Hua Yao didn’t know how to console Yu Zhao.
After all, finding a partner for Yu Zhao wasn’t easy at all.
Matching pheromones was already a one in a million chance. Adding the asset match was like one in a million within a million. That “one” was hard to find.
It seemed that when Yu Zhao agreed to the blind date, the family became quite interested. At breakfast the next day, questions arose.
In reality, Yu Zhao’s family was not large—there was only the ALPHA father, Yu Hai, younger brother Yu Yong, and Yu Yong’s OMEGA father, Duan Keyi.
Duan Keyi asked with a smile as he prepared an avocado slice on whole wheat bread, “How was dinner with the President of Jingmen yesterday?”
Yu Zhao replied, “Just a casual meal, nothing special.”
After hearing Yu Zhao’s tone, both Duan Keyi and Yu Yong understood that things likely didn’t work out. They felt relieved. Yu Yong, who was generally unable to contain his emotions, couldn’t hide his glee, saying, “Big brother, it’s not easy to find someone. If you miss this opportunity, you might end up with hormonal imbalance due to loneliness.”
Yu Hai raised an eyebrow and said sternly, “What?”
Yu Yong, reprimanded by his father, paused and said, “I’m just concerned for my brother.”
“ALPHA should speak like an ALPHA,” Yu Hai instructed, “Don’t act like a gossip.”
Yu Yong fell silent.
Duan Keyi added, “Yong, you’re the same way. Speaking like that, not only does it upset your dad and your brother, but I don’t like it either. Why would it be hard to find a partner? There are billions of people out there. Even if you find someone today, it doesn’t mean you have to commit to them. Look at you, you’re considering several wealthy OMEGA candidates at the same time. A lifelong commitment is not a child’s play; it should be taken slowly, and you shouldn’t rush into it.”
Although the words seemed to defend Yu Zhao, they were, in fact, pricking his sore spot. It was evident that Yu Yong was luckier than Yu Zhao. His pheromones were easily matched, and with their good family background, it was easier to find a rich partner. He was even currently selecting from several rich OMEGA scions.
Yu Zhao, hearing the father and son’s conversation, lost his appetite and quickly finished breakfast before leaving for work with his briefcase.
When Yu Zhao was driving to work, he messaged Hua Yao: “Check Qu Jing for me.”
“Check him?” Hua Yao asked, puzzled. “Check what?”
“I want to pursue him,” Yu Zhao replied.
Hua Yao was astonished, “You pursue him? Really?”
“Of course,” Yu Zhao was resolute.
Yu Yong’s words had a solid point – he was running out of time. Moreover, once Yu Yong found a wealthy family son-in-law, competing with him would be even more difficult.
However, Hua Yao countered, “But Zhao, in your whole life, whom have you pursued? Was it successful? An ALPHA like Qu Jing shouldn’t lack suitors, right?”
“He lacks someone like me to pursue him,” Yu Zhao responded.
Yu Zhao couldn’t sit back and wait.
Soon, Hua Yao messaged Yu Zhao, saying, “That Qu Jing of yours, after seeing you yesterday, immediately took a flight to the United States.”
Hua Yao added jokingly, “You’re really terrifying, scaring someone across the Pacific after just a meal.”
“No big deal, the Pacific isn’t that vast. I can cross it,” Yu Zhao replied.
In this day and age, who couldn’t travel by plane?
When Xiao Qi found out Yu Zhao was booking a flight, he was surprised, “So, President Zhao is so proactive in romance?”
“Romance?” Yu Zhao said emotionlessly, “I just consider him a client that must be won over.”
When put like that, Xiao Qi immediately understood why Yu Zhao was so proactive.
Yu Zhao was aware that running to another country to “chase” someone he had dinner with once was not something to be advertised. So, he booked his flight on business pretext. After all, they had a subsidiary and partners in the United States.
Yu Yong was currently busy dealing with the business he had taken from Yu Zhao, so he didn’t have time to focus on why Yu Zhao was going to the United States.
After all, Yu Zhao was always a globetrotting businessman.
Upon arriving in New York, Yu Zhao immediately found the hotel where Qu Jing was staying. However, Qu Jing was not in the hotel at that moment; he was in a business meeting. After concluding the meeting, Qu Jing left the office building and happened to see a familiar figure walking towards him on the street—Yu Zhao and Hua Yao.
Qu Jing narrowed his eyes.
Yu Zhao, upon seeing Qu Jing, wore his usual aloof expression and said, “It’s you?”
Qu Jing smiled and shook hands with him, “What a coincidence, Mr. Zhao.”
“Right,” Yu Zhao pointed towards the rooftop, “Our company has an office over there.”
“Oh, really?” Qu Jing smiled nonchalantly.
Yu Zhao nodded and said, “We can chat when we have time.” With that, Yu Zhao and Hua Yao entered the office building and took the elevator to the subsidiary.
Qu Jing wasn’t overly suspicious, as Yu Zhao appeared genuinely indifferent.
Hua Yao was surprised by Yu Zhao’s indifference, “Aren’t you going to chat with him?”
“Chatting too much would seem contrived,” Yu Zhao said, “People genuinely on a business trip don’t have time to casually chat with chance encounters on the street.”
“You even know that pursuing someone requires a feigned chance encounter?” Hua Yao teased.
Yu Zhao said, “I don’t know about ‘chance encounters,’ but I know how to ‘bump into’ clients when trying to win them over.”
Hua Yao was taken aback and didn’t know whether to consider Yu Zhao as experienced or inexperienced.
