The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 39 Mian Mian
There was a moment when Zhong Yi doubted whether he was already dead.
After all, he had been acting for so many years, won numerous prestigious awards, had a good rapport with the audience, and definitely wasn’t the type of actor without any notable works.
But he never expected that the two impressions he left on these two people would be “singing out of tune” and “wanting to mate.”
It was true that Zhong Yi couldn’t do anything about singing out of tune. He was completely tone-deaf and there was no hope for him.
In fact, the version aired on the Spring Festival Gala last year was already pre-recorded, and even the million-dollar sound engineer couldn’t help. So Zhong Yi accepted it.
However, what Zhong Yi never expected was that these seemingly innocent kids in front of him would casually use words like mating.
And to make matters worse, Rong Mian, who was beside him, generously and cheerfully admitted, “It was him.”
Guo Wukui turned his head happily to Guo Sigua and said, “I told you!”
Zhong Yi wished he could melt on the spot and merge with the ground.
“No, how old are they?” Zhong Yi took a deep breath and almost gritted his teeth as he asked Rong Mian, “How do you know everything? And can you please speak a bit more tactfully…”
“Isn’t mating a normal thing?”
Rong Mian said, sounding strange. “Guo Sigua and Guo Wukui haven’t been neutered, and their age isn’t a problem, so of course, they would know what mating means.”
“Besides, earlier, you said you wanted to mate with me,” Rong Mian added.
Zhong Yi felt like he had forgotten how to pronounce the word “mating.”
He had a splitting headache and felt like he couldn’t even explain to the small animals in the room. Perhaps in the animal world, mating was just a normal word. After all, everyone in the room, except himself, seemed perfectly at ease.
Zhong Yi took a painful deep breath.
At the same time, Kong Sandou rushed out from the kitchen, whimpering.
She hugged Rong Mian tightly and rubbed against him until Zhong Yi coughed repeatedly on the side. Rong Mian finally realized the situation and broke free from Kong Sandou’s embrace.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you guys,”
Rong Mian pointed at Zhong Yi and happily introduced to the cat next to him, “This is Zhong Yi, my previous VIP guest and now my partner.”
Guo Wukui and Guo Sigua immediately showed an envious and longing expression. Kong Sandou’s face also fell, and Yun Min just stood by, smiling and shaking her head.
Yun Min and Zhong Yi exchanged a few simple greetings. First, Yun Min thanked Zhong Yi for taking care of Rong Mian recently, and subtly mentioned the awkward five million.
Zhong Yi felt a tingling sensation on his scalp. He had almost forgotten about that matter. He promised to make Xu Youyou contact Yun Min after he returned, which relieved Yun Min.
Kong Sandou took Rong Mian’s hand and happily skipped towards the kitchen, saying she wanted to show him how delicious the coffee mousse she made was.
“I might have to go to the kitchen first.”
Yun Min apologized slightly as he spoke to Zhong Yi, “Because Sandou might eat up all the ingredients for tomorrow.”
Zhong Yi nodded in understanding and watched Yun Min walk away. He felt a sense of emotion for a moment.
Just three weeks ago, this person was still a “heartless boss who exploited employees’ rights.” Now, it seemed more like a caring father who worried about everything.
Rong Mian was kidnapped by Kong Sandou to the kitchen, and Zhong Yi knew they were close. He could only find a seat and sit down by himself.
He looked around and was immediately drawn to the photos on the wall of the cat café.
The photos were meticulously framed in wooden frames. Zhong Yi first saw a photo of a grinning black Shiba Inu and a pot of green plants, with a small line of text below that read, “Sandou and her beloved chili pepper bonsai.”
Next, Zhong Yi saw photos of other cats with captions, including ones like “Guo Wukui’s first time pooping in tofu cat litter.”
Finally, Zhong Yi stood up and explored the entire cat café before finding the photo he had been eagerly looking for on the wall behind the cash register.
It was a silhouette photo of a small black kitten nestled in a pumpkin bed, with beautiful and fluffy fur. The kitten had its back to the camera, only revealing its pointy ears and fluffy tail, but it was already adorable enough to make one’s heart skip a beat.
The caption below read, “Runner-up in the 20xx Tail Beauty Contest – Mian Mian.”
Zhong Yi stared at the words “Mian Mian” for a while, still processing it, when his arm was suddenly poked.
Turning around, he saw one of the twins, most likely the one called Guo Wukui, who was holding a blue-eyed ragdoll cat in his arms.
