A tall, thin officer stood at the bottom of the platform steps, and Chu Feng smiled at him, saying, “Chief Guard Willson, please make way.”
Willson didn’t move or speak, but only lifted a pair of narrow eyes to look at him.
“Chief Guard Willson, excuse me.” Chu Feng repeated. He still had the right smile on his face, but his eyes were cold.
Everyone was watching the scene, including Luo ZhouZhou.
Luo ZhouZhou felt that the officer blocking Chu Feng looked familiar, as if he had seen him before. After thinking about it, he remembered that the last time President Calgar visited the institute, this officer was also present, following Calgar with Chu Feng on the left and him on the right.
After staring at Chu Feng for a few seconds, Willson slowly revealed a smile. He leaned close to Chu Feng and whispered, “I’d like to know who the Omega is that impressed General Chu. They must be very attractive.”
Chu Feng’s smile deepened, and he even reached out and patted Willson’s shoulder, and whispered back, “Thank you for your concern, Chief Guard, but they’re not the same type as Miss Ruya from the Ace Bar.”
Willson’s face darkened instantly, and the light in his two long, narrow eyes turned cold.
“Willson, you can’t wait any longer, can you? Don’t worry, you’ll be able to invite your favorite dance partner soon.” Calgar, who was on the platform behind them, picked up the microphone at the right moment and joked.
The others could only see their movements and expressions, but could not hear the conversation. When they heard Calgar say that, they thought Willson and Chu Feng were joking and some boo ed, while others were laughing loudly and said, “Chief Guard Willson, stop General Chu, don’t let him invite the most dazzling Omega in the banquet hall.”
Willson looked at the platform, on which Calgar was standing, watching him with a smile on his face and a warning in his eyes. He slowly turned sideways, shrugged his shoulders at the crowd, and helplessly said, “How can I interrupt General Chu’s beautiful evening?”
Afterwards, he gave way, spreading his right hand, gesturing to Chu Feng to come ‘this way’. Without looking at him again, Chu Feng turned and stepped onto the marble floor of the banquet hall.
Luo ZhouZhou looked at Chu Feng and his heart was beating very hard. He was about to have his first dance with Chu Feng, but he hadn’t even glanced in this direction, so how did he know he was here?
Especially now that he was still shrinking in the crowd with Lin Fan, blocked by a few tall people in front of him. He quickly moved to the left, where there were fewer people, and said to those around him, “Excuse me, make way, excuse me.”
The people around him were pushed aside and a few of them looked at him a bit unhappily, but Luo ZhouZhou couldn’t care less now and could only apologize as he got out of the room.
Lin Fan followed behind him and squeezed together to the left.
Chu Feng was wearing a slim, tailored black suit with a silver-gray shirt and tie of the same color. His hair was slicked back, revealing a full forehead and deep eyebrows, giving him a compelling and handsome appearance. As he walked forward with his posture straight, a beam of snowy chasing light hit his body, and the passing crowd made way for him.
When Luo ZhouZhou saw that he was marching in his direction, his heart beat faster and faster, almost bursting out of his throat. Although he had learned dance steps in the past, he was a little nervous about being watched by so many people. What if I step on Chu Feng’s feet too often?, he thought. But even though his heart was beating, he quickly squeezed to the left side of the crowd, standing on his tiptoes slightly to make himself more visible.
Chu Feng smiled at the person in front of him who was making way for him, and looked over the crowd, landing on Luo ZhouZhou and then quickly moving away.
Luo ZhouZhou touched his gaze for an instant and felt at ease.
Chu Feng has finally seen me, he almost leaped in joy at the thought.
When Lin Fan saw this, he covered his mouth and whispered, “Zhou Zhou, General Chu has come to invite you. I’ll go to the corner first.” After saying that, he scampered to the corner.
Chu Feng was already in front of Luo ZhouZhou.
As he approached, Luo ZhouZhou stood upright, both nervous and expectant, holding his breath, waiting for the invitation. His right hand, which was hanging by the side of his pants, even moved, ready to be handed over the moment Chu Feng reached out his hand.
Yet Chu Feng didn’t stop when he reached him.
