When Chu Feng saw that Luo ZhouZhou’s nose was still red and his eyes were watery, he opened his arms and asked, “Do you still want to cry? Come and cry in my arms for as long as you want.”
Luo ZhouZhou didn’t move, staring at him blankly.
“Well?” Chu Feng raised his eyebrows.
“I’m feeling it, my nose is a little sore, and I might still want to cry, but my heart isn’t feeling bad anymore.”
“That means you don’t want to cry,” Chu Feng answered him.
Luo ZhouZhou fell into his arms, hugged him around the waist and said, “I don’t want to cry, but I still want to hug you.” He rested his chin on Chu Feng’s shoulder, sniffled and relaxed, allowing Chu Feng to hold him and rock him gently.
After a few moments, Chu Feng suddenly asked, “Why don’t you say anything? Are you asleep?”
“Not asleep.”
“If you’re not asleep, how about we continue watching the General’s video?
“Okay.”
Chu Feng let go of him and released the pause button.
Luo Pei said solemnly on the screen, “Zhou Zhou, it will be hard for you to hear these words from your father, but you have always been a strong boy, and I believe you will soon come to your senses. Dad promises you that one day you will be free, and then you will get your mom, and we will be reunited as a family again.”
“We will be reunited.” Luo ZhouZhou replied to the screen.
After finishing this part, Luo Pei drained the last sip of coffee from the bottom of his cup and leaned back against the couch.
The screen flashed a few times, and the video ended.
Luo ZhouZhou waited a little longer and asked, “Is that all?
“No more.”
“Wait a little longer, will you, in case there’s more?”
“The display has bottomed out.”
Chu Feng removed the memory card from the terminal, took Luo ZhouZhou’s right hand, placed it in his palm, and closed it.
“Keep it safe, and when you get home, I’ll make you a locker for your own things,” Chu Feng said.
Luo ZhouZhou nodded and carefully put the memory card into his inner pocket.
Chu Feng took out another memory card, shook it at Luo ZhouZhou, and said, “Let’s see what’s in this one.”
A few seconds later, the three-dimensional display showed a picture.
It was in a driveway, and the trees on both sides were receding so fast that they didn’t look like they were inside a car, and a black roof appeared at the bottom of the picture.
Luo ZhouZhou was about to ask where it was taken when he heard a familiar mechanical female voice.
“Warning! You are seriously speeding, please pull over the offending vehicle for inspection.”
Turned out it was the image taken by the illegal flight tracker, so no wonder a car’s roof appeared below.
There was also a time in the lower right corner of the video, which read 457/5/23.
Chu Feng saw the line of numbers, sat up straight, and said to Luo ZhouZhou, “It’s the end of the empire.”
The driveway looked like a country road, a bit rough and bumpy. The black sedan, however, was speeding along, bouncing along in these conditions. After a minute or two, a fork in the road appeared next to it, the vehicle turned into it, and the aircraft dutifully followed it.
The vehicle came to a sudden stop, and someone opened the door and got out. It was a man in a dark red robe, who looked like a priest.
When he turned around, Luo ZhouZhou saw a dark purple crest in the shape of a flame on his right breast.
“Purple emblem, he is the archdeacon of the Truth Church.” Chu Feng looked at the image and told Luo ZhouZhou, “May 23rd was the day the archbishop was arrested, so this must’ve been taken when the archdeacon was on his way to escape.”
The archdeacon disappeared from the picture for a few seconds, and then his enlarged face reappeared in the shot. He had climbed onto the roof of the car and had his hands outstretched, supposedly to turn off this flying machine.
“Warning! You have exceeded the speed limit by a significant amount. Please pull over to the side of the road for inspection.”
The archdeacon, apparently at a loss for words, tilted his head and worked hard on the aircraft, the warning tone still repeating itself. At that moment, the backseat door opened and a man in a black cloak stepped out.
The wide cloak wrapped him from head to toe, wrapping him tightly.
“What’s going on?” He was asking the archdeacon. It wasn’t loud, and the aircraft alarm woman had been making a lot of noise, so it was a little hard to hear the accent.
The archdeacon looked down at him and said apprehensively, “I’m sorry, I don’t know how to do this.”
“Let me do it.”
In the shot, the cloaked man also climbed onto the roof of the car, and although he was facing toward the camera, his face was covered with a dark veil out of caution.
He reached his hand out and fiddled with the aircraft, revealing the dark red robe beneath his cloak in the process. When he was finally done, the warning sound no longer played in the image, and he pulled the aircraft into his arms and held it tightly.
The camera was pointed at his chest, and in the gaps in the black cloak, it clearly illuminated the golden flame that represented his identity on his right breast.
“The Holy Son of Truth.”
Although he had already guessed it, Chu Feng’s heart was still shocked when he saw the scene with his own eyes.
The line of sight suddenly became lower, and the aircraft seemed to be placed on the ground. The archdeacon left the scene for a few minutes and then appeared again, holding a large stone in his arms, and came over and raised it above his head.
Bang! Bang!
