Ni Jiu (Intoxicated) - Chap 14
Lian Jue put Chen Ningxue’s luggage into the trunk. After Chen Ningxue said goodbye to her friends, she walked from the rear of the car to the co-pilot but she was stunned when she opened the door.
She and Kang Tong in the co-pilot looked at each other for a few seconds. Just when Kang Tong was hesitating whether to get out of the car and give up the position of the co-pilot, Chen Ningxue suddenly responded: “Are you Tong Tong? Oh, I almost forgot. Before, your dad sent me your photo. Why doesn’t you look like the photo at all?”
Kang Tong didn’t know that Lian Jue sent her a picture of himself or when did he sent it. He couldn’t answer for a long time. He held the pizza box at loss, looked at her timidly and whispered: “Aunt Xiaoxue.”
Lian Jue closed the trunk and came over and replied for Kang Tong, “He was now a little fatter than that time. He was a little malnourished before.”
Kang Tong nodded along with Lian Jue’s words: “I’ve gained weight.”
Chen Ningxue squeezed his cheeks which were a little fat and said, “It’s not fat. It’s just right.”
Lian Jue planned to send Chen Ningxue home first but Chen Ningxue was not happy: “Is that girl still at my house?”
Lian Jue glanced at her in the rearview mirror. Chen Ningxue frowned and fiddled with her phone in the back seatnalmost hanging the word “unhappy” on her forehead.
In fact, Chen Ningxue has a good temperament and personality since she was a child. She is not introverted and does not recognize her life dull and boring. She greets everyone with a smile. There is no one among relatives and elders who will not praise her for being generous and sensible.
But this momentum did not last long. Since Chen Chulian married a younger woman five years ago her rebellious period has begun to emerge. However, this rebellious came too late, resulting to not being proficient enough to operate the word willfully and forcibly annoyed herself across the Atlantic Ocean.
It can be said that she is the first person to grow others’ ambition and destroy her own prestige.
Lian Jue didn’t want to mix things up between them, so he said “um” and didn’t say much.
Chen Ningxue raised her eyes from her phone when she heard the sound and said sarcastically, “Isn’t the old man separated from her? It’s long enough.”
Kang Tong didn’t understand why the new little aunt was so hostile to that pretty aunt. He liked the aunt very much. She smiled softly and let him touch her puppy.
But when the adults were talking, he didn’t dare to interrupt, he only dared to turn his eyes and refute in his heart.
The car drove into the city, Lian Jue asked the driver waiting at the expressway to pick up Kang Tong, and drove Chen Ningxue to lunch.
“Let’s eat Chinese food. I’m already going to vomit from always eating Western food.” Chen Ningxue suggested.
It was past the meal time and there were very few people dining in the restaurant. Chen Ningxue had not heard people speak Mandarin for such a long time. She didn’t want to sit in the deserted box, so she and Lian Jue found a window seat in the lobby on the second floor.
“Brother, you actually raised a child.”
An incredible expression appeared on Chen Ningxue’s face: “I thought you were joking when you told me before.”
Lian Jue handed the menu to the waiter and glanced over at her: “When did I joke with you?”
Chen Ningxue vaguely read his dissatisfaction from his expression, and stopped asking questions wisely. She changed his the topic: “You didn’t tell Dad that I’m back, did you?”
“Not yet.” Lian Jue took a sip of lemonade, “You speak for yourself.”
Chen Ningxue pouted slightly and opened a pair of tableware: “Actually, I just didn’t want to go home, so I didn’t tell Dad. Hey, can I still stay at home? When I think of having three meals a day to face her, I’m afraid I can’t even eat.”
When Chen Ningxue said this, she suddenly raised her head and looked at Lian Jue: “Ah, brother, I remember that you still have a suite in the suburbs? Otherwise, I can just go to your place and live there.”
Lian Jue didn’t move, and said softly, “It’s not convenient for me.”
Chen Ningxue was just a mouth addict. After all, she had come back, so naturally she still had to live at home but seeing him say that, she suddenly couldn’t hold back her curiosity and followed his words: “Ah? Why is it inconvenient?”
“There are friends living there.”
After Lian Jue finished speaking, Chen Ningxue’s expression changed slightly, she sat up straight her eyes were slightly tentative: “Girlfriend?”
Lian Jue’s tone was calm and he denied it quickly: “No.”
Chen Ningxue’s face relaxed a little then she pulled her hair back casually and said with a slight smile, “Why don’t you have a girlfriend yet?”
Lian Jue added some water to the water glass in front of her and said casually, “I’m busy with work.”
Chen Ningxue squinted at him and couldn’t help teasing: “I think you are too busy to become a monk.”
Before Shen Tingwei woke up the sky was already dark.
Drugs for relieving anxiety disorders probably contain some sleeping ingredients. He slept very deeply without dreaming.
