The Legendary Master’s Wife - Chap 87
Chapter 87: Kong Wen’s Aim
When they returned to Capital Peak, You XiaoMo immediately came back to life, seizing Ling Xiao’s collar and asking non-stop if what just happened wasn’t just him dreaming, bothering Ling Xiao until he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. In the end, he rapped him a few times on the head, making him come back to his senses.
You XiaoMo covered his head as he exclaimed happily, “You’re hitting my head so I’m obviously not dreaming.”
Ling Xiao ground his teeth. Obviously this blockhead was asking for a beating. If he had known earlier, he would have rapped him a few more times.
When he calmed down from all the excitement, You XiaoMo finally realized that he was being carried in Ling Xiao’s arms. What was most vexing was that Ling Xiao was using the princess hold. So Ling Xiao carried him from Yun Shui Peak back to Capital Peak?
Ling Xiao understood the look on his face. He bared his teeth as he smiled, “Congratulations. You’ve guessed correctly. Just now, a lot of people witnessed me carrying you back. So let me congratulate you again. You’ve become famous yet again.”
“No~~~~~~~” You XiaoMo’s miserable shriek reverberated across the whole Capital Peak in a split second.
Ling Xiao really wasn’t lying. When he carried him back, a lot of people saw them, and not just disciples from Capital Peak. There were already a lot of people waiting to see who he would give the three stalks of magic herbs to. After finding out that he was bringing You XiaoMo to Yun Shui Peak today, they could already guess the outcome , yet there was still a lot of people who refused to believe it right up to the last moment.
And so, one spread to ten, ten spread to a hundred, a hundred spread to a thousand. As a result, it was not just the Mage Division that knew. It even swept across the Warrior Division being spread by winds of nosiness. So when You XiaoMo was hiding in his room, there was already a lot of people talking about this matter.
So by now, You XiaoMo was finally, firmly tied to this boat of Ling Xiao, never to be separated.
Not long after Ling Xiao left, You XiaoMo was once again summoned by Kong Wen.
This time it was not just a shifu and a disciple having a chat. Rather, it was held at Capital Peak’s Assembly Hall. Besides the five Shixiongs and NanGong Ying-shijie, and Zhao-shishu, there were also two shishus that You XiaoMo didn’t recognize.
You XiaoMo walked in trembling in fear. This lineup made him feel as if he was facing the severity of the combined judgement of three courts. He was only a small fry , nothing more.
“Disciple greets Shifu.”
“Young Seven, do you know why Shifu called you over?” Kong Wen’s pair of shining eyes fell on him with an expression of utmost seriousness. As if what he was going to say next was something extremely important.
You XiaoMo thought and thought but he really wasn’t clear. So he played it safe and shook his head, “Disciple doesn’t know. Shifu , please clarify.”
Kong Wen suddenly wrapped his five fingers on the armrest. After a moment of silence, he said, “Shifu heard that Yun Shui Peak’s Ye-shishu wants to take you as an apprentice. Is this true?”
You XiaoMo’s eyes opened wide. This seemed to have just happened two hours ago. He didn’t expect it to get around so fast. He thought that Shifu called him over because of the three stalks of level six magic herbs, or because of Ling Xiao’s strange behavior. Looks like he was mistaken. He hastily said, “Yes, Ye-shishu let me think it over.”
Just as he finished speaking, he heard soft gasps of surprise coming from both sides.
“Tell us what happened when you went to Yun Shui Peak. Make it crystal clear, understand?” Kong Wen spoke coldly and sternly.
“Yes , Shifu.” You XiaoMo lowered his head. There was really nothing to hide regarding this matter. Since Shifu already knew about this matter, he must have ways of getting the information. But he also knew that he couldn’t tell everything. So, except for him only taking fifteen minutes to dig out the magic herbs, he related everything else, not leaving out a single word.
After listening to his words, everyone was quiet.
Fang ChenYue didn’t react much from the start until he heard the last words. The warm smile that You XiaoMo was familiar with appeared again on his face, “Xiao Shidi, looks like you have not read those books in vain.”
You XiaoMo’s mouth twitched as he smiled uncomfortably.
Other people also had more or less heard Fang ChenYue speak about how You XiaoMo really liked to read. It was said that he would go to the library every few days to borrow books. He also went this morning.
Kong Wen sighed softly, “Catching Ye-shishu’s eye is your good fortune. But did you consider that with your current strength, even if you go to Yun Shui Peak, it won’t do you much good ? The lowest magic herb in Yun Shui Peak is level four. And you are now only a level one mage. If it were your Da Shixiong or Second Shixiong, then … ”
Fang ChenYue’s pupils expanded a little, and just as he was going to speak, Kong Wen gave him a meaningful glare.
