Ni Jiu (Intoxicated) - Chap 6
When the aunt brought the breakfast to the table Kang Tong came down from upstairs sleepily. When he saw Lian Jue at the table his pace obviously quickened.
Hearing the sound Lian Jue lifted his eyes from the tablet and glanced at him: “Don’t run.”
Kang Tong obediently walked over slowly moved his chair away and sat down next to Lian Jue. He called Lian Jue uncle for more than two years before he started to change his honorific towards him which was a little uncomfortable. He blushed and greeted him in a low voice: “Dad, good morning.”
“Morning.” Lian Jue turned his gaze back to the Caijing Morning Post in front of him and took a sip of coffee from his cup.
He was wearing dark blue home clothes and his hair had not been carefully taken care of. The hair was softly draped in front of his forehead and he looked like he had just woke up.
Kang Tong followed his way holding up the cup and sipping the hot milk but his eyes were stuck to him and he didn’t move away: “Did you come back last night?”
“Um.”
Even when Jue didn’t move his eyes when he was speaking Kang Tong originally wanted to ask him if he saw his own paper but he is ashamed. When the aunt brought the sandwiches, he told him: “Mr. has already read your papers. Next time you write your name remember to write your last name.”
Kang Tong’s eyes lit up and he said yes.
After eating breakfast slowly Lian Jue picked up the napkin and pressed it on his lips. He looked at Kang Tong, “What time is it going to school?”
Kang Tong quickly swallowed the half-chewed bread in his mouth and said, “7:40.”
Lian Jue glanced at the time it was still early and then nodded: “I’ll see you off.”
Seeing that he was about to get up Kang Tong wiped his mouth hurriedly and then stood up. After Lian Jue stepped over his chair he pressed lightly on his shoulder: “Sit down and eat. I’ll change my clothes.”
When Lian Jue went upstairs, the aunt came over to clean up Lian Jue’s dinner plate and said with a smile, “The procedures have been completed and Tongtong is going to be registered. Mister, I am very happy.”
…
Kang Tong rarely sits in Lian Jue’s co-pilot like this.
He was still a little nervously twisting the belt of his schoolbag at first but after Lian Jue said a few words to him, the uncontrollable excitement in his heart soon showed on his face.
“Can I transfer to another elementary school after taking the new account?”
Lian Jue drove the car and didn’t answer. He just asked, “What’s wrong with the school now?”
Kang Tong hugged his schoolbag with his shoulders slumped and said a little awkwardly: “The classmates here seem to be reluctant to play with me. Last week, Lu Mingming celebrated his birthday. I wrote a greeting card to wish him a happy birthday. He was angry. He did not invite me to his birthday party…”
Speaking of this, I have a flat mouth: “I didn’t have to attend his birthday party, that is… the other classmates were invited and no one told me.”
Lian Jue raised his eyes glanced at the dejected child next to him in the rearview mirror and said quietly: “Next time your classmate celebrates his birthday let Auntie or Uncle Liu pick a gift for you.”
Kang Tong pursed his mouth and hummed dully.
Lian Jue parked his car at the gate of Kang Tong’s school: “I will pick you up after school in the afternoon.”
Kang Tong stopped taking off the seat belt looked at him blankly, and asked cautiously: “Aren’t you going to work today?”
“Yeah.” Lian Jue reached out to help him unfasten his seat belt, “We won’t eat dinner at home.”
Kang Tong nodded dully and rubbed the strap of his schoolbag unnaturally: “…Are we going to grandpa’s house?”
He heard from his aunt that he had to go to his grandfather’s house to recognize someone after completing the formalities. He hadn’t seen his grandfather yet so he was a little nervous.
Lian Jue didn’t deny it. He only frowned and corrected: “He can’t be called Grandpa.”
Kang Tong didn’t quite understand and looked at him with some confusion: “Didn’t I call you father?”
Lian Jue gave a hum and it seemed that he had no plans to explain: “Go to school.”
Kang Tong slowly picked up his schoolbag and opened the car door: “Goodbye, Dad.”
Lian Jue watched Kang Tong slowly walking towards the private school but was urged by the female teacher at the school gate to trot two steps forward.
As soon as he turned his gaze back, the phone vibrated he opened it and it was a message-
[Mr. Lian, Mr. Shen has already checked out.]
Lian Jue dialed the phone and said, “Follow him, see where he goes and see who he is.”
“Okay, company manager.”
“Li’an Road?” The taxi driver was stunned when he heard the address, and turned his head uncertainly, “I haven’t heard it. Is it the address in the city? I have to hand over the shift later and I don’t take long distances.”
Shen Tingwei’s head ached again. He held his swollen temples and asked in a dumbfounded voice, “Where is this?”
“Liuhe Road.”
“No…” Shen Ting panicked for no reason, “I mean, what city is this?”
The driver glanced at him inexplicably, “Yishi.”
Shen Ting pressed his hand on his forehead and suddenly raised his head: “…what?”
As the driver said, he glanced at the door of the hotel where Shen Ting did get on the bus and then he was taken aback, frowning almost invisibly: “Are you drinking too much? Tell you in advance, vomit There will be a car wash fee on the car.”
Shen Tingwei’s face turned pale. He turned a deaf ear to the driver’s reminder and quickly pushed the door to get out of the car.
He was faint in front of his eyes. His body was sour and uncomfortable. The alcohol that had been faint after the shower was steamed by the rising body temperature and it surged up again.
He couldn’t help but retching on the tree trunk by the side of the road.
1
Yishi.
Shen Tingwei still had a deep drunkenness in his head but he was sure that he had never heard of this city.
It had just rained and the temperature had dropped a little bit. The cool morning breeze carried the spring cold after the rain. The wind blew the corner of his clothes and a small waist was exposed outside.
‘In fact, I can’t vomit anything, but I still feel uncomfortable.’ The clothes dampened by cold sweat are stuck to the spine and the wind blows like a layer of ice. The cold almost seeps along the skin into the bones. Shen Ting did not grasp the open hem his finger bones were white and his hot palm pressed against his aching stomach.
He rubbed the back of his hand against his mouth and slowly straightened up but didn’t move.
Shen Ting stand on the spot staring at the pedestrians coming and going in the early morning wondering in a daze, where should he go next?
After Lian Jue sent Kang Tong to the school.
He was going to Chen Chulian in the evening, so the international video conference in the evening was temporarily changed to the morning.
During the meeting, Lian Jue looked at his mobile phone twice. While bowing his head to reply to the news he said to the overseas project manager who did not know whether to stop at the other end of the video and said: “Continue.”
The meeting lasted until noon. After everyone in the meeting hall left, Lian Jue closed his eyes and leaned against the back of his chair pinching his nose, resting for a while, picked up his mobile phone and made a call.
“How is that person?” He asked in a deep voice.
“Mr. Shen is still in a coma. The preliminary examination result was caused by fever. You reminded him that he had been drinking yesterday, so the doctor did not give him an injection to reduce the fever but only used oral medicine to reduce the fever and inflammation. Mr. Shen’s fever has not gone away. The doctor took a blood sample from him and sent it for a blood test. The test result will be available later.”
Lian Jue said, “What did you check?”
The other side was silent for a while, and his voice lowered: “I’m sorry, Mr. Lian, the identity information of Mr. Shen has not been found yet.”
Lian Jue didn’t say anything. As a result, as expected, the man was fully prepared to climb onto his bed. If it was so easy to detect, it would make him suspicious.
He leaned on the chair, tapped his fingers casually on the edge of the table, and said, “I see, let me know if you have news.”
“Okay.”