“Hello,”
Guo Wukui looked at Zhong Yi with anticipation and said, “Can you please recommend some potential VIP guests to us too? We also want to only accompany one guest each day. It’s really tiring to clean and accompany guests at the same time, and we have a very positive attitude towards our business.”
Guo Wukui showed his beloved older brother to Zhong Yi, turning him around 360 degrees in his arms. “We are good-looking too. Guo Sigua’s butt is a little bigger than mine, you can touch it if you want…”
Rong Mian walked out of the kitchen, holding a prepared coffee mousse.
The main part of the mousse was made by Kong Sandou because Rong Mian couldn’t understand the sequence of mixing various pastes. However, Rong Mian sprinkled the coffee powder on top.
The brown coffee powder fell on the milky white milk mousse, and when combined with the sieve and hollow props, it formed a cute shape resembling a cat’s paw.
Rong Mian couldn’t wait to show it to Zhong Yi.
However, as soon as Rong Mian walked out of the kitchen, he saw Guo Wukui sitting opposite Zhong Yi, enthusiastically talking about something.
Zhong Yi had his back turned to Rong Mian, so Rong Mian couldn’t see his expression clearly, but he noticed Guo Sigua nestled beside Zhong Yi, wagging his tail and nudging his head into Zhong Yi’s palm.
The smile on Rong Mian’s face faded.
At that moment, Zhong Yi felt that his entire world had quieted down when he walked out of the cat café.
In just a short hour, Zhong Yi listened to Guo Wukui’s narration of their bittersweet experiences as working cats — how they operated their business every day, how male university students from nearby campuses would come over every weekend to cuddle them, how much toilet cleaner they needed when cleaning the toilets in human form, and even how Uncle Yun would use special measures to help them with constipation.
At the same time, Guo Sigua by Zhong Yi’s side would meow and agree, these two brothers harmonized perfectly and never stopped.
Zhong Yi was driving and felt that his mind was finally a bit quieter, while Rong Mian sat quietly beside him without saying a word.
Zhong Yi thought Rong Mian was tired, so he reached out to turn off the radio, intending to let him sleep for a while.
However, Rong Mian turned his face to the side and suddenly asked, “What do you think of Sigua and Wukui?”
Zhong Yi was momentarily stunned, unsure of the meaning behind Rong Mian’s words.
In Zhong Yi’s eyes, these two kids were noisy and mischievous but harmless little brats. However, after thinking for a moment, he felt that since they were Rong Mian’s friends, he should give a more positive evaluation after beautifying and embellishing his words.
Zhong Yi said, “They’re pretty good, a cute pair of twins.”
Rong Mian paused for a moment, murmured an “oh.”
He lowered his gaze, stayed silent for a while, and then asked, “Do you think they are good-looking?”
“They’re alright, their blue eyes are pretty, and they’re cute,” Zhong Yi replied.
In reality, in Zhong Yi’s eyes, all ragdoll cats looked the same, with white fur and blue eyes. It was Rong Mian, with his black fur and white paws, who had a bit more uniqueness.
Rong Mian said dryly again.
After a while, he suddenly asked, “How does it feel to touch?”
Zhong Yi didn’t respond for a while because he hadn’t actively touched either of the brothers, as if the few times he did touch them, it was Guo Sigua who took the initiative to bring his head closer to rub against his hand.
“It feels fluffy,” Zhong Yi asked, “What’s wrong?”
However, Rong Mian didn’t speak again.
Just as Zhong Yi had just parked the car in the basement, turned off the engine, and was about to get out, he noticed that Rong Mian beside him was still motionless.
Zhong Yi sensed that something was off, but before he could react, Rong Mian lifted his eyes.
Rong Mian looked at him sadly and said, “Zhong Yi, you are clearly my partner.”
Zhong Yi was dumbfounded.
“No, I didn’t…”
Zhong Yi was at a loss for words, “He came up on his own, I couldn’t push him away…”
“—I can still smell their scent on your hand.”
Rong Mian lowered his eyes and muttered, “It’s the strong smell of dry cat food. Only Guo Sigua likes to eat a lot of dry cat food. You must have been petting him for a long time.”
Rong Mian seemed genuinely upset.
Zhong Yi explained all the way, but Rong Mian quickly walked away, even going upstairs without taking off his shoes.
Just as Zhong Yi was about to follow him, Xu Youyou called, confirming their plans for the next month.
He had no choice but to answer the call while changing his shoes at the entrance.
After hanging up the phone, Zhong Yi went upstairs to find Rong Mian, but all he found on the guest bed were the clothes Rong Mian had been wearing, with no trace of the person himself.