You XiaoMo thought that he now knew the real reason why Kong Wen called him over. That burst of excited energy finally disappeared. What Shifu said was not wrong. He was only a level one mage who could be found everywhere. Yun Shui peak was a rarefied place. For him to go would be wasting an opportunity.
Even though he felt that what Shifu said was right, but hearing these words, he still felt a little hurt.
He was also Shifu’s disciple. It was bad enough that he was not excited for him to get this opportunity. On top of that, he actually hinted that he should give the opportunity to others. Seeing that the others appeared to be in agreement, You XiaoMo’s expression got sadder and sadder. Fine, luckily the ones that Shifu suggested were Da Shixiong and Second Shixiong. If they really were the ones to go, then he definitely wouldn’t object!
“What Shifu said is absolutely right. Disciple will tell Ye-shishu the next time disciple sees him.” You XiaoMo cupped his hands and said somewhat dispiritedly.
Immediately Kong Wen and the other two Shishus revealed satisfied smiles. Only then did they make perfunctory enquiries about his well-being. Finally, Kong Wen brought up the matter about the three stalks of level six magic herbs.
You XiaoMo thought that it would be like those scenes on TV where one had to give up the good stuff as a form of respect for the elders. Unexpectedly, Kong Wen let him hold onto them, actually giving him three jade boxes to store the three stalks of magic herbs. Supposedly it was for him to use when he became a level six mage in the future. It was essentially a disguised form of compensation!
As for why he didn’t ask for the magic herbs, it was most probably because he gave up the opportunity with Ye-shishu .
Returning to his room, You XiaoMo wasn’t in the mood to do anything. He collapsed on the bed, not able to climb up again.
He felt like he had been riding on a roller coaster the whole day. His heart had been thrown violently up and down from morning until now. His limited brain cells were completely used up, sleeping for four whole hours, only crawling up when the sun set.
Then he spent an hour to finally straighten out his chaotic train of thought. The first thing he did was to let all the swear words that he had been holding in for the whole day. They exploded out of his mouth. He felt much better after venting and finally he took stock of all that happened.
Three major things had happened.
This first thing was that he got three stalks of level six magic herbs. Magic herbs of this level for him right now were only something to look up at.
The second this was that Yun Shui Peak’s Ye-shishu wanted to accept him as his apprentice. It was too bad that his excitement only lasted a little while before Shifu made him give the opportunity to Da Shixiong and Second Shixiong. Very depressing. But he was sincerely happy for Da Shixiong and Second Shixiong , because they were really very capable. He also admired them very much.
The third thing was that he again offended Tang YunQi. This time it was a deadly offense.
And that was the end of it. It was basically all these.
As for his own plans for the day, not even one p art was completed.
You XiaoMo only remembered now that he wanted to talk to Ling Xiao about how he broke through the first level of the Heavenly Soul Scripture. Right up to the time he left, he still didn’t think of this matter. It looked like he could only wait to tell him the next time.
You XiaoMo then took out the three jade boxes that Shifu gave him from his storage bag. He had read about these boxes before, these jade boxes were made out of white jade. They felt especially cold , but it wouldn’t freeze the hand. It was made specially to store high level magic herbs in order to prevent the loss of spiritual power from the magic herbs.
But there were also many types of jade boxes , because there were many grades of white jade. The higher the grade, the higher the level of magic herbs that could be stored – such as the one in his hand. By looking, one could tell that the quality of the white jade was no ordinary goods. Shifu actually said that it could be used to store high level magic herbs , that must mean level seven and above. He heard that these kinds of jade boxes are very hard to come by and he actually gave him three all at once, he was really willing to let go of such valuables.
It was just too bad that he didn’t need jade boxes. The dimension in his chest was flooded with spiritual energy and was the best place to store magic herbs. If he could exchange the jade boxes for level four to level six magic herb seeds, that would be good. You XiaoMo seemed to be hoping the heavens would open as he did some wishful thinking.
Walking out from the fantasy world, You XiaoMo patted his stiff cheeks.
After keeping the jade boxes, he first checked to see that the room was locked properly. He then returned to the bed and with one thought in his heart, he appeared in the dimension.
What greeted him was a stretch of fresh green seedlings, all of which were a mix of level two magic herbs. He no longer planted level one magic herbs because he would soon use them up, and he also didn’t need too much. So , the magic herbs in the field were mostly a mix of level two magic herbs. He didn’t plant them all , since he didn’t have the strength to use them all. Planting too much was of no use.
You XiaoMo walked over there and pondered the approximate harvest date for the level two and level three magic herbs. Then he walked to the rack by the lake.
The ten or so stalks of magic herbs he discovered in the ice cave and the three stalks of magic herbs that Ling Xiao gave him were lying peacefully on it. You XiaoMo picked up a sieve and put them on it. He then moved to the magic herb field and planted them one by one.
Even though there were still come impurities in them, it was alright, he could help them wash their insides!
