The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 34 Licking Finger
Rong Mian and Kong Sandou watched Tom and Jerry on the small TV on the plane for a while.
“Weird.”
Kong Sandou said, “Very strange.”
“Why do they continue to walk on two legs when they are already in animal form?”
Kong Sandou pointed at Tom the cat, who was running with a whirlwind using his legs on the screen, and asked in confusion, “Won’t they get tired doing that?”
Rong Mian didn’t say anything, but he nodded to indicate agreement.
Rong Mian always had tinnitus when taking off on a plane. This time, he followed what Zhong Yi did last time and asked the flight attendant for a large cup of water after take-off. After drinking it all in one go, it indeed relieved a lot.
Then Rong Mian and Kong Sandou continued watching Tom and Jerry for a while.
Kong Sandou continued to complain indignantly for a long time, and then Rong Mian fell asleep sitting next to her. When he woke up, the plane had already landed.
After getting off the plane, Rong Mian was originally planning to go back to the Cat Cafe with Kong Sandou for the night.
But thinking about Zhong Yi saying that the sausages and bacon at home were about to expire, Rong Mian became worried. So he briefly informed Kong Sandou and went to Zhong Yi’s house first.
By the time Rong Mian arrived home, it was already dawn. However, he first took out the bag of canned cat food that Zhong Yi had bought for him from the suitcase and carefully sorted them on the dining table according to their flavors.
Then Rong Mian opened the refrigerator and found the bags of sausages and bacon that Zhong Yi mentioned on the top shelf.
However, when Rong Mian checked the production dates, he realized that all the sausages and bacon still had at least two to three months before they expired.
Rong Mian didn’t think much of it and assumed that Zhong Yi had made a mistake.
He went back to the bedroom and slept for a while.
When he woke up, Rong Mian stared at himself in the mirror in the bathroom for a while. After thinking for a moment, he changed his tail and noticed that a small tuft of fur at the base had become frizzy.
So Rong Mian took a small comb, dampened it with water, carefully smoothed out the fur on his tail, looked at himself in the mirror again, and then put his tail away.
Rong Mian didn’t know when Zhong Yi would come back, and he missed him a lot.
He read the script in the bedroom for a while and started feeling a bit hungry. He hesitated between frying some sausages and bacon or opening a can of food.
After thinking about it, he decided to leave the sausages for Zhong Yi to cook for him, thinking they would taste better that way. So Rong Mian went downstairs and ate a can of cat food.
Rong Mian will take a little longer to understand the script, and he needs to study longer than ordinary people.
When he gets tired of reading, his way of leisure and entertainment is quite simple. First, he plays with the tassels on the pillow for a while. After getting tired of that, he opens his phone and plays the fashion nail salon for a while.
Then Rong Mian finds himself stuck at a certain level.
He sends a WeChat message to Kong Sandou for help. Kong Sandou quickly replies to him, saying that he must watch the advertisement in order to obtain that special nail polish color and if not, he will be permanently stuck at that level.
So Rong Mian angrily quits the game.
Then Rong Mian feels a little nostalgic again.
So whenever Rong Mian feels that he is starting to miss Zhong Yi, he directly runs downstairs, opens a can of canned food that Zhong Yi bought for him, eats until he’s full, and then goes back upstairs to continue reading.
At 8 o’clock in the evening, Rong Mian eats another can of not-so-tasty mackerel canned food and then realizes that the kitchen trash can is already filled with seven or eight empty cans.
It has been two full days since Zhong Yi last met with him, and three days since they last kissed.
Although Zhong Yi is still very good to him, buying him many cans of food and complimenting his tail as beautiful, Rong Mian always feels like something is different.
His behavior became very strange, as if he wanted to get close to himself, but hesitated and didn’t dare to do so for some reason.
Rong Mian felt that he needed to have a chat with Yun Min.
The film crew had a two-day break for adjustments, and coincidentally, the cat café was also preparing to launch its first dine-in tea set, which was a significant matter. Yun Min decided to hold a serious roundtable meeting.
So Rong Mian returned to the cat café the next day.
Because the pastries could only be served on plates for dine-in and couldn’t be sealed in plastic cups like beverages, there was a high chance of cat hair causing trouble. That’s why Yun Min had never added dessert options to the menu.
But due to several customer suggestions, Yun Min recently made up his mind to include desserts in the menu as a trial.
After careful selection, Yun Min decided to offer a cat-shaped coffee mousse cake and a cat claw-shaped cheesecake as the two options.
To not leave out Kong Sandou, Yun Min handed over the naming rights of this dessert to her, which made Kong Sandou very happy.
Then came the voting stage.
“It seems that not everyone can accept the taste of cheesecake, so I vote for the coffee mousse,” said Guo Wukui after some thought.
He then added, “Actually, it doesn’t really matter to me, since I’ll definitely be the one serving the plates anyway.”
Rong Mian said, “But I sneeze when I smell coffee powder.”
Kong Sandou anxiously suggested, “Why can’t we sell sweet potatoes? Roasted sweet potatoes are delicious too. I want to vote for roasted sweet potatoes!”
In the final voting stage, cheesecake won over coffee mousse by a slim margin of three votes. Kong Sandou’s vote was considered abstention, and the meeting concluded successfully.
Kong Sandou was very angry. She said she decided to name this cheesecake “Roasted Sweet Potato.” The Guo brothers began to persuade her with great difficulty.
Kong Sandou’s temper came and went quickly. Before long, she happily shared the special dried squid she bought at the airport with everyone. The dried squid was chewy, fresh, and fragrant, receiving unanimous praise.