The house is too big, the ear is too quiet, Shen Ting has not opened his eyes, as the night is approaching, his vision is dim, only the small movement of the hand of the wall clock rhythmically ticks Shen Tingwei is in the quiet environment.
The palpitations before falling asleep had faded away replaced by the overwhelming loss that could not find the reason.
Shen Tingwei did not maintain the posture of being awake, leaning on the corner of the sofa motionless, with his eyes open, he was hysterical for a while.
A strong sense of loneliness pressed down on him with the pale white moonlight pouring in from the floor-to-ceiling windows and he suddenly realized that being awake was harder than being lustful.
It took him a while to realize he was hungry.
He sat up and fumbled to find the living room lamp.
The light above his head suddenly brightened like daytime and the pale light hurt his uncomfortable eyes. He stood there and closed his eyes for a while until the light penetrating his eyelids gradually softened before opening his eyes again.
The side-to-side refrigerator is full of fresh ingredients. He looked at the expensive price tag on the individual box hesitated for a while and only took out a bottle of frosted mineral water and a pack of quick-frozen dumplings.
After a simple dinner, he carefully cleaned the things he had used and put them back in their original places. He waited in the living room until midnight when no one came back he finally returned to the guest room on the first floor to sleep.
He thought he would be able to see Lian Jue again soon but him not coming to this place was not what he expected. This is obviously not Lian Jue’s daily place.
In the next few days, Shen Tingwei when couldn’t see anyone again he had to re-plan his next plan.
Lian Jue’s assistant came over on the morning of the fourth day, Shen Tingwei came out of the guest room when he heard a sound. The man seemed to be checking the missing food in the refrigerator.
The man closed the refrigerator, glanced at the spotless kitchen again and looked at Shen Tingwei suspiciously: “What have you eaten these days?”
Shen Ting did point to the freezer on the lower level of the refrigerator, and answered truthfully: “Dumplings and dumplings.”
The assistant was a little surprised: “You can’t cook?”
Shen Ting did not answer.
Cooking in someone else’s house was guilt-ridden and he didn’t have the habit of staying overnight in someone else’s house for a long time especially when he was alone in an empty house for so many days – even though the owner was away he still felt restrained.
Seeing that he didn’t speak for a long time, the assistant must have misunderstood something. He took out a business card from his pocket and put it on the kitchen counter: “Mr. Shen can call me in the future if you have anything to say. I’ll call the aunt to come over later.”
Shen Tingwei picked up the business card. There was only a name and a series of numbers lying on it. There was no job title and no company name.
He thought that Mr. Lin Chen was probably Lian Jue’s personal assistant. After all, several meetings were during working hours and Lian Jue did not take him with him.
At the end of the short conversation, Lin Chen said that he had other things to do and asked Shen Tingwei if he had any other needs before leaving.
Shen Tingwei think for a moment and said that he wanted to talk to Mr. Lian on the phone.
Lin Chen refused without any room: “Mr. Lian is currently abroad. It’s night over there. If there is anything Mr. Shen can tell me first.”
Shen Ting nodded vaguely, not obsessing with talking to Lian Jue, but looked at Lin Chen and said slowly, “May I leave?”
“If possible, can I ask you to help me get an ID card?” Shen Tingwei said.
Lin Chen couldn’t make a decision without Lian Jue, so he finally called Lian Jue.
The overseas project went smoothly unexpectedly. As the legal representative of the company, Lian Jue naturally needed to come over and sign the contract in person.
When he received a call from China, the celebration banquet was almost over. He was standing alone on the second floor of the living room smoking a cigarette. The glass door behind him cut off the hustle and bustle of the party.
His deep brows were half-hidden in the night and there was a bright orange fire between his fingers. When he connected to the phone, the screen of the mobile phone cast a cold white light on the side of his face.
Lian Jue Xu stared at the dim fishing fire on the distant sea level and asked, “What’s the matter?”
On the other end of the phone, Lin Chen unhurriedly conveyed Shen Tingwei’s request to him. He waited for a response for a long time and Lin Chen didn’t rush him. The phone was connected quietly.
After a long time, Lian Jue slowly exhaled a wisp of smoke from his mouth and was thrown back on his face by the salty sea breeze. His vision was temporarily obscured by the white fog. He extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray at hand.
“Do as he says.”
Hanging up the phone, Lian Jue leaned on the terrace to blow the wind for a while, then re-fastened the loose tie at the neckline and returned to the reception with the slender champagne glass at hand.
The deputy manager of the company’s legal department who accompanied Lian Jue to sign the contract was chatting with people on his behalf. When Yu Guang saw him coming over, he breathed a sigh of relief. After greeting people, he walked over quickly lowered his voice and said to him: “Mr. Lian, President Zhou of Ruikang Group came to look for you just now.”
