Never Meeting Again In Our Next Life (Living Life Over) - Volume 1 (4)
Chapter 4 : Elder Brother
Two days have passed and Song Yan still hasn’t been able to contact Xia Lin.
When he called a few friends, they all said they didn’t know Xia Lin’s whereabouts.
Only then did Song Yan realise that Xia Lin was actually avoiding him.
This feeling made him very uncomfortable.
In the past, Xia Lin had always taken the initiative to coax him whenever there was a fight. But nowm, that his role had changed, he didn’t know where to look for Xia Lin for a while.
Song Yan plunged himself into the sofa, wondering whether he should ask the Song family or the Xia family for help.
In fact, he didn’t want to be associated with either of these two families. At the time he and Xia Lin announced they were together, he was banished from the two families at the same time.
For so many years, he and Xia Lin worked like ordinary office workers, each working for the owner of a small company and living a regular life from 9 to 5.
The two families didn’t oppress them to death, and they never set foot in their home again.
Now that he had fallen out with Xia Lin, what should he do if Xia Lin went back to the Xia family in a fit of anger. Should he have the courage to go to the door and coax Xia Lin back in person?
Song Yan was picturing that scene alone, and every cell in his body was resisting.
At this moment, his mobile phone rang, the caller ID was Xia Lin’s brother Xia Liang. Song Yan’s hand hesitated for a moment, he was really afraid of what would come.
But in the end, he sat up straight and picked up the call cautiously.
Xia Liang asked straightforwardly, “Song Yan, did you have any problems with Xiao Lin?”
Song Yan thought to himself, Xia Lin has really gone back to the Xia family. In the past, no matter how unpleasant the two had been, Xia Lin would never let the Xia family hear a word of it. Now, I’m afraid that Xia Lin was really sad.
He sighed and said in a low voice, “Brother Liang, I did have some misunderstanding with Xia Lin…I misjudged him before. I wanted to apologize to him, but his mobile phone was switched off all the time. Is he at your place now, can you let me talk to him for a few minutes?”
Xia Liang was silent for a moment, “Xia Lin is not here with me, I haven’t seen him.”
He paused and added, “Lawyer Zhang said that Xiao Lin went to him today and transferred all the 10% shares that his grandmother left him before she died to my name.”
Song Yan was taken aback. The 10% of Xia Group’s shares was Xia Lin’s last life-saving amulet in the Xia family. Now that he had given up all his shares to Xia Liang, it was tantamount to completely blocking his own way back. If he encountered any difficulties in the future, he would be isolated with no help.
But he couldn’t understand why his falling out with Xia Lin would cause Xia Lin to completely cut himself off from the Xia family. There seemed to be no logical relationship between the two.
He was still thinking hard when he heard Xia Liang continue, “I heard from lawyer Zhang that when he saw Xia Lin today, he found that he looked very pale. When he asked him why he transferred his shares, he refused to say. After completing the formalities, he left in a hurry. I couldn’t contact him, so that’s why I called to ask you, I want to know what really happened between you two.”
Song Yan hesitated for a moment, but still told the whole story.
After hearing this, Xia Liang suddenly asked, “Song Yan, tell the truth. If Yu Luotong was still single now, or had broken up with David completely, would you not have hesitated to run off and get back together with Yu Luotong?”
Song Yan did not answer, in fact, he did have such a thought before he saw David.
Xia Liang had already found the answer in his silence and questioned, “Xiao Lin has sacrificed so much for you, yet you always used him as a backup?”
Song Yan opened his mouth, but was unable to refute.
In the end, Xia Liang angrily cut off the phone.
Song Yan collapsed onto the sofa and raised his arms to cover his eyes.
He had previously thought that Xia Lin had deceived him, so he had justifiably driven him away. Even if he pursued Yu Luotong again, he would not feel that he had done anything wrong.
Now he realised that it was all a misunderstanding, not to mention David’s existence, and assuming that Yu Luotong was still single, would he still be able to give up Xia Lin and pursue Luotong with peace of mind?
Honestly, he doesn’t know.
Yu Luotong is an obsession he has never let go of over the years, but Xia Lin’s unwavering companionship has also painted a strong mark on his heart. If he were to put the two on an equal footing and was asked to choose between them, he really didn’t know which one to choose.
The good thing is that now that Yu Luotong has his own home, there is no need for him to be bothered by the dilemma of choosing between the two.
After clearing all of this, he opened Xia Lin’s WeChat interface, looked at his last lone unanswered message, sighed, and sent another one, “Xia Lin, I was wrong, come back.”
There was still no reply.
He thought that perhaps Xia Lin was still angry with him, and that in a few days, when his anger had subsided…
He tossed and turned on the sofa for a long time and dialed Xia Liang.
“What’s the matter?” Xia Liang asked in an unpleasant manner.
What, Song Yan stammered, “Brother Liang, if Xia Lin has taken the initiative to contact you, or if you find out Xia Lin’s whereabouts, please let me know.”
Xia Liang seemed to have some residual anger left in him, so he coldly snorted and hung up the phone again.
Song Yan knew that this was a commitment from Xia Liang, and he was slightly relieved.
