Luo ZhouZhou’s breath began to heat up and his body burned uncontrollably hot. A cold breeze blew across the stairs, bringing cold moisture with it, causing him to shiver again.
He didn’t know whether he was hot or cold, and curled up in a ball on the floor, tormented by the alternating sensations. He remembered his backpack, which always contained inhibitors, and shakily reached for it. When he felt nothing, he realized that he hadn’t brought his backpack with him when he left home at night.
With the heat raging and his body burning more and more, Luo ZhouZhou struggled to get up from the stairs.
Chu Feng had told him that inhibitors were available in pharmacies and supermarkets, and that there were inhibitor vending machines on every street. He had to get the suppressant before he lost consciousness.
He stood on the steps with his back arched, looking around, panting rapidly. It was too rainy and too dark to see in the distance, but about a hundred meters from the bank there was a row of small, red, lit-up boxes with small letters on them.
Intuition told Luo ZhouZhou that these should be vending machines for inhibitors. As he descended the steps, the cold rain poured down on him. But now he couldn’t feel the cold, and just wandered over to the lit-up box.
The distance, usually covered in an instant, had become very long. Each step forward took all his strength. His vision was blurred and his surroundings began to look distorted.
After bumping into a street lamp post, he stumbled and fell down onto the sidewalk, where he lay on the roadside. The rain had gathered together into a stream and was flowing down on both sides of the road. Luo ZhouZhou was lying in the water, but his mouth was open like a fish out of water, gasping for air.
Each breath was hard to exhale, and his blood churned even more furiously, bubbling up one hot bubble after another. He turned to look at the lit-up box, struggled to get up, tried several times, and fell back into the water.
He could only lie still, letting the rain and water wash over him.
“I’m a vampire, I’m an omnipotent vampire, and even if I turn into an Omega, I can still get through this.” He opened and closed his lips, and in a voice that only he could hear, he recited hoarsely.
Another heat wave hit him, and he spasmodically gripped the ground with his hands. It was as if lava was flowing through his body, slowly, searing every part of the flow, every cell burning with it.
“I’m a vampire, I’m… an omnipotent vampire, and even if… I turn into an Omega, I can… still get through this. ” He continued to repeat without stopping. “I am a… vampire, I am an… omnipotent… vampire…”
The words he was reciting seemed to bring him great courage and allowed him to hold on. After several times, his throat was so dry and sore that he could no longer make any sound, so he repeated it silently in his mind.
The space where Luo ZhouZhou was lying was already filled with a strong pheromone cloud. Most of it had been carried away by the heavy rain and the current, and didn’t spr. But even so, there were still strands of pheromones spreading out, drifting far away through the rain.
Someone nearby had already opened a window, peered out, and shouted, “Whose Omega is in heat? Can’t he get an inhibitor? What if something happens to the Alpha in my family who just became an adult?”
Luo ZhouZhou closed his eyes to catch his breath and slowly built up his strength. After enduring a wave of heat, in the short space of time, he struggled to roll over and climb onto the sidewalk.
Instead of trying to get up, he braced himself with his arms and crawled toward the lit-up box in front of him. After advancing more than ten meters, his body finally reached its limit, and he had no strength to even move his fingers.
Luo ZhouZhou looked up at the red lit-up box and desperately cried out the name in his heart, “Chu Feng, Chu Feng…”
At that moment, a bright light suddenly appeared in his blurred vision. The light was approaching fast, getting closer and closer, and at the same time there was the roar of a car.
Even though his willpower was on the verge of collapse, he struggled to move to the steps of the sidewalk to avoid being noticed by others. With the sound of brakes screeching in his ears, Luo ZhouZhou didn’t know where he got the strength to start climbing up the steps.
Only two steps up, he heard a familiar call, “Zhou Zhou!”
He stiffened and looked incredulously toward the sound. He saw a tall figure, running toward him against the light.