Lian Jue swayed the goblet gently. The yellow and slightly translucent wine in the glass contained golden and broken light. His eyes swept aimlessly across the venue: “Where’s the person?”
“He was here just now…” The deputy manager of the legal department turned his head and looked around. Before he could find the person a long voice sounded behind him. The tone was familiar as if he had known Lian Jue for many years.
“Brother Lian!” The middle-aged man in a suit and leather shoes strode towards him with his female companion and before he came to him the champagne rose towards him first. “Hey, I have heard that President Lian is very young today. Once you see it, it really lives up to its reputation.”
The strong scent of perfume on the woman’s body made Lian Jue frown a little uncomfortably. He took a small step back and nodded indifferently but politely, “Mr. Zhou.”
The suit jacket can barely hide the man’s fat belly. He clinks his glasses of champagne with Lian Jue. When he smiles a deep gully appears at the end of his eyes: “Congratulations, Mr. Lian, for winning such a big order when you first arrived.”
“Thanks to you.”
Lian Jue took a sip of wine and handed the glass to the deputy manager of the legal department behind him.
They are all people who have been in the business field for many years. The man can see at a glance that he is not going to continue drinking. His smile did not diminished. He also handed the glass to the female partner beside him.
“You’re flattering me. Isn’t our company just listed? We’ll send everyone here to learn and gain insight when we have the chance. Who in the industry doesn’t know about your Fengjue Group, how dare we compare.” The man raised his hand in Lian Jue patted his shoulder twice and joked half-truly, “But so do you, Mr. Lian, it’s been too long for a single family to dominate in the industry and now that you’ve officially opened up the overseas market you occasionally have to give us, the small companies save a bite to eat.”
Lian Jue side shoulders calmly with a bit of unequivocal perfunctory in his tone: “You’re welcome.”
Seeing that he didn’t even want to say more, the man smiled embarrassingly and winked at the female companion beside him.
The female partner understood and raised her hand to stop the waiter who was passing by. She put down the champagne the man had drunk and took out two glasses of red wine from the tray.
The woman’s long dark curly hair was draped over her shoulders, her raised eyes were lightly lifted and a bright red fishtail dress outlined her sexy curves. She took a step forward and handed a goblet to Lian Jue: ” Today our President Zhou is not feeling well, why don’t I come to give you a toast for President Zhou, would Mr. Lian give me a face?”
The woman in front of Mr. Lian was indeed as good-looking as rumored, with a high nose bridge, deep eye sockets and thin lips pursed lightly. He looked at her with undisguised contempt in his eyes and the bright light fell on him. Dark eyebrows with innate nobility and arrogance.
It is indeed a submissive affection.
The woman didn’t care much about the contempt in his eyes. He didn’t move and she didn’t take her hand away. She didn’t seem to be aware of the embarrassment at all.
Lian Jue’s back is straight, the well-cut suit outlines solid shoulders, the ironed trousers drape quite well and the legs wrapped under the trousers are straight and slender.
She tilted her head slightly, her side jaw brought the curly hair hanging from the neck socket back to her shoulders and her gestures were all charming.
It’s good to be able to sleep with such an elite person. If you are really happy to serve others and have the opportunity to stay as a temporary lover, why not be better than the people around you.
After a moment of stalemate, Lian Jue raised his hand to pick up the wine glass that she handed over. Unexpectedly, shards of glass sprung up at his feet.
The feigned astonishment on the woman’s face and the fake anger on the man’s face are like a vulgar melodrama.
“Hey, you see how this happened.” The man scolded the woman beside him, “You too, clumsy, you can’t even toast a drink.”
“Sorry, Mr. Lian!” The woman looked at Lian Jue’s clothes at a loss, “I’ll wipe it for you…”
Lian Jue picked up a clean handkerchief from the tray of the waiting waiter, brushed the woman’s hand on his chest coldly through the handkerchief and carelessly wiped the red wine poured on his suit.
The man reprimanded the woman for a moment, looked up at Lian Jue with an ambiguous smile on his face: “How about letting her accompany you tonight? To apologize to you?”
Lian Jue unhurriedly took off his red wine-stained jacket , handed it to the legal manager behind him and said, “No need.”
“I still have something to do, so I’ll excuse you.” He paused, raised his eyelashes, swept over the two of them calmly and said in a low voice, “Just contact my assistant for the cleaning fee.”
“…” The astonishment on the woman’s face this time was much more real than before.
Lian Jue narrowed his eyes and turned to leave.
This most straightforward and despicable trick is more than a few grades worse than what Shen Tingwei did.
Lian Jue unbuttoned the cuffs of his shirt and rolled the sleeves around his wrists. The shirt was stained with a faint aroma of red wine which was stronger than the one he remembered.
So who is Shen Tingwei?
