The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 19.2
Shen Yan said with great emphasis, “I don’t know much about this child, but I have acted in many scenes with him. I can tell that he is a sincere and hardworking young person, at least he doesn’t have any malicious intentions to suck your blood. Don’t you want to give it a try?”
Zhong Yi interrupted her with a headache, “I really don’t need-“
Shen Yan sighed, “Do you dislike him?”
Zhong Yi paused for a moment and said, “I can’t say for sure.”
Shen Yan asked again, “Do you think there is something wrong with him?”
Zhong Yi replied, “Well, not really.”
Shen Yan smiled at him and shrugged.
Zhong Yi felt a bit annoyed.
He rarely gets so emotionally tangled up because of someone, but when it comes to Rong Mian, he can say that he both hates and loves him.
Zhong Yi publicly came out of the closet during his birthday party two years ago, but in the past few years, he has been focused on his career and winning awards, with a busy schedule, and he hasn’t really come across anyone who caught his eye, so he hasn’t found a true companion.
This child has a beautiful face and is straightforward. The innocence and naivety in his eyes are truly captivating. The way he looks when eating, that adorable expression, occasionally stirs a tingling sensation in people’s heart.
Shen Yan’s words left Zhong Yi’s mind in chaos. As he walked towards the car, Zhong Yi happened to see Rong Mian sitting together with his assistant, while another man with long hair was chatting with them on the other side of the set.
Zhong Yi unconsciously frowned and asked Xu Youyou beside him, “Who is that?”
“Oh, that’s Rong Mian’s boss from the company, also his agent,” Xu Youyou said. “I met him once before, and he seemed like a nice person…”
Before Xu Youyou could finish her sentence, she noticed the expression on Zhong Yi’s face, so she swallowed the rest of her words and cautiously asked, “Is there a problem?”
For dinner, Zhong Yi ordered takeout, which included meatball sauce, egg custard, and stir-fried green beans.
Rong Mian was afraid that Zhong Yi would suddenly snatch his food away halfway through, so he pre-emptively put four out of the eight meatballs into his own bowl, then sat at a seat far, far away from Zhong Yi, carefully cradling his bowl in his arms, and started eating in small bites.
Zhong Yi had never been so speechless in his life.
After finishing a mouthful of rice, Rong Mian heard Zhong Yi speak up: “Come over here.”
Rong Mian was confused, thinking that Zhong Yi was going to take away his food again. He saw that there were still two meatballs left in his bowl, so he quickly stuffed a large one into his mouth, watching Zhong Yi cautiously.
Zhong Yi said, “…I’m not taking your food. Come over here, I want to ask you something.”
Only then did Rong Mian relax, slowly picking up his bowl and chopsticks, and sitting next to Zhong Yi.
Zhong Yi asked, “That person with long hair on the set just now, is he your boss?”
Rong Mian’s cheeks puffed up, looking at him and nodding.
Zhong Yi hesitated for a moment, took a deep breath, and asked, “Did he come… to force you to continue serving guests? You didn’t agree, did you?”
The meatball in Rong Mian’s mouth was fragrant and sticky, but he seemed unable to swallow it.
He paused for a moment, slowly putting down his chopsticks, recalling the words Yun Min had said to him today, and suddenly felt a sense of inexplicable sadness.
He suddenly asked Zhong Yi, “What’s wrong with serving guests?”
Rong Mian felt like he understood from Zhong Yi’s tone just now that Zhong Yi probably looked down on them, the little cats serving guests at the cat café.
But what Zhong Yi didn’t know was that not all little cats were fortunate enough to have a home and an owner to accompany them for their entire lives.
The days of being a stray cat were tough, and the time spent at the cat café was a significant part of Rong Mian’s life. It was when he was picked up by Uncle Yun, transformed into a human for the first time, tasted the tuna and fish meat in canned cat food, found friends with furry companions like himself, watched historical dramas with Kong Sandou on the television, became fascinated with acting, discovered what he wanted to do, and became an actor.
Rong Mian realized that it was time to explain things clearly.
“Uncle Yun has been very good to me. He gave me a home.”
So Rong Mian lifted his gaze and said firmly, “I know you don’t like me serving guests, but Uncle Yun has given me a lot and taught me many things. So, I actually willingly serve those guests.”
Zhong Yi felt absurd.
“He treats you well and still lets you serve guests?”
Zhong Yi put down his chopsticks, gritting his teeth, “Do you know what serving guests entails?”
“Serving guests isn’t actually that uncomfortable. Most of the time, I just accompany the guests, and it passes by with a nap,” Rong Mian explained stiffly. “And the guests really like me. When they play with me using small toys… I feel happy and enjoy it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.”
Zhong Yi felt the blood throughout his body buzzing and surging towards the top of his head.
He truly felt that the world had gone mad. So, the meaning behind this child’s actions was that he enjoyed serving guests. He didn’t mind the various props that the guests brought, and even the tail in the previous photo was most likely voluntarily worn by him…
“Thank you for taking care of me during this time.”
Rong Mian softly said, “I promised you, so I won’t let anything affect the efficiency of filming. But Uncle Yun’s kindness towards me is something I will repay for the rest of my life.”
Rong Mian looked at the round meatballs in the bowl, hesitating for a moment.
At the thought that he might never be able to be friends with Zhong Yi again, never taste the wontons, sausages, and meatballs, never play with the tassels hanging on the pillow, Rong Mian couldn’t help but feel sad.
This was his first friendship with a human. He thought he had gained a good friend.
But Rong Mian knew that Zhong Yi had already been good to him. It’s just like what Yun Min said, the human and animal worlds and their thoughts are different. Some things, like serving guests for Zhong Yi, might be truly difficult for him to understand and accept.
He had no reason to blame Zhong Yi.
“So if there are guests who really need me, I will still go back and serve them.”
Rong Mian gently said, “I won’t force you to understand me. But if you really don’t like me and can’t accept my actions…”
“Then, apart from on set, let’s not meet privately anymore.”
Said Rong Mian.
