The Disabled Tyrant’s Pet Palm Fish [Transmigration] - Chap 13
Chap 13
The iridescent pearl — obtained!
The system which had been silent for a long time, once again sounded, like a blessing from
heaven. Li Yu was so happy he was about to float off. Of course, because Jing-wang was still
here, he controlled himself somewhat instead of ditching Jing-wang immediately to enter the
system.
After the mission completed, the iridescent pearl lost its value to Li Yu. Li Yu couldn’t keep
holding the pearl in his mouth the entire time. Originally, he planned to put the iridescent pearl
down. However, Jing-wang and Wang Xi were both gathered outside the porcelain fishbowl still,
looking over with intense gazes at him.
Li Yu: “……”
Li Yu felt like if he dared to throw away the iridescent pearl right now, who knows, he might be
stabbed to death by the daggers from the tyrant’s eyes.
Jing-wang must really believe he liked this pearl alot. That’s why it was given to him, right?
Li Yu just apologized so he definitely couldn’t throw away this pearl. He needed to pretend to
like it a lot. However, holding it with his fish mouth the entire time was really making his mouth
sore……
Li Yu thought for a moment and placed the pearl on the floor of the bowl. Then, he nudged it
shyly with his mouth. The round pearl rolled forward slightly and then stopped. Li Yu continued
using his mouth to nudge and push it, shoving the iridescent pearl far.
It’s just like playing soccer. Li Yu comforted himself while having quite some fun.
“Your highness, look. The pearl that you bestowed upon the little thing, the little thing really
likes it. It’s rolling the pearl around.” Not to mention, the little carp jumped so delightedly just
now, and even caught the pearl from its master’s hands. Wang Xi felt extremely excited.
Uh, but the pearl that’s being rolled was rather valuable. Wang gonggong felt a bit pained for
Guifei just watching this.
The little carp chased and played with the iridescent pearl. The clear, bright gleam of the pearl
crisscrossed with the silver-gray color of the fish’s shadow, creating a rarely seen marvel.
Jing-wang smiled faintly. So this little fish really did want the pearl.
Li Yu rolled the pearl all the way to the corner, pretended he got tired and needed rest, then went
to lay on the white rock bed to enter the system.
As expected, he was immediately greeted with the reward screen for completing the branch
mission.
Li Yu suppressed his excitement and seriously read the method for utilizing the shapeshifting
pill. He was just about to accept the reward when suddenly, a thought came to mind and he
remembered something.
The bottle that held this medicine was rather old styled and carved with some kind of design he
didn’t understand. It didn’t look very big but if he directly accepted it, where was a fish like him
supposed to put the pill bottle?
Was he supposed to let the pill bottle float in the freshwater inside his interdimensional space?
…… seemed a bit disconcerting.
Li Yu quickly calculated for a moment and asked the system: If I don’t accept it immediately,
would the shapeshifting medicine disappear?
System: “No. The reward that you receive for completing a mission will always be there.”
Li Yu nodded his head in contentment: Very good. Then I’ll leave this reward here for now. I’ll
pick it up and use it when I need it!
System: “……”
Li Yu felt like he opened a brand new door to the world. Even if his interdimensional space
wasn’t big enough, it didn’t prevent him from using this kind of smart idea to store non-urgent
items. He always gets screwed by the system, occasionally screwing the system back felt pretty
good too!
When he first heard there was a shapeshifting pill, he was truly ecstatic. However, after carefully
thinking about it, this medicine really can’t be used randomly. In the original novel, he didn’t
exist. If he randomly appeared as a human recklessly, it might cause unnecessary commotion.
Not to mention, the shapeshift only lasted two hours. The timing of the shift, the things that he
needed to do, were all very important. He needed to plan everything well ahead of time and find
a suitable retreat plan. It wouldn’t be good if he suddenly turned back into a fish in front of
everyone in public.
Anyways, he had the pill already. There was no need to worry.
Li Yu closed the ‘iridescent pearl’ mission, full of lofty ambitions. Then he went back to
examine the main task again and immediately wilted.
The time limit of the “Getting along” task was still counting down, reminding him that he only
had less than one day to complete it.
If he couldn’t complete this step in the main mission, even though he obtained the medicine, he
still wouldn’t have an opportunity to use it.
Li Yu: You shitty system, with how things are, can’t you give me a hint? Won’t your heart and
conscience feel guilty?
System: “System doesn’t have a heart. Host, please patiently complete your mission.”
Li Yu: “……”
He just knew this was a completely emotionless system.
Li Yu exited. In the dead of the night, the iridescent pearl was still letting out a faint fluorescent
light and brightened up the porcelain fish bowl like it was daytime.