The screen trembled and a white noise appeared.
In the final seconds of the complete black screen, a wind blew. The Holy Son, standing at the right rear, had the black veil blown off his face, revealing a young face underneath.
The face was so familiar, Luo ZhouZhou had often seen it on TV, only, it looked much younger.
“President Calgar…” he muttered.
The cabin was silent, and the three-dimensional display was black.
“Why does the Holy Son of Truth look exactly like President Calgar?” Luo ZhouZhou asked in confusion.
As soon as the words came out of his mouth, he reacted with wide eyes and looked at Chu Feng in dismay, “Is the Holy Son Calgar?”
Chu Feng nodded his head slowly.
“Ah! Then he’s awesome!” Luo ZhouZhou lost his voice. After saying that he felt wrong again, he struggled to explain, “I’m not saying that he’s great, the kind of greatness that makes him great, is not the kind of greatness that makes you great—”
“I know, you’re trying to say he’s hiding too deep and too sneaky.”
“Yes, yes, yes, that’s what I mean. Ah, you’re great.” Luo ZhouZhou patted the seat beneath him and said, “Then we can get this, we can expose Calgar and get the General out.”
Chu Feng shook his head, “Not enough.”
“Not enough?”
“Calgar could just say that the man in here just looks like him.”
“But it is him.”
Chu Feng sighed and said, “Zhou Zhou, we know he is, but we need something else for evidence.”
Luo ZhouZhou asked again, “How did the General get these videos?”
Chu Feng explained, “The unauthorized aircraft was smashed, but the information from the camera was sent to the database. At that time, the Empire was about to be overthrown, so no one would bother with the sealed off information. The military department would clean up the old videos, and General Luo, who is in charge of security for communications and information, probably found this.”
“We will have this—” Before Luo ZhouZhou could finish his sentence, the screen lit up again.
This time the background looked like an office, forty square meters in size. It had a large desk and filing cabinets, and there was an optical computer on the desk.
The angle of the video was taken from the top of the wall on the left, looking down.
There was a hand, moving away from the switch on the wall.
“It turns out that the black screen wasn’t the end of the video, but that the light was not on.” Luo ZhouZhou looked at Chu Feng incredulously. “We almost turned it off.”
The owner of the hand appeared on the screen, a strange officer, about forty years old, with the rank of colonel on his shoulder.
“Look, there’s my picture there.” Luo ZhouZhou said suddenly, pointing to the photo frame on the bookcase.
The picture was of Linda holding a two- or three-year-old boy. The boy had a bib around his chest, his mouth was full of chocolate sauce, and he was sucking his finger with his round eyes open.
Chu Feng quirked the corner of his mouth up and said, “Well, this must be your father’s old office.”
The officer looked around the room, walked straight to the desk, took out a small card and inserted it into his optical brain, and the display popped up instantly. At the same time, the hidden camera in the upper left corner also sensed it and automatically zoomed in on the screen, so that he could clearly see what was on the display.
After the officer entered some information on the light brain, a form appeared, at the top of which was a row of eye-catching black letters, that read Citizen Information Sheet.
“This is an information sheet containing all the information about the citizens of the Alliance.” Chu Feng explained in a small voice.
“Oh, do I have one too?”
“We all have them.”
“Would mine note that I’m a bit unusual, maybe a vampire, or something like that?”
“That’s not going to happen, it only has your DNA and pheromone records.”
“I see, I see.” Luo ZhouZhou’s tone was tinged with regret.
The camera continued to zoom in, and the high-definition display shoeds even the small lines of the form.
Name: Edie Adam (Missing in 442)
Date of Birth: 437 / July / 3.
……
Before the rest of the message could be read, the colonel clicked on Delete Permanently, and the form disappeared from the display.
Chu Feng tapped Playback, freezing the screen at the form’s information.
“Do you know Edie Adam? Adam? Who is he?” Luo ZhouZhou asked curiously.
Chu Feng’s eyes glittered, as if he was excited.
He sneered and said, “Edie Adam was Calgar’s original name, and the Holy Son of the Truth Church. If I am not mistaken, Edie killed his twin brother, replaced Calgar himself, and started to run for president after the change.”
“Ah… so complicated, then he’s really too harsh— sinister.”
“Yes.”
In the video, the colonel officer was typing quickly again, and the display switched to another citizen information sheet. The camera automatically adjusted so that the small print underneath was clearly in view.
Name: Calgar Adam
Date of Birth: 437 / July / 3.
Differentiated Sex: Male Alpha
……
“Look, Calgar’s info sheet.” Luo ZhouZhou pointed at the screen and shouted.
Chu Feng moved his finger, a hint of excitement in his tone, “Sure enough, he’s going to replace the information sheet.”
There seemed to be some movement outside, and the officer stopped, staring sideways to listen. Then, he quickly turned off the light and the lamp and hid under his desk. The moment he was hidden, the door was flung open and the light came on.
“Dad.” Luo ZhouZhou shouted softly as he watched someone enter the doorway.