“Chu Feng!” Luo ZhouZhou cried out with all his strength, tears bubbling down his face. His voice was so hoarse that he couldn’t hear himself.
Chu Feng rushed a few meters towards Luo ZhouZhou, but suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Then he continued forward, arriving at the stairs, and sat down on his knees beside him, holding the young man in his embrace.
Luo ZhouZhou’s body began to spasm, his eyes stared blankly ahead, and his arms and legs dangled limply. The Omega, at this stage, will cause permanent damage to the gland if they weren’t marked or didn’t use an inhibitor.
Chu Feng held him with one hand, rested his head on his shoulder with the other, exposed the back of his neck, and then aimed at the location of the gland and bit down decisively.
A powerful Alpha pheromone rushed wildly into Luo ZhouZhou’s body.
Luo ZhouZhou cried out in a low voice at that moment, his body tensed and relaxed, and his whole body slumped into Chu Feng’s arms, then he slowly closed his eyes. After a few moments, Chu Feng lifted his head slightly and carefully licked the droplets of blood emerging from the back of his neck.
Only when the blood stopped seeping from there did he straighten up and embrace the man so tightly that he seemed like he wanted to become one with him.
A gust of wind blew, and a mist of rain flew up the steps. He shifted his position, shielded his back from the wind and rain, and buried his face in the top of Luo ZhouZhou’s hair, not moving.
Only after a few more moments did he gently place the man in his arms on the ground. Then he took off his uniform and put it under him. Even in a semi-conscious state of extreme exhaustion, Luo ZhouZhou noticed the loss of the heat source around him and moved his lips restlessly.
Chu Feng took his hand in his and leaned down to whisper in his ear, “I’ll be right back, just a few minutes, don’t be afraid.”
Luo ZhouZhou was reassured and sank back into unconsciousness.
Chu Feng straightened up, looked around, and when he saw the inhibitor vending machine a short distance away, he turned and rushed into the rain. A moment later, he rushed back with a syringe in his hand, rolled up Luo ZhouZhou’s sleeve, and bit off the cap of the syringe with his teeth, aiming it at his arm.
Throwing away the empty syringe, Chu Feng picked him up from the ground, wrapping him in his military uniform. Bowing his back, he shielded his upper body from the wind and rain, ran quickly to the side of the truck, and then carefully placed the man in the back seat.
As Luo ZhouZhou lay quiet and motionless, Chu Feng hurried back to the driver’s side and started the vehicle. As the rain streamed down the windshield, he reached for the windshield wipers, looked in the rearview mirror, and furrowed his eyebrows.
A few lights appeared in the rearview mirror, and two cars were coming in his direction, slowly stopping a hundred meters away from him. The two cars had been following him since he had first left the military airport. They had lost him in the middle of the road, but now they had found him again.
Chu Feng pulled out his gun, but put it back in the holster after thinking about it for a few seconds. He looked at the sleeping Luo ZhouZhou, then got out, opened the backseat door, pulled out the seatbelt, and looped it around him a few times to fasten him tightly.
He returned to the driver’s seat and restarted the vehicle. The military vehicle emitted a burst of exhaust fumes and slowly drove away from the place with white smoke in the rain and fog.
The two cars started up and followed behind. They were in no hurry, and always kept a hundred meters away from the military vehicle.
Chu Feng reached the corner of the street, stepped on the gas pedal, turned the steering wheel, and drove onto the right side of the road. A few seconds later the two black cars followed him into the right lane.
The street, usually blocked with traffic jams, was empty this time, except for the metal frames of a few stalls which hadn’t been removed and were stacked on the side of the road.
Chu Feng stepped on the gas pedal deeper and deeper, and the SUV increased its horsepower, crushing the water on the waterlogged street. The two cars behind him accelerated and followed closely, neither rushing to the front nor pulling away from him, brazenly chasing behind.
The three cars ignored the red light all the way down the empty street, driving at lightning speed.
