The Legendary Master’s Wife - Chap 57
Chapter 57: Mistakenly Touched
Ling Xiao didn’t bother with Tang YunQi , who was looking at him expectantly, and simply walked up to You XiaoMo.
You XiaoMo saw that he wasn’t saying anything while continuing to look at him and Da Shixiong. He hesitated before laughing uncomfortably and asking cautiously, “Ling-shixiong, why are you here?”
“What’s the matter? Am I being a bother to your tender and loving time with your Da Shixiong?” Ling Xiao raised his brow slightly.
Seeing his expression, You XiaoMo knew that he was angry but he didn’t know why. So he could only explain, “No, you misunderstood. Because it was my first time here, Da Shixiong is taking me around to familiarize myself with the surroundings.”
“Xiao Shidi.” Ling Xiao suddenly smiled, walked over and intimately draped his arm over his shoulder.
You XiaoMo felt a little terrified, surreptitiously glancing at Ling Xiao’s arm that was draped over his shoulder. What was he up to?
Ling Xiao looked at him and said warmly, “Next time you feel like taking a walk, tell me beforehand. Da Shixiong will personally go with you. It doesn’t matter where you want to go, understand?”
You XiaoMo immediately nodded his head like a chick pecking rice. That last word was said in a threatening tone. If he were to shake his head, it would be tantamount to seeking his own death.
Ling Xiao nodded in satisfaction, having no intention of removing the arm from his shoulder.
At this time, everyone was already shocked speechless by their intimate actions. It seemed Lin Xiao-shixiong had never been so close to anyone before. Not even with his own disciples. What more , it was a disciple from Capital Peak.
Before this, some had thought that the rumors were partly false. But now, seeing it with their own eyes, the reality was even more extreme than the rumors.
The ones who suffered the biggest shock were not the people from Heaven Peak , but rather the few disciples who came with Ling Xiao. Each one of their jaws fell to the ground, looking at this scene unfolding in front of their eyes with horror.
“Da Shixiong. This Shidi , can it be Capital Peak’s Kong-shishu’s newest seventh disciple, You XiaoMo?” A young man stepped out from the crowd. It was Zhou Peng-shidi whom Ling Xiao met after returning to the Tian Xin Sect. The one who had absolute trust in Lin Xiao.
As for the rumors about Da Shixiong and You XiaoMo, Zhou Peng had heard a little about it. He was worried that the latter got closer to Da Shixiong harboring ulterior motives , so he sent people to look into it. Later, when he found out that he was only a probationary disciple, he figured that this person probably wouldn’t be able to stir up great winds or huge waves so he simply put it aside. Right up to the time he heard news about his being accepted as Kong-shishu’s disciple.
Being accepted as the disciple by one of the three great mages of the Tian Xin Sect for no rhyme or reason, Zhou Peng felt that this You XiaoMo was most probably not an ordinary person. This roused his suspicions again, so he asked around about him. But all the information he received was related to Da Shixiong. Thus , Zhou Peng realized that the way Da Shixiong treated him was not as simple as he imagined.
Seeing that one speaking was Zhou Peng, Ling Xiao smiled, “Such a rare meeting, let me introduce all of you.”
The other two Shidis couldn’t help looking at each other. Da Shixiong was actually introducing him to them. Looked like he really thought a lot of You XiaoMo.
Ling Xiao pulled You XiaoMo to his front and held him from behind. He pointed to Zhou Peng and the others saying, “These are all my Shidis. From right to left is Zhou Peng, Qin ShiYu, and Luo Xia. You can just call them Shixiong.”
“Zhou-shixiong, Qin-shixiong, Luo-shixiong, pleased to meet you!” You XiaoMo greeted them somewhat stiffly.
“Very pleased to make your acquaintance, You-shidi!” Zhou Peng and the others replied one after the other with no hint of contempt.
This brotherly scene seemed to stab the eyes of Tang YunQi. Seeing Da Shixiong intimately hug You XiaoMo with her own eyes, she was jealous to the point of losing her mind. She still couldn’t understand what it was that You XiaoMo had to make Da Shixiong suddenly give him such special treatment.
Not wanting to stay any longer and be further humiliated, Tang YunQi glared hatefully at the uneasy You XiaoMo before turning around and running out of the South Side.
You XiaoMo’s smile was now fixed stiffly on his face. He thought about the overlooked Fang ChenYue standing at his side.
Zhou Peng and the others had long ago heard of Fang ChenYue since he was Capital Peak’s Elder disciple. They also met him last year during the grand annual friendly competition. But they only exchanged a few words since the ones working with them had always been the people from Heaven Peak.
After exchanging a few words of greetings, Ling Xiao left behind a ‘I’ll come look for you tomorrow’ before leaving with his three Shidis.
Seeing them walk further into the South Side, Fang ChenYue withdrew his pensive gaze and looked over to You XiaoMo. The latter was right in the act of wiping the sweat of his brow, he seemed to be very relieved, causing him to raise his brow.