Li Yu placed the water grass blanket on the iridescent pearl to cover up the radiance of the
iridescent pearl. Then he yawned and went to sleep leaning against the pearl.
When he woke up, Li Yu smelled the fragrance of ink. Not far away from him was the row of
food that he had planned to give to Jing-wang still stored there.
Jing-wang didn’t touch his gift. If this gift wasn’t accepted and remained here for too long, it’d
go bad. Li Yu could only take care of it himself.
Done eating the fish food, Li Yu recalled the unfortunate main task. Was he supposed to sit by
and do nothing while the time limit passed?
He can’t. He had to check out what Jing-wang was doing so he can get involved as well and gain
a little interaction. Doing something randomly was better than doing nothing at all.
Li Yu could hear movement inside Jing-wang’s room. However, the porcelain bowl was
somewhat high for him. If Jing-wang didn’t walk over voluntarily, it was hard for Li Yu to see
him.
Li Yu quietly gathered strength in his tail. Currently, he was already very familiar with how to
use his tail. Jumping out of the fish bowl was very possible. This time, however, he wanted to
hang onto the edge of the fish bowl and stop on the side, instead of just taking a glance and then
falling back into the water. This was a new trick, he never practiced before. In order to grab onto
the fishbowl on landing, he needed to have a certain coordination between his fish body and fish
fins. It didn’t seem like he was quite capable yet.
Just like this, Jing-wang who was sitting at the table and writing, heard a light sound as the little
carp waved its tail and jumped up.
Jing-wang saw the carp wave its tail several times before so he wasn’t too surprised. In the
Ganqing palace, Qiu-shi kept harping on about the carp fish being able to fly. The Emperor
didn’t believe it. However, Jing-wang wasn’t skeptical at all. He knew that his fish really did
have a special method of ‘flying.’ It’s just Jing-wang didn’t want to speak up for Qiu-shi, that’s
all.
Seeing this fish jump up again, Jing-wang had a composed expression, expecting the carp to drop
back down soon enough.
Yet after waiting for a while, this fish didn’t actually drop back into the water, but instead,
smacked into the side of the fish bowl with a pa! sound. Fins and tail flailing all over, the entire
fish started to slide down very, very slowly.
Then, plop, into the water.
Jing-wang: “……”
The little carp seemed to refuse to accept this result and immediately jumped up again.
Jing-wang: “……”
Jing-wang pretty much guessed what this fish wanted to do. Just as the little carp landed on the
edge of the fishbowl and started to flail all over again, he picked it up promptly.
Li Yu: ???
The little carp was just engaged in a fierce battle with the fish bowl. Suddenly, he felt his fish
body lighten and be lifted high by someone. He raised his head to look. Other than Jing-wang,
who else would it be?
Li Yu happily curled his tail around Jing-wang’s finger: Master, you came to help me!
Jing-wang: “……”
Finger feeling a bit ticklish, Jing-wang dangled the fish and gave a light cough. He reacted too
fast and didn’t prepare a place for the fish first. Afraid that this fish wouldn’t be able to handle
leaving water for too long, Jing-wang made do and put the fish gently into a clean teacup on the
table.
This teacup was made of white jade, covered by threads of green, shaped like a flower petal. It
was just big enough to contain a fish. Jing-wang then poured some fresh water into the teacup.
The teacup was very shallow. After entering this cup, the little carp could easily raise its head to
look around all over.
Although Li Yu had already moved into Jing-wang’s room, the view of a fish was very limited.
All day he listened to the sound of people coming in and out, but he’s never seen how Jing-
wang’s room looked like. Very quickly, he was able to see clearly.
The little carp felt somewhat upset.
After viewing the exquisitely luxurious Ganqing Palace, Jing-wang room felt somewhat lacking
in comparison. It can be generally described as reserved, simple, composed, and very in line with
the tyrant’s clean and cold temperament. The amount of decorative items was so little, it was sad,
and only placed when completely necessary. It was kind of like an ice cave.
No matter. Li Yu thought internally. His purpose for being here was to change the tyrant’s
temperament. Perhaps in the future, he could make this cold cave warm up.
Next to the teacup that he was in was brush and ink. After Jing-wang settled Li Yu down, he sat
down and picked up the brush.
So he was about to write and draw. Li Yu recalled the fragrance of ink he smelled before and
excitedly waved his tail. He understood plenty in this matter, so he can give Jing-wang some
ideas.
Whenever the little carp became happy, its tail raised way high. Jing-wang shot him a warning
glance. Li Yu immediately placed his tail down sensibly. He finally managed to get out of the
fish tank, if he accidentally got Jing-wang’s writing or drawing wet, he definitely would be sent
back in punishment.
The little carp became quiet and instead started to stare ardently.