Zhong Yi searched the entire house, going in circles, checking the kitchen, the bathroom, the garden, and even rummaging through the dishwasher.
Finally, Zhong Yi returned to his own bedroom and found Rong Mian curled up on top of the tall bookshelf next to his bed, facing away from him.
The bookshelf itself was a dark brown color, and Rong Mian’s fur was black, almost completely blending into the shadows above.
In Zhong Yi’s perspective, all he could see at the top of the bookshelf was a fluffy black mass, with a sharp tip and a white long tail hanging down from it.
Zhong Yi: “…”
Zhong Yi was both angry and amused.
“Come down.”
Zhong Yi said.
There was no response.
Zhong Yi paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and used the remote control to turn on the TV next to him, tuning in to the antique appraisal program, and then turned up the volume.
“Today is your favorite antique appraiser.”
Zhong Yi said, “Come down and watch, otherwise the program will end soon.”
Zhong Yi just watched as the little black cat’s ears seemed to twitch slightly, but the rest of its body remained motionless.
“These two kids are quite enthusiastic.”
Zhong Yi sighed, “They’re just a bit too noisy, it’s giving me a headache. I didn’t even initiate the contact, really, it was him rubbing against my hand on his own.”
The black furry ball remained motionless.
Zhong Yi also paused for a moment.
“But speaking of which, among the photos I saw on the cat café wall, I spotted an even cuter cat.”
As if suddenly remembering something, Zhong Yi changed to a more relaxed tone and said, “I feel like it’s even more handsome than Guo Wukui.”
Then Zhong Yi watched as the sleeping cat’s ears suddenly perked up.
“I remember… it was the runner-up in some tail beauty contest, oh what was it called, something like Mian Mian.”
Zhong Yi continued nonchalantly, “I can’t quite recall, but it was truly sweet, how should I put it, well, let’s just say I fell in love at first sight.”
Then Zhong Yi noticed that Mian Mian’s tail trembled slightly.
Suppressing a laugh, Zhong Yi remained silent.
As expected, five seconds later, Mian Mian sluggishly turned around, meowed at Zhong Yi, then gracefully jumped off the bookshelf and glanced at Zhong Yi before running towards the guest bedroom.
Zhong Yi found it truly adorable and satisfying to see the little cat sulking, and it was indeed easy to please.
Five minutes later, Rong Mian, who had changed back into his clothes, stood again at Zhong Yi’s door.
At first, he kept his head down and didn’t say anything. After a while, unable to resist, he secretly raised his eyes and glanced at Zhong Yi. But when their eyes met, he quickly looked away, his ears turning slightly red.
“Mian … ,” Zhong Yi said cheerfully.
Rong Mian lowered his head in embarrassment and whispered, “Don’t call me that.”
“I wasn’t talking about you. Don’t get carried away. I was referring to my Mian Mian,” Zhong Yi said calmly.
“Our Mian Mian has amber eyes, and the most beautiful and unique tail. I just want to be our Mian Mian’s VIP guest,” Zhong Yi said leisurely, causing Rong Mian’s neck to turn red.
Zhong Yi then remained silent for a while before asking, “Can I kiss Mian Mian now?”
Rong Mian looked up at Zhong Yi and softly murmured, “Hmm.”
He said to Zhong Yi, “Can you promise me that you won’t touch other cats in the future?”
Zhong Yi kissed his eyes and replied, “I won’t touch them.”
So they stood at the door and kissed. Rong Mian breathing heavily and looking up at Zhong Yi. When their noses rubbed against each other affectionately, Rong Mian suddenly seemed to remember something.
He abruptly turned his head and looked behind Zhong Yi.
“We haven’t watched the antique show,”
Rong Mian said, “and it’s about to end in twenty minutes.”
Since Zhong Yi had inadvertently shot himself in the foot, he had no choice but to lie in bed with Rong Mian and watch the show.
During a commercial break, they coincidentally saw Shen Yan, who was endorsing a certain brand of lipstick.
Then Rong Mian turned his face away and suddenly called out Zhong Yi’s name.
“Zhong Yi, I just remembered,”
Rong Mian said, “before your birthday, you didn’t know that I was a cat, nor did you know about the existence of the cat café, right?”
Zhong Yi hesitated for a moment and nodded.
Rong Mian made an “oh” sound. He lowered his head and pondered for a while, then looked up into Zhong Yi’s eyes and asked innocently, “So, what did you think being a guest meant back then?
”Zhong Yi’s expression suddenly froze for a moment.
Curiously, Rong Mian continued, “And what kind of service did you want me to provide as your guest?”