“Xiao Shidi … ”
“Da Shixiong. Xiao Shidi.” A monotone voice came from the front, cutting off what Fang ChenYue wanted to say.
The two of them turned around and saw Fu ZiLin was standing just outside the South Side gate. Tall and handsome , but wrapped in cold detachment like wintry ice that remained unchanged throughout the year.
Fang ChenYue knew that this was not a chance encounter. He was eighty percent sure that Fu ZiLin was looking for them, and probably for some urgent matter. If not, with his nature, he wouldn’t leave the room of his own accord without someone urging him.
Talking while walking, Fang ChenYue found out that it was Zhao-shishu that was looking for him, thus reminding him of something.
Most probably Zhao-shishu wanted to discuss tomorrow’s arrangements. Since there were many more disciples in the Warrior Division than the Mage Division, and also because all five Warrior Division lineages would be taking part, the mages must be evenly assigned beforehand to avoid chaos when the time came.
You XiaoMo thought that this had nothing to do with him so he was about to take his leave when he heard Da Shixiong say, ‘You will come along’.
There were five lineages in the Warrior Division, with the Central Lineage being the strongest. The Central Lineage was different from the other four lineages. The younger generation with the highest strength are brought into the Central Lineage. They are the cream of the crop chosen from the East, South, West, and North Lineages. Ling Xiao was from the Central Lineage, and also was the Central Lineage’s strongest ‘disciple’. Zhou Peng and the other two were also the same.
But the competition for the Central Lineage was different from the other four lineages. Since their strength was too high, the Central Lineage competition was separate from that of the other four lineages.
What Zhao-shishu wanted to discuss involved the Central Lineage. The disciples of the Central Lineage were the core disciples of the Tian Xin Sect. Each of them was a rare talent. the Tian Xin Sect was also prepared to nurture them wholeheartedly. So, their future status in the Tian Xin Sect would definitely be higher that the other four lineages.
But because they were the core disciples, information about them could not be leaked out. So , the assigned mages must be discreet.
Zhao Zhen’s suggestion was to send Fang ChenYue and Fu ZiLin. They were the most senior, with spotless backgrounds, so they were the best choice.
Unexpectedly the first one to object was Fang ChenYue. On top of that, he wanted to send You XiaoMo and Fu ZiLin together. This surprised not only Zhao Zhen. Even You XiaoMo felt that he was hearing things.
Zhao Zhen expected the first one to object to be Fu ZiLin, “Why?”
“Shishu, ChenYue as the Da Shixiong has the duty to look after the other disciples. If I were to go with Second Shixiong, and something unexpected happened, you also won’t be there, so what would happen? Of course, it is not that I don’t trust Fourth Shijie , but I’m afraid she won’t be able to cope by herself.”
“But, your Seventh Shidi just entered the sect two months ago.” Zhao Zhen knew that what he said was not wrong but he still had one doubt.
Fang ChenYue had long ago thought about this issue, “Shishu, if you are worried, you can let Seventh Shidi take a vow.”
Zhao Zhen looked at the determined Fang ChenYue, and then looked at the shocked You XiaoMo, before finally sighing while nodding, “Alright, let’s do it like you suggested, but … ”
“Don’t worry , Shishu. If something happens, I will bear the responsibility myself.”
Hearing his last word, Fang ChenYue knew what he wanted to say. Without the slightest hesitation , he took on the responsibility.
Leaving Zhao Zhen’s room, on the way back, You XiaoMo finally couldn’t take it any longer and asked the question in his heart, “Da Shixiong, why did you recommend that I go?”
“You seemed to have a good relationship with Lin Xiao. But you seemed to be afraid of him?”
Fang ChenYue didn’t give him a real answer, instead asking him one in return.
“Uh, it was not really like that … ” You XiaoMo had no way of explaining the reasons behind it.
Fang ChenYue didn’t pressure him further, just saying, “Tang YunQi is someone who would seek revenge over an angry look. This time, you have insulted her. She will definitely plan to hurt you from the shadows. Zhao-shishu and I can ‘t always be looking after you but it is different for Lin Xiao. His standing is even stronger than Tang YunQi ’s . With you right under his eyes, one would think that even Tang YunQi won’t dare to go overboard.”
“So Da Shixiong did that for me?” You XiaoMo looked wide-eyed at Fang ChenYue.
Da Shixiong actually gave up this great opportunity of his own accord for him. Such magnanimity, such sense of brotherhood, it really made him feel very touched.
“Of course not.” Seeing his face brimming with emotion, Fang ChenYue could guess what he was thinking. He laughed aloud. This Xiao Shidi was really too naive, “What I just said to Zhao-shishu is the truth. Before we set out, Shifu urged me to take good care of the group of disciples. So, even if you’re not here, I would also suggest someone else.”
You XiaoMo immediately made a 囧 face . Fine, it seemed he did read too much into it.