In his astonished eyes, he passed him by without turning his head and continued walking.
At that moment, Luo ZhouZhou was startled to the spot. 1
When he realized what he was doing, he turned around hastily, wanted to follow and tug Chu Feng’s sleeve, and whisper to him, ‘I’m here’.
Before he could take a step, however, applause and cheers rang out around him.
He saw that Chu Feng was bending slightly and bowing to the famous girl in a gesture of invitation. The band played another dance song, and purple shadows flashed around him.
Luo ZhouZhou was bumped on the shoulder before he regained his senses and saw a girl in a long purple dress, smiling sweetly, being led to the dance floor by Chu Feng. The people around him poured past, leaving only a small space in the middle.
Luo ZhouZhou was at the end of the line, and through the gap in the crowd, he could see the two of them twirling and dancing under the beams of the spotlight. Her long purple dress was like scattered flowers, wrapping Chu Feng in them and making one’s eyes sore.
Luo ZhouZhou slowly clenched his right hand, which was draped over the side of his pants, then put it in his pocket, and walked silently toward the door by himself. He passed through the lawn, out the front door of the building, and wandered aimlessly along a stone path.
Several black-clothed men watched him, but neither asked questions nor followed him, just remained motionless at the door.
Luo ZhouZhou stepped out of the darkness for a while, looking at the outline of the trees in the distance, and remembered the instructions Chu Feng had given him.
After standing still for a moment, he turned around, walked up to the men in black and asked, “I am an Omega, are the dark places safe? Can I go sit by myself?”
His face clearly had sadness written all over it, and his big, dark eyes were filled with sorrow.
The men in black looked at each other, and one of them said, “It’s very safe, and the circle outside is also guarded, so feel free to go and sit down.”
“Thank you.” Luo ZhouZhou turned around and with his head hanging started walking in the direction he was headed before.
There were streetlights all along the way, and the light was just right, not blinding nor illuminating the road. He didn’t want to hear the music, so he walked further and further away, and finally reached a lake and sat down on a bench.
The lake was quiet, so quiet that only insects chirped, but the distant sound of music still penetrated his ears. Luo ZhouZhou could tell that two songs had been changed since he had left the banquet hall.
Chu Feng and Qin Baozhu, who was pursuing him, had already danced twice.
Tomorrow, he thought, he would go to Chu Feng and ask him to remove the vampire stickers from the crane machine and the visor in the car and return them to him.
Chu Feng would be surprised and ask why, so he would question him loudly and sternly.
Ask him why he danced with other people, why he… smiled like that, why he held other people’s hands, and why he looked at them.
Luo ZhouZhou was thinking sadly when he heard the sound of rustling footsteps behind him. He looked back and saw a tall silhouette of a man standing against the light on the side of the road, motionless and facing in his direction.
The man called out to him, “Zhou Zhou.” It was Chu Feng.
Luo ZhouZhou’s heart jumped, but he did not answer, only turned his head back.
The footsteps sounded again and stopped slowly beside him. The bench swayed slightly and Chu Feng sat down beside him. “The hall is too stuffy and crowded, and Zhou Zhou’s found a good place.”
Luo ZhouZhou didn’t want to talk to him, and kept his mouth shut, not saying a word.
After Chu Feng said this, he loosened his tie and leaned back, putting an arm on the back of the bench behind him. After waiting for a while, Chu Feng did not say anything, so Luo ZhouZhou couldn’t help but ask, “What are you doing out here instead of dancing with Qin Baozhu?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted them and quickly shut it.
Chu Feng looked at him, surprised, and asked, “Is her name Qin Baozhu? Do you know her?”
Luo ZhouZhou didn’t say a word and turned his face away.
“I really can’t remember her name,” Chu Feng said warmly, “I only remember her surname is Qin.”
Luo ZhouZhou didn’t look back, and after a silence, he recited in a slightly faster tone, “An Omega and Alpha, after the maturation of the glands, smell each other’s pheromones and are attracted to each other, creating a sense of attachment, wanting to be reassured by each other’s pheromones, or to be marked.”
After saying this, he stopped talking, still leaving Chu Feng with only the back of his head.
