Wu Anyi is referring to Wu Anqi as the oldest male cousin, not his ‘dage‘ in the same way as Wu Ruo and Wu Zhu. Wu Anyi is Wu Yu’s older brother.

Beast spirits are not the same as beast pets. From what I understand, beast spirits are the spirits of deceased Yao that have been contracted by a practitioner. A beast pet is a living, breathing Yao like Jiaojiao and Jiujiu.
