Pathological Trapping - Chap 67
He didn’t say a word to Mu Jian.
”Guard Li, I’m letting you go now. Can you eat something first?”
On the table, there were light side dishes, steaming soup, and warm water waiting for Li Dezhuang to enjoy.
Li Dezhuang didn’t even look at him.
Keep walking outside.
He doesn’t want to stay here.
It’s depressing here.
It’s dull here.
If he stays here for another second, he will die!
The journey was smooth.
No one stopped me.
Only Mu Jian followed behind him.
He did not step forward, nor did he speak. His silence was heartbreaking, but it did not make Li Dezhuang feel sorry for him.
Li Dezhuang felt a little uneasy, thinking that if he let him go, he must be holding back some big trick. But he had already walked out of the yard, and nothing happened.
All he could hear were cries, pleas for mercy, scolding, and the sound of whips coming closer and closer.
When passing by a small courtyard, he glanced at it subconsciously.
Then he froze in place.
The people locked up in that yard were the residents of his former town.
From children in arms to white-haired old people, a crowd of people were being guarded in the yard.
Li Dezhuang’s eyes widened instantly.
He hurried forward, ignoring his current physical condition, which made him unable to sustain such an exciting move. He fell heavily to the ground after only two steps.
The noise attracted the attention of people in the yard.
Some people cried out his name and begged him to save them.
Mu Jian hurried forward and helped Li Dezhuang up, “Is Guard Li okay?”
Li Dezhuang grabbed Mu Jian’s collar tightly, his eyes bloodshot, like an angry little beast, fighting back before dying.
”Why did you catch them?!”
Mu Jian answered as a matter of course, “They made you unhappy.”
”When have they ever upset me?”
”It was their blessing that Guard Li told them stories in that town. But they betrayed you just for a few ounces of gold. You must be sad. It’s okay, I’ll vent your anger for you.”
”I’m not sad!”
Li Dezhuang’s voice was hoarse.
”Let them go!”
”That won’t work.” Mu Jian shook his head like a willful child. “If they hadn’t reported you, you would still be able to live freely outside. You wouldn’t be in the palace, refusing to eat or drink and throwing a tantrum, and end up like this now.”
Mu Jian touched Li Dezhuang’s face with heartache.
His touch made Li Dezhuang feel fear from the bottom of his heart.
I was so scared that my body was shaking.
“I feel so bad.”
Li Dezhuang knew that he couldn’t reason with a madman. He took a deep breath and said, “Let them go. It’s none of their business.”
”no.”
Mu Jian was determined.
The guard in the yard walked up to Mu Jian.
”Your Highness, we have accounted for all of them. There are fifty-seven of them in total. Your Highness, what should we do next?”
Li Dezhuang’s eyes widened in horror.
He knew this madman’s methods!
Li Dezhuang suddenly realized something, his eyes turned red, he grabbed Mu Jian’s clothes and begged for mercy in a low voice.
”I eat, I eat, you let them go and I eat.”
Mu Jian’s voice was very soft. It was a gentle and innocent voice, but it sounded like winter.
”Really? That’s great. Go and bring Guard Li’s food.”
”yes.”
The guards went there immediately.
Soon the food on the table was served.
Li Dezhuang didn’t even bother to use chopsticks. He picked up the bowl and started to eat rice with his hands.
Mu Jian quickly stopped him, “Be careful not to choke. Drink the soup first to warm your stomach.”
Li Dezhuang downed the whole bowl of still hot soup in one gulp.
Mu Jian considerately put the chopsticks in his hand and picked up food for him from time to time, asking him to eat slowly and not choke. But Li Dezhuang was eager to save people. He ate as if he was trying to escape.
It only took five minutes to finish.
”Can you let them go now? They have nothing to do with us, Your Highness, please be kind…”
”Will Guard Li hurt himself again in the future?”
Li Dezhuang shook his head again and again, “No, no.”
Mu Jian used his hand to wipe the rice grains from the corner of Li Dezhuang’s mouth.
”Guard Li is always so kind, but he is the cruelest to me.”
Li Dezhuang’s eyes were red and he said nothing.
Mu Jian touched his cheek and said, “Since Guard Li has agreed to my request, then whatever you say is fine. I’ll put one up for you to pick. Anyone is fine.”
Li Dezhuang’s expression was blank for a moment.
Put one?
His lips moved, “Your Highness…”
Mu Jian looked at her with longing, “Bullying you is unforgivable.”
Li Dezhuang’s voice cracked with anxiety, “They didn’t bully me! They are all poor people who have never seen so much money in their entire lives, or even several lifetimes!” Selling his whereabouts for gold is really too normal! What’s more…
”There’s only one person who betrayed me! What does that have to do with those kids?!”
”I don’t like them. I’m not happy that you treat them so well.” Mu Jian smoothed Li Dezhuang’s hair, his eyes filled with reluctance and uneasiness. “Guard Li, don’t worry about them. If you want to leave, just leave. How can I bear to see you suffer like this?”
Li Dezhuang’s long eyelashes trembled.
Looking at the women, children, and the elderly who were detained in the hospital.
How could he leave!
Now that he is gone, he will live in the shadow for the rest of his life!
Li Dezhuang turned pale and covered his face with his hands in panic.
Tears flowed down the gaps between fingers.
”Your Highness, what do you want in exchange for letting them go?”
Mu Jian stared at Li Dezhuang, watching him cry, and finally he was too soft-hearted to let him go. With a sigh, he slowly embraced him in his arms.