Although it was just a few mindless words, Chu Feng instantly understood what Luo ZhouZhou meant and said, “Zhou Zhou, I am not attracted to her, nor am I interested in her pheromones.”
“Really?” Luo ZhouZhou still hadn’t turned around.
“Really.”
“Then why did you dance with her when you said you’d ask me for the first dance?” Luo ZhouZhou’s voice got louder and had an aggrieved nasal sound.
After a moment’s pause, Chu Feng said, “I’m sorry, Zhou Zhou, I broke my promise.”
Luo ZhouZhou pursed his lips, “Why did you break your promise?”
After a long time, Chu Feng sighed and said, “Zhou Zhou, there are reasons I can’t tell you, and you don’t have to understand the twists and turns of this. Just understand that I’m doing this tonight because I don’t want you to be in danger.”
“If it’s dangerous for me to dance with you, then why isn’t it dangerous for Qin Baozhu to dance with you?” Luo ZhouZhou’s quick thinking was unprecedented and he pressed on with his questions.
“Because a lot of people know that I have been rejecting Qin Baozhu, so they won’t think that she and I really have anything going on, so she is safe.” Chu Feng patiently replied.
After a few moments of silence, Luo ZhouZhou said with a straight face, “I don’t like you being with someone else.”
Chu Feng replied softly, “I know.”
“You will be attracted away by other people’s pheromones.”
“I won’t.” Chu Feng sighed.
“Then what do my pheromones smell like?”
Chu Feng thought about it, took out an orange candy from his pocket, peeled it off, stretched it out from behind Luo ZhouZhou’s neck to his face, and said, “Eat it.”
“No. You’re trying to change the subject.” Luo ZhouZhou pushed the hand in front of him away.
Chu Feng withdrew his hand, put the candy into his mouth, and said, “Your pheromones are the taste of orange candy.”
Luo ZhouZhou slowly turned around and asked, confused, “The flavor of orange candy?”
“Yes, it’s fragrant and sweet,” Chu Feng said.
Luo ZhouZhou held out his hand, “Then you give me one, I will taste it now.”
Chu Feng took out another one, peeled it off, and threw it into his mouth.
Luo ZhouZhou smacked his lips, tasted it and then put the ball of sugar to his cheek, and asked Chu Feng with his cheeks puffed out, “You are an Alpha, I am an Omega, I smelled your pheromones and liked them. So do you like mine?”
Chu Feng’s breath faltered, and when he met those clean eyes, he felt that he was unable to use his usual smoothness and tactics.
He didn’t want to, either.
He answered honestly, “I like it.”
Unexpectedly, Luo ZhouZhou sighed forlornly and said, “So you like my pheromones because you like orange candy.”
“Do you want to know why I like orange candy?” Chu Feng suddenly asked.
Luo ZhouZhou nodded his head, “I want to know.”
Chu Feng leaned back against the back of the bench and his hand, which had been placed behind Luo ZhouZhou’s back, had at some point wrapped around his shoulder.
However, Luo ZhouZhou didn’t notice this and just waited attentively for his next words.
Chu Feng said after a moment of pondering, “At that time, before my parents died, my mother always made a pot of cassava porridge 2 and the whole family ate that for the whole day. When I smelled it, I wanted to vomit. But every few days, my mother would give me some candy, and the orange flavor was the best. So I always liked orange candy.”
He turned to Luo ZhouZhou again, smiled, and said, “If your pheromones weren’t orange but tapioca, I’d like it regardless.”
Luo ZhouZhou avoided his gaze and looked toward the lake.
After a moment, Chu Feng asked, “What are you thinking about?”
“I’m glad I don’t smell like tapioca, but of orange, so you’ll be happier.” Luo ZhouZhou whispered.
Chu Feng wrapped his hand around his shoulder, patted it lightly and said, “I know.”
“When she danced, her purple dress was very pretty.” Luo ZhouZhou suddenly said.
“Hm?” Chu Feng didn’t respond.
Luo ZhouZhou continued, a little aggrieved, “When she danced with you, her skirt spun beautifully.”
“Did it really? I didn’t notice.” Chu Feng answered after thinking about it.