“Is it almost six o’clock? I should hide quickly. That male college student is probably coming soon.”
Guo Wukui stuffed another large chunk of dried squid into his mouth and mumbled, “When he entered the door yesterday, he hugged me and kept kissing me. I couldn’t breathe, and I was extremely scared.”
Kong Sandou handed the bag of dried squid to Rong Mian again. Rong Mian took out two pieces and then tore them into finer shreds, making it easier to chew.
Guo Sigua began to pour cold water on him: “——You were obviously wanted to rush for performance a while ago, and you were overly attentive. You rubbed and licked him. You flattered him, right? If he don’t kiss you now, who will you kiss?”
Rong Mian’s hand paused for a moment.
After a while, he suddenly lifted his head and looked at Guo Wukui, blinking thoughtfully.
Zhong Yi thought he had endured enough, but he didn’t expect the magazine cover to be shot at the beach. So he stood there, blankly blowing by the sea breeze for the entire day.
The photographer’s name is Ren Lei, an old friend of Zhong Yi’s.
Ren Lei has three large dogs at home, and they eat from bowls made by a certain luxury brand. When she has to travel for work, she even hires professionals to come and feed and walk the dogs.
In her circle of friends, she often posts pictures of her dog’s meals. There are fruits, vegetables, liver, and all sorts of peculiar powders. The dog eats better than humans.
Every time Ren Lei meets Zhong Yi, she likes to pull him aside and show him pictures of her dogs at home. This time, Zhong Yi couldn’t escape either.
Perhaps due to the aftermath of recent events, when Zhong Yi looked at the dogs in the photos with their goofy smiles, he always felt like they would suddenly stand up and transform into three big men in the next second.
“These dogs are an inseparable part of my life.”
Ren Lei put her phone away and sighed, saying, “After having them, my heart feels purified. No matter how tough or tiring my work is, when I come home and touch their heads, rub their ears, it’s like I can live a few hundred more years.”
Zhong Yi chuckled and said, “That’s a bit too much.”
“Nevermind, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you,” Ren Lei said.
“You’ve never raised a small animal,” she added.
As a result, Teacher Zhong, who didn’t understand anything, became absent-minded again.
That day, he ate three bites of canned cat food and felt nauseous for the rest of the day. Fortunately, Rong Mian completely eliminated his little sense of inferiority and sensitivity.
That day, Rong Mian didn’t choose to stay with him, and Zhong Yi had been a bit anxious these past two days.
He couldn’t figure out what their relationship was at the moment, nor did he know how to approach Rong Mian to talk about this matter. But if they didn’t talk, they would remain in a stalemate.
After finishing the shoot, Zhong Yi flew back home early.
He arrived in the afternoon and when he opened the door, he breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the hallway light on.
However, when Zhong Yi called Rong Mian’s name, he didn’t receive an immediate response.
Zhong Yi paused for a moment.
He turned around, ready to go upstairs and check immediately, but inadvertently caught a glimpse of a corner in the living room, causing him to freeze in place.
Zhong Yi saw the black cat that had appeared in the garden before.
Or rather, it should be said… it was Rong Mian in the form of a cat.
But this time, it wasn’t standing on the kitchen balcony. Instead, it was sleeping directly on the windowsill in the living room, basking in a small patch of warm sunlight.
It curled up into a small, furry ball, with all its limbs tucked underneath, only revealing a pair of pointed ears.
The skin of its ears was very thin and soft, almost translucent in the sunlight.
Its fluffy tail was coiled beside its body, and as it breathed, the white tip of its tail would gently tremble in sync.
Zhong Yi felt his heart fluttering as well.
The little black cat was wary and slightly opened its eyes upon hearing a noise. When it saw Zhong Yi, it slowly stood up and tilted its head, looking at him.
Then, it let out a soft meow towards Zhong Yi.
It was exactly the same.
Zhong Yi took a deep breath, especially struck by the posture of tilting its head and calmly observing people, which was exactly… the same as Rong Mian.
Zhong Yi felt his hands trembling, and he softly called out Rong Mian’s name.
Zhong Yi: “You, how…?”
The little black cat couldn’t reply to Zhong Yi in human language, so it meowed and agilely jumped onto the sofa. It then tilted its head up and sniffed Zhong Yi’s fingertips.
Before Zhong Yi could react, he watched as the cat lowered its head and gently rubbed its own head against Zhong Yi’s palm.
Zhong Yi’s breath hitched.
Its fur was very soft, perhaps due to being basked in the sun, and its body temperature felt slightly warmer than Zhong Yi’s hand. Zhong Yi felt an itchiness in his palm, a unique sensation.
The little black cat tilted its head up and started serenely gazing at Zhong Yi.
Its round eyes were clear and amber in color. Even though it didn’t speak, Zhong Yi always had the feeling that it was waiting for him to voluntarily pet it.
Zhong Yi started to feel a bit flustered.
When he thought the cat was just an ordinary stray, Zhong Yi could say he was fearless. He could directly grab the back of its neck with one hand and then study its rear end with great interest for a long time.
However, things were different now. Just by looking at this little creature, Zhong Yi couldn’t help but involuntarily soften his breath. He didn’t dare to touch it on his own, afraid that even a slight touch would cause it to disappear.
The little black cat seemed to sense Zhong Yi’s dilemma.
It hesitated for a moment, then gradually approached and got closer to the hand that Zhong Yi held in mid-air.
Then, Zhong Yi could only watch as the cat lowered its head, stuck out its tongue, and licked his fingertips affectionately and gently.
Author’s note:
Rong Mian (whispering): I’ve done all this, why don’t you come and give me a kiss already.
