Subordinate Doting - Chap 74
But he failed to achieve either of these goals.
His body was burned in the war zone where he had fought all his life.
His stone was given by He Zhuo to a spoiled and domineering child of a relative when he was most ill.
What was finally buried and passed away on the snowy mountain of Nivelle was a small ball of burnt cat hair and an empty bottle.
Chapter 29 Cat’s Courtship
He Zhuo still remembers that it was a month before Ji Tingyu’s death.
A heavy snowy day in the cold winter.
The relationship between the two has deteriorated to the point where they cannot even live under the same roof.
Because Ji Tingyu would lose his temper as soon as he saw him, and would fly into a rage for no reason, smashing and overturning anything he could reach. He would only be slightly normal when He Zhuo was not around.
In order to accommodate him, He Zhuo lived in the company all year round and spent one-third of his time abroad busy with business.
He suddenly went back because he had something urgent to do, and he even dared to go in when he was taking a nap.
But unfortunately, Ji Tingyu woke up early.
The two bumped into each other in front of the study.
He Zhuo still can’t forget the expression on Ji Tingyu’s face at that moment.
His eyes widened, his ears and tail all stuck out of his body, and he swept all the glass ornaments on the hanging shelf down.
He Zhuo stood there in a daze before he could react.
He looked at the mess on the ground, speechless and just found it ridiculous.
”Did I hit you? Huh?”
”Or am I just a pervert in your eyes? If you don’t want me to, will I rape you?”
Ji Tingyu kept shaking his head and told him not to come over.
He Zhuo didn’t know what he had done to make him hate him so much, and his temper flared up, and his words were harsh: “Do you think I must have you? There are plenty of prettier and more knowledgeable people out there who are with me, why would I need to look for you to entertain myself!”
The strange thing is that even though Ji Tingyu obviously hated him so much, he still felt uncomfortable after hearing such words.
His lips trembled unnaturally and tears rolled down his face.
He Zhuo regretted it immediately, but the words had already been said, so he could only turn around and leave.
Ji Tingyu suddenly called him: “Wait! Can I go out, please? I want to get some sun…”
The tone was so humble as if he had been imprisoned before.
He Zhuo was a little surprised: “It’s snowing and there’s no sun.”
Ji Tingyu’s voice became even quieter: “I’ll go and wait, maybe it will be there in a while… just a little while…”
”You can’t wait. The snow will continue to fall until night.”
He Zhuo didn’t want him to be disappointed after not being able to wait, but this sentence was taken as a signal that he was not allowed to go out.
The little light in Ji Tingyu’s eyes dimmed, and his empty eye sockets looked like two hollowed-out holes.
He Zhuo suddenly felt at a loss and quickly said, “I’m not stopping you from going out. You can go anytime you want. I’ll find a way.”
”Really?” Ji Tingyu smiled at him happily: “Thank you.”
He Zhuo was flattered. He lowered his head and touched his nose. He watched him walk away before he took out his cell phone and quickly contacted his cousin who ran a film and television company, asking him to come over and help build a “fake sun” for filming.
My cousin is on vacation and came here with his wife and children.
The domineering little boy took a fancy to a bottle of stones on the living room table and insisted on taking it away. If he was not allowed to take it away, he would lie on the ground and roll around.
He Zhuo was annoyed by the noise, and he was focused on helping Ji Tingyu create the landscape, so he just gave it to him.
It was not until the evening when Ji Tingyu came back from sunbathing that he asked the other party with some expectation if he could have dinner together. However, the cat turned his head to look at the empty bottle and asked, “Where is my stone…”
He Zhuo’s anticipation froze on his face in an instant.
His head suddenly buzzed, and for the first time in his life he was so panicked that he grabbed the car keys, said “Wait for me!” and rushed out the door, calling his cousin while rushing to the airport.
But how is it possible to catch up?
The whole afternoon passed and the cousin’s family had already arrived at the beach for vacation. The little boy threw the stones into the sea after playing with them enough.
He Zhuo was late in coming back, and Ji Tingyu was getting anxious waiting, so he carefully called a servant and asked, holding up the empty bottle, “Excuse me, have you seen the stone in it?”
The servant said, “I saw it. It was given to the young master by the master.”
Ji Tingyu didn’t understand, “But, that’s mine, why didn’t you tell me——”
The servant interrupted him with a sneer, “Master Ji, you may be sick and stupid. Since you have married me, naturally you and your things belong to me. How can you say that you are my own?”
Ji Tingyu was stunned for a moment, lowered his head and whispered: “Sorry…”
He no longer asked anyone, but just huddled on the sofa in the living room, holding the empty bottle tightly, as if he was holding on to the last ray of his soul.
No one in the family felt sorry for him, as the servants had long been fed up with this outsider who often went crazy and drove the masters out.
Ji Tingyu waited in vain, so he could only return to the small attic, rummage through the drawers and found a mobile phone that he hadn’t used in many years. After charging it, he took three deep breaths before he dared to call He Zhuo.
As soon as the call was connected, He Zhuo heard the person on the other end call out, “Sir, I, I heard that you borrowed my stone to give to the young master. I can help him prepare other gifts. Can you return the stone to me?”
His clumsy and flattering tone made He Zhuo feel like there was something stuck in his throat and he couldn’t speak at all.
After struggling for a long time, he finally said frankly: “Xiao Ji, I’m sorry, the stone was washed away by the sea. Can I buy some more beautiful ones for you?”
There was a sudden silence from the other side.
He Zhuo thought he was angry and ignored him.
But Ji Tingyu confessed like a serious criminal who had committed a heinous crime: “Is it because I had to go out today…”
”I’m sorry, sir. I won’t go out again. I will accept the treatment and won’t cause you any more trouble. Can you please… return them to me…”
His voice was trembling so much that He Zhuo could even imagine him shaking on the other end of the phone. He could only explain in vain: “I didn’t know it was yours. I left it in the living room at the time—”
