Special Effects Pheromone - Chap 26
Qu Jing held the yellow roses, and the bright yellow color of the roses flashed in front of Yu Zhao, making him feel annoyed and upset.
Of course, Yu Zhao couldn’t actually pick up scissors and castrate Qu Jing.
“What’s wrong?” Qu Jing saw that Yu Zhao looked unhappy and asked, “Who upset you?”
Yu Zhao slightly opened his mouth; he didn’t expect his emotions to be so evident.
“Nothing,” he denied nervously and asked, “Why are you here?”
“Looking for my fiancé.” Qu Jing said matter-of-factly, “Also, check on the post.” The second sentence was a joke.
This joke, however, made an impression on Yu Zhao.
He only said, “Do you suspect me?”
“No.” Qu Jing, seeing Yu Zhao like this, hurriedly said, “Just kidding.”
“Not funny.” Yu Zhao opened the car door and got in.
Qu Jing also took the passenger seat, smiling, “If it’s not funny, then forget it. How about I tell you another joke?”
Yu Zhao remained silent.
Qu Jing continued, “What should you do when you catch a mosquito in the summer?”
Yu Zhao frowned, “What should you do?”
Qu Jing smiled and said, “1. Of course, you should raise it. 2. Send it to school. 3. Buy it a house. 4. Help it find a spouse. 5. Let it take care of children. What else can you do? After all, it carries your blood!”
After saying that, Qu Jing burst into laughter.
Yu Zhao, however, felt increasingly uneasy: he even felt that, for Yu Hai, he was just a mosquito.
Seeing Yu Zhao’s expression darkening, Qu Jing, feeling embarrassed, held the roses and stared at Yu Zhao with a hint of aggrievement.
Glancing at Qu Jing’s current state, You Zhao suddenly realized: this is a client!
Thinking this way, Yu Zhao quickly forced a smile, “Hahaha.”
Seeing Yu Zhao suddenly burst into laughter, Qu Jing was surprised, “What’s wrong?”
Yu Zhao replied, “Mr. Qu—Ah, no—” Remembering Qu Jing’s teaching, he changed his wording, “My husband just told a very funny joke.”
Qu Jing, hearing this, laughed as if he had been stroked in the right direction: “Hahaha!” His tail practically wagged with excitement.
“Hahaha!” Yu Zhao mechanically accompanied the laughter, soulless.
After laughing for a while, Yu Zhao stopped and asked, “By the way, what does my husband want from me?”
“Go out for a meal,” Qu Jing said, “Do you have time?”
Yu Zhao thought for a moment and said, “I do. But why didn’t you make an appointment in advance? If I’m not available, wouldn’t it be awkward?”
“But making an appointment in advance wouldn’t be surprising, right?” Qu Jing pointed to the bouquet of roses, saying, “Look, isn’t this surprising and unexpected?”
Yu Zhao felt annoyed at the sight of the yellow roses but had to answer, “Very surprising, very unexpected.”
Qu Jing then asked him to drive to a nearby restaurant. While driving, Yu Zhao said, “What if I’m not available?”
“Isn’t that easy?” Qu Jing said, “I’ll just go eat alone.”
Yu Zhao was surprised, “Isn’t that inappropriate?”
“Why not?” Qu Jing thought it didn’t matter, “I can’t delay your work, right?”
Yu Zhao pursed his lips, feeling somewhat surprised. In his understanding, any ALPHA would consider OMEGA’s work unworthy of mention.
Soon, the two arrived at the reserved restaurant for a candlelight dinner. Qu Jing asked Yu Zhao again, “When I saw you earlier, your face didn’t look good. Is something bothering you at work?”
Yu Zhao shook his head and said, “No.”
Qu Jing smiled and said, “I know you can handle it.”
Suddenly putting down his knife and fork, Yu Zhao looked at Qu Jing and couldn’t help but ask, “How do you view my career?”
Qu Jing replied, “I support you in doing what you want to do—however, when you said you wanted to be a full-time househusband, were you serious? If you genuinely want that, I support it too.” Qu Jing recalled Yu Zhao’s straightforward suggestion about becoming a full-time househusband. Qu Jing immediately refuted it, but after thinking about it, he felt that maybe he had prejudiced Yu Zhao, and perhaps Yu Zhao really wanted to be a full-time househusband. If so, then it wouldn’t be fair to criticize the idea.
Qu Jing’s perspective was that if Yu Zhao wanted to continue as a CEO, that was fine; if he wanted to be a house husband, that was also okay.
Yu Zhao was taken aback and smiled wryly, “Actually, I don’t even know what I want to do.”
Qu Jing asked, “Then why do you go on blind dates?”
“I—” Yu Zhao didn’t know what to say. He felt that the truth might not be the best choice, but Qu Jing seemed serious today, and he didn’t want to brush him off with platitudes. That would be disrespectful.
Yu Zhao looked at the flickering candlelight on the dining table and said, “I want to leave the Yu family.”
“Oh,” Qu Jing thought of Yu Zhao’s background and understood.
Yu Zhao had analytically assessed that he had no future in the Yu family, especially not in the Yu Corporation. However, he couldn’t break free from the Yu family’s constraints on his own. So, like any vulnerable OMEGA, he had to rely on marriage. As for why he agreed to be a full-time house husband, it wasn’t because he willingly wanted to do housework. Rather, he intended to be the kind of “full-time husband” engaged in “socializing.” Wealthy people like Qu Jing didn’t need a partner to cook and clean at home. After marriage, at the very least, Yu Zhao could engage in charity work, organize art exhibitions, connect with other wealthy house wives and husbands, and help maintain and expand family connections. Although he would be a subordinate in this way, it wasn’t much different from working for the Yu Corporation.
It was just that instead of working for a boss who was a wealthy father, he would now be working for a wealthy husband.
The difference was that the wealthy father already had legitimate heirs, while the wealthy husband only had him as the legal spouse.
So, Yu Zhao would definitely choose the latter.
This was a decision made after weighing the interests.
He looked at the yellow roses on the table, and the rational balance tilted slightly.
Qu Jing, however, spoke again, “Isn’t it work-related? Did no one really upset you? Do you not like yellow roses?”
Yu Zhao froze, “What?”
It turned out that Qu Jing was still pondering over why Yu Zhao had a gloomy face in the parking lot.
“Do you not like yellow roses?” Qu Jing asked.
Yu Zhao’s mouth felt dry, “Huh? Can you tell me why you chose yellow roses?”
“I arrived late, and the flower shop only had yellow roses and red roses left. I thought red roses were too commonplace—I assumed you would prefer yellow roses.” Qu Jing answered, sounding somewhat regretful, “But it seems not… you don’t like yellow, right?”
Yu Zhao’s heart suddenly cleared a bit, and he chuckled self-deprecatingly, “Oh… I see.”
“What?” Qu Jing was puzzled, “Do you like yellow?”
Yu Zhao quickly said, “I do… I have no objections to yellow.” Saying this, he touched his nose, his heart beating a bit faster. He added, “But in the future, please don’t give me yellow roses when there’s no special occasion.”
“Okay.” Qu Jing nodded.
However, when Qu Jing went back, he was thinking: he likes yellow? But doesn’t like yellow roses?
Two weeks later, on a holiday, Yu Zhao walked out of his house and saw Qu Jing holding a bunch of golden chrysanthemums at the garden gate.