Jing-wang pondered deeply for a moment and spread the paper. With a few mere brushes, he
drew a lively, realistic looking fish.
Li Yu saw. This fish head, this fish body, this fish tail. Ao! Jing-wang was actually drawing
him!!
Li Yu was very happy to learn that someone was drawing his portrait. From top of Jing-wang’s
head to the bottom of his foot, no matter where Li Yu looked, he thought Jing-wang looked
extremely pleasing to the eye.
Li Yu thought he should make some effort as well. Since Jing-wang was drawing, why don’t he
be Jing-wang’s model fish?
The little carp deliberated for a moment, then bent into what he believed to be a rather majestic
and impressive pose. In actuality, he just placed himself in an awkward S-shape angle.
Smiling, Jing-wang felt the little carp to be pretty interesting and changed a few brushes
according to the fish’s appearance.
Although not making a sound, one fish and one man spent this time rather joyously and
harmoniously.
“Your highness, your highness, the Emperor’s gifts are here.” With sweat covering his forehead,
Wang Xi came in and reported.
Jing-wang placed the brush down and put the drawing to the side to dry, then he went to accept
the imperial edict. Before he exited, he looked back and saw the little carp facing the drawing,
flashing and waving its tail, looking eager.
Eyelid jumping, Jing-wang turned back and brought the fish containing teacup along with him to
avoid leaving this fish alone in the room and returning to see this drawing gain a few more
fishtail imprints.
Li Yu who was unexpectedly ‘taken out, pot pan and all’ by Jing-wang: ???
The news of Qiu-guifei making false charges against Jing-wang has already spread across the
Imperial Palace. The Emperor was very clear in his heart, if this was years ago, he definitely
wouldn’t have let go an attempt to frame a prince so easily. However, since he planned for the
2nd prince to become the future Crown Prince, he couldn’t completely not give face to the 2nd
Prince. After this occured, although the Emperor gave Mu TianZhao the cold shoulder for a few
days, in the end, he didn’t plan to change the Crown Prince candidate over this.
Since the Emperor punished Guifei, on Jing-wang’s side, he needed to spend quite the effort
placating him. Just by looking at the thickness of the gift list, one can tell that all sorts of rare and
valuable treasures were stuffed at Jing-wang like they weren’t worth anything; the Emperor
didn’t even bat an eye.
Amongst the gifts was something rather unusual. It was priceless koi that were given to the
Emperor as tribute from another nation. There were only a few of these in the entire world.
The Emperor had bestowed gifts upon Jing-wang before, but previously, Jing-wang’s taste was
very hard to satisfy. He didn’t lack gold or silver and he didn’t have any interest in beauty.
Everytime the Emperor had to decide what to give Jing-wang, he’d always get a headache. Now
that he suddenly discovered that Jing-wang actually had something he was interested in, the
Emperor seemed like he was injected with enthusiasm and with a mighty wave of his brush;
since Jing-wang loved to raise fish, then he’ll just bestow him some more fish.
With a wide smile, Head Manager Luo commanded the servants to carry over a fish tank that
was about 1 meters long into Jingtai Palace. This fish tank was carved completely from crystal,
surprisingly transparent. Inside the tank held priceless, red and gold colored koi fishes that the
Emperor picked out himself. These koi were raised extremely well, each rather large in size.
When this group of fish started swimming together, the flowing light and vibrant colors looked
quite dazzling and beautiful.
Li Yu was just being carried by Wang-gonggong and eating the red fish food that Wang-
gonggong was feeding him when he learned that the Emperor actually stuffed fish at Jing-wang.
Li Yu opened his mouth in shock; a grain of fish food floated away.
Did fish have to strive for favor nowadays as well?
With his intelligence, how could he fight with any random fish? Also, he still had his mission.
What if Jing-wang stopped paying attention to him, who else can he do missions with?
No, no. He must fight.
Glaring like a tiger watching his prey, Li Yu decided to guard Jing-wang like an old mother hen.
If any other fish tries to get Jing-wang’s attention, then he will chase that other fish away.
The little carp secretly got ready for battle. Yet after Jing-wang finished viewing the koi-
containing crystal fish tank, he didn’t actually keep the rare and valuable koi.
Jing-wang’s willpower was staunch, not enticed by the pretty koi. Li Yu was very delighted.
Naturally, when Li Yu was carried back into the room by Wang-gonggong and discovered that
his porcelain fishbowl was changed into the huge crystal fish tank that originally contained koi,
Li Yu was even happier.
~~~~~
A small scene (Giving gifts)
The Emperor: Son, do you like the fish that dad sent you?
Jing-wang: Save the fish tank, you can take away everything else.
The Emperor: ……
Li Yu: Thank you, your highness. I have a new fish tank~~