“Warning, the violating vehicles, please move over immediately for inspection.” At some point, three automatic tracking violation aircrafts followed. They continued to emit mechanical electronic female noises, flashing with blinding red lights, and flew over the roofs of each of the three cars.
Chu Feng made a quick turn down two streets and drove onto a straight road. He pushed the gas pedal to the floor, and the off-road roared to life, pushing its speed to the limit.
This was the same road he had carried Luo ZhouZhou on his back the last time, and Chu Feng remembered that it was still under construction, not completely finished. He glanced at the circular roadblock sign, stared back ahead, and gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands.
He jerked the steering wheel to the right just as a row of conical barricades appeared ahead. The cross-country made an ear-splitting tire-rattling sound, drifted around, and went off to the right.
There was a temporary lane on the right, and Chu Feng let off the gas pedal as soon as he passed by. As soon as he was stabilized, he heard a loud bang behind him and a red light appeared in his rearview mirror.
He slowly stepped on the brakes and turned around to look back. He saw that both cars had crashed into the bags of cement piled up on the road and tumbled to the ground in front of him. The one on its side was on fire, and the other was upside down, with all four wheels still spinning.
The two ATVA had also each come to a stop.
“Warning, there has been a safety incident, please evacuate the vehicle’s occupants.”
Chu Feng looked at Luo ZhouZhou in the back seat again, and was relieved to see that he was tied up properly by the seat belt, hadn’t moved a bit, and was still sleeping soundly.
He released the brakes and continued driving down the temporary lane.
“Warning, the violating vehicle, please move over immediately for inspection.” The aircraft that had followed the off-road vehicle was still there, dutifully sending out repeated warnings.
Chu Feng traveled for another ten minutes and returned to the empty street. He pulled over to the side of the road, pushed open the door, quickly climbed onto the roof, and pressed the aircraft’s belly a few times.
The noisy, warning woman’s voice that had been all the way down the street came to a screeching halt, and then stopped, and all was instantly quiet.
He headed back to a stall not far away. There, in addition to the metal frame of the empty stall, was a pile of ropes the thickness of his fingers. He bent down and picked up the pile of ropes, and tugged on them to test it.
It worked.
A few moments later, the SUV started up and slowly drove away from the street.
On the side of the street, washed clean by the rain, an ATVA lay tied up with ropes. The other end of the rope was tied securely to the metal frame of the stall.
Chu Feng drove directly to a quiet street this time, stopped, and then opened the terminal to whisper a few words.
A moment later, in the small building next to the off-road, the shuttered door rattled and slowly rose, revealing a spacious and empty ground floor. Chu Feng drove his car directly into the ground floor, and the door slowly closed behind him.
Luo ZhouZhou was in a daze…
In his haze, Luo ZhouZhou heard someone talking in his ear. One voice was familiar and reassuring, while the other voice was unfamiliar, he seemed to have heard it somewhere before.
He no longer felt the painful burning sensation, but he was dazed and confused, and when he woke up a little, he instantly fell back into the darkness of unconsciousness. He had dream after dream of Linda’s teary eyes and Luo Pei in his robe, telling him through the car window to ‘Go.’.
“Chu Feng, Chu Feng,” Luo ZhouZhou uttered in an anguished whisper.
“I’m here, I’m right here. Zhou Zhou, I’m here.”
He heard Chu Feng’s voice, it felt like it was in his ears, while also feeling like it was coming from a distant place.
“Chu Feng…” He sobbed with his eyes closed in distress.
“I’m here, I’m sorry…” Chu Feng’s voice became clearer and clearer, pulling Luo ZhouZhou out of his stupor.
The moment he woke up, he heard his own sobs and felt hot lips pressing on the corner of his eyes. Luo ZhouZhou’s eyelashes fluttered a few times, then he slowly opened his eyes.
“Awake?” Chu Feng asked in a soft voice.
