The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 19.1
Shi Cheng asked Rong Mian, “Are these shoes looks good?”
Like most men in their twenties, Shi Cheng was very fond of various trendy brands and sneakers. At this moment, he held up his phone and showed Rong Mian a newly released collaboration sneaker from a certain brand.
Rong Mian lowered his head and quietly looked at the picture for a while.
After a while, he slowly spoke, “Is the part on the heel stained with mud?”
“…That’s their logo, buddy,” Shi Cheng said in agony, then lowered his head to take another look at the picture. “Wait, why does it look more and more like a mud spot the longer I look at it…”
Rong Mian didn’t say anything.
Shi Cheng didn’t mind and casually hooked his arm around Rong Mian’s shoulder, continuing to tell him about the brand’s history and the background of the designer. Rong Mian occasionally nodded slowly, pretending to be listening attentively.
But in reality, Rong Mian had been distracted all day long.
He knew his state of mind was off, but he couldn’t control himself.
Kong Sandou could be considered Rong Mian’s number one emotional sensing radar.
However, this time, whether she was pulling Rong Mian to watch various funny short videos or teaching him how to clear levels in a trendy nail salon game, Rong Mian remained in that absent-minded state, speaking slowly and only replying with a single word.
Kong Sandou scratched her head and cheeks, so anxious that she drank three bottles of Nongfu Spring1water in a row.
In the end, she was at a loss for what to do. While Rong Mian and Shi Cheng were rehearsing their lines, Kong Sandou secretly made an urgent call outside the set and summoned Yun Min, who was making catnip lollipops in the shop.
When Yun Min arrived at the set, Rong Mian had just finished filming his scenes.
Rong Mian tilted his head back and softly called out, “Uncle Yun.”
Yun Min smiled and praised him, “You did a great job.”
Rong Mian made a sound of acknowledgment but then fell silent, staring blankly. Kong Sandou was frantically gesturing beside them, and Yun Min paused before asking, “Has the tail appeared in that situation again?”
Rong Mian shook his head.
Yun Min sighed and said, “Tell Uncle Yun what’s going on. What happened?”
So Rong Mian paused for a moment and proceeded to tell Yun Min everything. He explained how Zhong Yi had sternly rejected his invitation for intimate contact, how Zhong Yi had verbally expressed his dislike for Rong Mian serving guests, and how Zhong Yi didn’t want to see his original self. Rong Mian revealed all these details to Yun Min, bit by bit.
“…But he actually saw my original self yesterday.”
Rong Mian whispered, “He just didn’t know that the little kitten was me. He touched me and was gentle with me.”
Rong Mian’s ears turned slightly red.
He felt that Zhong Yi was truly a contradictory person. He clearly said that he didn’t need or want to see, but yesterday in the garden, he pinched his own buttocks and even looked at himself…
Rong Mian suddenly felt a bit sad.
“So, Zhong Yi is willing to touch any unfamiliar stray cat.”
He said a bit stiffly, “He just doesn’t want to see me in my cat form.”
So, when it comes to a stray cat in the garden, Zhong Yi will call it Mimi affectionately, feed it sausages in a small dish, and even reach out to pinch its buttocks.
But Zhong Yi absolutely refuses to look at his original form – his attitude towards Rong Mian is always hostile and angry. He rejected Rong Mian’s attempts to be friendly, and even confiscated the sausages that Rong Mian wanted to eat during dinner.
Although in the end, that sausage still ended up in Rong Mian’s own belly, Rong Mian’s self-esteem was greatly hurt. He didn’t know what he had done wrong.
“They clearly liked me, those guests.”
Rong Mian whispered, “But Zhong Yi said he doesn’t want to see me in my cat form, and he doesn’t like me entertaining guests…”
“Mianzi, Zhong Yi is a human.”
Yunmin sighed and said, “Have you ever thought that even if Zhong Yi knew you were a cat, it might not necessarily be because of your fur and tail that he chose to be friends with you.”
“The compliments from the guests are only based on your cat form’s appearance.”
Yunmin smiled and said, “But now it seems that Zhong Yi’s previous help to you was due to his admiration for your personality and acting skills. That is actually quite valuable, isn’t it?”
Rong Mian stared blankly at Yunmin.
“Of course, this doesn’t mean that Zhong Yi doesn’t have his own issues. It’s difficult to be friends with humans.”
Yunmin said, “Whether it’s friendship or other emotional relationships, human social interactions are complex, and having conflicts is normal.”
“But most importantly, a comfortable and normal friendship shouldn’t make you feel sad and inferior.”
Yunmin said, “So I think you both need to have a good talk.”
Shen Yan hasn’t seen Zhong Yi in an off state for a long time.
They have acted in numerous plays together, and Zhong Yi has always been the person who best grasps the appropriate emotions on set. However, today Zhong Yi’s state of mind is obviously not quite right.
He made a gesture of apology and said to the staff, “My expressions are still not right. Could you please redo it?”
Fortunately, Zhong Yi quickly regained his composure, and it didn’t delay too much time.
Shen Yan and Zhong Yi have known each other for many years, and they are not the type to hide things from each other. So, after finishing work, she directly asked, “Is there something going on between you and Rong Mian?”
Zhong Yi’s actions paused for a moment.
He raised his eyes and asked somewhat suspiciously, “How do you know?”
Shen Yan sighed, “Your eyes have been locked onto him all day.”
Zhong Yi was taken aback.
He had been feeling uneasy about this matter for the past couple of days, and Shen Yan wasn’t someone who blabbered about everything. So, Zhong Yi sighed and briefly explained the situation between him and Rong Mian.
However, Zhong Yi kept quiet about the company’s demand for the child to accompany guests.
Shen Yan pondered for a moment.
Zhong Yi sighed, “So, you understand, right? The current problem is a bit serious, mainly because the child is really a bit tricky, and I don’t know…”
Shen Yan replied, “What’s so serious about this problem?”
Zhong Yi was stunned, “Isn’t this problem serious?”
“Hasn’t this kind of thing happened in our industry before?”
Shen Yan looked at him inexplicably, “Besides, this child has a clear goal, which is simply to sleep with you. They speak directly and haven’t resorted to any dirty tricks. Apart from mooching a few meals off you, they haven’t asked for anything else. What’s the problem?”
Zhong Yi choked for a moment.
“Mainly because after I rejected him, the child became somewhat withdrawn.”
Zhong Yi sighed and said, “I don’t know why, but it’s been bothering me too…”
“Oh my, after you flat-out rejected him, you even lectured him. Do you expect him to keep shamelessly clinging to you?”
Shen Yan hit the nail on the head, “It’s surprising that the child actually listened to your preaching.”
Zhong Yi was speechless.
“Zhong, you’re almost thirty.”
Said Shen Yan.
As soon as Shen Yan spoke, Zhong Yi immediately understood what she was going to say.
“It’s also time to find a companion.”
