The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 18.2
Xu Youyou arranged the lunch box for him, but Zhong Yi did not touch his chopsticks.
In fact, there is no problem with their current situation. Zhong Yi explained everything clearly last night, and moral education has been done properly. Rong Mian, the child, should also know how to maintain a normal social distance and will not engage in promiscuous and frivolous behavior anymore. His own future days will be much more peaceful…
This is exactly the outcome Zhong Yi originally wanted, and he should feel relieved.
But Zhong Yi now feels that something is not right, he is uncomfortable.
During dinner, Zhong Yi fried sausages and cooked two side dishes.
Rong Mian stood quietly beside him, slowly pouring cola into two glasses, carefully levelling them at the same height.
However, he hasn’t said a word all this time. When Zhong Yi called him to serve the dishes, he just responded with a soft “hmm.” The whole house was even quieter than when Zhong Yi was alone.
This atmosphere really gives Zhong Yi a splitting headache.
So in the end, he brought the prepared dishes to the coffee table in the living room, deciding that they would eat while watching TV, hoping to find some topics to talk about.
Zhong Yi is also a bit puzzled.
You could say that this child has a thick-skinned face, mainly because he keeps insisting to sleep with Zhong Yi. But after being rejected by Zhong Yi, he completely closed himself off, behaving like a stubborn and willful elementary school student.
Zhong Yi is no longer giving this child any leeway; he has even built an elevator for him. If this person continues to play dumb, then it’s a bit of a lack of understanding on his part.
A show about antique appraisal is playing on the television.
Zhong Yi paused and said, “This bracelet has good quality.”
This was obviously an attempt to start a conversation. However, Rong Mian only responded vaguely with, “Hmm.”
And Zhong Yi could clearly see that this child didn’t even glance at the TV screen. He just held his bowl, slowly took a small bite of rice, and then swallowed a whole sausage in one gulp.
Zhong Yi’s temper started to rise.
He stood up, directly picked up the plate with sausages, and placed it on the other side of the table, saying, “You’ve eaten too much meat. Today’s portion is only this much. Have some vegetables.”
Rong Mian looked up at him.
Zhong Yi looked back at him with a stern gaze, thinking that this child would finally start arguing with him.
However, Rong Mian remained silent. He paused for a moment, lowered his eyes, and slowly picked up a piece of green vegetable, stuffing it into his mouth. Then, he silently bowed his head and began to swallow it bit by bit.
Rong Mian struggled to swallow the food, then he picked up his bowl and chopsticks and stood up. He didn’t look at Zhong Yi, just kept his head down and politely said, “Thank you, I’m full.”
Zhong Yi: “…”
After putting the bowl and chopsticks in the dishwasher, Rong Mian squatted down and stared at the foaming water for a while. Then he stood up and returned to his own bedroom.
In reality, Rong Mian wasn’t full.
He just didn’t know if he could ask Zhong Yi for another sausage. Because Zhong Yi had already told him yesterday that he didn’t like some of his behaviours, so even though Rong Mian wanted another sausage, he was afraid that Zhong Yi would dislike him even more.
Zhong Yi didn’t want to see his original form, and Rong Mian would respect his choice.
But Rong Mian still felt the difficulties of human social interactions – he felt that no matter what he did, Zhong Yi would get angry, speaking would make Zhong Yi angry, not speaking would also make Zhong Yi angry, even showing him his cat form would make Zhong Yi angry.
So Rong Mian chose silence and avoidance.
After returning to the room, Rong Mian had nothing to do. He had already finished reading his lines for tomorrow’s play, the fashion nail salon was still stuck, and Kong Sandou was not around. So he decided to go to bed early.
Rong Mian took off his clothes and transformed back into his cat form.
The bed in the guest room was soft and big, but Rong Mian felt that the room was a bit too spacious, and he didn’t feel secure.
So Rong Mian jumped into the wardrobe. He slowly settled on top of the neatly folded clothes, twitched his tail, curled up into a small ball, and fell asleep for a while.
The result of going to bed at seven was that Rong Mian woke up at one in the morning and couldn’t fall back asleep.
He tried several times in the closet, under the bed, and on the pillows, but he found that no matter how dim or hidden the place was, he couldn’t fall asleep.
Rong Mian stayed there for a while.
He looked through the window towards the garden downstairs. Zhong Yi’s house was big, and the garden was also spacious, with a fountain, benches, and a lawn.
It happened to be early spring, and the temperature was warming up. The lawn had sprouted small patches of pale green, and there was a stone pathway with a stone lamp beside it. Because it was night time, there were little flying insects circling around the warm orange light.
Rong Mian’s eyes brightened.
Zhong Yi couldn’t fall asleep until midnight.
He was scratching his head, like an old father who couldn’t control his rebellious child, feeling angry and anxious. The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became. All the bottlenecks he encountered during filming couldn’t compare to the frustration this child brought to him.
Feeling thirsty, he went downstairs to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water.
From the kitchen window, he could directly see the garden. Holding the glass, Zhong Yi took two sips of water but still felt dry-mouthed. He filled the glass again and continued to drink two more sips.
Casually glancing outside the window, he suddenly froze.
Zhong Yi saw a cat.
It was a black cat with pointed ears, facing away from Zhong Yi, sitting quietly and upright on the ground, staring at the stone lamp on the lawn in the garden.
Its tail fur was fluffy, indicating that it was a long-haired cat. The tip of its tail had a bit of white, swaying back and forth as it swept across the lawn.
A stray cat?
Zhong Yi was a little surprised because the walls surrounding his garden were quite high. If this little creature could climb over, it would undoubtedly be among the best among stray cats.
So Zhong Yi hesitated for a moment, opened the window, and shouted at it, “Mimi?”
The small black cat seemed to freeze for a moment, and Zhong Yi saw its tail swiftly raise up, followed by a slightly cautious turn of its head.
So Zhong Yi caught a glimpse of the cat’s face.
It was a very beautiful little creature, with shiny and soft black fur, and attractive amber-colored eyes. It had a round head and looked very sweet and clean, like an adorable kitten.
Zhong Yi thought that stray cats like this one would usually be quite wary and run away upon seeing a person.
However, he didn’t expect this little cat to just stand there, staring at him with a somewhat dazed expression.
Zhong Yi had a feeling of familiarity when looking at this small black cat.
But since most black cats have a similar appearance, Zhong Yi didn’t think too much about it. He simply asked again, “Are you hungry?”
Even Zhong Yi found it amusing to speak to a cat, knowing that it probably couldn’t understand him. So he turned around and glanced into the refrigerator, then placed a leftover sausage from dinner onto a small plate.
When Zhong Yi returned with the plate, he noticed that the little cat was still standing there, maintaining its posture.
It tilted its head, staring fixedly at the plate in Zhongyi’s hand with its round eyes. After a moment, it looked up at Zhong Yi, wagging its tail from side to side twice.
It appeared as if it were contemplating something.
Zhong Yi found this little creature quite amusing and said to it, “Go ahead, eat.”
