. I took a picture the last time I visited him.”
Zheng Qiuyang joked with him, “You really don’t have to censor anything, I wouldn’t get jealous of those kids.”
Yuan Rui slapped his arm as he laughed. “That’s not the reason. I’ve just been getting a lot more anti-fans lately. They’d definitely drag me if I didn’t censor it. The last time I posted my swimming pictures in Hainan, people were saying that my past modeling pictures were photoshopped and that both my pecs and abs were fake. But I haven’t been working out lately, so of course, my muscles aren’t as defined as before. I even wanted to explain myself but my agent wouldn’t let me. She said it’d just make everything worse.”
Zheng Qiuyang agreed, “Ignore them, they just wanna see you fall. If you respond, it’ll only make them even more motivated to hate on you.”
Yuan Rui smiled, “It’s fine. I don’t do drugs, I’m not involved with prostitutes, I’m not interfering with anyone’s marriage, nor am I cheating. I haven’t done anything bad so I’m not afraid of their hate.”
However, the next morning, Yuan Rui was trending from massive amounts of hate.
When Li Lingling called him in a rush, his mind was still foggy from being woken up so suddenly.
Since it was Sunday, Zheng Qiuyang didn’t need to work. Plus, they had just finished moving the day before and decided to try out their new bed and bedsheets; they did so until it was past 1:00am. Yuan Rui didn’t want to wake up super early either so the two just cuddled in bed.
Li Lingling was basically yelling from the other end, “Why didn’t you guys close the curtains?! Don’t you know how many incidents occur because people don’t close their curtains? Why didn’t you remember?!”
Yuan Rui was still groggy. “I don’t keep my curtains open.” He slowly turned to look. Their new curtains were closed securely.
Zheng Qiuyang rubbed his chin against his shoulder, asking, “What’s up?”
When Li Lingling heard Zheng Qiuayng’s voice, she could tell that both of them were still in bed. It fueled her anger even more, she roared into the phone, “This is not the time for you two to be stuck in your own world! Look at today’s trending page and wake up! Zhao Zhengyi will be picking you up soon!”
She slammed the phone down. Yuan Rui quickly went to look at his phone. He was instantly wide awake, he said with wide-opened eyes, “How did this happen?!”
Zheng Qiuyang took his phone to see. He was taken back for a moment before he cursed out, “…Fuck.”
The top three trending topics were #YuanRuiExposedKissingManVideo, #YuanRuiHomo, and #2015AFCFinal
The first keyword search that popped up was also “Yuan Rui Homo”.
Zheng Qiuyang, “…”
Yuan Rui, “…”
Zheng Qiuyang said, “Check the video first.”
Before clicking on it, they were still holding onto the last bit of hope. Maybe people were just exaggerating since they’ve been very careful. Especially after Yuan Rui started becoming more popular, they’ve been much more cautious of their actions outside. Aside from their house, they didn’t engage in any intimate actions that would go beyond a platonic relationship. Even putting their arms around each other was considered extreme, and they always remembered to close the curtains at home.
But Li Lingling said they didn’t close the curtains?
The video was three minutes and twenty-seven seconds long. It showed the view of a window, a person in there had his back to the camera. The video’s audio had been edited as the person recording said, “Is that Yuan Rui? Both that height and that hair looks like him.”
In the video, another man walked to the window, standing shoulder to shoulder with the person who was suspected to be Yuan Rui. The person recording spoke again, “They’re talking now.”
After a while, the man put his arm around the other’s shoulder. Both of them looked at each other as the person recording continued commenting, “What are they doing? Woah, woah, woah! They just started kissing?!”
The person recording was obviously super stirred up by the scene and even zoomed in. Due to the kissing angle, both of their faces were captured by the camera perfectly.
The person recording was still blabbering on, “Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit! This dude knows his stuff…” The video stopped there, leaving the viewers with much more to imagine.
Zheng Qiuyang held onto his forehead, cursing, “This motherfucker!”
Yuan Rui looked at the video again. In sudden realization, he said, “I remember now. It’s not that we didn’t close the curtains that day, we didn’t even have the curtains set up that day.”
Zheng Qiuyang was silent.
Yuan Rui jumped off the bed. He pulled the curtains open a bit to peek outside. The building across from them was a residential building. The balconies were covered with clothes drying slowly since the weather hadn’t been that good lately.
He turned back around in confusion, putting on his clothes as he said, “Our neighbors seem like normal neighbors. Where did the paparazzi record the video from?”
Zheng Qiuyang looked through the comments on Weibo for a while. Aside from a few that said people should understand that celebrities have their private lives too, the majority was saying that it was disgusting. A new trending topic soon popped up, #KickYuanRuiOut. There were even a bunch of foul comments under Yuan Rui’s Weibo posts. The sight was a complete heaven and earth difference from last night’s comments where everyone called him cute.
Zheng Qiuyang felt guilty, he said quietly, “It’s all because of me.”
But Yuan Rui smiled as he said, “What are you saying? I’ve been wanting to come out for a while, but Lingling-Jie wouldn’t let me. Now that someone’s done it for me, I think this is pretty good.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “…”
Yuan Rui continued, “Plus if we’re really gonna blame someone, it’d be on me. I was the one who initiated it that day.”
Zheng Qiuyang looked at him in silence. This made him feel even worse than if someone directly insulted him. The expression on Zheng Qiuyang’s face was not pretty.
Yuan Rui kneeled on one knee, cupping Zheng Qiuyang’s face with his hands, he comforted sincerely, “Don’t make that face. I really don’t care about the hate comments. I’ve pictured this day happening since the day I entered this industry. Too bad I was born gay, if things really escalate, then I’ll just quit this job.”
Zheng Qiuyang was touched. “Yeah. If the worst really comes, you can just live off of me for the rest of your life.”
Yuan Rui waved his palm, saying, “No need, I’ve got money.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “…”