Luo ZhouZhou was flabbergasted, “You didn’t notice?
“Yes.” Chu Feng whispered, “I only saw you in your white outfit, standing there like a little prince, your whole body glowing.”
Luo ZhouZhou’s heart swelled up, and all his sadness and frustration flew away in an instant. He tried not to act too happy, but the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but turn upward.
“So why did you come out too?” He quickly turned his head to look at the lake and asked the question that concerned him most in a carefree tone.
Chu Feng glanced at him for a while, his eyes so gentle that they were dripping with water. “Because I saw you coming out, I hurriedly came out too.”
Luo ZhouZhou started kicking his feet up and down gently, “Did you come out to look for me?”
“Of course.” Chu Feng affirmed, “I’ve come specifically to find you.”
“Looking for me for what?”
Chu Feng didn’t answer, but got up and walked to him, stroked his right hand to his chest and saluted, then extended his hand, “Zhou Zhou, may I have this dance?”
Luo ZhouZhou was startled, slowly handed over his hand, and whispered, “Yes.”
On the lakeside lawn, Chu Feng grabbed him by the waist, then took one of his hands and took his first step to the music floating in the distance. Luo ZhouZhou’s dance steps were jerky, and he kept stepping on Chu Feng’s feet, saying sorry all the time.
Chu Feng leaned his head down and softly said, “You don’t have to apologize.”
“Why?”
“I can’t feel my feet anymore, and it can’t hear you even if you say it.”
Luo ZhouZhou scrambled to move his feet and stammered with a flushed face, “Did I step on you too much? Well, then, let’s stop dancing.”
“Shh. I don’t care if you step on me, so don’t make a sound and let’s keep dancing.” Chu Feng said in his ear.
The surface of the lake shone under the moonlight, and when reflected in Chu Feng’s eyes, it looked as if a handful of gold had been sprinkled on it. Suddenly Luo ZhouZhou was a little afraid to look at him, and turned his eyes elsewhere.
Their footsteps became slower and slower, and finally neither of them was in rhythm with the music, but just moved subconsciously in place.
Luo ZhouZhou felt that his heart was beating faster again. Not only because of Chu Feng’s tone of voice, but also because he was getting closer and closer.
He was so close that he could smell his faint perfume and his hot breath spraying on his face. He didn’t know what was going to happen next, but the strange atmosphere somehow made him nervous and filled him with anticipation.
“Close your eyes and don’t look at me like that,” Chu Feng whispered.
Luo ZhouZhou obediently closed his eyes.
First, he felt something soft and ticklish on his face, eyelashes, and eyelids.
He wanted to open his eyes, but remembered that Chu Feng wanted him to close them, so he kept them closed. Then, the soft touch slowly slid down his cheek, and against his nose.
He knew instantly what it was, shuddered like an electric shock hit him, and froze there.
Chu Feng’s lips slid down to Luo ZhouZhou’s, holding him still.
Realizing that Luo ZhouZhou was trembling slightly, Chu Feng vaguely said, “Don’t be nervous.”
After saying that, Chu Feng held Luo ZhouZhou’s neck with one hand, hugged his waist with the other, and gently touched their lips together with compassion and preciousness. 3
“Open your mouth.” He said.
Luo ZhouZhou obeyed the command and opened his mouth.
In an instant, Chu Feng’s tongue slipped into his mouth like a fish, gripped his, and began to toss and suck.
……
After a long time, Chu Feng let go of his lips and lifted his head, his arm still around his waist. Luo ZhouZhou’s entire body lost its strength, and he fell into Chu Feng’s arms, gasping for air with his eyes closed.
Chu Feng pecked him on the lips again and said in a soft voice, “You can open your eyes now.”
Luo ZhouZhou’s eyelashes fluttered a few times and he opened his eyes slowly. His face was flushed and red, like he was drunk, and his eyes were watery and moistened with a layer of mist.
Seeing him looking at him momentarily, Chu Feng whispered the question, “What’s wrong?”
Luo ZhouZhou licked his lips, tapped his feet and put them down again, saying in a vague way, “Do it again, one more time.”