Luo Pei, who seemed to be returning to his office to get something, rummaged for a moment in the filing cabinet against the wall, took out a folder, and put it in his carry-on purse.
As Luo Pei rummaged through the files, he slowly pulled out a gun and held it in his hand.
Although Luo ZhouZhou knew Luo Pei was fine, he was still nervous and his heart was pounding when he saw this.
Chu Feng took him by the shoulders, patted him and said, “Don’t be afraid.”
“I’m not afraid, it’s just that my heart will beat by itself, but I’m not really afraid.”
“Mn, I know.”
Luo Pei found the file, turned to go out, and stopped abruptly when his eyes glanced at the desk. The man under the desk reached out with his other hand and gripped the gun with both hands.
One second, two seconds, three seconds.
Luo Pei didn’t move, and neither did the person under the desk.
Just as Luo ZhouZhou couldn’t help but grip Chu Feng’s arm, Luo Pei suddenly strode toward the door. He simply pulled open the door and walked straight out without turning off the lights. Just as he turned to close the door, his eyes skimmed over the hidden monitor in the upper left corner.
Luo ZhouZhou breathed a sigh of relief as the door closed with a muffled sound.
Chu Feng narrowed his eyes and rubbed his fingers through his soft hair, “General Luo Pei has really acted prudently.”
Luo ZhouZhou asked a bit happily, “Like an old fox?”
Chu Feng paused and said vaguely, “Yes.”
As the screen continued, the man hiding under the desk, emerged after waiting a little longer. He quickly turned on his optical brain and continued the unfinished operations. Calgar’s profile appeared again on the display, and he went through it line-by-line, changing the DNA information and the pheromone information.
When he was finished, the officer checked again, then shut down his light brain and dialed on his terminal.
“…have changed everything… I know, I turned off all the surveillance before I went into the information bank… understand, don’t worry…”
The floating screen in the cross-country went black, indicating that the video had been played.
Chu Feng pulled back to make sure there was no more video. After two seconds of thought, he called someone on the terminal in his hand.
“SiHan, I have a small gift for you.”
“What gift?”
“You’ll understand if you accept it, and then wait for my arrangement.”
Luo ZhouZhou watched as Chu Feng tapped send to send the video that had started the specific section to Chen SiHan.
“Now then, with this evidence from my father, can you expose Calgar?” He asked.
“Yes.” Chu Feng smiled and rubbed his head. “Calgar didn’t realize that General Luo, who has been cautious all his life, had secretly installed another surveillance device, not on the same line as the one installed by the military department, after dividing the information security of the communications.”
“Then how did Calgar find this in the General’s possession?”
Chu Feng pondered for a moment and said, “I succeeded General Chanson, who was a good friend of your father’s before he died, and had a good relationship with Qi Fen. But a few years ago, shortly after the death of the Special Forces soldiers in Bavo church, he had to hold a press conference to announce a major event, and was killed in a car accident on the road.”
“And then what happened?”
“If this thing is connected, it’s that your dad knew Calgar’s secret but didn’t dare to publish it. It wasn’t until after the Bavo church incident that he showed the video to Chanson. Chanson was ready to go public, and when Calgar found out, he caused a car accident and killed him. Your father hid the evidence after that, but Calgar would investigate later and know that the evidence was in his hands.”
Luo ZhouZhou made a quiet sound and began to look out of the car window.
Chu Feng asked, “What are you thinking about? With such a serious face.”
“I’m thinking about Calgar, since he’s the Holy Son, he’s been dealing with the Truth Church all these years, just for show, right?”
Chu Feng said, “Yes, the Truth Church can never be extinguished, it is becoming more and more rampant, and it can even fight against the Alliance army in the border areas.”
“So what are you going to do now?” Luo ZhouZhou asked.
Chu Feng didn’t say anything and pressed the player.
The anchorwoman’s soft voice sounded in the car.
“…In three hours, His Excellency Calgar, who is the most vocal in this election, is going to make his coalition-wide speech. According to public opinion polls, he has a great hope of being re-elected…”
Before he finished listening, Chu Feng snapped the player shut, opened the terminal again, and quickly entered the message.
“Chu Feng, do we go back now to catch Calgar?” Luo ZhouZhou asked.
Chu Feng continued to type without raising his head and only looked at him after he had successfully sent the message. His eyes were shining and he didn’t say a word, and the look in his eyes made Luo ZhouZhou’s heart furious.
“Chu Feng, say something.” He urged.
Chu Feng grabbed Luo ZhouZhou in his arms, kissed him on the cheek, saying excitedly, “Let’s go, it’s not too late, just don’t get held up halfway.”
Luo ZhouZhou pulled his head out of his hands and said against his unruly hair, “If they come to slow us down, I’ll kill them all.”
Chu Feng hissed as if his teeth hurt, patted him on the head and said, “Don’t think about killing people all day long.”
“Oh.”
“Oh what ‘oh’? Remember, if you can’t kill, don’t kill.”
“Then can I kill what I can kill?”
“It depends on the situation.”
“Okay.”
