“That time I hadn’t had time to ask you what Methuselah meant,” Chu Feng said, “will you tell me now?”
Luo ZhouZhou looked at him, pursed his lips and remained silent.
Chu Feng continued, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t say anything, I’ve already checked.”
Luo ZhouZhou’s heart skipped a beat and he looked at him nervously.
“Methuselah, a disease on our planet, is sort of a genetic disease.” As someone crossed the street in front of him, Chu Feng stepped on the brakes, rested his hands on the steering wheel, and continued, “People who have this disease develop wrinkles and their hair turns white within a few days. Their backs start to hunch, and their whole bodies look like dried orange peels. The most important thing is that the organs of the body also develop various pathologies, and within a few months, they age beyond recognition, and in a year at most, they die like a real old person. Methuselah is terrible, ZhouZhou, but I just didn’t expect that you would become like that in the future.”
Chu Feng finished his sentence in a calm tone and turned to look at Luo ZhouZhou. His face was solemn, and his light brown eyes were like two deep, bottomless lakes, filled with compassion and sorrow.
Luo ZhouZhou was stunned.
In his mind, he remembered Chu Feng as mean, bad, teasing, or cold, but this was the first time he had seen such a sad Chu Feng. He felt overwhelmed, and his heart was faintly uneasy.
“That’s not it, Methuselah is not a disease, it’s the name of our tribe,” Luo ZhouZhou whispered.
“Oh, the Methuselah tribe? But I’ve never heard of such a tribe in the world. You must be lying to me.” Chu Feng continued to look at him, his voice lowering with Luo ZhouZhou’s.
Luo ZhouZhou’s head hung down, picking at the leather chair beneath him with his fingernails.
The pedestrians in front of the vehicle had already passed, but Chu Feng remained parked, watching him patiently.
Luo ZhouZhou finally opened and closed his lips with difficulty and said, “I’m not lying to you, you haven’t heard of us because we are not ordinary people.”
“Hmm?”
“Our tribe is no ordinary people, but I can only tell you so much.” Luo ZhouZhou raised his head, this time much louder. After saying this, he subconsciously held his breath and looked nervously at Chu Feng.
He felt the air freeze, and time stopped.
Chu Feng was still looking at him, but a smile gradually appeared under his eyes, and the initial sadness had disappeared. He nodded his head in a matter-of-fact manner, “Oh, I know, so this is Zhou Zhou’s biggest secret…”
The end of the sentence dragged on a bit too long, with a kind of languid sensuality, then he turned his head and continued driving, with the corners of his mouth curled up, if at all.
Luo ZhouZhou caught the change in his expression, first in shock, then gradually mulling it over.
He was lying to me! He used this clumsy performance to get the truth out of me, and then made fun of me in his heart.
He looked at the side of Chu Feng’s face with hatred, his hands clenched and unclenched, and the flames of humiliation and indignation began to rise.
Chu Feng, unaware of his anger, continued to add fuel to his fire, asking in a relaxed tone, “So, Zhou Zhou, can you change your shape? How do you maintain your human form? Shall we drive to a place where no one is around and you transform for me?”
After a moment of silence, Luo ZhouZhou whispered, “You’re a mean, mean person! Not even the most shameless werewolf in the world can match you! Your blood stinks!”
He gritted his teeth with every word, full of remorse.
Why didn’t I listen to General Luo Pei and stay away from this man?
Honk honk. Because their car had been parked for too long, the car behind them began to honk impatiently.
Luo ZhouZhou came to his senses and started to open the door. Chu Feng quickly pressed the lock button, released the brake pedal, and drove off.
“Open the door and let me out.” Luo ZhouZhou shouted at the top of his lungs, twisting the door handle. His face was red with anger and exertion, and his chest was heaving up and down.
Chu Feng quickly pulled over to the side of the road, turned around and shouted, “This is in the freeway——” Before he could finish, his voice stopped abruptly. He saw that Luo ZhouZhou was sweating all over, his face and eyes were red, and the corners of his mouth were hanging down, as if he was about to cry at any moment.
“I’m sorry. I apologize.” He changed his words, and immediately softened his tone.
“I don’t need a false apology from you.” Luo ZhouZhou’s voice had a trembling cry in it, “Your apology is worth less than a werewolf’s oath.”
Chu Feng’s face remained unchanged as he heard this and continued, “It was wrong of me to have made fun of this serious matter after you told me your secret.”
“Zhou Zhou, I’m sorry. Although my apology is worth less than a werewolf’s oath, my apology at this moment is heartfelt.” Chu Feng’s tone was solemn and his expression sincere.
Luo ZhouZhou’s anger subsided after a while, and he sunk back down in his seat with his lips pursed tightly and stopped trying to open the door.
Chu Feng leaned over, opened the glove compartment of the passenger side, took out a box of tissues, and handed two to Luo ZhouZhou.
“Here, wipe it off.” He said warmly.
Luo ZhouZhou instantly became emotional again, turning around and shouting, “I’m not crying!”
“No, I told you to wipe your sweat.” Chu Feng said, “Of course I know you are not crying, but it’s too hot in this car, so I need to wipe my sweat too.”
