The Legendary Master’s Wife - Chap 7
Chapter 7: Blue Birthmark
Capital Peak had a lot of rooms, slightly bigger than where You XiaoMo was before. However, the furnishings were just as simple as the one before, except for an additional simple screen, behind which was a very big wooden tub. The screen was placed facing the door, blocking the view of others.
You XiaoMo moved in that very day. He had very few things, only two sets of clothes and four books. He didn’t intend to return the books immediately to the library. Last night, in order to deal with the situation, he read without understanding everything, stuffing all the contents into his brain. He still had n’t had the time to digest them, already failing to remember some of it clearly. Furthermore, the loan period of the library typically had a limit of half a month.
You XiaoMo put his clothes and books in the wardrobe before starting to clean the room. Most likely no one had lived in this room before, and nobody came over to clean it regularly. So the floor, table, chair, and bed were all coated in a layer of dust.
You XiaoMo touched the surfaces with his finger, the layer of dust was really quite thick. There was a wooden washbasin in the room, so You XiaoMo used it to fetch clean water from outside, taking an hour to clean up the room. By the time he was finished, the sun had already set behind the mountain.
Not long after, Li -Xiong came over to get him and the other new recruits for dinner. Capital Peak had a dedicated canteen, three meals a day. A lot of the disciples would head over here to have their meals. However, there were also those who were in their breatharian period , not needing to come over for meals.
The dishes were set up like a modern day buffet. Each of the three meals was cooked beforehand by the cook, and placed in large pots. The disciples then took whatever they wished to eat. But , in order to avoid wasting food, one of the rules of the canteen was that one could only take however much they could eat. Any evidence of wasting food would be met with punishment.
You XiaoMo followed Li-xiong to pick up a food tray. He didn’t have a big appetite, so he scooped up less food. Just when he was about to start eating, a small commotion came from the entrance. You XiaoMo raised his head and looked over. Looked like Da Shixiong Fang ChenYue had arrived. His arrival was immediately met with greetings from a lot of people. It was evident that he was quite popular in Capital Peak, maybe only second to the Shifu.
After dinner, You XiaoMo returned to his room. Remembering that he had yet to take a bath, he took out a set of clothes from the wardrobe and placed them on a small stool beside the wooden tub. There was actually a hot spring in the Tian Xin Sect ; however , it was quite far away. Therefore , most people would bring back hot water to their rooms to bathe.
During the day, Li-xiong brought them to the place for hot water, so You XiaoMo knew the way. Going back and forth five times, You XiaoMo finally filled the tub. You XiaoMo wiped the sweat off his brow, closed the door, took off his clothes and slipped into the water. The water temperature was just right, wrapping around his body, making him feel drowsy. You XiaoMo struggled to stay awake, using the towel to wash his hands and legs once over.
Just when he wasn’t paying attention, something similar to a birthmark slowly emerged on his chest that had been soaking in the water. Like a blue tear drop. The color became brighter and brighter. You XiaoMo suddenly felt his chest turn very hot.
Looking down, he couldn’t help but be dumbfounded. When did this birthmark appear on his chest? Furthermore, it was blue. Very strange. Looking at the bright drop, it seemed as if it was about to drip out of his chest, he couldn’t help touching it with his hand.
Two breaths later, You XiaoMo , who should be taking a bath, suddenly disappeared. A few ripples floated across the surface of the steaming water, slowly fading away, as if You XiaoMo was never there. The whole room was cloaked in silence.
t/n: Breatharianism: The idea of being able to live without physical food to sustain the body, Breatharianism is not fasting: though it could be seen as the fast that never ends. Even so, Breatharianism is also called ‘inedia’, from the Latin meaning fasting . Meanwhile, fasting has a defined period.