Luo ZhouZhou recognized the man in front of him. He looked at Chu Feng’s bloodshot eyes and his stubbled chin, and called out to him, “Chu Feng.”
The words came out so hoarse that he could barely hear them. He was about to ask Chu Feng why he looked like that when the images of last night flashed in his mind.
“I’m in heat, it’s so hot.” He deflated.
“I know, I know…” Chu Feng’s eyes reddened even more as he remembered the scene he saw last night when he got out of the car. He couldn’t imagine what would have happened if he had arrived a moment later.
“The General and the General’s wife were taken away, and something happened to Sheriff Chen as well, so I rushed back from the border, sorry for being late.” Chu Feng picked up his hand, brought it to his face and kissed it, then asked, “Is it still uncomfortable?”
“Not anymore,” Luo ZhouZhou replied, “After all, I’m a vampire, so I can still hold on while in heat.”
“Yes, Zhou Zhou is amazing,” Chu Feng said in a soft voice.
“Then how did you find me?”
“I installed a transmitter in your terminal before, and as soon as this happened, I cut off the signal from your terminal so that no one else but me could follow the signal to find you.”
“What about the General and the others and Sheriff Chen?” Luo ZhouZhou asked.
Chu Feng stroked the top of his head and whispered, “Don’t worry, the General and the others will be fine, and SiHan was only slightly injured.”
“Did the General do something wrong? Why did they take him? You all seem to know everything, but all of you are hiding it from me.” Luo ZhouZhou’s voice trembled, “Can you not hide it from me anymore?”
Chu Feng held his hand firmly and whispered, “I’ll tell you everything, and I’ll never hide anything from you again.”
“Then what exactly was the General arrested for?”
Chu Feng looked at him and answered, “Because of a vase.”
“A vase?” Luo ZhouZhou was puzzled.
He recalled the vases in his house, there seemed to be one in every room, and wondered how this was related to Luo Pei.
Chu Feng explained, “Under the pressure of the Olin Truth Church, Master Witch once made a glazed vase, the only one of its kind in the world. He overheard the conversation of those people and said that the vase was to be given to a high official of the Alliance, who was their insider. In order to facilitate contact, an encrypted terminal was embedded in the vase so that the signal would not be captured by the military.”
“Master Witch…” Luo ZhouZhou found the name familiar, and after thinking it over for a bit, he suddenly exclaimed, “I remember that vase.”
He sat up on the bed and said excitedly, “I was there when that vase was delivered to the house, and it was given to Madam by her sister-in-law. The General had never even touched the vase at all, and neither of them knew what encryption terminal was inside.”
Chu Feng said, “Madam’s sister-in-law confessed at the military headquarters that originally, the General had arranged for her to pick up the vase.”
“She’s lying, she sent it to our house by herself, and the General asked Madam to return it to her, saying that that person made him uneasy.” Luo ZhouZhou lifted the blanket and stood up, but his feet went limp, and he was hurriedly held by Chu Feng.
“We all know that the General must have been wrongly accused, lie down first.” Chu Feng quickly soothed.
Luo ZhouZhou sat down on the edge of the bed with a wrinkled brow and asked, “Why did Madam’s sister-in-law want to harm the General?”
Chu Feng looked at him for a moment and replied, “Because she was also working under someone’s instruction.”
“Under whose instruction?” Luo ZhouZhou pursed his lips tightly.
Chu Feng thought about it and replied, “I don’t have any evidence, so I can’t tell you. But you should know that the vase is just an excuse, and even without it, there are other excuses to arrest the General.”
Luo ZhouZhou was silent for a moment, before he said, “The only person who can arrest the General is President Calgar.” He lowered his voice, “Am I right?”
Chu Feng didn’t answer, and remained silent.
“Can you tell me why he wanted to arrest the General?” Luo ZhouZhou asked, “Can you tell me everything? I don’t want to experience something like that again and not know anything.”
Chu Feng looked at him intently and said, “I’ll tell you exactly what I know.”