Luo ZhouZhou looked at him suspiciously, and saw that although his face was dry, he did not look as if he was faking, so he slowly reached out and took the two tissues.
Chu Feng looked at him, and his eyes flashed with laughter.
Luo ZhouZhou lowered his head to wipe his sweat, and heard a rustling noise coming from the driver’s seat. Then a long-fingered hand appeared in front of him, two pieces of candy wrapped in colored cellophane he had seen before held in the palm.
“Want some candy?” Chu Feng asked.
“No.” Luo ZhouZhou replied stiffly. After thinking about it, he added, “I threw away the candy you gave me last time.”
“Oh, yeah?” Chu Feng returned without a care in the world, and peeled off a piece of candy and tossed it into his mouth. “The last one I gave you was pretty good, it was blueberry.” He said with the candy in his mouth, “The best one is orange, but unfortunately it’s gone.”
Luo ZhouZhou snorted and said with malice, “The last one you gave me was orange flavored.”
The sweet and sour, lingering orange flavor on his tongue, he still remembered.
Chu Feng trailed off, “Ooooh…” he said with a long, meaningful oh-so-sweet sound. Then he stopped talking, smiled, and continued driving.
Luo ZhouZhou reacted with hindsight, his heart tickling with anger.
This man was really cunning and annoying.
He remembered again the words General Luo Pei had said to him: Stay away from him.
The off-road vehicle soon reached the checkpoint, and the soldiers opened the gate from a distance and saluted at the spot. Luo ZhouZhou remembered how hard it was to break through the gate of the checkpoint last time, and he felt a little upset.
Chu Feng gave him a long, meaningful sideways glance, obviously remembering the incident as well. However, it was good that he did not say anything to make people angry, so Luo ZhouZhou, who was ready for battle, breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed his tense expression.
Chu Feng looked ahead with another smile on his face, which disappeared in an instant. He drove through the crowded streets of Bayard and pulled into the parking lot of the police station.
Luo ZhouZhou got out of the car, took two steps and then turned back, and said to Chu Feng through the window, “Thank you for driving me to the police station. Goodbye”
After saying that, he didn’t wait for his response, but turned around and left.
Luo ZhouZhou walked into the lobby. The last time he had been arrested, it had been late at night and there had been very few people, but now the entire lobby was bustling with uniformed police officers. He looked around, following his memory, and walked down the hall.
There was a line of handcuffed men standing by the wall, eyeing him with ill will.
“Hey, look what I found. A beautiful, unmarked little lamb.” One of the tall, thin men whistled at Luo ZhouZhou.
Several other people standing around began to laugh.
When Luo ZhouZhou looked over at him, the man slowly cracked his mouth open to reveal his yellowed teeth and stuck out the tip of his tongue to lick his lower lip.
His eyes gleamed with arousal, “I’ll tear your little close-fitting jacket off, listen to you beg and cry, and then scream——”
“Nic, behave yourself.” A stout policewoman strode over to him, grabbed him by the collar, revealing the holster at her waist, and whispered, “One more word of bullshit from you, and I’ll lock you up with the Beast King Morgan.”
Luo ZhouZhou recognized the policewoman as Jenny, whom he had met last time at the police station.
Nic held up his hand in handcuffs and said, “Sir, I’ve been in jail for a long time, and I’ve just been brought in, so I’m waiting for you to uncuff me.”
Jenny picked up the file board in her hand and read it, roughly uncuffed Nic and snapped, “Move it.”
Nic staggered out, reached the door, and gestured nastily at Luo ZhouZhou again.
Luo ZhouZhou quickly turned around and looked at Jenny.
“Hello Jenny.” He said.
“It’s you, Luo ZhouZhou, I remember you.” Jenny looked at him and smiled, “Breaking the checkpoint again?”
“No, I’m looking for someone,” Luo ZhouZhou replied. Taking a few more steps forward, he lowered her voice and said, “I’m looking for Chen SiHan.”
Jenny looked him over meaningfully and said, “The sheriff is in a meeting right now and you can’t see him.”
“Can I wait in his office then?” Luo ZhouZhou asked.
Jenny shrugged her shoulders and said, “What do you think? Of course not.”
“Jenny, where’s Chen SiHan?”
A familiar voice sounded from the doorway, and Luo ZhouZhou turned sharply, it was Chu Feng. He stood there, his tall form blocking half of the door, looking over his head at Jenny.
Jenny and several police officers stood at attention, and saluted, “General Chu.”
“Replying to General Chu, the sheriff is in a meeting.”
Luo ZhouZhou just watched as he crossed the hall and walked into the passageway leading to Chen SiHan’s office. He even smiled to himself during this time, looking infuriatingly handsome.
Luo ZhouZhou regretted a bit that he had come to the police station as well. If he hadn’t come in earlier, he could have gone with him to Chen SiHan’s office.
Jenny quickly went off to work, and Luo ZhouZhou had to stand in the lobby and wait. People came and went, and he needed to get out of the way from time to time, so he simply walked out from the lobby and sat down on a wooden bench by the lawn.
