Special Effects Pheromone - Chap 19
Qu Jing and Gao Bohua almost simultaneously stood up to pull out chairs for Yu Zhao. As the two chairs were pulled out simultaneously, the expressions on the faces of the four people present subtly changed.
Yu Zhao found himself in an unprecedented situation. Xia Tao, however, seemed accustomed to it. He smiled lightly and said, “The two ALPHA bosses are indeed so chivalrous, even pulling out chairs for us OMEGAs.”
Xia Tao’s timely remark allowed Yu Zhao to nod faintly, and he said to Xia Tao, “Go ahead, have a seat.”
Yu Zhao and Xia Tao both took their seats.
Yu Zhao, being adept at assessing priorities, chose to sit in the chair Qu Jing had pulled out. Xia Tao sat in the chair Gao Bohua had prepared. Xia Tao then gracefully smiled at Gao Bohua, saying, “Thank you, Mr. Gao.”
Gao Bohua nodded, explaining as if to say, “Why thank me? As long as it’s an Omega, I’ll pull out the chair.”
It was unclear whether Gao Bohua’s comment was meant for Xia Tao or Qu Jing.
Xia Tao then poured tea for everyone.
Gao Bohua chuckled and said, “Thanks to Mr. Zhao here, I have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Qu!”
Qu Jing quickly replied, “Mr. Gao, you are too polite! It’s my honor to know you!”
Gao Bohua laughed heartily, “Mutual feelings!”
The conversation was amicable, and they chatted for a while. Xia Tao, though an assistant, occasionally joined in the conversation, contributing to the lively atmosphere. Despite Yu Zhao’s few words, they were always well-thought-out. Gao Bohua praised, “Mr. Zhao, you’re a great friend, introducing me to such a good friend as Mr. Qu. In the future, we’ll all be good friends!”
However, Xia Tao jokingly remarked, “Mr. Gao, you used ‘good friends’ three times in one sentence, but we have four people here…”
This remark was somewhat ambiguous. Striking the right balance between politeness and informality in tone was crucial. Xia Tao managed to do it perfectly, making a light-hearted joke.
Gao Bohua, with a smile, responded, “Of course, you are my friend too.”
Xia Tao continued, “I wouldn’t dare. Let me serve you some tea!” Saying this, Xia Tao offered a cup of tea to Gao Bohua. After taking a sip, Gao Bohua nodded, saying, “Mr. Zhao, your assistant seems quite clever!”
“He’s not my assistant,” Yu Zhao clarified. “He’s an intern here to learn today. President Hai has high expectations for him, repeatedly urging me to cultivate him properly. It seems President Hai intends for Xia Tao to learn more before entrusting him with important tasks in the future.”
Gao Bohua, catching the nuance, understood that Xia Tao, as a young and inexperienced intern, shouldn’t have garnered such attention from President Hai unless there was something more to it. Considering Xia Tao’s charming demeanor, his Omega status, and President Hai’s style, Gao Bohua quickly caught on. Smiling, he teased Xia Tao, “So, you’re friends with President Hai? You’re ahead of me; how can I be friends with you?” He chuckled at his own words.
Xia Tao, perceptive of the underlying meaning, felt a bit embarrassed. Still, he maintained a smiling face and replied, “Oh, I’m just a small intern.”
After finishing lunch, the four prepared to leave.
Qu Jing suggested, “Mr. Zhao, are you going back to the office? Shall I drive you?.”
Yu Zhao smiled and replied, “Thank you, but it’s unnecessary. I came here by car.”
Gao Bohua watched and, playing with the crystal cufflinks on his sleeve, smiled, “Since Mr. Qu suggested it, Mr. Zhao, there’s no need to refuse. It adds a touch of class to have Mr. Qu as the driver. I envy that!”
Yu Zhao, however, said, “How can I afford Mr. Qu as my driver?”
“Mr. Zhao,” Qu Jing wrapped his arm around Yu Zhao’s shoulder and said, “do we still need to talk about these things between us?”
Although Yu Zhao and Qu Jing had been intimate several times before, it was the first time they had openly linked arms like this in front of others. Yu Zhao felt his ears warming and wanted to pull away but was held even tighter by Qu Jing. In the end, an Omega couldn’t resist an Alpha, so Yu Zhao could only accept being embraced by Qu Jing.
Looking up at Qu Jing, Yu Zhao said, “Shall I take your car back? What about my car?”
Xia Tao suggested, “If Mr. Zhao doesn’t mind, I can drive your car and take Mr. Gao.”
Gao Bohua nodded and said, “That works!”
Hearing Gao Bohua’s agreement, Xia Tao felt secretly delighted. Hearing the unanimous opinion of Qu Jing and Gao Bohua, Yu Zhao had no choice but to accept. He got into Qu Jing’s car.
Xia Tao also invited Gao Bohua into the car, opened the door for him, expecting him to take the front passenger seat. Unexpectedly, Gao Bohua opened the back door and sat in the backseat by himself.
Feeling somewhat awkward, Xia Tao maintained a smile, seated himself in the driver’s seat, and asked Gao Bohua where they were headed.
Gao Bohua said, “To the Elderly Society.”
As a professional “third generation second,” Xia Tao naturally knew about the Elderly Society, an expensive senior care center where only wealthy individuals could afford to reside. Some of their colleagues specialized in becoming caretakers there, trying to get close to older men with wealth who were in poor health.
Is there anything better than marrying a wealthy man and losing him shortly afterward?
Xia Tao asked, “Mr. Gao, are you going to visit an elderly relative?”
Gao Bohua picked up his phone and began scrolling without acknowledging Xia Tao’s question.
Observing Gao Bohua in the rearview mirror, Xia Tao refrained from disturbing him. Despite attempting to engage in conversation a few times when Gao Bohua wasn’t focused on his phone, Gao Bohua didn’t respond. Apart from necessary questions like “Is it a left turn here?” Gao Bohua didn’t say a single extra word to Xia Tao.
Xia Tao knew that Gao Bohua thoroughly looked down on him. Although he had attached himself to Yu Hai, he knew it wouldn’t last. Yu Hai’s OMEGA had a large family and business, and Xia Tao, a small figure, couldn’t take advantage of the situation. He could only treat Yu Hai as a temporary meal ticket and an entry ticket to high society. Nothing more. Gao Bohua seemed like a good option, just now they were chatting and joking, and he was one step away from getting his contact information. Unexpectedly, Yu Zhao’s words ruined everything.
Thinking about this, Xia Tao couldn’t help but feel resentful towards Yu Zhao.
Despite his inner resentment, Xia Tao remained professional. He smiled and provided excellent service, escorting Gao Bohua to the Elderly Society. After dropping him off, Xia Tao drove back to the parking lot at the Yu Group.
As he entered the parking lot and drove deeper, he saw a car parked. The car had an eye-catching and attractive design. Xia Tao unconsciously took another look and recognized it as Qu Jing’s car.
The car was making unusual sounds.
Xia Tao squinted, trying to get a closer look. He couldn’t see clearly, but he noticed that Qu Jing’s car windows were tightly closed, and the car was shaking. Could it be…
The more Xia Tao thought about it, the angrier he became. Damn, this Yu Zhao! He usually acts so upright! And now he’s doing this in the parking lot?
