The Legendary Master’s Wife - Chap 17
Chapter 17: First Time in the Limelight
You XiaoMo felt embarrassed from being stared at. After some hesitation, he asked, “May I ask if something’s wrong?”
Immediately, everyone came back to their senses. Other than Wu-Shixiong, the other disciples wrinkled their brows. The relatively expressionless Wu-Shixiong finally revealed a slight smile and nodded at him, “There’s nothing wrong. You did pretty well. Successfully dividing the soul force on the first try, like how Da Shixiong did during his time.”
These words were unmistakably words of praise. The other disciples were immediately shocked. Wu-Shixiong actually compared him to Da Shixiong. This clearly meant that his ability to control his soul force must be quite extraordinary. Then thinking of how they failed after several tries, their faces turned quite unsightly. Their inborn talent was about the same as that of You XiaoMo. Other than the the lowest among them who had a y ellow aura, the other three were green. But now they had been bested by the youngest disciple. Furthermore, it was the one they disliked, leaving them suddenly feeling dissatisfied.
You XiaoMo didn’t think much about it. After being praised by Wu-Shixiong, he laughed a little in embarrassment. You XiaoMo really didn’t want to stand out. How would he know that he would succeed on his first attempt? If he had known it would be like this, he would have simply failed a few times to avoid this. Actually, he was aware that these four disciples didn’t really like him. But he just didn’t want to invite trouble, so he had always pretended to be clueless. Now that he had outshone them, and it looked like there would be a chip added on their shoulders!
Wu-Shixiong did not let him practice something else just because he succeeded. After a word of praise, he let them continue practicing. You XiaoMo also didn’t want to stand out too much, so he continued to practice dividing the soul force. But it was really dull repeating the same thing over and over again so a question started to form in his head. Could the soul force be divided into four?
Thinking of this, You XiaoMo secretly looked at the other disciples. They were all completely absorbed. Wu-Shixiong was also not looking his way. But, he still needed to be careful. He didn’t dare to do it in the open. But if he did it in the cauldron, it should be fine. You XiaoMo observed the situation for a bit and only started when he was certain that he wouldn’t be found out.
First, he divided his soul force into three. Then he dropped them into the cauldron. Once they reached the bottom, he quietly divided each further into another three, and let them run around in the cauldron. Over here to t his opening, then over there to that opening, even to the extent of tying them in knots. In order to challenge himself, You XiaoMo decided to tie a bow.
Just when he was playing to his heart’s content, the other disciples finally succeeded. When You XiaoMo looked over at them, they all look tired out and were sweating profusely. On the point of collapse, they looked spiritless, as if they had used up too much of their energy. Wu- Shixiong didn’t allow them to strain themselves further, ordering them to stop and rest.
You XiaoMo quietly retrieved his line of sight. Looking down at the soul force bow in his cauldron, he suddenly felt like he he did something he shouldn’t have . He really didn’t mean to be so exceptional. He didn’t understand why the other four disciples were so dead tired just from dividing their soul force. He himself was still full of vigor.
In order not to appear strong willed, You XiaoMo recalled his soul force and then sat on the floor like the rest of them. Unexpectedly, Li-shixiong at his side huffs in contempt. You XiaoMo looked up in surprise and saw the raging flames of anger in Chen-shixiong’s eyes. Although it was not terribly obvious, it definitely wouldn’t go unnoticed. What could this be about?
How could he know that although he didn’t wish to stand out, anyone with eyes could see that he was not the tiniest bit tired. But he still sat down with them to take a break, as if poking fun at them. How could the four disciples not be furious! On the inside, You XiaoMo’s face was covered in tears. He really didn’t know what he had done to offend them.
At this point, Wu-Shixiong who had just gone out came back inside. He headed straight for You XiaoMo with something in his hands.
“These are level one magic herbs. You can all start to practice dissolving them.”
Saying this, he placed the magic herbs on the wooden tables. Six types all together, twenty stalks for each type. Other than him, the other disciples also received their share but they were only given three types. One could well imagine the other four disciples adding one more chip on their shoulders.
You XiaoMo turned his head and quietly shed tears. Wu-Shixiong, are you trying to make me even more hated?