The evening breeze was gentle, and occasionally there was a burst of shouting in the lobby. From time to time, a police car came screeching in, from which one or two handcuffed men got out and were shoved and jostled up the steps.
Luo ZhouZhou sat on a bench, enveloped in the halo of streetlights at the edge of the lawn, quietly waiting for Chen SiHan.
In the sheriff’s room, Chu Feng leaned back and watched the three-dimensional projection in the air, watching with a furrowed brow. He played with a silver lighter in his hand, spinning it rapidly between his fingers.
After a while, he sighed, got up, walked to the window, and looked down through the large glass window without conscious thought. Then his eyes stopped at a place.
He saw Luo Pei’s funny little Omega, sitting on the edge of the lawn, motionless as a statue. He seemed to have come looking for someone, but apparently he couldn’t find the person.
He thought he would call someone to pick him up, but he was still sitting here.
Chu Feng looked up at the terminal and saw that the time was 8:00 p.m. sharp. He hesitated, returned to his desk, and grabbed his car keys. But when he arrived at the place where Luo ZhouZhou was sitting, all that was left was an empty bench, and the man was gone.
Luo ZhouZhou slowly walked down the long street outside the police station. He couldn’t stand the look in the eyes of the inmates who stepped out of the police car and saw him.
Filled with surprise and greed, they made him feel uncomfortable, so he simply strolled outside for a while.
He had just asked Jenny about the Chen SiHan meeting, which would take a while to end, so he wasn’t worried about missing him.
The night in Bayard was brightly lit. Luo ZhouZhou looked at the lively stores and the joking pedestrians, and before he knew it, he had reached the end of the long street. The houses were dark, the lights were fading, and there were no more pedestrians. He looked at the darkness ahead of him, hesitating to go on, ready to turn back to the police station.
As he turned around, a shadow suddenly emerged from the alley beside him. Before he could react, a hand was over his mouth and his neck was tightly strangled.
“Little Omega, I’ve been waiting for you at the police station gate for half a day, and I finally caught you.” An excited voice, accompanied by sticky, moist heat, entered Luo ZhouZhou’s ears.
The voice sounded familiar, but Luo ZhouZhou couldn’t be bothered to think about it, because the strangling arm began to force him, dragging him into the alley beside him. He stumbled backwards and was then pushed against the wall with such force that his back hurt.
The alley was dark, with no one in sight, and there was only one streetlight that was going on and off, emitting the sound of electricity short-circuiting.
Luo ZhouZhou thought to himself, I’ve just been kidnapped.
With the help of the flickering streetlight, he saw clearly that the man in front of him was the man named Nic, whom he had met at the police station.
When he saw that Luo ZhouZhou was not alarmed and was even calm, Nic gasped and smiled, “Little lamb, are you out looking for me?” Then he leaned in close to his neck and took a whiff, “Mmm, so fragrant, it smells like purity all over. You’ll smell even better when you have my scent all over you.”
Luo ZhouZhou looked at Nic without moving, a little amused that the latter did not know that he was dealing with a vampire. In his old world, where he lived in a place similar to Bayard, he often saw the skinny junkies wandering in the alley when he returned home at night.
There were always a few desperate, death-defying guys with murder weapons, forcing him to empty his wallet. But as soon as he showed his two fangs, they fled in a huff.
But in an instant he couldn’t laugh. Because the man released the hand that covered his mouth and nose and choked his neck instead, a foul odor rushing into his nose.
“Stay away from me.” Luo ZhouZhou turned his head in agony, his hands trying to push the person in front of him.
“Shhhhhh,” whispered Nic excitedly, “Are you being pampered? Wait till you get comfortable enough to cry…”
The smell was even more pungent and nauseating, and Luo ZhouZhou pushed forward hard and said loudly, “I told you to stay away from me, so don’t make me angry if you want to avoid regret.”
“Hahaha!” said Nic, looking up and laughing, “What did I hear? The little lamb is going to be mighty, and I’d like to hear how you’re going to make me regret it.”
Luo ZhouZhou pushed a few times without success, and then he began to panic.
Of course, my body had not yet recovered, my teeth had not yet grown out, and my physical strength is failing. Even dealing with this ordinary person is a problem.
Nic’s other hand took advantage of the situation and stroked Luo ZhouZhou’s waist in the back, saying impatiently, “Don’t worry, this will make you comfortable…”
Luo ZhouZhou began to struggle and yelled, “I don’t have any money, I forgot to bring it.”
“Sweetie, I don’t want your money, I’ll give you money later.” Nic, unmoved, leaned in and tried to kiss ZhouZhou on the lips.
Luo ZhouZhou desperately struggled to get his hand free, watching the hot mouth getting closer and closer to him, and was about to throw a punch at him, when he felt his body lighten up, and the force holding him in place disappeared in an instant.
“Ah!” With a miserable scream, Nic flew across the alley and landed heavily on the stone floor, four or five meters away.
“Didn’t you hear him tell you to stay away from him?” A voice as if wrapped in ice rang out coldly.
