Subordinate Doting - Chap 6
The cell phone buzzed like a life-threatening sound, and the assistant called me tirelessly.
Until the last moment, He Zhuo suddenly pulled off his headphones and held them in his hand. The desire that had been suppressed for four years and the pain of losing his loved one burst out in an instant. A hoarse groan escaped from his throat, and his tense brows finally relaxed.
He leaned his head against the door and raised his hand to answer the phone.
”Got it.” The voice was indifferent and cold.
What’s in his eyes is not satisfaction, but the determination and certainty to get what he wants after years of seeking it without success.
This was an opportunity he had paid for with his life, and he had to seize it at all costs.
This time, he wanted to give Ji Tingyu the most brilliant and fulfilling life, and he wanted him to belong to him completely from body to mind, inside to outside, every inch of skin and every bone.
-
He Zhuo pushed the door open only after the assistant finished playing three rounds of connect-the-dots.
The black striped suit matches his abstinence and coldness, making him look like the most elegant gentleman. When he raises his hand to adjust his tie, the rise and fall of his wrist bones makes people want to hold it and caress it.
Even if he told others, no one would believe what he had just done in the bathroom. Only the musky smell made his assistant raise an eyebrow.
The press conference has begun, and He Shifeng, Dong Lin and a group of shareholders are sitting at the table speaking.
As soon as He Zhuo stepped in, all the reporters quickly gathered around him like a tide, and the sound of shutter clicks rang out one after another.
He is a natural focal point, there is no doubt about that.
His aristocratic temperament comes from his mixed-race mother, and his ice-blue eyes are like relics that the Creator accidentally left in the world. Someone once jokingly called He Zhuo’s eyes the smallest ocean in the world, but they are enough to drown every beta and omega who looks into his eyes.
As for the alpha, he had already been scared away by his powerful gray wolf form.
”Sorry.” He Zhuo’s oppressive voice came from the microphone, and the whole audience fell silent instantly.
”Time is urgent, and I have more important things to do. To make a long story short, I will resign from the position of general manager of He’s Group and withdraw from He’s. From now on, the rise and fall, honor and disgrace of He’s will have nothing to do with me.”
As soon as the words were spoken, the whole audience was in an uproar, and the reporters’ eyes were rounder than the cameras.
However, He Zhuo, who was at the center of attention, put down the microphone without changing his expression, leaned over and looked at Dong Lin: “I won’t compete with you anymore. Your competitor now is He Shifeng. If you kill him, you can take over the power.”
He put his knife and fork into the fruit plate in front of He Shifeng and said, “I hope I can see you alive and well when I come back.”
-
The journey from Yicheng to Nivelle takes three days and three nights.
First take a plane, then transfer to the high-speed rail and the green train, and then take a bus for half a day, before you can see the Nivelle boundary monument that has been eroded by wind and snow.
This is a small town that has been ravaged by war and is covered with snow all year round. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains on all sides, and the roads are difficult to travel on. If you are not careful, you will easily get lost in the mountains.
He Zhuo found two guides and three bodyguards, but still couldn’t prevent his backpack from being stolen on the way. The sun was setting and they hadn’t reached the service area yet. The guide said it might rain and snow at night, and sleeping outdoors in the snowy mountains in such weather would be a death wish.
”Boss, we really can’t go any further! God is knocking on the door!” the guide gestured exaggeratedly.
He Zhuo glanced at Shanyin and drank the last bit of water in the bottle.
”Take me to your destination before dark, and the price will be increased tenfold. If you don’t want to go, get off now, and I’ll pay you the original price.”
After hesitating for a while, they continued on their way and finally arrived at the service area before the sun completely set. When they got off the car, they were so tired that they were half breath away and crawled towards the store.
He Zhuo also went in and bought some compressed biscuits. He half-knelt in front of the bonfire built by the shop owner and ate quickly, calculating in his mind how many days it would take to reach the press base.
At this moment, someone suddenly shouted not far ahead: “Director Ji!”
He Zhuo was stunned. After a brief tinnitus, the blood in his body began to boil and his heart felt as if it was being gripped by a huge force.
This is what Ji Tingyu’s teammates called him in his previous life!
He stood up suddenly and turned around following the man’s gaze. In an instant, the person he had been thinking about day and night suddenly appeared in front of him like a bullet.
The setting sun was like orange wine pouring down from the horizon. Ji Tingyu, wearing a khaki windbreaker, sat astride a huge motorcycle, with half of his face sunk into darkness and the other half covered by the sunset glow.
He tilted his head to smoke, the skin on his face was as white as snow, and his shoulder-length hair was casually tied into a small bun at the back of his head – the human’s hair color was similar to the animal’s fur color, this was a warm orange cat.
The cat began to feel lazy after sunset. He didn’t even want to lift his eyelids. He held the cigarette in his backhand and brought it to his mouth. He put the cigarette butt in his mouth as if he was going to kiss it and took a light puff.
When the white mist escaped from his lips, he opened his eyes as if in a half-awake state and replied with a word nonchalantly: “Hmm?”
He Zhuo’s heart was struck by this single word.
At that moment, he seemed to have his soul leaving his body. Time became extremely slow or even stopped. Every heartbeat was like a volcano erupting on a glacier, starting from the highest boiling temperature and then suddenly dropping to freezing point.
The person who called him shouted, “Do we have enough budget? There’s salmon in the store. Can we eat it in one piece?”
Ji Tingyu had a stern face, but two orange furry ears popped out from his head. He moved left and right like a greedy kitten seeing canned food: “Do you have a big belly?”
”Yes! It’s the part in the belly!”
The man knew that this meant tacit agreement, and he shouted “Long live the leader” and rushed back to the tavern. However, Ji Tingyu turned his head without warning and asked, “Haven’t you seen enough?”
The voice was frivolous but with a strong sense of wariness, and it was directed at He Zhuo.
But He Zhuo couldn’t even open his mouth to answer.
He didn’t dodge or avoid, nor did he move, allowing the two gazes to collide, his eyes becoming hot and wet.
Ji Tingyu put down his cigarette, looked him up and down, stared at his most seductive eyes for two seconds, and suddenly turned his anger into a smile: “Hey, where did you come from, young master?”
